Sugarbee's cakes are a beautiful reminder of the great times we had and love we got to share with others through their amazing cakes and pastries (presentation and flavor) on birthdays, holidays and especially one of the most important days of our lives. I was touched when Sugarbee made us a free wedding anniversary cake. We got to relive one of the happiest days of our lives. Thank you Sugarbee!
Oh my goodness the design was amazing!!! Coming back for sure! This is a late review but I ordered my son's 2nd Sloth theme bday cake and my mom's embroidered cake here and let me tell you, super impressed with the baker/designer, 10 stars!!! Only comment I have is that it was so sweet and it was hard to eat... and there was a lot of it. But I am coming back for more because the quality of the design was just amazing!! Oh and when I picked up the staff was super friendly! She helped me and was inviting, I always appreciate good customer service.
We had a very yummy wedding cake from Sugarbee, but a few things did fall flat throughout our process which is why I would really give them 3.5 stars. At the end of the day, the cake taste itself was perfect so I went with 4 stars for the sake of the review, but please keep reading so you can be aware of these things. We did the Medium Tiered Cake Gold Package which included a 2-Tier cake & flower color of our choice and 4 dozen cupcakes (which we upgraded to 6 dozen). At first I was hesitant on the 2-tiers and wondered if we needed 3 for our ~100 person wedding, but 2 honestly ended up being the perfect size because of course not everyone ate it and the tiers have some serious height to them! Before we ordered we also did a cake tasting which included 3 different cake and icing flavors for a total of $40. The tasting was very sizable and definitely worth it. I also liked that they just let us pick it up and eat it on our own without the pressure of them watching us and trying to sell us on it. One thing that was a little frustrating was that when we picked up the cake tasting, the woman told us that if we booked a cake with them, we could credit the $40 to that purchase. However, when we called later to book we were told that woman lied to us and they would not honor it. At the end of the day it was just $40, but I think they should have honored this since their associate said it and we were making a large purchase. Regardless, our wedding was down the street in Redlands so Sugarbee was both convenient and tasted fabulous so we booked them. I'll also note we had vegan and gluten free guests so it was great to accommodate them with their cupcake options. Placing the order was very simple on their website and we went with: CAKE: Textured with lilac (lavender) colored flowers. Funfetti cake with chocolate icing in the inside and vanilla buttercream on the outside. So fun!! CUPCAKES (You can also choose from their other non-cupcake desserts): - 1 dz. GLUTEN FREE vanilla cupcakes w/ vanilla icing - 1 dz. VEGAN chocolate cupcakes w/ VEGAN peanut butter icing - 1 dz. marble cupcakes w/ oreo icing - 1 dz. red velvet cupcakes w/ cream cheese vanilla icing - 1 dz. vanilla cupcakes w/ chocolate icing - 1 dz. strawberry cupcakes w/ hazelnut icing We had my husband's Dad and Dad's GF pick up the cake on the day of the wedding. She used to own her own bake shop and made wedding cakes so we trusted her with the transportation. When she picked it up, she also fully inspected he cake and noticed that it was a little lopsided and the icing was not placed on well at all so much so that she had them go back and fix it. I obviously never knew this until after the wedding was over, but I am so happy she was there to save the day since Sugarbee didn't deliver on the aesthetic mark. She also asked them for extra icing so she could do touchups at the venue, so something to keep in mind for future orders. The lesson of the day is to make sure you are 100% checking the cake before you walk out of the door and be critical of any changes you want made, especially on a wedding cake! Like I said, I never knew this happened during the wedding so for me I was very happy with how everything looked including the flower arrangement. The guests all really liked the cake and the different flavor of cupcakes too and the cake texture and moistness was perfect. After the wedding was over, our Coordinators also boxed all the remaining cake and cupcakes up for us and we got to enjoy it all over the next few days. I never got to try a red velvet cupcake though, those went FAST haha. We also cut a piece of cake off and froze it for our 1 year anniversary next year. I'm already looking forward to it!
Ordered online the number cake for a birthday and was able to custom color what we wanted. I called them to confirm the details of the number cookie cake and they were professional and courteous. I showed them a picture from their Instagram page for inspiration and that I wanted pink and gold colors and the cookie and cake was beyond our expectations. Beautifully made with detail and care, was a gorgeous highlight to the birthday celebration. You can walk in and purchase ready made cake and bakery items daily which is nice if you need something last minute. Will definitely purchase for future celebrations.
We have ordered from Sugarbee a number of times, and the cakes have always been excellent. This last cake however, was above and beyond our imagination. We ordered a cake for my son's first birthday with a dinosaur theme. We were able to provide the team at Sugarbee the image of the dinosaurs in the theme and they provided a phenomenal cake. We went with the funfetti cake with the cookie butter filling. Our guests not only devoured all the cupcakes and the vast majority of the cake, the compliments for the taste of the baked goods are still rolling in a week after the event. They were very flexible with me as it pertained to the number of cupcakes (since some of the RSVP's came in late). We are already planning our other son's birthday with Sugarbee. The cake was picked up and we did not dine in the shop.
I ordered my son's first birthday cake and asked for an "under the sea" theme. I asked for a submarine to be the incorporated into the design since my son's dad is in the navy and currently deployed and they executed my idea so perfectly ! Not only was it beautifully made, but the cake itself was absolutely delicious. The sweetness was just perfectly balanced throughout the cake. Sugarbee you have earned yourself a returning customer :)
I got married on October 28, 2022. We went with Sugarbee for our wedding cake based on word of mouth recommendations. Cannot express how amazing this bakery is!! To start, the tasting was so much fun. The only issue was that we couldn't decide which flavors we wanted to go with because they were ALL good. Once we decided to go with them, I was worried because I had a really specific vision for a non-traditional black/gold cake with some geometric dividers. They totally nailed it. Check the photos, it's exactly what I'd asked for, except somehow cooler. They handled transport to Los Angeles (where we live and where our wedding venue was) and the cake was in perfect condition and assembled on site without any issue. Literally, I've been to so many weddings where the cake is mealy and dry and everybody just picks at it. No. Our cake was GONE by the end of the night and guests are still raving about it. So so happy we decided to go with Sugarbee, thank you for making our wedding so special!!!

