Around here there are plenty of places to buy tires, too many actually, but VIP is always my first choice. It's really important to be able to trust someone with my cars. Over these many years I have come to know a few of these professionals, and I really feel like my car is in good hands when I hand over my keys. It's good to have people. I have used their services for many years now. Always the 'best' in services. Now I just need an appointment for my annual inspection.

I drove in from New York with an inspection scheduled 3 days in advance. Got in day of, 10 minutes early only to be told that "all the techs were tied up" and that "they'd have to pencil me in for Monday or Tuesday (4 days out)." The guy at the desk had the gall to claim that they called and left me a message when no such message exists. Thanks for wasting 6 hours of my time for nothing but a bad attitude and an even worse experience than the place down the road. If you need a sticker just go to one of the local shops. Not to mention that last time my father went, they unplugged one of his headlight bulbs and tried to claim it needed a new one. This business sucks, and shows no signs of improving. read more

Management monitors the Google Maps reviews religiously and reports any negative reviews, most of which do get deleted within a day (mine got deleted). So I am posting it here instead, hopefully it helps some people. Below is my original review: ------------------------------ ------------------------------ Go to Motor-Sport at 3 Tinkham Ave instead, right down the street; this VIP location is your run-of-the-mill, over-diagnose-and-overcharge-the-unknowing-customer type of shop. They failed my state inspection for a questionable cause, which they offered to fix for $$$, I declined and fixed it myself for $ in 30 minutes, then upon re-inspection they didn't even check and just passed me. ------------------------------ I am a mechanical engineer with a master's degree, with experience as an engineering consultant in the auto industry, and I must say I am a rather seasoned DIY garage mechanic. I bought a beater at 16 and rebuilt it myself including its automatic transmission, and have since fixed numerous cars mine, relatives', and friends', of various makes and models, old and new. I know my way around cars very intimately, yet alas I legally can't do my own state inspection, so I took my car to this VIP for exactly that. I was new to NH at the time. They failed me for REAR disc rotors being old, which is strange, because not only do some low-trim cars not even have rear disc rotors because they're strictly not "necessary" (think your civics, ford focuses), but also, mine were replaced exactly 464 days prior with ~33k miles during it with a brake job to go with it (I did them myself, and I keep a log of jobs, date, and odometer readings at time of repair for each car), so they should have had plenty of life left. They then offered to fix them immediately for 600 dollars or something like that, I don't recall the exact amount. Knowing they were trying to make a sucker out of me I declined, took it home, ordered rotors from Rockauto for $25 apiece, got them 2 days later delivered to my door, replaced them myself PROPERLY in half an hour, and took it back for a re-inspection. A different technician took the car for the re-inspection, looked at a piece of paper, had the car in the garage but didn't look at it AT ALL, loitered around for half an hour doing work on other cars, then gave me a pass. Was the first technician who failed me honest but just incompetent? Possibly. Or maybe I was the idiot, and somehow a 1.3 year old pair of rotors with 33k miles on them were indeed beyond serviceable, all the while somehow the FRONT rotors which were replaced simultaneously were okay? Did not appear that way to me when I removed them, but what do I know, I am just a meager professional mechanical engineer with a decade+ of experience designing stress bearing parts and 15+ years of DIY experience, not a ASE certified technician, so I definitely a not qualified in that regards. How did the second technician pass my car without looking at it at all? Maybe he had X-ray vision, who knows. ------------------------------ I have since taken my cars to Motor-Sport down the street instead for inspections and other expensive-equipment tasks I can't DIY (like alignments). Don't bother making an appointment! I had one for 10:30.... Dropped my car off they said it would take an hour. A hour and half later still was not in but they took other cars in that came after I was there. I told them to forget about all the services I asked for and just do the state sticker still took another hour to do that...... will not be back! read more

Do not let these guys work on your vehicle! -I was there on Saturday for a quoted 2.2 hour job, which took 7 hours. After leaving I noticed my car making a weird noise not previously there. Went back on Monday & they fixed the noise, but claimed it was something else entirely, and tried to soak me for another $200, after having spent almost $500 on Saturday. Tried contacting the home office, to no avail. Will boycott this company, and warn all I know to steer clear. read more

Some inexperienced kid ruined the tranny of my Pontiac, they tried to get me out of there by signing something saying the knocking was already there. We were travelling from out of state and developed a problem with our brakes, late on a Saturday afternoon. After calling and explaining the issue, we were told to come on over and they would check things out. Mike and Chris quickly got us in, evaluated, fixed, and back on the road. They were extremely knowledgeable and wanted to make certain we were safe. While waiting, I was impressed at the level of customer service they gave each customer, knowing many by name. Dear VIP Customers - please be aware that there is no "global" labor rate for VIP stores. The rates for each store are set individually by Corporate based not on their ACTUAL labor costs, but rather on what their area competitors charge. As a result, you may find it beneficial to get quotes from multiple VIP locations, ESPECIALLY if your repair job involves a substantial number of labor hours. For work that I needed done (brake pads and rotors on one axle @ a book rate of 1.3 hrs), the quotes from 6 different VIP stores (1 in MA and 5 in NH) ranged from $330 to $394 - and this is using the identical parts sourced from a co-located O'Reillys. I believe the differences in my quotes were a combination of different labor rates in conjunction with different prices on the parts. So, next time you get ready to head out to VIP for some work on your ride, take a few minutes and check the pricing at 2 or 3 other store locations-- you may be surprised at what you find! read more

