Been to NG several times and never really thought about stopping but tonight we did. And let me tell you, wonderful! Being from the Chicagoland area, we think we have good pizza. Well Wisconsin strikes again. Sugar River had so many choices in pizzas. We opted for the Rigto-be-kidding me pizza, then and crispy. We weren't even half done with our salads and the pizza was ready. Plenty of cheese, meat and sauce. Very very good. Even the side salads. They had all kinds of veggies chopped up and very fresh. Might I suggest a combination of the ginger dressing with blue cheese. Hands down, great place. Clean, quick and pleasant. If you need to take a break from all the Swiss food this town has to offer, try a pizza. You'll be more than happy! read more

This is the go to place for pizza. I love the Mac & Cheese Pizza and my brother and dad love the Buffalo Chicken Pizza. I tried a sammy for the first time here (Chicken Cordon Bleu) and it was pretty tasty! My hubby got the chicken bacon ranch sammy as a flatbread - was a little too greasy for his liking but he prefers more of a natural and fresh taste over melted and greasy. They have a super cute outdoor eating area with what looked like tables with the built in fire feature. They also have a very large seating area upstairs and you can rent that out for private baby showers/bridal showers or other gatherings! read more

I called and made arrangements a week ahead of time for a large group (30 people) for dinner including children. The staff was very rude, yelling at some of the adults to "sit down" when we first arrived. They refused to take our drink orders unless we were sitting in a seat (which meant we could not help our kids because we were separated from them). Staff was overheard by several people in my party complaining about our group and insulting our kids. I pre-ordered food for the entire party but was told I was not allowed to order more food, when I was concerned I had under-ordered. This was the worst experience at a team dinner we have ever had. We had a great experience at another local restaurant (Tofflers) the night before. And we had a great experience at Sugar River Pizza in Verona, which makes this even more disappointing. read more

This is definitely a quality place to go get a pizza. It's in a fun place along the Sugar River Trail. Both times I've come here have been after a group bike ride through the countryside. I wish they were open a little later, we tried coming here a third time but they were closing when we finished the bike ride... seems too early for summer when it's still light and gorgeous outside. I love making my own pizza and all of the different topping options they have. I used to get goat cheese on my pizza... I'm sad it seems to be gone now. My most recent visit wasn't the most amazing I've had. Being across from the brewery, I was shockingly disappointed in the beer selection. The menu seems large, but they didn't have most of the beers I wanted and some are only seasonal but on the list year round. The first two we tried to order were not in stock. We ordered a thin crust pizza but I would call the crust anything but thin and crispy. I've been here before and to their other locations, and this seemed to be an anomaly. Well if you can have fun laughing at totally amateur service this is the place for you! An hour and 10 minutes after arrival we received our first drink. We got our bottle of wine but it took another 20 minutes for glasses. And the only glasses that became available were chilled pint glasses, not right for wine. No second drink ever arrived though it was ordered several times. Apparently there is a shortage of plates and silverware too and none made it for the appetizer round. 2 hours after we arrived our pizza came to the table. As they can't keep up with setting tables and cleaning plates, don't expect them to keep up with cleaning the bathrooms. The server was young and inexperienced but received little to no support from a bus person or host or bartender or manager. Unfortunately happening regularly here but not again for me. read more

It's is and has a local vibe. You come for the Liza but the out door seating and huge beer menu is a nice touch. There really isn't anything like a hand crafted pizza right out of the oven. I've been to their other locations but I really dig this one it's cozy inside and out. It's right on the bike trail - it's just quirky enough to to add to the charm. Happened upon this restaurant last year by chance when we were looking around for a place for lunch after visiting the brewery. My dad saw their sign out front that advertised '80 craft beers' and said "hey! let's try this place!" I am so glad we did, because now we have made it part of our routine every time we take a road trip up to New Glarus. On our first visit, we ordered the pulled pork pizza with bbq sauce and red onions...and since this pizza was so incredible, we haven't ordered anything else since! The pulled pork pizza is legendary and we look forward to it on each visit. The menu is extensive, and there are many different beer options to choose from as well. The service has always been efficient and friendly, with suggestions and recommendations on certain beers. There is a an outdoor seating option that is right along a trail, so if the weather is cooperative, this is lovely. read more

