I had a deeply frustrating experience at Sullivan Tire in Derry, NH, when I took my Tesla Model Y in to replace the two front tires (21-inch wheels). Earlier this year, they successfully replaced my rear tires (also 21-inch, though slightly taller), so I trusted them to handle this job. I scheduled an appointment, and they ordered the tires in advance. Everything seemed set. Also, I have been going to Sullivan for over 20 years, so this shop is not new to me. After handing over my car, I waited 45 minutes only to be told that their tire machine couldn't fit my front rims due to size limitations. This was baffling, given they had no issue with the rear 21-inch wheels months prior. With ten's of thousands of Tesla Model Ys on the road, how could Sullivan Tire's online booking system schedule a service for Michelin tires they sell, yet fail to flag that their equipment cannot mount or dismount the 21-inch front rims? Ten minutes later, they returned my car with an apology, and the manager, who has always been polite, sent me on my way. However, when I inspected my car before leaving, I noticed something infuriating: one of my front wheels, which was pristine with no scratches or curb rash before the visit, now had fresh gouges and damage to the black paint. I immediately brought this to the manager's attention, pointing out the contradiction--how could their machine not fit the rim if they clearly attempted to remove it and caused this damage? The lack of transparency is what stings most. Instead of owning up to the mistake and admitting their technician tried and failed, damaging my wheel in the process, they tried to brush it under the rug, hoping I wouldn't notice. The manager took photos and promised their wheel repair service would fix the rim, but this doesn't erase the inconvenience. I left with no new tires and a damaged wheel, meaning I'll have to return to deal with their mistake. This isn't just about the damage--it's about trust. If they had been upfront, saying, "We tried, messed up, and will make it right," I'd feel differently. Instead, their attempt to hide the issue shattered any confidence I had in their service. Sullivan Tire Story - I went to ST last week because my car needed an alignment. They called my husband, I always defer these calls to him, with an estimate - over $3,000. Basically everything related to the tires, wheels, stabilizers, shocks etc. My husband said don't do anything I'm picking it up. I then brought my car to a family owned garage in Concord that I normally use. I just got a call from the owner saying if I did any of the things on ST's list I would be stealing from you. The owner also mentioned that women are usually the target of unscrupulous auto businesses. This I know is true. Two years ago I went to the dealership I bought my car from to get an inspection sticker and to check out a noise and thi$$$ happened there. The dealership and service dept. have lost our business. I will miss the Family that owned Sullivan Tire. They recently sold the business to its employees. We have been using Sullivan Tire for about 30 years. Sullivan tires do not stand behind the tires they sell. had to replace my 70 thousand mile tires at 36 thousand miles that has regular tires rotation And service . "gave" me 130 credit but required me to get a 114 wheel alignment. Should have just walked away and gone some place else. read more

My husband and I flew in for a New Years Eve wedding. Our rental car had a problem with a tire and needed a plug. Sullivan tire in Derry NH said they could get it fixed but it might have to be there all day as they had many cars to work on. They would get to ours when they could. We had no vehicle and no place to go so we sat in the shop and watched tv. they Didn't keep us waiting long. Within 2 hours the car was fixed and we were in our way! The only reason I'm not giving this place 1 star is because they gave us a good price on new tires and had it done quickly. When my husband called to ask if it was ready they read him a list of things that "needed" to be done to his car. These included an alignment, new back brakes & rotors, front struts, and rear shocks because they were "starting to leak". Thankfully my husband changes his own breaks and had just changed his front breaks and left the back ones because they had hardly enough wear to be considered ready to be replaced. We requested a quote that came to over $1500 and then we left. We proceeded to take the car to our cousin who is a mechanic who checked out all these "problems". His car is perfectly aligned, rear breaks can still go for another 30k miles at least, no need for new rotors or struts, and after taking things apart to looks at the shocks, there is no sign of a leak. Very untrustworthy. Place is just looking for sales. If you go here, make sure you get other opinions from people you trust about the work that actually needs to be done to your car before buying into their "recommendations". read more

