Although there was a minor issue with my drink glass, Jason, the manager, and Zandra, the hostess, addressed it immediately and professionally. The atmosphere was amazing, it felt as though we had the entire restaurant to ourselves because it was so quiet and intimate. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and enjoyable to talk with throughout the evening.To top off a great experience, they surprised us with a complimentary dessert and even covered the cost of my replacement drink. I dined at Sullivan's Steakhouse on Friday, June 6, while traveling with my husband. We enjoy trying new steakhouses whenever we travel, and after reviewing the menu online, we were excited to visit. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. Our party consisted of eight guests, and nearly all of our entrées were served lukewarm. The only items that arrived hot were the side dishes. My husband ordered a steak cooked medium-well, but it was served well-done to the point that it was inedible. He sent it back, but by the time the replacement steak arrived, everyone else at the table had finished eating and it was time for us to leave. We paid our bill and left the replacement steak untouched. I ordered the king crab and specifically asked about the price beforehand. I was told it would be $125. When it arrived, it was cold and appeared to be missing a significant amount of meat. I brought this to the server's attention, and the plate was taken back to the kitchen. When it returned, it appeared to be the same plate that had simply been reheated, with no acknowledgment or resolution regarding the lack of meat. I would not recommend ordering the king crab. The portion consisted of only one large leg and one small leg, which did not justify the cost. To make matters worse, when the bill arrived, the charge was $139 rather than the $125 I had been quoted. During our meal, the manager stopped by our table to ask about our experience. I provided honest feedback regarding the issues with the food and service. While he apologized for our experience, there was no apparent effort to address or resolve the concerns, which was disappointing. Overall, the food quality, service, and value did not meet expectations, especially considering the price point. This place doesn't let you order to-go over the phone. When you go in person they say you have to place the to-go order at the bar despite there being 4 people by the hostess stand and only 1 person behind the bar with other guests he is bartending for as well. We ordered the carrot cake and it takes about 20 minutes for them to bring it out. The manager was very rude to the bartender as well the way she spoke to him. Eventually they gave us the carrot cake and when we opened the box at home there was a hair on it. Great dessert but the worst service in Charlotte. read more

Was pretty excited to come and have the experience and eat, but I was underwhelmed. Came for my anniversary and it was just slow. We were seated immediately but our waitress took FOREVER to come to our table. My boyfriend and I came here last night for dinner. Waited over 10 minutes until we were greeted by our waitress. Once we realized they were clearly understaffed and/or having kitchen issues, we gave them some grace (we are both service industry employees) Food came out at a decent time (we both got steaks) & they were pretty good, then had a server box up our leftovers. Fast forward to this evening. I heated up my steak in the oven and was enjoying my leftovers until I bit down on something very hard. I thought I chipped my tooth honestly. When I spit out what I thought was my tooth , I realized it was a piece of glass. Could be a very strong piece of plastic, but looks very much like glass. I was shocked. My boyfriend immediately called the restaurant and told them what happened. Whoever he spoke to on the phone sounded shocked & apologetic but we have yet to hear anything back from them as far as getting our money back. This is my first time leaving a bad review for a restaurant and I hate to do it because I know bad days happen but this was just insane to me. 2nd Visit: I had the sea bass, the Wellington bites, and the lobster three cheese mac. The sea bass tasted a tad fishy and the bok choy was a bit raw. In order to bring out the full flavor of bok choy, it needs to be cooked thoroughly, but not overcooked. The lobster three cheese mac was decent. The female "bartender" was friendly and attentive. I visited Sullivan's Steakhouse on 8/31 to celebrate my sister's 30th birthday, and unfortunately the experience was far from what we expected. We arrived around 8:30 PM, and although the restaurant was not busy at all, our waitress took a noticeably long time to take our order and check in on us throughout the evening. We even had to ask for water refills during our entrées because she never came back to refill them. When it was time to pay, she brought one large bill instead of separating it by each person's order as we requested. After asking again, she returned with the separated checks, and we provided our payments. The waitress accepted cash for one order but still attempted to charge my card for that same order, which created confusion that stemmed from their mistake--not ours. When we tried to explain the issue, the manager stepped in and was extremely rude. Instead of listening, she made negative remarks, dismissed our concerns, and insisted the problem was on our end. Even after she finally understood what happened, she continued with the same attitude and told us she "just wanted us out of her building," even though we were simply trying to clarify that the waitress had taken an additional $33. This was supposed to be a special celebration, but the service and treatment we received were disappointing and unprofessional. Unfortunately, we will not be returning. read more

