Love this place. The owner used to run the original Chong Qing noodle house on Park Street in alameda and I was so bummed when the ownership changed because the food there went downhill afterwards, so I'm glad they started. New restaurant and this is a much better location for them. Get in on this place before it gets hella popular and crowded. Delicious broths, friendly waitstaff, cute little booths, decent noodles and dumplings.

We came here for lunch on a Monday and we got seated quickly. Server was pleasant. It is a low key chill place. We got #3 house special Zhajian noodles 15.99. This was yummy. Good sauce and noodles. Definitely had enough sauce. Flavorful. #4 House special Oroginal Beef Noodle Soup. 17.99 Soup was flavorful. The beef was very tender. Loved it. #19 Chengdu Special Dumplings 16.99 - appeitizer It came with 8 decent size dumplings. Needed a bit more flavor to it though. Overall it was delicious and I would be down to come back again. However, I feel like it was a bit too pricey for Oakland Chinatown. $17 for 8 dumplings seems a bit much for an app.

This place is great. Very friendly staff. Food tasted really good. Inside looked nice! Prices seem slightly above average, but if you're getting take out the containers were really good quality and prices are worth it for good food with nice flavors. 5 stars beef noodle soup. Everything about this soup was good. Broth had nice rich flavor. Beef was tender and tasted good. Noodles had a nice chew to it. Yum. 5 stars wonton in spicy chili oil. Good amount of spice. Kind of medium spice level. Good flavor and the wonton wrapper was good. Filling was very tasty. 5 stars salt and pepper chicken wings. Had a lot of flavor like the rest of the dishes. Skin was nice and crispy. Chicken meat was nice and juicy. 4.5 stars Zhajiang noodles. Plenty of noodles. Just the right amount of meet and sauce.

Amazing. We came to this block for a different spot that was supposed to be open till 6 but told us they were closed at 540. So we walked around and found Mr Liu. We only stopped in for a quick snack. We got the dumplings and wings. My boyfriend , who is a professional chef , said they were th best wings he's ever had. They split each wing in half which made for a crispier bite, but somehow also soft and juicy. The dumplings were recommended from the server. They were spicy but came with a sauce that was slightly sweet also. 10/10 will be back. The place was small but super cute and cozy. Fun date night for sure.

Summary: Tasty and legit regional Chinese Details: The latter is according to my Chinese wife, at least, who has a lot more experience than I with regional Chinese. That all said, we've been back to Mr Liu multiple times now, and it's easily one of our favorite noodle spots in that part of East Bay. You can't really go wrong with any of their noodle or dumpling dishes, with all the dough and noodles being handmade and cooked just right, lending to a nice, chewy texture. That said, we're big fans of their version of zhajiang noodles! And if you're looking for something a bit more unique, we've even bigger fans of their Chengdu special dumplings, which we've not come across anywhere else in the Bay at least: savory, spicy, numbing, umami, and sweet, meaning there's a whole ton of flavor in every bite, yet neither this nor anything else has been overly salty for us. Accessibility: The restaurant is a bit on the smaller and more narrow side, with some elevated seating, but the first few tables by the entrance shouldn't pose too much of an issue for accessibility.

Solid bowl of noodles (#4 original), and all the beef chunks were perfectly cooked. Deep flavor in the broth and it wasn't too oily. Service was friendly and speedy even in the mid-afternoon lull while the staff is having their own meal. Seating along the right side was slightly lower than the tables typically would be, which I only noticed since the edges bump up against your arms. Not a big deal though I might opt for the booths next time. Will be back!

Happened to stop by since a restaurant that was near here ended up being closed. Really enjoyed the good service and the food came out really fast. I got to try the Clay Pot Rice Noodles with Braised Pork, probably wouldn't pay the extra dollar for the Clay Pot vs. just a normal bowl. Highly recommend trying the Mala Mushrooms as an appetizer as well! Overall, very solid. (3.7/5 stars)

Thought their special original beef noodle soup would be more spicy because the picture looked scary... Maybe they thought I can't handle the heat. Well they're not wrong, but dang I was hoping for a good spicy experience. Food came fast! They have many noodles option.. I'd definitely come back and try when I'm back in the area.

