[[HIGHLIGHT]]Super cute shop we stumbled on![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We don't usually come to this part of town, but boy am I glad we did! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's such a colorful gem and super sweet staff![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We got the crapple and lemon yummy cupcake! The frosting is STRONG, but it was super yummy! Will be back!!

A must-go if you're looking for the most moist, soft, and fluffy banana pudding! Whenever I'm in New York City, I always make a point to hit up this bakery for a perfectly not-too-sweet treat. Their cupcakes are usually moist. However, the last time I went, they were dry and not so spongy. If you stick to the banana pudding, you can't go wrong!

I was walking down the block and caught a glimpse of cupcakes and then I looked up at the storefront name. If it was the same as Sugar Sweet Sunshine Bakery a few blocks away, I was def going to check it out. Turns out it was. I still remember how tasty the cupcakes were ten+ years ago. Today I decided to try out the Strawberry Lemon Trifle. It was delicious! It tasted like a deconstructed strawberry shortcake with hints of lemony cake. The cake was moist, the whipped cream was perfect and there were huge chunks of strawberries in each bite. They let me try the banana pudding and that was really good too. I would get that next time. For a small cup, it was $7, but it was totally worth it.

I was walking by with my kids and realized that the location moved to Grand Street. A much welcome sight! I didn't mind walking to Rivington Street and neighboring area but this is awesome to have a dessert shop in the neighborhood. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I popped in on a quiet Saturday afternoon and my treated my kids to the first flavors that piqued their interests.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Bob (vanilla cake and chocolate) and the Ooey Gooey won. Ooey gooey hasn't changed. It was always my favorite and still good but the Bob was more moist than the Ooey. I would definitely come back and go for more cupcakes. Great dessert option.

Their Ooey Gooey Chocolate Cupcake was da bomb! I didn't expect it to be that good, but it blew me away. The cashier was very friendly, and the décor gave the place a cozy, storybook vibe, with walls full of tributes to animals and family. On top of that, they serve the most perfect cup of NYC style coffee at a great price! I'll definitely stop by again whenever I'm in the area.

Sugar Sweet Sunshine is always the go to spot in the neighborhood for some delicious and pretty cupcakes. I got the red velvet cupcakes (one of each w/ a different flavored frosting) [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's always so cozy in here and it was great checking out the new location.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The service was spectacular, shout out to the girl in the Jeter shirt. The chai latte was okay (not even close to my top faves) and the hot chocolate was mid. My friend also got this crazy looking yum bar that they said was mostly pretty good.

My favorite place ever!! I use to come all the time for a pick me up cupcake or their coffees before high school. Now I come by to pick up cupcakes for all my events, their banana pudding, and an occasional drink. Their staff is always so friendly and helpful when deciding what to order. I love their different sizes because sometimes I just want a little taste of their puddings, and it's super helpful to have a small size. Their cupcakes are delicious and their vanilla base with buttercream is my favorite. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The store itself is super cozy and I love that they moved a few blocks because they're a tad bit closer to me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Sugar Sweet Sunshine Bakery is simply dessert HEAVEN!!! I've been going here for over a decade now, back when they were at their former location. After 21 years on Rivington Street this beloved bakery and neighborhood staple recently relocated a few blocks away to the Grand Street "strip" next to Kosssar's Bialys. Also located on the same street as popular spots "The Pickle Guys" and "Doughnut Plant." You can't miss their extensive display showing mouthwatering cupcakes and puddings to grab and go. They also have a second location nearby which is housed inside the ultra popular Essex Market. Everything I've tried from here was incredibly tasty, from their puddings to their cupcakes. Their banana pudding is truly a standout and I believe their most popular dessert. It easily gives Magnolia Bakery's banana puddin' a run for their money. I think lots of regulars like me would agree that it's even better than Magnolia's. It's truly addictive! My current favorite that I'm hooked on is their Chocolate Chip Deliciousness puddin' (an FDNY favorite). I can't explain it in words. You'd just have to try it and you'll be blown away. Very reasonable prices as well.