Set an appointment for 1 pm today with Adam over the phone for a state inspection. Showed up at 1245 to drop off my truck and was told by Adam that he couldnt get me in until 3. I said I had made an appointment for 1 and he told me that he took other cars in because they were "going to make money iff that car, an inspection doesnt make me any money." Poor customer service. Been taking my family's cars here for years. I now live in Salem and still make the time to get my cars up here for work. I've had a Subaru, Toyota, Honda, and BMW serviced here. Spanning from 2011 to today. The new crew that they have had over the passed few years is good. They do good work. I've gotten a call saying that they had to keep my car longer because they messed something up. But they still called to let me know, and did it on their dime. That's better than most shops that will wait for you to call. They are proactive and keep to their dates. If they tell you it will be done Tuesday; it will be done Tuesday. In the off chance its not, it will be heavily reflected in your bill. They are as transparent and honest of a shop I have tried in New England. As stated below - I got a call from the manager the next day - I was at work so it was a VM - basically apologizing and asking for more info - I brought the truck back for retest - same dude at the desk - minimal words spoken - no questions asked - done in maybe 10 mins. I got a follow up email about a week later stating they'd look into staffing issues. That's all fine and dandy but it won't effect me - but maybe there is hope if you choose to give them a try. Unbelievable...noticed my girl friends daughter tire was low, a closer inspection indicated it had a screw in the tire. she was on her way to pick up her infant daughter, called Sullivan Tire in Derry to have the tire fixed and made a last minute appointment in 45 minutes. when she arrived, they looked at the tire and tried to upsell her into 4 new tires. Are you kidding me, the tires had less than 12,000 on them and pleny of thread. She refused their upsell and requested they change her tire and install the spare. Over an hour waiting before she was on the road. Deplorable... Rather than solidify a potential customer they tried to rip her off and proved that their unscrupulous tactics are all about sales and nothing about customer service. I will never go to any Sullivan Tire anywhere and will tell of this story to everyone I know. read more

I went to buy 2 snow tires for my rear wheel drive town car and was told they had to sell me 4...it was company policy. For 17 years I have gone to other tire shops and they put the 2 snows on the rear without issue. I went to town fair tire and they did as I wanted. Check out town fair or tire warehouse. I came in because my brakes were making noise. They changed my brake pads but must not have taken it for a test drive. I drove my car the next day and smoke was billowing out from the new brake pad. The caliper was sticking. When I brought it back, they didn't take any responsibility for it and just said "Yea, it gets pretty hot" and told me how much it would cost. I took it somewhere else and had it done right for a fraction of what Sullivan quoted me. There are much better full service places in the area. Needed two new tires for my wife's car. Searched 4 different companies online and Sullivan was the only site to provide full pricing, they were also cheaper than others. Made the appt online for same day and received a call from their center in Mass to confirm. Dropped off the car on a busy Saturday with plans to leave it there all day. They were busy and this area of Derry had a lot of traffic from road construction. At the noon time drop I was quoted a two hour turn around which I was skeptical of right away. We went shopping for a while and I received a call on my cell at 1:57pm informing me the car was ready. I was floored that they delivered within the time frame they quoted. That combined with the straight forward pricing - I paid exactly what I was quoted online - make Sullivan a place I'll return to next time. read more

The winter holiday promotions were great. I suggest tirerack.com for tire reviews. They had a name brand from China that was 2 for 2, but because tire rack didnt have any rating on it I stayed away. I went with good year flex fuel, buy 3 get 1 free. 599 for 4 tires with install, 59.99. Front alignment. They wanted 700 for Breaks, calipers, rotars. Got a second opinion, saved 400. Turns out calipers didnt need to be replaced. Saved 400 by going down the street to meinake. This isn't the first time I had an issue here. They have done work without authorization, odd car consistent car troubles after going there. I would highly advise not going here. read more

The first time I brought my Volvo in for service I left with a $2800.00 estimate for a head gasket job. I decided to bring my car somewhere else for a second opinion only to find out it was a faulty oil cooler. However, I believe in mistakes and second chances so I thought I'd give Sullivan Tire another try. Big mistake! The second chance I gave them I left with a faulty transmission. Con artists. You come in for tires and they try to nickel and dime you for other services. They claimed that 2 lug nuts were crossthreaded and they broke off a post. They didn't have the post or lug nuts in house so I had to wait for an extra 2 hours for someone to get them. ITS A TIRE STORE AND THOSE PARTS SHOULD BE ON HAND. They charged me for the post, the lugs and labor on my jeep. Even my mechanic thought that was shady. read more

