Now the outside of the restaurant wasn't that appealing but I saw several cars and people coming in and out so I knew I was in for a treat. I ordered the Hot honey fried catfish with greens and Mac & cheese. Yall everything melted in my mouth. Like no lie. My fish was fried hard and crispy like I requested. The sauce didn't make it soggy. Now I did ask for the sauce on the side l, but they forgot, and it's okay because it was delicious. I order the crabmeat egg rolls and it was literally just flavored crabmeat all through it. I killed em. It was worth the money. The greens had black spots all over them so i didn't feel comfortable eating them. I didn't eat them but they smelled good. I'm definitely going back here to try other stuff. My total was like $43 and I waited for about 15/20 minutes but I don't mind waiting when it's cooked to order. I will be back every time I visit Baltimore. Mannnnnnn I was able to support this black owned business on Juneteenth ! And BABYYYYYYY !!!!!!! It was worth every penny and the drive. Let's jump right into these huge crab cake filled egg rolls & the sauce. Baby I ate a half of the egg roll and knew I was in heaven. Full lump crab meat ! Finally made it to Yai & Toya's brick-and-mortar location in Baltimore! My friends and I were excited to try it because we've been seeing it all over TikTok and Instagram. First, there isn't any indoor seating, but they were playing great music while customers waited. The cashier was also attentive and helpful, even checking with the kitchen about the type of oil they use for frying, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the food did not meet my expectations. I ordered the salmon, green beans, and yams. The salmon itself was cooked well, but there was a little too much sauce for my liking. The green beans were very peppery and seemed to lack other seasoning. The yams were decent. My girlfriend ordered the honey-fried catfish with mac and cheese and yams. The catfish had way too much breading, and the seasoning profile wasn't our favorite. The mac and cheese was extremely salty and greasy, though the yams were okay. My friend ordered the turkey wings with mac and cheese and green beans. The turkey wings were not tender and lacked flavor. To make matters worse, she found a Dole produce sticker in her turkey wings, which was disappointing. Thankfully we were close and were able to return back to the restaurant. Now for the highlight--the seafood salad was SO good! It was fresh, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the Ritz crackers they included. Overall, I really wanted to love this spot because of all the hype surrounding it, but the food just didn't deliver for us. Saw this place on instagram and I wanted to give them a shot. Drove out to Baltimore for my sons basketball game and stopped by Yai & Toya's Cuisine. Their Instagram shows a food truck however this is an actual brick and mortar carryout location. I arrived around 1:20 on a Sunday (they open at 1) an there was already a crowd inside waiting. Gospel music was playing and the staff was friendly. The menu is quite small and it's sad to see so many items out of stock but they did have some good options remaining. I ordered the Fried Chicken wingettes with a side of candid yams and 5 cheese Mac & Cheese. I added a side of sautéed greens beans for a vegetable. I was originally quoted 20-25 minutes however it took about 30-35 minutes. The food tray was particularly heavy and I was surprised at the amount of food in the container. There is no place to eat inside however as soon as I got to the car I couldn't help but eat the food. The fried chicken wingettes were HUGE!!! Came with 4 flats and 4 drums. Extremely crunchy and seasoned well. They were delicious. The 5 cheese mac was good as well. The candid yams were a little crunchy. Not what I'm use to however they were ok. The sautéed green beans were lukewarm warm but I loved the taste and seasoning of them. I wish they were hot. Overall I'd definitely return. I'd place an order online as the wait time is rather long. The food is good and a great bang for your buck. 5 stars for the food. 3.5/4 stars for the wait. If I could give them 4.5 stars I would. I finally got a chance to visit Yai and Toya's cuisine. It's a small carry out with large portions. I order the hot honey shrimp over yellow rice. It comes with 2 additional sides and I ordered mac and cheese and green beans. My food was delicious. The shrimp were huge as advertised. The Mac and cheese was super cheesy. My green beans were a bit cold but the flavor was there. I ordered online and the estimated time for the order was accurate as written on the receipt. They were out of a few menu items that I'll have to come back and try. I ordered the homemade half and half also but it was out so I was comp'd with 2 bottled beverages instead. They are clearly a hit in the community as there was a steady flow of customers coming in to pick up orders even in the last hour before closing. I will definitely be back! read more

The sides I got were candied yam, lord that was a sugar bomb.. it was like a whole vat of sugar was poured in them. Mac and cheese is something I never order to me because it's bland. When I opened this plate of food I was so excited to eat the smell as well as the portion was amazing. Unfortunately the gravy was so salty I couldn't eat it. I made the mistake of getting gravy on the potatoes and they were ruined as well. It literally tasted like an entire salt shaker was added to the plate. Green beans were stringy and had no flavor. I could see the pepper through the mac and cheese and it wasn't necessarily "five cheese" like displayed on the menu. The batter of the chicken was over seasoned as well which was extremely over powering after a few bites. In addition I also had a side of green beans which I could see so much seasoning through. A delicious experience at their food truck. On this day the truck was behind New Carrollton Metro Station on Garden City Drive, one of its few popup spots in the DMV. The food was good and so was the customer service. I recommend arriving early to place your order as the lines can be long and I believe the main proteins are cooked to order. The food truck itself is one of the better versions I've seen in the DMV. They place large boards showing their menu outside of the truck and electronic versions on motion television screens. For homestyle cooking with southern style entrees, this place is a good option. I'll try them again when in the area. Give them a try. read more

Had Yai & Toya's cater our Thanksgiving dinner and everything was amazing! Pickup was right on time and the food was hot and ready. The standout dishes were the bourbon salmon, maple-glazed lamb chops, and garlic mashed potatoes--absolutely delicious. Nothing was dried out, and the baked chicken literally fell off the bone.
