Yes the salon looks and smells amazing but I received the worst pedicure ever. The polish on 4 toes was totally chipped off within 3 days. My heals still had dry skin and it was basically just a foot rub and not a pedicure. I tried to go back to at least have them do a polish change but there were too busy to even do that. Perhaps I just had the wrong tech but I won't be back. Not sure how this place is so popular based on my service. read more

I had a great experience here and recommend it! I made an appointment about 2 weeks in advance. They called me back a couple of days saying there was a party scheduled at that time and would I consider rescheduling, which wasn't a problem for me. I received a signature pedicure and manicure from Juliette and she was great. Attractive salon and looks clean so I gave it a try 3 times. I agree with a lot of the negative reviews. Forget just walking in. The first time I waited an hour and I asked when was the best time to come on the weekend in the future. I was told call ahead for Sunday afternoon. I did that twice and even with an appointment I had to wait. I agree the staff is not friendly or helpful. Every service is a la carte and an extra charge. Finally found a place I love for pedicures--casual but attentive and welcoming. Great location and reasonable price point. Loved that when I went and wasn't feeling super talkative, the pedicurist picked up on that and let me read the book I'd brought in with just the right amount of chit chat. The service I received was fine but considering the price you're paying, I would expect something above average and it wasn't that. Must've been an off day for Sugarcoat. After reading so many positive reviews, I decided to give it a try. Bring new to the area, I wanted to check out a salon in my new neighborhood. Making an appointment on line was very convenient. I made an appointment for the Essie manicure, not really knowing what it included. I checked in and the technician didn't ask what type manicure I wanted. I realized when I was charged $15, that it wasn't any type of upgraded mani. The express mani I received was poor. My nails were trimmed at different lengths and were very rough around the edges. Not happy! It's going to take a lot of convincing to have me return. Sorry! read more

I always enjoy it more than the traditional salons. it is more expensive, but I find that my gel manicure lasts longer. they have a punch card that gives you a free service after 10. New to the area, I was excited to try this salon because it looked so classy and cute. I made an appointment to ensure I could get in. Problem #1-Parking, or lack thereof. Vinings Jubilee is a popular area but parking is scarce. Problem #2-The wait. Even with an appointment for my pedicure, I waited 20 minutes past appointment time before I was taken, then sat with my feet in the tub for another 20 minutes before the tech arrived. I got in my car in tears! I was very disappointed in my first time experience at this salon! I walked in, they understandable didn't have appointments available, so I made one for an hour and 15 mins later and came back. I asked for an Essential manicure and an eyebrow wax. I asked for the best eyebrow expert they have working today. For some reason I only received an Express manicure and terrible eyebrow job. I asked yhe eyebrow technician several times to remove my brow pencil so she can do my eyebrows without it on. I guess she didn't understand me. My concern is how they look without pencil added. I can easily make them look good using a pencil. I ended up with one eyebrow square and one round. Even the technician knew it was bad and apologized as she showed me the mirror. They rang me out at the register, still charged me for the service (several ladies went to go check to see if they could get permission to remove the charge from my total... the manager apparently told them no, to charge me because "service was rendered." The manager didn't even address me at all. I didn't ask for it to be free, just would've been nice for the manager to acknowledge me and apologize! The lady that checked me out did apologize and said that they lady that did my eyebrows wasn't a regular and just came it to help for the day. (So obviously my request for the best eye brow person was ignored!!!)We all know how bad eyebrows can be devastating! Its nothing worse than leaving a salon upset. I now have to wear a brow pencil to cover up how terrible she made them look! Not to mention she waxed off the end of one of them. I didn't notice this until I got in the car and completely removed the brow pencil. read more