Do not go here! I had two problems with this place first I took in my Volvo to have the serp belt changed the guy wanted to replace the whole power steering pump on it for 1200 dollars and told me I definitely needed it. Needless to say I only had the 30 dollar belt put on and didn't replace the pump and the car lasted another two years with no problems. And recently I called in and asked how much it would be for pads and rotors for my 2013 kia rio. (A $13,000 car brand new) and the guy said it would be 800 dollars. Will never go here for anything again and advise you to do the same read more

I had a few things wrong with my Hyundai Sonata including the brakes, bearings and other issues that needed to be addressed. I usually go to a different car repair shop in Derry and have been for a very long time. Unfortunately, they weren't able to schedule me until Thursday (it was Tuesday morning at the time)...the issues with the car had gotten so severe that I really didn't want to wait two more days to have it fixed. So I decided to go to Sullivan Tire. I had gotten a minor thing here and there done here before like oil changes. I called and was able to bring it in that morning. After taking a look into what the issues were with my car. They had quoted me $2,600 for the repairs (and that didn't include the ones they suggested that were gonna need to be fixed soon)....after looking over what they had listed needing to be fixed...I trimmed it down to a little over $1,700. I decided that I wanted to get a 2nd opinion from the place I regularly go to cause even $1,700 still seemed a bit high. I took it to my regular car repair place and the final bill ended up being $1,065. Big BIG difference from the original $2,600 quoted. My car is now running smoothly and quietly like it should be. If I was just grading on the prices that we're quoted, I would've had to campaign yelp to have a 0 star rating. I gave this place two stars because they were very nice and personable to deal with. Really liked that they have a courtesy shuttle. Not only that but the lady who drives it was very, very nice as in the end, I had to do a round trip to pick my car back up. The gentleman who seems like he runs the show in there, his name was Rick. He was also the person who went over what they felt needed to be fixed....once again, very nice gentleman ....no issues whatsoever when it came to customer service part. The downfall is that it was obvious that he was really trying to sell me on as much possible things as he could. Namely the reason why the original quote came to $2,600. The shop I usually deal with has never tried to sell me on repairs that didn't need to be actually done at that time. With that being said, if you go here, don't get me wrong you will get treated very kindly by everyone there but please be careful and use best judgement when going over the items that need to be fixed. Make sure that you're not winding be sold into repairing things that weren't necessarily needed but still cost a bit of money. Next time, I will just wait out the two extra days or not end up stretching the issues of my car as long....and I will just go see the regular place that I've done business with...Niceness and good customer service does mean something to me but possibly spending $1,600 than I needed to just to get my car fixed two days earlier is NOT worth it to me. read more

Very friendly staff. They do decent work, but not perfect, I have had to go back to have work corrected, but they were very apologetic and repaired/upgraded parts at their own cost as you would expect if they make an error. The biggest complaint I have is that they always recommend items that are not necessary and always try to upsell you, it's such that you can no longer be sure what they are saying is legit or not. Example they told me i should replace my shocks they appeared to be original, but they were not, they had been changed and had lifetime warranties, the point is that you don't change shocks because they are old, you change them if they sag excessively or are leaking. They also told me they recommend a rear diff fluid change and I had literally changed the rear diff fluid two days prior. They recommended over $1,000 dollars worth of additional repairs that were not needed. I stuck with my original request and the car is driving great. I generally do most of my own work or go to a trusted shop in Manchester when it exceeds my tools/time, but I come here for alignments, even tires I can always do better elsewhere. They also charged me for a higher costing alignment, I can't argue at this point if it was needed or not, but based on other unnecessary items I suspect it was not needed, the standard alignment would probably have been sufficient, I wasn't give a choice it was just done. I only go to these guys in a pinch and review anything they suggest with wide open eyes. If you go here, they do good work on the item you need, best alignment work I've found in town too, but be weary of the upsell and all the unnecessary recommendations. read more