Listen ! I have never been sooo compelled to give anyone a review up until today ! I decided to go & sit at the bar today to try out the happy hour here and the award winning carrot cake my friend told me about ,& Grayson was the star of the bar because everyone gravitated towards him his energy & the love he has clearly for his job . I sat there & watched him tell the story about the carrot cake to everyone asking about it including me lol over n over again like he could never get tired of telling that story . His energy was so great that the lady outside with her two kids her small daughter wanted to make sure she told him goodbye it was the sweetest thing . The lady that I didn't know sitting next to me was like if she comes back and Grayson is not there she is turning around and leaving lol I can't say that I blame her honestly . So now that I got that out of myself system I haven't been to Sullivans in years & they still never seem to disappoint an oldie but I see it's still a goodie . Came to Sullivans last night for my friends birthday dinner, reservation was at 9:45 we waited about 10 minutes to be seated. It took our waiter awhile to come around but we placed a few orders for apps and drinks. We ordered our main courses at 10:30 pm and orders were not received until after 11:45 pm now the restaurant was not that busy at this time. There was no apology or anything offered for the extreme delay. My steak was absolutely a bit dry but i was starving so overcame. Sullivans only allows for 4 cards at the maximum on the bill. I recently visited Sullivan's Steakhouse during Restaurant Week with 4 of us total. The special menu offered a great selection which included an appetizer/salad, steak and dessert for $50. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and provided helpful recommendations. She recommended the Knockout cocktail. It was pretty good but a little sweet. For the Restaurant Week menu, I started with the Caesar salad, which was very tasty. The main course was a 6oz filet mignon, and it was tender and cooked to perfection. They served it with a side of mashed potatoes which were also delicious. For dessert I got the cheesecake, which was pretty tasty. The key lime pie sounded good as well. After my first experience here my dining experience tonight was completely different than I expected. We had a party of 5 and it was a party of 5 from the beginning of our time at the restaurant. The entire time our server was more focused on the party going on in another room than the table he was serving. Mind you, we were one of the only other parties in the restaurant... we were barely checked up on, waiting for hours for the check, boxes, and the remainder of our meal . We finally get our checks and gratuity has been added. We kindly ask for it to be removed as we have a party of 5. AFTER the waiter informed us it would be taken off, we give our cards only to see we were all charged gratuity. No where on the website or menu does it say "gratuity is charged for any reservations more than 7 regardless if the full party is present" Overall service was 0/10. The waiter and Manager on duty tonight had poor attitudes and weren't in best interest of the paying customer, and forever tainted my experience with this establishment. After a great day at the PGA Tournament at Quail Ridge, I wanted to celebrate Mother's Day and my wife--who also happens to be my best friend. We walked into Sullivan's a little early that Friday evening and were warmly greeted, then taken to a cozy spot I call the "high rise"--a few steps up with a great view of the main dining room and other plates coming out of the kitchen. Our server, William, was top-tier. He knew the menu backward and forward and had some great suggestions that hit the mark. We shared the BLT Salad made tableside (a fun touch), then went with the 12 oz Prime New York Strip and the Filet. Cooked to perfection. The sear, the flavor, the tenderness--just what you'd hope for in a top steakhouse. We paired that with brussels sprouts and creamed spinach--both solid, but the creamed spinach is always a must at Sullivan's. The GM, Jason, even came by to check on us. We ordered the charbroiled oysters, but the cheese was barely melted, and the cocktail shrimp was just standard. Our waitress seemed uninterested, which we tried to understand given it was Christmas. Our entrées didn't arrive until around 2:15 PM. The seabass was overly seared, and while the bone-in filet was fine, the sides were not. The Brussels sprouts were lukewarm, and the potato au gratin was cold, as if it came straight from the refrigerator. Although the side was replaced quickly, we were already finished with our entrées. A manager apologized and said the side would be comped, but when the check arrived, it wasn't. We paid anyway. The potato was good once reheated, but overall the experience was disappointing. The kitchen seemed unorganized, and the staff did not appear happy to be working. This used to be a great restaurant years ago, but this was our last visit. read more