For years its always been a traddition to make my daughter a cheesecake for her birthday. Her 16th Birthday she came to me with a picture and said this is the cake I want for my sweet 16th Birthday. This place is my go-to for special occasion cakes! I've been ordering from them since 2018 - a cake for my baby shower, 2nd and 4th birthday! They always nail the design from the inspiration pic I send them. As for taste, the cake is moist! They have a variety of flavors and buttercream fillings to choose from. I've tried their keto offerings, the buttercake, and the variety Valentine box. Everything has been delicious. I highly recommend this bake shop for your dessert needs!
I won't be returning, they messed up my order cupcake order and the cake sucked. I simply order 24 mini chocolates cupcakes and 24 mini vanilla cupcakes. I got 24 mini chocolates and 12 reg size chocolates and 12 reg size vanilla. The owner apologize and refund $45 for the 24 mini cupcakes. The cake was $120. The cake topper was awful, super faded and I wasn't told that edible cake topper wouldn't match same color as the image I sent them? Very disappointed in that. When leaving the store with the cake the troll toys fell off the cake. Also, my husband says the cake tasted like shit, I took a bite and was like yup not eating this. anyways, I trashed it the next day.. we won't be returning.. I don't want to hear sorry in the comments below from the owner.. have a great day. Try the cake before spending money****

This is a quaint, little bakery. The staff is nice. Cake order ready on time. All of the cakes and cupcakes on display are so pretty. There is no doubt this bakery turns out works of art. The only thing holding this bakery back from being just okay to fantastic is their cake recipe. Their cakes and cupcakes are a little on the dry side. If they improve their cake recipe, this would be a wonderful bakery. They have perfected their frosting. The frosting is delightful and not to sweet. read more