Attained a NH State Inspection. The service was a bit slow as we stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and the shop was backed up. We had stopped in early in the day and they indicated they had a pretty open schedule, but apparently that collapsed on them. When we did get served, staff did nice job of pointing out potential upcoming issues, but without a bunch of pressure to fix everything now. Staff really need to pay more attention to cleanliness of uniforms and/or put seat liners in vehicles as some mechanics looked like they had been rolling around on shop floor through oil patches. We escaped without stains on seats, but I'm not sure how. read more

Please do not go here for any reason. I was up until yesterday a regular long time customer. The service has gone down the toilet. I was charged 480 dollars for a 2 inch bolt and a 15.99 part. The repair was a part that didn't need repair and the resolve was " yes we overcharged you bit we can't give you an ample refund because we are losing money." Actually I lost money and my car still needs the original problem fixed. Do not go here Mark is a used car salesman. I was robbed plain and simple and they admitted it but didn't do the right thing. They can respond with their sales pitch defense but I have the receipt and even called a dealership and they were cheaper for the repair which was quoted as a 30 min job. Don't bother calling corporate it's a voicemail which they never reply. read more

Took my car to have my spark plugs and spar plug wires replaced. In doing this, they needed to remove the air filter intake box to access the spark plugs... they over-torched one of the screws to the air intake box and they broke it (and left it like that). They also didn't put back the other screws to the air intake box. I contacted both managers (David Libby and Mark Robinson). After 2 weeks, I'm still waiting to hear back from them. If they screw up on something as simple as putting back all the screws, how can I trust they actually replaced all the spark plugs? Or any other job? read more

Never again. This used to be a good shop but they have failed me for the last time. 3 hours for tires installed. What a joke when their pledge states 2 hours or less. Wheel lock...30 minutes to ask me for the unlock key...there is no wheel lock. Charge for something I did not ask for, was not explained to me. Took over 40 minutes to pull the vehicle in when I was told it would go right in even though I was 10 minutes early for my appointment. Plenty of other choices out there. Avoid these idiots. I feel bad for O'Reilly auto parts being in the same building because I won't step foot in there any more. No satisfaction even complaining to the corporate office just empty apologies. Funny too I need tires for another vehicle but it won't be VIP. read more

Arrived at the shop to ask about getting an inspection. I proceeded to stand at the counter for 5+ minutes, while the sales guy was on the phone with another employee of the company. Not only did he not put the call on hold, he didn't even acknowledge my presence the entire time I stood there in front of him. the service a vip is the worst I have seen for a while. made a appointment in the middle of the week, to have a muffler hung and a sticker. I work 6 days a week and ihave a disable wife and my mother who is very sick live with me. so I have a very busy life. with little time to play games. that sunday morning, I had talked to the so called tech, and he was not sure if they could install the muffler. his welding skills is not there. the manager thought hanging the muffler was replacing the hangers. some car guys . I said let's take alook at the muffler, if it is be on the skill level, then stop. I know if they did a state inspection, I would fail for the loud exhust. so I was aked to sit in a drity waiting room and looked through the dirty glass to see him totally disregard to my wishes, never pulled the muffler I bought from oraily. and played with everything eles but my exhust system that I was here for. he came in and asked me to come out. I asked about the exhust system and he he was not worry about that. he started telling about abunch of superficial rust, and I said I need the muffler put on you can't do it back it out. I left to the front desk to speak to the manager how I am not happy of what is going on. the manager said he has no control of the tech, and he is doing what he need to do. it this point, I felt I was waiting to long for my car to be backed out. walking back into the g arage, my car was noww on the ground, and hooked up to the. nh machine. now iam losing my mind. ididnot want the. si if I can't get my exhust. and told him not to write it and pull it out I was charged for a sticker a I left. ihad my exhaust fited and that replace a ball joint. and a bearing .the rest was becouse this kid was lazy, and did not do iwanted but do what he wanted, nothing. do not go to vip in derry they are lazy dirty and not honest. the management team are useless, and place should avoided by all means. The tech who did my inspection pulled me into the bay to show me how my brakes were wearing and explained to me how the brakimg system works. Overall, I am very happy about visit. Beware!!! Free inspections!! Isn't always free. I brought my vehicle in for an re-inspection after them failing me the first time. I was quoted over $1600. in repairs and took it to my own mechanic in Ma. with a list of failures. It cost me $400. I took it back and they failed it again! Took 3 hours to get my tires changed. The pricing seemed fair, but felt completely misled. I was told the tires were $65 a piece but wasn't told about the $50 coverage for the tires until I was given the bill. Do not recommend and will not be going back. read more

I had a very bizarre and hostile experience at this facility. The clerk I spoke with seemed baffled by my request for a battery replacement. It seemed a normal inquiry...they are a repair shop, correct?...duh. Well anyway, I thought perhaps it might just be an irrational first impression so I figured I'd give it a shot. The clerk told me to come back at 4pm and they would accommodate me. When I arrived back I noticed the clerk making a rude gesture toward me as if to say...What are you doing here? I promptly left the store. Could it be possible that the clerk was unable to apprehend what I needed done per my initial request and thus hoped I would not return? I don't know and I wouldn't want to attempt to delve too deeply into the psyche of this individual, so I simply advise all to avoid this shop. read more
