I was waiting for a drink while nobody was behind the bar on a Thursday Night, and I walked outside to see if anybody had seen the bartender and when I asked she replied with "The bartender is on her break Mother Fu****!" so I said "wow next time you should announce that nobody will be behind the bar... when she finally returned to the bat, and started serving other customers while I patiently waited and I finally asked for my drink order she responded with "why don't you go look for the bartender!?" and continued to serve other customers and never returned back to me or my party of 10... read more

A great spot to come to for a quick drink or casual hang out spot. Doesn't look like much on the outside but it's what's in the inside that counts! Parking is shared by the plaza. It is a dive bar with bar stools, tables, and high tops inside. They have plenty of TVs to watch sports on. The bartenders are extremely friendly, the drinks are good and cheap as well! I know I'm writing a review for a dive bar but I miss coming here haha. When I first turned 21 my grandma would always want me to take her here for drinks. It was our spot for a bit and the staff were always welcoming! My grandma likes to make up her own drinks...name them and then pretend like bartenders should know them...kind of an inside joke between us and they were always really nice and made her whatever her special order was that day haha. Came here last night and it was quite an experience , a great one that is. It's a small bar but it's pretty entertaining. There was a "semi drunk" lady sitting next to us at the bar that made me laugh almost the entire time we were there. While I was in LA, my friends who live in Granada Hills took me to the Sugar Suite. This was definite a true dive bar. Despite being a dive bar, they did have very clean/nice bathrooms. The drinks were reasonably priced and strong. While the bartenders were unique. Definitely will have to stop by again next time I am in town. Was not expecting this in an old shopping center where my dad and I used to get Winchel's Doughnuts back in the day. I stopped because it started getting overly packed and men would just grab us - as we would walk to the restroom. I then started dating my now girlfriend (we would go before a movie around 6pm) & there used to be this young blonde bartender who I had never seen before & boy was she so disrespectful & always drunk. She would give my girlfriend shots to "go put in the bathroom" so she, the bartender, could then go out of camera view & take it. When I went back after those 3 incidents, I heard a male bartender talking to someone saying they fired her- no surprise! Love this place. My husband and I have been ongoing patrons for 7 years. If you grew up in the valley and you're 30+ this place is for you. On Saturday nights, the DJ, Sugarless Cheeks is who keeps us coming back, he shows off a mix of throwback's and freestyle. Kristen is a bartender favorite of ours. Absolutely gorgeous and serves up our drinks fast! However the bar has recently become equipped with a hell of a new bartender, Chrystal that made her way over from Norwood where they serve craft cocktails. Great move!!! The Sugar Suite is a classy cocktail lounge located right off the 118 and Balboa in the new Fresh N Easy complex. When you enter the bar, you'll notice it's red and black decor, cleanliness, and great staff. The bar is safe and well kept up. You won't find any ripped bar stools or graffiti in the bathrooms here. There are drink specials listed on the chalkboard and the bartenders all pour a great drink. Ask them to make you their special and they'll come up with something that suites you. This is a full bar with several beers in bottles and on tap. So if your girl wants a chocolate martini and you want a New Castle on draft, they can make it happen. Happy hour is from 7-10am and from 4-7pm EVERYDAY. Yay! They have $3 wells and many beers as low as $2.75 during happy hour. They also have bar snacks like beef jerky, chips, nuts, and various other goodies. There are two dart boards, one coin machine, hotspot, LOTS of TVs and a juke box. If you're cold, just ask the bartender to turn on the fireplace, and cozy up in the back booth. This is a good bar for a date night or just to check out something new. Many first timers end up becoming regulars and make a lot of friends here. Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays are the busiest nights but usually there are 2-3 people working. Oh the Sugar Suite. Classic. I've been here a few times now, first time being on my 21st birthday. We stumbled in around 1 a.m. Everyone knows everyone, and it's the kind of place where you feel like you're part of the family. It's nothing special, and their drink selection doesn't impress, but there's just something about this place that keeps people coming back, year after year. A couple little old men who i'm sure have been coming here since the day it opened bought me a few drinks to welcome me to the family. It was cute, haha. It's the only bar worth going to in Granada Hills, and the second you walk in it just feels like such a throwback...but in a good way. I still have yet to play darts here....i was too drunk last time and i probably would have accidentally thrown my dart into some innocent persons' eye. Oh well. Next time. Maybe tonight, actually. It's walking distance from one of my good friends' houses, so that's really convenient at 3:30a.m. when you realize that no one's okay to drive [safety first, people!]. I was not greeted in unison simultaneously by all the patrons of the bar, whether they had shouted my name or Norm!! makes little difference. Woody was strangely absent. I came in with a my other two girlfriends to check out this Dive and it was pretty kool, the bar was full and most of the tables were filled. Thursday night is either Trivia night or Karaoke because I saw a guy setting up either one. We sat by the fire place pit and chilled with our drinks. Our drinks were pretty descent, $14. for two goose & tonic served in a 8 oz glass , so you could just imagine the content of Vodka and a plus on the calories intake. I was actually surprised at how packed this place was on a Friday night. I came to this bar on a Monday night. I am not from the area and decided to explore and grab a drink. As soon as I sat down, the bartender Marissa took care of me with Olympic speed! She was amazing and explained to me how the bar was a very community friendly bar. Marissa even explained to me what a dive bar was because I was confused to what it meant. Even though i was not from the community time I didn't feel like I was an outsider at all. I was in Granada Hills this weekend and we ended up at this place Friday night and back again on Saturday morning. We were going to grab a cup of joe at Starbucks but I kind of had the shakes from the night before so we said what the hell and walked into Sugar Suite. It's one of those local bars that has been around forever and everyone seems to know everyone. They had 21 year old patrons also with some old fogies. When I walked it my eyes had to totally adjust since it was super bright outside than to walk into a very dark bar. I told the waitress I need a spicy hot red beer to stop my headache in it's tracks. Girlfriend hooked me up. 3 drinks later my 3 friends and I never made it to Los Angeles to shop in the alleys. But we had a great weekend and got our clothes shopping therapy locally. read more