I've been coming to Sugar Bees on and off for a while. When my sister was visiting from NC, we were here just about every day! Kind of disappointed in what we got today. I remember the bagels being quite a bit bigger. And the Avocado toast isn't worth $5.95 - just buy bread and an avocado for $3.00 at the supermarket and you could make at least 3 more slices. 3 stars because the waffles are awesome! Just don't get the avocado toast, it's really not worth it. Edit: I posted a picture of a bagel you gave us back in April of 2016, on our first ever visit. It was quite bigger. This was the collective feedback of the people whom they were for and who were disappointed when they opened the box when I handed it to them. This is beyond my expectation. I've been wanting to try this place since December and finally today I've got a chance to try it. Got their soup of the day and The Stingers, I can say I am pleased beyond measure. The chicken is very tender yet crispy on the outside. Their homemade waffles are just to die for. I ordered a vanilla oreo for top tier and mocha chocolate for bottom layer and both were amazingly good. Went to Sugarbee for a cake and cupcakes for a 1-year old birthday party. When I was in the store to order, the clerk (I didn't get her name) was really helpful in finding a relevant theme for the cake which actually helped with the theme of the party! Both the smash cake and cupcakes were delicious. When I was in the store ordering, I saw that they had a TON of orders for the same pick up day - yet, the order was ready when I arrived and I never felt rushed. By the way, I also had an avocado toast and coffee when I visited the first time - and again, very delicious. This is a MUST visit in Redlands. read more

Well i had my wedding on 2/29/20 and we are now getting back to reality so i just had to write a review ! Our wedding cake was amazing, i sent in a picture on Instagram of what i wanted my cake to look like and it was absolutely perfect! It was a mission searching for someone who could create a perfect naked cake and add donuts to it , but when it came down to it, i didn't have to search very far because the bakery was just a short distance away from my venue the mitten building. It was delivered on time and beautiful! I look forward to buying another cake from them and also hope to try some of their keto options which they are always advertising on Instagram, they also look pretty and very delicious! read more

Our cake was PERFECT!!! Exactly what I wanted, from the pictures I sent them. The whole cake was funfetti with the cream cheese, my favorite. It was delicious! We got a section that was left over to take home and we enjoyed it until the last bite. I will definitely be back! They were also easy to work with and quick to respond. I came in for a late lunch and was immediately drawn to the stinger, which is a waffle with crispy chicken, spicy slaw and a red chili sauce. Sounds amazing, but was disappointing. The chicken wasn't crispy at all and kind of tasted like it was microwaved, the slaw came from a prepackaged bag, and the waffle was more on the soggy side and had a sweetness that I felt didn't compliment the sandwich as a whole. On the bright side, I absolutely loved the butter cake here. I'm not quite sure exactly what a butter cake is, but I'll definitely be stopping by again and again for the butter cake and maybe some of the other baked treats. read more

Found this little Gem online and decided to try it, because it was close to home and fell in love instantly, although a little small and lacking in decor in the shop the staff was soo nice and warming and very helpful with all the questions i had and they were very resonal with their prices so i decided to have my best friends 30th Birthday cake made from them and couldn't have been happier with how it turned out! It was beautiful and delicious, so good the following week my friend jessica has he daughters cake made from them. Also tried one onf their lemon cupcakes and it was to die for! Buttery and rich ! I've driven by and wondered what was here and finally decided to try it. Iced Hazelnut Coffee and Strawberry Lemonade were standard. I got the Classic Breakfast and it was pretty much a waffle breakfast sandwich. Surprisingly really good! If you want something light, here it is. I then ordered their Butter Cake, S'mores Cupcake, PBJ Cupcake, and Fruity Pebbles Cupcake. The Butter Cake was an experience because I have never tried anything like it. It is sweet but something keeps making you try a bit more. The cupcakes were amazing overall. I was told by the cashier the baker makes different cupcakes everyday. This place was absolutely delicious. We love looking for local, gluten free places. We so happened to be in Redlands and looked for a good breakfast place. We stopped at another local establishment and ended up getting some pretty weak food. So we threw it away. Stopped here and got two waffles. The first was a ham, cheese and raspberry jam waffle. The second was a creme Waffle. We brought those to a local coffee house and ate them with some delicious coffee. It was also fairly cheap for gluten free. read more

This place is delicious! So far I have tried the creme brûlée waffle, the Sugarbee sandwich, and the Stinger. The Stinger is my favorite sandwich; it has moist fried chicken with Cole slaw and has a slight spicy kick to it. It's amazing. Just try it. The creme brûlée waffle is amazing too! Coffee is decent. Shop is small but cute, and it looks like they do cakes too! Customer service is good. My only complaint is that the waffles are not crispy at all. The second time I came I requested the waffle to be more crispy, and it was pretty much the same. Even if that is how they like their waffles, they should still have the ability to make their waffles more firm if their customers request it. But all in all, I would still go back for the taste. read more