This was my first time going there. Not impressed at all. Very unprofessional, they didn't even have any arm rests on the tables. She put an AEROSOL SPRAY CAN under my hand to lift it. I got a fresh full set with gel polish and the total came out to $85 plus a $12 tip to a final total of $97. Now that is ridiculous. I am not satisfied what so ever. I told her I want them short but not too short or stubby. I paid $97 for her to cut basically the entire tip off and do some filing. I will not be coming back due to the INSANE prices and lack of work to follow up with the price. Mind you I only got gel. I did not get any additional things put on my nails for it to be that much. I have been coming to this place faithfully for about a year. I'm easy to please and usually just get a gel manicure and am on my way. I like this place because it doesn't smell like acrylic nails, and is always clean...the downside is the customer service...You kind of have to welcome yourself most of the time. The second to last time I went in for a gel mani, the girl that did my nails had the WORST attitude, but I let it roll off in case she was just having a bad day. 5 days later, all of my nails were peeling off (5 DAYS!) so I called and asked if they could squeeze me in to fix the polish. The girl that did my nails wasn't there so they had another one do the polish change. She was incredibly sweet and detailed. I left her a $20 tip for correcting someone else's shoddy work. Fast forward 2 weeks and I make an appointment online for a gel mani. Day of my appointment the manager calls and tells me they can't see me and she will be cancelling my appointment. Great way to treat a loyal customer who always leaves $15-$20 tips on manicures, and has referred several high profile clients your way. Unless you like your nail service with a condescending side of attitude, id probably stay away. I know I won't be returning. read more

Went here after reading good Yelp reviews. I called at 4PM and they were able to give me an appointment for a manicure at 6PM (the time i was looking for). The girls were so helpful with explaining gel nails to me, helping me pick the perfect color, and were so attentive to detail and made sure my nails looked perfect. Definitely the best nail salon experience I've had in Atlanta. It is a bit more expensive than your standard walk-in nail salon but for me its definitely worth it. read more

Total rip off! Saw great reviews, but was severely disappointed. Had an appointment, but was seated 45 min late. I had to repeat myself 4 different times to the same person regarding what kind of manicure I was getting. I made my appointment with the fiji manicure and I paid way too much to have the hot stone message for about a minute. I got a gel finish and there were tiny bubbles on a few of the nails by the time they dried, and the manicurist said she couldn't see what I was talking about. Today was my first visit to Sugarcoat. I called around 2:30 on a Wed and was given an appointment for 4 for a gel manicure. It was fairly busy so I highly recommend scheduling an appointment. The place was really nice and the decorations were calming. Linda took care of me and did a great job. She walked me through each step (my first time getting gel) and took her time to make sure everything was done perfectly. She didn't rush to finish like other places I have been to. I can't speak for the other ladies there but Linda had great positive energy. Everyone seemed to be in a good mood and laughing including the clients. When I first walked in it was very inviting and the staff is amazing. Now I am a regular now and everyone knows me by my name. I go to Susan she is the absolute best. Worst place ever. I made an appointment for 2 mani pedis a week an advance. My friend and I each called twice 30mins before the appointment, each time the receptionist verified our appointment for 2:30 for 2 mani pedis. We arrived at 2:30, they didn't start the pedicure until 2:50. To make it worst they did my friends feet only. I asked when will they start mine, the nail tech responded "O! You guys are together?" I said "yes, I made an appointment for two" at 3:00 they started my feet. After finishing, they told us to move aside to make room for the big bridal party. At 3:30, one of the nail techs ask "did you all need anything else?" My friend said "yes we haven't gotten our manicures yet" so the nail tech then says "O! You only had appointment for a pedicure" we then said "no, we called about four times today and each time you all verified that I had 2 mani pedi set for 2:30 today" the receptionist then said "sorry the person who answered the phone left already" by this time it's 4pm and they sat us to start our nails. It's 4:30 and no one has come to start our nails. We decided it was time to leave. As we headed to pay for the pedicure service, we noticed they charged us an extra $10. We asked why, they said because we were walk-ins and did not have appointments! We demanded to speak to a manager. I will never go here again, they are very unorganized and unprofessional. Disappointing is how I can rate sugarcoat. The thing is, for a nail salon that's been around forever, the technicians and the aesthetic is upheld and kept to order. The issue comes in the service. I am writing this as I am walking out of the salon at 2:20pm with my nails bare and untouched and my legs wet and pruned from sitting in cold water for nearly an hour. My appointment was initially for 1:30 pm and I called ahead to share that I would be there 2 minutes late due to traffic in the parking lot. The receptionist shared that they were also running behind. This would have been the perfect opportunity for her so say that they were actually understaffed and if we could reschedule, but she neglected to do so. My boyfriend and I wanted 45 minutes in our chairs, being told that our technicians would come soon but no one ever came. The disappointing part of all of this was that two women came in without an appointment but claiming the booked one online and they were taken before us. We left without getting our nails done. I should mention that they did give us a $50 credit for our troubles which covers at least 1 pedicure. Hopefully I'll update this when I go back... if they take me next time. read more