I went to sullivans for a GNO and we were all really disappointed. The steaks were overcooked and looked like 3 ounces. I didn't even get a pic but they were so embarrassing. My seabass was freezer burnt. I actually sent it back and even the manager was like um yeah this is not what we serve and was so apologetic. He actually had them make me a new one which was much better but by the time I got it everyone else was done eating and had to leave. They also brought out lobster bisque as an apology for the long wait but I'm deathly allergic to lobster so that could have been really bad. It took FOREVER to get a glass of prosecco and I asked for a second time and they ended up being me out two glasses lol. Just seemed like a lot of miscommunication. We made a last minute reservation to celebrate a young girl's homecoming from being on a submarine and her return to the Citadel in the morning. Not only were the food and drinks the most delicious, the service was impeccable. All of the staff were so kind and gracious. But most of all Jason, the GM. Disappointing Experience at Sullivan's Steakhouse I had high hopes for Sullivan's Steakhouse, but unfortunately, my visit was underwhelming from start to finish. First, we waited about 10 minutes before even being acknowledged by a server. When I informed them about my dairy allergy and asked if I could get a steak without butter or dairy, it seemed like a major issue. I also inquired about dairy-free side options, and the staff had no idea what was available. We ordered two types of Old Fashioneds, and one came out almost clear--pretty sure they forgot the bourbon. Then, I ordered a $100 steak, expecting something well-presented, but it was literally just thrown on a plate with no garnish. To make matters worse, no one checked on us after the food arrived. We also waited 25 minutes for someone to clear our plates. No one around us had great service. The environment was stressful, with the bartender loudly slamming dishes into a bus tub the entire time. To top it all off, despite my request for no butter, I'm fairly certain they still used some because I ended up with a severe stomachache. I also found some shredded cheese on the plate with the potato. The only redeeming part of the night was the manager, who was kind. But overall, the lack of attention to allergies, poor service, and chaotic atmosphere made this a disappointing experience. We both chose the "Sure Thing" pre-fixe menu and decided to upgrade our steaks. My wife had the filet and I went with the ribeye. You honestly can't beat that deal! At Liam's recommendation, we started with the beef wellington bites, and they were absolutely delicious. The lobster and shrimp bisque was rich and flavorful, and all of our food came out piping hot, which made everything that much better. Both of our steaks were cooked to absolute perfection. Our server, Liam, really made the evening even better. He had great attention to detail, gave us space to enjoy our meal, and still managed to keep things light and fun with his sense of humor. I ordered the knockout, spicy shrimp egg rolls, the bananas foster bread pudding. I ordered the knockout since it was the only drink that had pineapple in it. The egg rolls was filling. Bread pudding isn't always my first choice for dessert, but I decided to try it because of all of the reviews. It was probably the best bread pudding I've had. We stopped in kinda late after listening to jazz at Middle C. Carmen was our server and she was the absolute best. She was super kind, bubbly and attentive. I wanted a steak but it was too late so I got shrimp cocktail and a wedge. Perfect! The shrimp cocktail appetizer comes with five large shrimp. The wedge was prepared as I requested: no tomatoes or bacon. I sampled my husband's Brussels sprouts and they are a must-try. They do have bacon in them. There was no room for dessert. Booked a table at Sullivan's for our 13th Anniversary. From the outside, it looks very small, but has a very intimate setting on the inside. Only Valet parking, but it is complementary. Menu consists of signature steaks and seafood, with shareable sides. Drink menu is nice as well. I had the 8oz. Filet and it was cooed perfectly. My husband had the Cajun Ribeye and it was huge. We shared some of the lobster Mac n cheese and the lobster au gratin potatoes. Both were delicious! For our anniversary, they treated us to a free desert and we chose the cheesecake. Perfect choice! If I could give zero stars, I would. On Mother's Day, we ordered over $200 worth of takeout from Sullivan's to celebrate. It was a disaster. The $98 steak I ordered medium arrived seared on the outside but raw and bloody inside -- absolutely inedible. The seabass was dry and overcooked, missing any sauce entirely. The sides were a joke: the "shareable" lobster mac & cheese was basically $20 worth of bland pasta with barely a trace of lobster, the crab fried rice was a sad single-serving portion, and the sautéed spinach was almost non-existent. We've ordered and dined at Sullivan's many times for special occasions, but this was by far the most disappointing experience ever. When I called to complain, the manager Matthew seemed apologetic. We weren't the only ones upset this day. He admitted they "dropped the ball" and offered either a refund or a chance to come back so they could "go above and beyond" to make things right. Because we live far away, coming back wasn't ideal, but he insisted. He claimed he would "take care of us," make it right, and that he "takes full accountability." Fast forward to our 10-year anniversary dinner. We decided to give them another chance, thinking they'd honor their word. We arrived, spoke to Matthew, and he repeated again and again that he would "take care of us," thanked us for giving them another shot, and promised to "make sure everything is okay." When I asked for clarity -- what does "taking care of us" actually mean? Are you covering the meal as promised? -- he remained vague and just said, "Don't worry, I got you." But he communicated this to the server and another manager, not to us directly and clearly. Shady. Then he brought out a "cheesecake eggroll" appetizer -- HIS personal favorite -- that we never ordered and never asked for. My husband doesn't even eat red meat. On top of that, we had already shared our allergies and restrictions with the server, which were clearly ignored. Then the worst happened. I took a bite of the Aji tuna and bit into something hard enough to potentially crack a tooth -- it looked like a piece of glass. We called Matthew over in shock. After checking with the kitchen, he confirmed it was actually a big piece of rock salt that never should have been there. While we were dealing with this dangerous incident, the first cheesecake eggroll he brought (which we didn't order) was left sitting there and got cold. Matthew then decided to replace the cold cheesecake eggroll -- again, something we never wanted in the first place. Before leaving, Matthew kept repeating to make sure we get dessert since that was "on the house," promising everything was "taken care of." Again, vague. When we got the bill, it was $300 -- and all they did was discount $50, which covered the two appetizers we didn't order and the dessert they later tried to charge us for anyway. Absolutely insulting. We should've taken the refund the day they "dropped the ball" and never came back. At this point, Matthew disappeared. A clueless new manager stepped in and gave us robotic, emotionless responses. She claimed she was "briefed" on our situation but couldn't do anything else. She even rudely stated, "We don't just give away steaks," which is laughable considering I paid $100 for a raw steak on Mother's Day. I asked her sarcastically if she wanted the $15 difference. This was never about the money -- it was about service, honesty, and accountability. After a frustrating 30-minutes, she finally called the executive chef, who agreed to comp my steak and "adjusted" the bill. Meanwhile, bugs were flying around us as we tried to eat. The restaurant was dirty and the sanitation rating was awful -- the opposite of a supposed "fine dining" restaurant. Matthew, the so-called "manager," over-promises, under-delivers, and doesn't keep his word. He claimed he was "trying to impress us" and give us a good experience -- what we actually got was stress, confusion, and zero respect. In the end, we felt tricked into returning under false pretenses, forced to dispute a ridiculous bill, and subjected to careless food handling and poor service. Just horrible. We will never return, and I strongly warn anyone considering Sullivan's to stay far away. This place has gone from "fine dining" to worse than an Outback Steakhouse. read more

I love the ambiance and atmosphere. They always go above and beyond to ensure patrons are satisfied. Ryan was our server, and he was great. Gave us really good choices, but we went with the Restaurant Week items that were quite good. Food was top-notch. Started with the market fresh greens: cherry tomatoes, radish, shaved gruyere cheese, and if course greens in a shallot Dijon vinaigrette dressing. Lovely. With Restaurant, you have a starter, entree, and desert for a fixed price. My entree was the prime NY strip at 8oz served with garlic mashed potatoes and delicious bourbon peppercorn sauce!! Next time, it's 12oz for me. Go big or go home, lol. Dessert was the bananas foster bread pudding with a caramel sauce with vanilla bean ice cream on top. Wonderful experience. First Off I would like to thank William who was our server tonight. He was very thorough with explaining the memu, our choices and what would be great choices with whatever we decided. He was very attentive and was very pleasant throughout our visit. The appetizer we had was the Crispy Shanghai Calamari which was very good. I had the Faroe Islands Salmon . Even thought I ordered it blackened and well done, I didnt care for it , so next time I think I'll order it medium done. I also didn't like the spinach that came with it. It was crispy and bland. I've never had that kind of spinach and hope that there would be better choices to go with the salmon. I'm glad I ordered the asparagus which was good, but seemed not enough to cover the price. My lady had the House cut Rib eye steak 16 oz which she absolutely loved. The general manager was also very helpful in providing a spread that went very well with her steak. She also had the Wild Steakhouse Mushrooms and some type of potatoe salad which name I can't remember. Nevertheless, she enjoyed them as well. Afternoon late lunch at Sullivan's. Met Jason the GM when I arrived. Very pleasant. Leanne the bartender was very good and made a delicious manhattan. Calamari was crispy and delicious. Oysters were underwhelming and not very cold. They should be chilled. Bisque was quite good. NY Strip was ordered med rare and came out 5 mins after the order was placed and was rare, cold in the middle. My server did check on it and offered to have it reheated but my experience is that it is never the same when that's done. I was sitting at the bar and was the only person there. This is supposed to be a high end steak house. You would expect a cocktail napkin under your drink and maybe a spread napkin or placemat for your dishes. Nope. My dinner plate slid all over the marble bar when I tried to cut my rare steak. For the prices they charged I would have expected a much better experience. read more