The banana pudding here is as good as magnolia bakery's. I don't normally like bananas but banana pudding is a diff story. This bakery's pudding has a good consistency and just the right amount of sweetness. The cupcakes were good too but the pudding was the star of the show for me

This place gives SUCH Magnolia vibes. And this is my first time here, but I've been to Magnolia before, and I don't know who's copying who, but I rest my case. The cupcakes gave the same vibe, the fact that they're known for their banana pudding gave the same vibe. I bought one cupcake and it even TASTED like a Magnolia cupcake. Put them in a lineup, guys. I would not be able to tell them apart. I will say that this bakery had more options, though! The banana pudding also tasted similar in my opinion, but again, the options. There are different flavors that you can try, and though magnolia is expanding, this bakery already HAS them, you know. And there are so many yummy options that it really does make you want to go back and try them all. It's a little out of the way for me, but I definitely appreciated the vibe of the bakery and the sheer amount of options they had of each item they had!

i had seen this bakery on yelp prior when i was searching for a sweet treat in the area. had a last minute need for a mini celebratory cake so called them up. got the good news in the early afternoon and the options for bakeries open past 5 are slim. i knew i wanted specific wording on the cake and let them know when i called. they had 3 options for premade cakes that could be customized with a message. i chose the vanilla cake option which i believe was infused with almond extract and it was delicious! when i went to pick up the cake in the early evening i couldnt help but take a peek at the display of cupcakes. ended up getting a box of 4 -- sexy red velvet, lemon, pistachio, and strawberry cheesecake. personal favorite was the strawberry cheesecake here. highly recommend if you have a sweet tooth!

    Mini puddings!

The bread pudding here is so good! My favorite was the chocolate one since I'm a chocolate lover. We also had the banana one and a strawberry shortcake kind of one! It was soooo good and honestly, a mini cup was plenty. Can't wait to come back when I'm back in New York!

Do you make pineapple upside down cake? What sizes and how much please?

Yes we do. We need at least 24 hours to make. It is made to order. Cheers, Debbie

Does Sugar Sweet Sunshine have a bathroom?

    Not for the public.

How long can the puddings last for?

I mean they'll probably get soggy after a couple days

Do you make large custom wedding cakes?

Hi Caroline, we do make wedding cakes. We do not use fondant or gum paste.

Do you have desserts without nuts?

Hi Stephanie, We do have desserts without any deliberate nuts in them. However, we are not nut-free and use walnuts, pistachios, pecans, peanut butter and almond extract in several of our desserts. As there is always a risk of a trace oil…

Today I decided to make a special trip to go here to grab a few goodies. I forgot how small the place was and how low the ceilings were. That wasn't an issue though. The place was nice and cakes were stacked neatly. What was surprising to me is that they don't have any cookies laid in the front display. It's all placed in the back almost hidden. I was deeply disappointed with their cookie selection. It was deeply surprising that they don't sell the butter cookies that had jam in the middle and dipped with chocolate on one side with sprinkles. I did ask the clerk and even showed him a pic of what I was looking for and he said they never sold them. They only had the linzer cookies and they didn't look so good. They also did not have the lobster tail. They did have the sfogliatelle which they also called a lobster tail. I thought they were not the same? Some bakeries sell both and they are definitely not the same. I did end up buying one of their sfogliatelle with cream and some rugelachs. The sfogliatelle was good but the rugelachs tasted slightly underbaked. It did taste fresh though unlike many I've had in other bakeries. However, for $28 per pound, I wouldn't get it again. For those not having lobster tail and not having the Italian cookies, I will have to give Veniero's a low rating. I never thought an Italian bakery would not carry staples. Very disappointed. I need to find another Italian bakery now.

I had to run to work after an appointment so I ordered for takeout. The person taking my order was friendly. I opted for the Lumberjack and a black cold brew. I received the drink very quickly, with a short wait for the sandwich. While waiting, one member of the staff stocking up supplies on the side started chatting with me and then she offered to check up on my sandwich. She came out with it shortly thereafter. She was very friendly and helpful. The sandwich held up well during my 15-minute commute to the office. It is a really indulgent sandwich, with each bite revealing the sweetness and butteriness of the maple crueller, the saltiness of the thick cut bacon, and the savoriness of the cheese and the eggs as the yolks popped. I sipped the cold brew in between bites to cut the richness. It was a very satisfying meal. The Lumberjack is not something I would recommend you eat every day, but it's good as an occasional treat. In the past I've ordered lunch from Daily Provisions via delivery (the "Chefy" salad and the chicken milanese with arugula salad are my favorites), but I might start adding other breakfast sandwiches to the mix.