This is a charming little bakery/cafe. I ordered the Pescara Panini. It's a croissant with marinara, pepperoni and mozzarella. It was pretty tasty. The croissant was buttery and flaky. It wasn't huge, and didn't come with any sides...but for $5.95 it was a satisfying sandwich. Raelena took my order and brought me my food as I waited in the adjacent hallway seating area. She was very friendly and asked how my sandwich was. This is a great little bakery to grab a quick breakfast/lunch. It's not a big sit-down establishment where you are going to get enough food to send you into hibernation. Next time I'll have to try some of their sweets! read more

So it was the day of my sisters surprise birthday party and we were in dire need of an emergency cake for a party of 45 people out in Orange County. Since we're coming from Beaumont, I'm looking up bakeries that were on the way. I found this one and called in. They said they had an ice cream themed cake for us. They even texted me a picture of it and it was GORGEOUS so we said "great! Perfect! Be there soon!" So my husband picks up this cake and makes it out to OC. Everyone is "ooh"ing and "ahh"ing over the cake and I'm sure my husband is beaming with pride that it came from Redlands (you know.. show the OC people a thing or two LOL ). I suddenly get a call and they tell me that they've made a terrible mistake. The cake is a fake! They had already sold off their real cake and this one was just the display. I'm just like.. omg... so I call my husband and let him know what happens. Everyone was super disappointed. And the bakery apologizes and offers a full refund plus a small cake and cupcakes. I'm thinking Like the fat kid i am "can I eat all that by myself? No I should share it with people" LOL I happened to be going to a meeting later that day and thought how nice it would be to have these treats for everyone. So I make the arrangements between them and my husband. They stayed about 30-40 minutes past closing so that my husband could pick it up from them. Then we had them at the meeting and THEY WERE SOOOO YUM! Definitely made up for the disappointment earlier in the day. I'll definitely be going back to them for any future cake needs. I heard rave reviews about this place and I was excited to have such a cute and well known bakery right around the corner from me. So I ordered my sons first birthday cake here and I was extremely disappointed. I really do try to be fair about my reviews but I was thoroughly pissed by the end. The service was good, and the cake looked amazing. Exactly what I had asked for. But the cake itself was so bad. I ordered red velvet and buttercream. The cake was dense and dry, and the icing was just awful. I was so mortified when some of my party guests asked if it was box cake. I spent good money on the cake. It was really cute for pictures.. but after the party literally almost no one touched their cake slices and I just had to throw the rest away. Maybe it was a freak accident that just happened to me, who knows. But unfortunately I won't be coming back for future service. ****Update: almost immediately after this, owner reached out and apologized and quickly offered to remedy my situation. So I go pick up my daughters birthday cake (pic on left) which I was already Leary about after conversation with the bakery on Monday (after I called to confirm everything seeing I placed order a few weeks ago!) when I called the gal told me she meant to call me because they couldn't do the flowers and that the owner agreed to take it before she realized it was flowers...funny seeing I sent the pics via email the day I ordered and paid! The girl who took my order said if the baker had any questions she would call, well she never did!! The picture on the right is what I sent and I requested gold eyes to look like those! I'm really lost as to how the owner/baker at this place won Cupcake Wars! I'm so disappointed and the worse part is I now realize this same person eff'd up a baby shower cake I ordered years ago before she ever had this cupcake wars win or bakery! I've seen her other work and know what she is capable of but for some reason the only two cakes I've ever ordered don't meet standards to what I've seen her do! Then the girls at the shop are young and polite but not great with customer service ! One told me how the owner is actually out of town And took all her supplies due to a family emergency!!? I get family emergencies but I don't get why her staff would say she took her supplies! I would think her bakery should be able to work as if she were still there! So clearly an amateur took my cake order is what I have to assume! I asked the girly could they please add the eyelashes and I was told they would have needed to prep that before and that the girl who did my cake wasn't there...which was funny because the girl who did it told me how she was able to make some of the flowers after all....she had originally stated to me that she didn't know how! I appreciate her efforts but this is for my daughters 9th Birthday and nothing is magical about it! For the reputation this place seems to hold I would hope the owner especially could understand my frustrations. Unfortunately I will never do business here again... It's really unfortunate seeing I have seen many many cakes the owner has done!!! UPDATE 7/9/2017 Let's be honest you didn't even realize I never came into your shop to place the cake order! That all my business was over the phone! Clearly there is miscommunication between you and your staff!! I have been very kind and have not "blasted" (as you say) your name, your staffs name or your business name in any social media forum! I easily could have or can! I left reviews of your business here..seeing that's what YELP is for along with your FB business page that has a review section! You by now should realize as a small business this is a small world and you never know who knows who! So while you are complaining about "your problem customer" to others I've been more than respectful and kind in regards to your business and name! Sadly you are strictly review driven and not concerned about quality or customer service. Bakers and decorators who do it for fun could have done better! My daughters birthday and party was on the 8th! Both young ladies that morning knew I was not satisfied! So you can question yourself all day long as to why I took what I paid for and on my child's birthday! Just know I'm the one who didn't get that cute picture of my kid to share blowing out the cake she wanted to badly for her 9th birthday! My daughters favorite fruit tart that VONS made was the perfect dessert and made up for your decorators/bakers short comings. I take great pride in cakes I order just like many other people do that you have done many many cakes for before. I gave great compliment to what I know you are capable of! I would expect your decorators or any bakeries for that fact to be just as top notch as you when you are unavailable! So, stop trying to pass off blame on your customer. I have been following this bakery on the Facebook for a while when I saw they posted a class for Unicorn cake decorating. I signed up straight away. Not only was the class super fun, it was very informative. The cake they gave us to decorate was delicious and the frosting was amazing. Disappointing breakfast. First, the place is tiny. Not very stroller friendly, as there is a step up right at the front door. We were the only ones there and ordered 3 sandwiches. They took a really long time (close to 10 minutes). It was too long for this type of walk-up cafe. Also, it's kind of annoying when there's isn't anywhere to really sit or maneuver your stroller and 8 month pregnant body. The sandwiches were ok. The breakfast panini was TINY and the classic was ok. I felt like the waffle was undercooked. They egg was a pre-mixed egg patty thing. It was a good size though. The few pastries they had out sounded good. I might come back to try one. Edit to add RE: seating There was construction going on in the hallway and the alleyway was closed. I suggest taking a peak around for open tables before getting your food if you hope to sit-down. RE: Accessible entrance I've learned you just have to go around the other side to enter. A sign on the door or even the cashier giving me the tip would have saved some trouble. And my iced tea from spilling! read more

