Great value for all-you-can-eat sushi and milk tea! The sushi and sashimi were made to order so it tasted fresh. They have a huge variety of sushi rolls, and the food was delicious. There was also a great selection of desserts to choose from. I only wish I had a bigger appetite so I could have tried more of the different rolls! Super annoyed with this location. I go to Sukiya often - both locations. I just left for lunch and I had three cards with a stamp - the card says collect three stamps for a free lunch buffet. Upon paying I was denied the free lunch because the stamps are on separate cards. What makes it so annoying is that every time I've dined here, I've said I've been here before and when they bring the check they bring a new card with a stamp....i didn't even think to have them stamp the same card because I've never not been able to combine something like this. Super lame policy. And a crap way to treat a repeat customer. The two star rating is how bugged I am about the stamp situation. I would rate the sushi & buffet a 4 and our server was a 5, management a 1 for denying my freebie. read more

Food was average and just didn't feel fresh. If you are from Utah the sushi was on par with Sushi House in AF. If you are looking for an all you can eat sushi place since Sushi House shut down id recommend this place but just for the lunch price. I would come here again but never for the dinner price. I also wouldn't recommend the special dinner price since the nigiri and lobster are quite small. Service and ambiance were great but if you're looking for really good sushi this isn't the place. First time coming here and it did not disappoint! Wow, I was very impressed. We came on a Saturday evening and our party of 4 was seated right away. Our waitress took excellent care of us. The restaurant was very clean. I appreciated the open kitchen concept as well, so you could see your sushi being made. For $33 a person, you can get unlimited sushi and buffet (the milk teas are included too!). The buffet had some good authentic offerings. The braised pork was tasty and I enjoyed the gyoza. They have a large selection of fresh seafood as well. I also enjoyed the crab legs dipped in the warm butter. The wagyu and unagi fresh rolls were also super tasty. The sushi was the highlight. The firecracker and the Lexie rolls were my favorite. They had so much flavor from the smoked salmon. The rolls were good quality and very fresh for an all you can eat. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING Our server was so sweet, and she did such a good job showing us around the menu and how everything worked and was included. There was a few things we could've missed and she made sure we tried everything we could. There was 7 of us in our party and all of us only found one thing we were meh on, everything else was literally a 10/10, in both the buffet and the sushi. All of the food was absolutely delicious. A co-worker recommended Sukiyaki and I finally got to go! The establishment is cute, and has a nice vibe. I went for lunch and I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the buffet. There's all you can eat sashimi and tobiko! Wow! Lily was our server and was very kind and courteous. She gave us some recommendations on rolls. Do keep in mind that the rolls are very Americanized. The rolls are very much covered in salty sauces, and some are heavily stuffed with cream cheese. Some love that and some prefer more simple and authentic. In my opinion, Sukiyaki is an experience and I'd like to experience it some more. read more

Here is an updated review. It has been about 5 months and then now again 9-10 months since my first visit on my birthday in February. The 5 months after my birthday husband and I went just ourselves on our way home from a trip, we were starving and just wanted good food. Remembering back in Feb. that this place was really good we decided to try it again. We couldn't even finish our food before we.........got sick... it was so sad! We both left feeling super ill and nauseous. We said we would never try again, however fast forward to Christmas where only Asian places are open and no one wants to cook, my family decided let's go here. Being another 5/6 months down the road we thought oh it would be fine. Nope. This time however I was the only one who walked out feeling sick. I will not be going back. It is not fun at all paying over $100 just to get sick....TWICE!! We think that the sushi and meat that is on the buffet may dip into danger temps hence the sickness.Maybe if you stick with the made to order rolls you wouldn't get sick because that's what my husband did and he didn't get sick. Additionally, they have a standard Buffet style setup with cooked foods, more raw options like sashimi and nigiri, as well as endless crab legs, oysters, and clams. They even had sea snails on the menu when we went! For anyone hesitant to eat raw fish, I highly recommend the cowboy roll. A5 wagyu beef on top with a bit of asparagus and a mango inside, it was amazing! The service is prompt and ever-present, you won't find a prettier Buffet anywhere. The decor is really tasteful, colorful, and vibrant. I would highly recommend this place if you can afford the price tag. I love the interior giving Japanese home vibes and the staff giving you the upmost respect. Seafood spread of both cold and hot foods were of a significant variety. There were other non-seafood items too. I got too full so I didn't even get a chance to sample the desserts. We visited Sukiya on a busy Saturday night and the service was amazing! The food was just okay nothing to write home about, very limited buffet options and they were all decent. The sushi rolls we ordered were not great they were bland, lacking flavor. I understand that AYCE sushi isn't always the best but the way this restaurant presents its self in with the decor music and amazing staff you would think the sushi would be so much better. We ordered 3 rolls and couldn't finish them as it tasted like nothing is the best way to describe it. Again I can't say enough about the service it was amazing but the food just was not it. We're used to Las Vegas AYCD sushi and their prices. Sushi and sashimi were fresh, a bit bland though. Nice attentive service. Sashimi was a bit bland but sushi were unique. We loved the hand rolls; huge portions! Tried a Baked sushi but not a fan of the sauces; a bit too much. They have crab legs and oysters for dinner too. Overall, a good price. First of all the place was absolutely gorgeous on the inside and. There was a lot of space. The service was not as good though cause our waitress was very quiet and we couldn't hear her plus she forgot the tea we ordered. As for the food it was a both bad and good. It honestly depends on what you get, but I do recommend getting the Sushi Rolls and the Seafood cause for an all you can buffet with fresh king crab and oysters especially during the season is an amazing steal! However the cooked foods such as the chow mein were not so good, as they were very bland in flavor sometimes just not good (except for the steamed custard buns, those were delicious). The milk teas were also not good cause they were watery, and most of the desserts were not good either which was very disappointing since they had a whole display for them. Overall it was an average experience and it depends on what you get from there, but I suggest listening to my advice. read more

