Just had an exquisite date night at SukhoThai. Even though we went on a Friday, we easily found parking on the street and a wonderful table with a view of Magazine Street. The drinks, Service and the food were all excellent. We started with Spicy Edamame. My spouse was a lite eater and ordered the appetizer sample. I enjoyed the sizzling salmon. I have been craving Thai and was excited to find in and enjoy the Sizzling Salmon. I've ordered it to go and it was absolutely delicious! I was disappointed this time. The broccoli was soft and overcooked and my entree was missing Kaffir lime leaves, and sweet basil! These are key for flavor!! Surprisingly , there were two thin pieces tri-color peppers. Yet, green beans were added and they are not an ingredient in this dish. The first time I ordered there were lots of vegetables, my favorite! I don't like to send food back so I didn't. I enjoyed the Shrimp in a Pouch as a appetizer. They were served hot and fresh. I love the pretty pouch presentation. They were a great choice and delicious. I also enjoyed the Black & Gold Sake, it was my first time trying it and it was a 10 for me! It was balanced between sweet and dry. I chose for it to be served warm. Definitely recommend! read more

I ordered the Pad Thai with shrimp, and the noodles had a nice balance of sweet, tangy, and savory flavors. The meal was enjoyable overall, though it took a little while to come out since the restaurant was fairly busy that evening. read more

Our waiter totally forgot we existed for about 40 minutes but the food was so good I'm willing to ignore it. They have rotating daily drink specials - tuesday-friday happy hour, extended happy hour on fridays, saturday deals on beer and seltzers (get the peach seltzer!), and sunday cocktail specials. Most of our food (kee mao fried rice, lime leaf curry, coconut ice cream) was to die for, but the chocolate lava cake had no "lava" to it. Good for casual, reasonably priced, and fun dining, but don't choose it over some of the better spots on Magazine. read more

I ordered takeout from here and the food was pretty good!! I got the pad see ew with pork belly and that was delicious. The pork belly had some crispy pieces which I also really liked. My friend got the Green Curry with chicken-- SO GOOD. i'll be getting that next time. I got the Sukhothai sampler and the veggie spring rolls were my favorite. I didn't like the shrimp sack or ahi tuna as much-- it wasn't bad, just nothing to rave about. I didn't forget to take pictures of everything, but everything looked and tasted fresh. The presentation was also nice and I appreciate they didn't just throw it in the box like some places. We had to go to the bar to get our to go order and there was a lot of DoorDash drivers standing there so I do think they should probably designate an area for them to stand rather than in the way of the servers/guests inside the restaurant. I guess that's easier said than done sometimes but I would recommend ordering takeout from here! It only took about 20 minutes and it was ready when I got there. A great restaurant and in my opinion, better than the Marigny location. It's in a cute spot and looks very fancy, even though it's affordable and delicious. Food was marginally better and this spot felt like a fancy restaurant with a full bar and attentive server. Definitely recommend a visit here if out of town. It's worth a detour, especially paired with a post dinner walk on magazine st. The Panang curry itself was delicious and creamy. I ordered a 3/5 spice level and it was noticeable that there was spice, but didn't cause me any pain or take away from the dining experience at all. All of the reviews you see about the terrible service at the Uptown location are absolutely correct. Upon arriving a friend and I had to wait about 5 minutes at the hostess stand before someone showed up to get us seated. Once seated our waiter approached us and seemed to be annoyed that we had questions about the food/drink menu. He then took our order and never checked on us again until he brought us the check. No water refills or checking to see if we needed anything. It was hands down the worst service i've experienced in New Orleans. Although I enjoyed the food, I do not intend to visit this restaurant again. read more

SukoThai on Magazine St. recently moved to a new location on Magazine- a lovely bright space with abundant natural lighting during the day; a separate bar and dining room with enough seating to avoid a long wait for a table. I tend to order the same thing every time I go, which is something that I need to change. So my review is limited to the the always delicious Thai tea and Khao Soi noodle soup with seafood. Khao Soi is Chang Mai yellow curry filled with yummy egg noodles, crunchy noodles, red onion, pickled mustard greens and your choice of protein (I always get seafood). This is a consistently delicious dish that has a stronghold over me at any Thai restaurant. The service is always quick and friendly. Street parking is mostly easy in the area. read more

Drinks were odd, not terrible, but wouldn't order a cocktail from them again, personally. Food was edible, but it wasn't my favorite Thai food in the city. Worst dining experience. From getting seated near the loud bar inspite of plenty of empty tables inside to no waiter for 15 minutes. Had to ask for a waiter after 15 minutes. surly expression when we asked for water without ice. Not once did he check on us or refill the water. Wanted to shoo us out. Had to ask for dessert menu. Had to flag down the waiter for extra rice. Humiliating experience. a bit more expensive than the typical thai place in new orleans but not bad! my brother and i got the spiciest level for our drunken noodles and yellow curry with chicken, but it wasn't too spicy. our server was nice; we had to flag him down once for water. (they were short staffed). the food was good and came out in 15 minutes. plenty of seating from what i can tell. ambiance is casual/sophisticated - not too pretentious but definitely not too casual. read more

The food here is good although it often didn't seem as good as the original Marigny location BUT they do have booze here so that makes it more convenient in some ways than the old original location which has moved to a new location and since also added booze. For the price I think I much prefer the food at Secret Thai or Lime Leaf but this place in some ways is probably a bit more "authentic" if you want to be a purist. The atmosphere at the original Uptown location kept getting better and better and the interior had lots of space I always found it a bit too "modern" for my taste. Since they have recently moved to a new location even closer to where I live it is certainly very convenient to visit but so far the new space seems smaller, the service is less attentive and the food isn't yet quite as good as it was at the prior location. I expect they will certainly have some re-start issues with getting back to being fully staffed and going at full steam again but I expect they will get their eventually. So far I've tried their brand new spot three times and it does seem to get a bit better each time but it is still not quite back to where it was yet. Overall this is a good addition to the area and if you want a bit of a change it can be a nice spot for a quick Thai experience.
