This restaurant has limited parking on the street, but there are parking garages in Chinatown if you're uncomfortable to park on the street. Slight bit of a walk, but you'll survive. The restaurant itself is pretty small, a little tight knit. Maybe that's due to location, but they have a reasonable seating arrangement for a narrow shop. I called in to place an order, and they were very prompt. When I got there, I was immediately acknowledged by not only the cashier/server, but also by one of the packing cooks to help expedite process. Amazing. We came to this block for a different spot that was supposed to be open till 6 but told us they were closed at 540. So we walked around and found Mr Liu. We only stopped in for a quick snack. We got the dumplings and wings. My boyfriend , who is a professional chef , said they were th best wings he's ever had. They split each wing in half which made for a crispier bite, but somehow also soft and juicy. The dumplings were recommended from the server. I brought my husband here a few months ago and frankly, it was great dining in and he absolutely loved the #4 and I thoroughly enjoyed my #8. Back then, hands down, it would have gotten 5 stars. However, recently, we have been ordering to go and each time, the meat seems to be extremely minimal with mostly soup which is extremely disappointing. The last couple of times for to go orders were quite interesting with the waiter getting into an argument with someone in the back and yelling back from the dining area which startled all of the diners. And the last time I went for an order arriving at 7:30 pm, I was advised that they were busy and it was going to be 25 mins wait which I said was fine. I couldn't help but feel a little put off like he was trying to discourage me from ordering. Two more people came in about 5-10 mins later and they were turned away as he said they had ran out of noodles and rice. I get that they close at 8 pm and coming from a restaurant background, that definitely wasn't a professional way to handle that. After a failed search for Luo Si Fen in Oakland, my friend and I ended up at Mr Liu Noodle House instead, settling for some regular noodles instead. The interior is clean and nicely decorated, and the staff were very friendly and attentive. It seems to be a family-run restaraunt as their kid was doing homework in the corner (classic Chibese restaraunt stereotype haha). I ordered the Clear Broth Noodle Soup, which was quite good. The beef was tender, and the noodles were buttery. Additionally, the broth really lives up to its name, as it was really refreshing. We also ordered Sweet and Sour Pork Ribs to share, which, although greasy, were quite good. However, many of the pieces were mostly cartilage. The broth is a mild beef flavor with a good fresh cracked pepper on it. The noodles had great texture and chew. Beef was flavorful and tender. Surprisingly the green beans were my least favorite of the meal. They were kinda tough and didn't have much flavor. A lot of other places have garlic/seasoning they put on them to crank them up a notch. Plain is how I would describe them. We added the chili oil on the table to them to help eat more of them. The chili oil is tasty. The star of the meal was the wonton in that delicious chili oil. I love dumpling hours and this wonton was better than anything I've had at dumpling hours. Good combination of Sichuan pepper and fresh cracked pepper to give you a contrasting taste but still pepper. Texture on it was great, same with the filling. Loved them. The menu is very straightforward, with one page of appetizers/dumplings and one page of noodles. We shared #16 wonton with spicy chili oil for $14.99 and asked for less chili oil, since I can't handle my space very well. For my entree, I got the #6 beef noodles in clear broth ($14.99) with no green onion and cilantro. They gave us some complimentary pickled radish to start. This was good by itself or with the noodles. The wontons were delicious and the chili oil added a really good flavor. The beef noodles were also solid. I liked the broth flavor a lot and you get a LOT of noodles (I had to take some noodles to go since I couldn't finish it), but I wish they gave more beef and veggies to go with the huge portion of noodles. I started pairing the wontons with the noodles after I ran out of beef. Also, the bok choy tasted almost raw; they should've cooked it for another minute or two before serving imo. I was there on a warm Saturday in July, around 4pm. As I entered, the friendly server told me to sit anywhere. There's booths on the left side, and small tables on the rightside. The restroom is in the back, just pass the service area. Ordering is done using a regular menu with pictures. I ordered: - Braised Pork Ribs Noodles, Spicy - Sliced Beef Shank & Tripe in Chili Sauce - Soda and Ice Water I was a bit hesitant about having spicy noodles on a warm day, so I loaded up on drinks with lots of ice. My server didn't speak English very well. But she used a smartphone app to translate our conversation. As a good Yelper, I asked alot of questions. She told me they were ownership partners with Chong Qing Noodle House in Alameda. So if you like that restaurant, you have to try Mr Liu Noodle House. The Braised Pork Rib Noodles were very good. My order didn't quite match the menu photo. But the pork ribs were tender and easy to eat. I asked for spicy, because the spicy heat brings out the flavor of the food. I stumbled upon this "hole in a wall" restaurant after my chiropractor session. This place did not disappoint! Super slow Saturday morning, but I was promptly greeted and seated. I ordered the braised pork ribs noodle soup. The price for the serving size was just a great as how it tasted! Well, dang. If that wasn't some of the best wonton soup I've ever had. I had the spicy one and I hit a pepper flake on the first bite and coughed a little but oh, that broth was spectacular. I assume everything was house-made because everything tasted fresh. My friend and I got there right before a group of about 20 people flooded the place.