    6. Beef Noodles in Clear Soup

My friends and I came here on a weekday afternoon, and there were a few parties of people eating here. While most of the group ordered #4, their Special Original Beef Noodle Soup, I ordered #6, their Beef Noodles in Clear Soup. For a big group, they gave our orders quickly within 15 minutes. The portion was quite large, with many thin noodles with a small portion of beef. I was able to finish the noodles and broth in one sitting. The Special Original Beef Noodle Soup was not too spicy, and I enjoyed the texture of the noodles. For an oddly colder day in May, Mr Liu Noodle House satisfied my cravings as a yummy soup restaurant.

Parked on the street at a meter. Ordered the beef noodle soup and green beans. Both were delicious. I got non spicy but would def recommend the regular to get the full flavor-- it's not too spicy! The red color intimated me lol. Would definitely come back. The beef was tender and the green beans were very flavorful. Service was good, ambiance is casual.

Well priced and flavorful. Server was friendly and helpful with recommendations about spice level. For those who like spice, "extra spicy" isn't that hot, but good for flavor. Well lit and clean with nice neutral vibe. Even though I'm not suppose to eat carbs I'm definitely going to have to try some other dishes here anyways.

After a failed search for Luo Si Fen in Oakland, my friend and I ended up at Mr Liu Noodle House instead, settling for some regular noodles instead. The interior is clean and nicely decorated, and the staff were very friendly and attentive. It seems to be a family-run restaraunt as their kid was doing homework in the corner (classic Chibese restaraunt stereotype haha). I ordered the Clear Broth Noodle Soup, which was quite good. The beef was tender, and the noodles were buttery. Additionally, the broth really lives up to its name, as it was really refreshing. We also ordered Sweet and Sour Pork Ribs to share, which, although greasy, were quite good. However, many of the pieces were mostly cartilage. This place is a nice spot if you are craving some homey Chinese food, but it doesn't stand out much. I'm glad we came though.

One of the best Sichuan cuisines in the Bay Area. Loved their spicy noodle dishes and meaty dishes. The hostess was friendly and welcoming. I have visited here several times. My bd buddy also loved the dishes. We especially loved the sliced shank and tripe!

You know a dish is good when you tell yourself, "Oh, I'm just going to try a little bit of this."…read moreAnd then you can't stop eating it. This was my experience with pretty much every dish I ordered on a recent trip to Yu Yu Za Zang. I'll admit this is one of those places I've walked or driven past for years and have always meant to try but just never got around to it. But I finally had an opportunity to drag my cousin/regular dining buddy with me. We ordered Yang Jang Pi (also known as Double Skin in some places), regular jajang (spelled zazang here) myun, and tang sue yuk (beef - which is the traditional Korean meat for this dish). My cousin and I are huuuuuge fans of the Double Skin at Great China in Berkeley, so the Double Skin here had a pretty high bar to reach. We were pleasantly surprised to find it more than held its own. The portions of everything were very generous, and the mustard dressing was nice and spicy. Perhaps the veggies were not quite as crunchy as Great China's, so not as much of a variety of textures, but this Yang Jang Pi was still delicious, and I still think about it days after our visit. The jajang (zazang) myun was also very generously portioned and pretty tasty. I haven't had any in Oakland in a while, so hard to say how it compares, but I would definitely eat it again. The beef tang sue yuk was incredible. Again, large portion, perfectly crispy outside, tender beef inside, and one of the best sweet and sour sauces I've ever had with this dish. The vibe is simple and clean; nothing fancy, but I went for the food, so I was fine with that. The service was also friendly and fast. There were barely any people there on a Saturday evening, which made me sad, because the food really is good. I can't wait to try the rest of their menu. They also have soju and beer. Although Hanshin Pocha next door is popular, I could see Yu Yu Za Zang being a decent spot for delicious, very reasonably priced food that one can share with friends while having a couple of rounds of drinks. And in this economy, aren't we all looking for a good deal?