I made a boo-boo... I devoured a lot of cheese dishes here! Ok... maybe that isn't the biggest boo-boo but I usually don't eat so much cheese. This place worked out to our benefit. We had spent the day running around Wisconsin. After working up an appetite at New Glarus, we went for pizza. This was around World Cup time so we went in and asked if they could put the Belgium game on because #Belgium4Life, right? Right! They took us upstairs and they put the game on their big screen just for us. Kudos to them. The place was cozy. I imagine for huge sporting events that the place gets packed. What did we order? -- Fried cheese curds - To be fair, this was my first experience with cheese curds. Delicious but I just don't see the appeal that many Wisconsinites see with fried cheese. If they would've kept bringing us baskets of these, I would've kept on eating. They were good but to me... they're mozzarella sticks but in ball form. -- Fried ravioli - Yum but it's another thing where I only need one or two. Personally, I would choose these over the cheese curds. -- Cheese bread - We were hiking later that day and I didn't want a full on pizza so I opted for cheese bread instead. In this instance, I'm glad that I ordered cheese bread. I was already filling myself up on curds and ravioli... had I ordered a pizza, I would've burst! Everyone was nice here. The place was clean and plenty of natural light floods the place. They have so many things on their menu and the atmosphere makes me confident in ordering anything on their menu. I want to make it back to try that marinara and goat cheese appetizer. During football season, I normally watch games from my home. Going out is too much work. I have visited here twice, about a year apart. They are in New Glarus, and both times I have visited after a trip to the brewery in order to redeem my beer token from my tasting. And even aside from the New Glarus Brewing beer, they have a pretty great beer selection! Anyway, this most recent visit, on July 2nd, we were also hoping they might have a tv tuned to Fox so we could watch the second half of one of the World Cup games. The hostess ran upstairs to see if she could get it turned on for us while we waited. It took a few minutes, but she was able to get it up and on for us and we were seated upstairs. In the meantime, the other servers who saw us waiting up front came over and asked if we had been helped and if we needed to be seated. Great service from the get-go, y'all! And I can't thank them enough for being so accommodating so we could watch the end of the game and the post-game coverage! Not only that, for most of our visit we were the only table upstairs, so our server had to go up and down those stairs just to take care of us. THANK YOU. My group of three decided to share several plates and items. The cheese curds were wonderful. The fried ravioli was super tasty. Cheese bread was satisfying. The salad was light and yummy! And the pizza special on the day was delicious. They came in two waves, which was just fine since we were sharing everything. If you are in NG and are looking for some yummy food, or/as well as somewhere to redeem your free beer token from the brewery, I would absolutely recommend Sugar River Pizza! read more

This location has decent outdoor patio seating next to the sugar river trail. The tables have a fire pit in the middle but ours wouldn't light. Indoor seating is available too. We had a large group of 12 and the service was really good even though it was busy. I have enjoyed the pizza before but not their sandwiches. I tried the pesto spinach artichoke sandwich on garlic infused bread with a side salad. The side salad was good and the sandwich was delicious! Ordered cheese curds made with local cheese and they didn't disappoint! My husband got the Cuban sandwich with waffle fries. The waffle fries are huge and get a large amount with the sandwich. First time I ever walked out of a restaurant. We ordered an appetizer and two pizzas. We waited an hour before asking about our order as not even the appetizer had arrived. The waitress told us that they only had one person working in the kitchen and that he had to take a break. I was shocked that a restaurant would stop making food without communicating to the customers. Things happen, you can get short staffed - but to not communicate that is inexcusable. The waitress that told us that ours would go in soon. Excuse me? We have been here an hour and our food hasn't even been started yet? At this point we told the waitress we were leaving.. She said that fine. BTW, this was a Thursday at 3:00pm. I can't imagine what a mess this place must be on a weekend dinner service. Too many good places in New Glarus - skip this one. read more

We love SRP and recommend it to all our friends and family, and make a point of ordering whenever we have visitors so they can experience the quality we have come to appreciate from this chain; unfortunately, last night it was 2.5 hours until we received our order, a full 1.5 hours beyond what we were told, for an order of cheese curds and a 14" pizza with three toppings. We understand that orders become backlogged particularly when staffing is short, but this is also not the first time we have run into this situation at this location. We would like to continue as regular customers but are frustrated whenever it happens. In the future, please consider communicating whether it would make more sense for us to come pick up the order given resource constraints as we would have elected an alternative option. read more

My husband and I spent a night at the Chalet Landhaus in New Glarus with our puppy. Everyone we talked to at the hotel and at the brewery raved about this place. We were happy to find it was right behind our hotel. The staff was super friendly and attentive. They couldn't allow our puppy on the actual patio, but their patio is right next to the Sugar River Trail so they gave us a spot right next to the trail. Our puppy sat right on the other side of the fence, but was still able to poke his head through and get some pets. The food was amazing. We started with the cheese curds. They were some of the best I have ever had. We knew they were fresh because we ran into one of the workers at the local cheese factory picking up their palate of cheese. My husband and I each ordered a 10 inch pizza for lunch. I ordered a bacon and pineapple and my husband ordered the pulled pork bbq with pineapple. They came out super hot, fast, and full of local melted cheese. The crust was crispy underneath with a soft inside. The pizzas were loaded with toppings and so yummy. My husband and I plan to make a stop here any time we drive into town for a Brewery visit. read more

Danni wins!! We had not only an awesome meal but a fantastic experience. We came on a Sunday overnight so the whole town was uber quiet. We definitely made the best decision restaurant-wise. Danni, our server, came over to tell us that if she recommends a beer and we don't like it, she'll change it out for no additional cost. And yup, don't feel bad, it's true. My wife changed her drink Bc she wasn't feeling the New Glarus (ps go to New Glarus brewery, buy a pint or taster and they'll give you a free or $5 off drink coin) and it was fine! Salad, bruschetta and a calzone- all super good. Plus 2 new Glarus beers and 2 heavier beers- all GOOOOOD!! The calzone was spot on- cheese on top made it crispy and delicious. The bruschetta was great- the balsamic glaze could have soaked the whole thing! And while the salad was basic, the asparagus were super flavorful. Based on our friend's recommendation we decided to celebrate my wife's and daughter's birthday at this Pizza place. They were not taking any reservations due to Covid but assured us that we can always get a table. We reached around 6pm and were shown to a nice booth upstairs. Very friendly waiter Phil and took our order and got us started off with a bottle of wine. He recommended a appetizer platter which was outstanding. We ordered a salad and was fresh and generous portion. We ordered the five alarm thin crust crispy pizza and it lived up to what it promised, spicy ,tasty and crispy. Really enjoyed the pizza and we were pleasantly surprised with a birthday desert order of cream puff pastry and ice cream.