It's so nice to have a bakery near by where I live! I always crave cakes and cupcakes, so the location is perfect. Overall, the impression of this bakery is SWEET. If you don't like sugary, very sweet baked goods, this may not be your place. So far, I've tried The Stinger, Butter Cake, Strawberry Cream Cupcake, and Strawberry Vanilla Cake. The Stinger is a chicken waffle sandwich with spicy cole slaw. It was delicious! One thing though, I wish the chicken was crispier. The texture seemed like it was baked rather than fried (I guess baked is healthier though). The slightly sweet waffle + juicy chicken + crunchy cole slaw went very well together! I really enjoyed it. Now, Butter Cake - like all the reviews say - was SO good. I actually had it twice this week because I was craving them so badly that I HAD to have them. It is very sweet but very addicting! The outside is crunchy, but the inside is buttery, soft, and gooey. It is definitely a must-have if you're here. The cupcake and the cake tasted very similar because I got both in strawberry flavor. The bread is very moist. The buttercream frosting was a little too sweet for me. The cake had a layer of strawberry compost which was really good. I wish they put more of that! I wish they opened at later hours because they close at 4PM. What am I supposed to do if I'm craving dessert after dinner (which is ALL the time)? Also, I hope they get matching boxes for the cupcakes and the cakes in the future. The beautifully decorated cupcakes didn't fit in the plastic container, so they had to put them in the box. They also didn't have a box for the tall cake, so they gave it to me half opened. I bought these for my friends, and the boxes were just not ideal. You can also sign up for their rewards program. You get a point for every dollar you spend. You can use those points to get free coffee/tea (30 points), cupcake or butter cake (50 points), any sandwich (100 points), and t-shirt/hat. They have other items - sweet and savory waffles, paninis, cookies, and more. Sugarbee is a great addition to downtown Redlands. Will be back for more of those Butter Cake! read more
