This review is full of TMI, but whatever! For the sake of yelp, I will do it! This place is located right in Old Town Tustin inside "Salon Gallery". Julia specializes in sugar waxing down there. You know what I mean by down there - there as in hair. The downside about this place is that it is more expensive than regular waxing. I found this place on yelp when I was searching for a closer place to do my bikini wax and decided to try sugar waxing since people say it's less painful. Well, let me tell you - in the moment pain is pain. I don't know if it is "less painful", but it definitely pulls out more of the hair follicles and doesn't cause any hair breakage, resulting in less in-grown hairs. Sugar waxing is also ideal for those with more sensitive skin. I hadn't waxed in about 4 months or so, so Julia promised me that the next time would be waay less painful. I can only pray. This time around I put on "No Scream Cream" and popped in some Tylenol to help ease the pain. The pain is worth it to me cuz I love that feeling after of being as clean as a baby's butt. By the way, Julia is super nice - I couldn't have asked for a more entertaining, bubbly, sweet person. She is a total professional and made me feel completely at ease even as she was ripping away at my privates. Edit: The overall experience was great, but after a couple weeks I did find a few ingrown hairs, which I usually don't get with regular waxing - Odd. I think I'll stick with regular waxing just because it's cheaper and there doesn't seem to be too much of a difference between the two.. read more

Julia is THE BEST! First of all, I'll share with you that I am a hairy beastie...I'm about three hairs away from being a full-on Sasquatch. I don't know who was braver: me for wanting a Brazilian bikini sugaring prior to my trip to Costa Rica or Julia for taking me on as a client. I pilfered a Darvocet from my neighbor's purse, slapped on the No Scream Cream, and headed to Julia's. Her work room is impeccably clean and yet warm and inviting. While the process itself isn't comfortable, waxing hurts A LOT more. I always had a terrible problem with ingrown hairs whenever I would wax (bikini, legs, underarms, didn't matter...my hair was pissed off), but not with sugaring. I was a smooth as baby's ass for nearly two full weeks with nary an ingrown in sight (and I received RAVE reviews from my 'happily captive' audience :^)). Sisters, spend the money. Go see Julia. This is my first time going to Julia for Brazilian sugaring service. Julia is truly a sugaring expert, with over ten years of experience, she is very skilled and thorough. She mixed different textured sugars together to get a good firm sugar consistency that really pulls out the hair from the root instead if yanking it just to get the job done. My favorite part is watching her do her thing and seeing how all the hair fully comes out. Julia is so knowledgable it makes me so happy. It allows me to feel secure that she is working on me and knows what to do. Super down to earth and so caring. After sugaring, she has a lighted microscope that she uses to find the baby stubborn hairs that wasn't picked up by the sugar. She really takes her time to get EVERYTHING... Ok, first timer here for anything other than the traditional shaving .... I am also pregnant (7 months to be exact) .... I really liked Julia and she did a great job. She was very accommodating. The only thing is that the coupon should be clear. It didn't state that you had to use it for a Brazilian. Just needs to be more specific. I purchased the $55 for $70. My total was $75 and she said I couldn't use it for my services and that people usually use it for a Brazilian. I emailed Yelp and they agreed with me and refunded my money. She's close to my work and that's why I wanted to try her out. I didn't have time that week to drive to my usual sugarist in Costa Mesa. I was already breaking out and broke out some more after being sugared... which happens with my other sugarist as well. It's just how my skin is. So pretty much the same thing for $30 more but a little bit closer. read more

Her professionalism and desire to make you feel comfortable makes the entire experience much less awkward. Julia is the absolute best! Though sugaring is a bit more expensive if you have sensitive skin or are prone to ingrown hairs (like I am), it's worth the extra cost. Sugaring is better for quite a few reasons: 1) for sensitive skin it isn't as irritating. Instead of my skin being red for a few days afterward, like it is with waxing, it's only a bit pink for about 30 minutes. 2) The ingrown hair problem is virtually gone, or at least reduced by like 90%. 3) It doesn't hurt as much as waxing (just avoid the week before your period) 4) Julia specifically is professional, friendly and always reminds you of your appointments. Julia not only helps with my regular sugaring, but also sugared my legs for my wedding and helped me get rid of all the problems I had with ingrown hairs on my legs. The transformation is amazing. I would recommend sugaring, and especially Julia to anyone who is frustrated and done with razors, depilatory creams, waxing and figuring out how to get rid of unwanted hair. read more