I have not yet had the opportunity to have sushi from a place like Japan so my review should be taken with a grain of salt. HOWEVER the food was amazing! I got the $40 premium all you can eat dinner and tried A5 Wagyu Nigiri for my first time and it was probably the best thing I have ever eaten. Service was also great and they would check on us often to see if we needed to order any more sushi with our all you can eat dinner. The ambiance is top tier out of the places I have been to. The ceiling was covered in flowers and to me they looked real but idk this fake stuff is getting pretty realistic Again on the food and to kinda explain the video. NEVER HAD I EVER UNTIL I ATE HERE had sushi made in tinfoil heated with a fire and that tasted amazing! I have been to the one in Midvale and this was my first time trying the Orem location. It's the same and I think it's even better. The cooked food is more fresh than the other locations. I love love love the sashimi and oysters, they are so fresh. They kept bringing out new food. We got the premium option, lobsters and waygu sushi were both fantastic. We will definitely come back. Only thing can improve is the drink selection for milk tea. The options aren't that good. I wish there's just the regular milk tea and include boba too. read more

I love the atmosphere and ambiance. Very stylish and cute. The staff are all very friendly and welcome you with an authentic japanese greeting. The food was not my favorite. We tried four sushi rolls and they were enjoyable but not what I would come back for. Most of the rolls seemed to be trendy without much thought to texture. The presentation was good but the texture was all the same unlike good sushi ive had before. The buffet was good albeit cheap. The walnut shrimp was great if I came back I would get that again. Nothing else at the buffet really interested me. The tonkatsu tasted store bought. The desserts were ok. The cream puffs and eclairs were store bought cause I have purchased the same box of sarah lees before and they are good but have no place at a buffet charging as much as this place. The cakes were hit or miss. The taro pudding was awful. It was a cube of gelatin and tasted like the worst taro ever. Tiramisu was good although it had this runny milk in it that I wasnt aware was in tiramisu. I tried four pieces of the rainforest cake. I can't remember what it was called but it was yellow and green. The first two melted in my mouth and were very light and refreshing. The next batch was spongey and not nearly as good. I wouldn't come back. But if you like cheap buffets with great service and a variety of food to try then youll like it. read more

A friend took me to lunch at the newly opened Sukiya in Orem. It was their 2nd day. We had the buffet. I need to make it clear: We had a good meal! The staff was outstanding, even excellent! The physical and aesthetic attributes of the restaurant are above average! It also wasn't perfect. I'm a harsh critic. I am literally a professional fault-finder. I understand how rocky the first few weeks of a restaurant can be, even if it's the 2nd location. I would absolutely return, even pay for friends to have dinner with me, even though it's a little pricey and i am not wealthy. First off, while billed as a "japanese buffet", it's not a place where you can get katsu or donburi. There's no ginger beef or sukiyaki. It's sushi with sides. I wish one of them was korokke. I wish one of them was karaage. Maybe okonomiyaki too. The sushi was generally good but with some odd choices. Like unagi w/ avacado on a crust of bread instead of rice. The "sushi sandwich" looked like stacked sashimi and some veg, didn't try it. There's a "sushi donut" i also did not try - looks very awkward without a knife. And a "sushi taco" with like a regular Ortega corn hard shell that i also did not try. There's a problem with the sushi buffet layout where it doesn't list ingredients. You would have to refer to the menu for the ingredients, and it's a plastic card the size of a place mat. I have a shellfish allergy, and i know you can generally see shrimp in sushi, but not necessarily. This far inland i presume that "crab" salad in a sushi roll is really alaskan whitefish surimi, which is valid and tasty. At least to a guy with a shellfish allergy. There are a lot of specialty rolls on the menu that you can have made as part of your buffet, which is nice, though most of what is on the menu but not laid out at the buffet is in the category of items that have a lot of mayo and other sauces on them and/or tempura fried or containing tempura. Not really my jam. The spicy tuna roll wasn't particularly generous. You can always get another tho. There was a lot of sashimi fish just in little foil boats on ice, and i know people who would be way into that, and do some real damage with it. I saw shrimp lurking in both the fried rice and the udon, so i didn't get to try either of those. I don't know if they were meant to be there or just fell in. I'm allergic to water bugs, so this was very disappointing. I thought it was a little odd that there wasn't plain steamed white rice on offer but i guess i could have asked for some? They serve escolar, aka "butterfish" or fradulently "white tuna", and at least they're not calling it "white tuna", but it's actually illegal to sell that fish as food in some countries because it contains a waxy fat that humans can't digest and will go through you like a bag of Olestra chips. This was one of the reasons i avoided the sushi donut and similar multi-fish items in the buffet - they seemed to have some but it was not clear. I'm pretty sure i'm in the category of people who would have to ride the porcelain throne a few hours after eating it. I'll be clear that given a choice i will discourage the sale of indigestible food. The braised pork was overcooked and dry which was very disappointing. I really like a good red braise and this maybe had been, several BTUs short of when i encountered it. The potstickers are deep fried. The decor was pretty nice. The mousse cakes were uninspiring but then when are they not. The creme brulee was excellent. The tiramisu was ok. The booths aren't too cramped for larger customers. read more
