On our last night in Charlotte before leaving for home in Chicago, we thought we'd have a nice sit-down dinner, and chose Ruth's Chris in South Park. While finding the place takes a bit of doing, since they face on the inside of a little strip mall, it was worth getting to. The setup is a very nice dining room that is cozy, quiet, and romantic. Table-cloth service, and all the nice things one has come to expect at a Ruth's Chris establishment. This is not a place to bring your little ones. Our server was Nate, and he could not have been more pleasant and engaging. We started with drinks (a Tito's Vodka Lemon Drop Martini, and a Josh Cellars Merlot), and they were crafted perfectly. For mains we had the Petite Filet (5 stars and done correctly the first time) and the Crab Cake Entree (a 5 star offering of three small crab cakes presented with more crab than filler). We added sides of Creamed Spinach (4 stars good) and Potato Au Gratin (3 stars ok only because the cheese resolidifies so fast). Besides Nate checking back with us to make sure everything was done right, the floor manager Jordan also worked the room to make sure it was humming. This was a delightful experience and one we will be sure to do again. We'll even recommend it to our son and daughter-in-law for their next date night out. read more

We chose Ruth's Chris Steak House in South Park for Easter Brunch. The atmosphere and the service is excellent beginning with the valet parking. I appreciate the option to drive right up to the entrance and leave my car because of recent mobility issues and it was raining. Both were a consideration in choosing this restaurant. I always order a NY Strip that is served sizzling on the plate. The steak was absolutely tender, flavorful and delicious. It had a nicely charred and tasty crust and cooked to a medium interior. My daughter had shrimp and grits. The shrimp were colossal and expertly cooked. The grits differed in that they were thick and coarse rather than the customary creamy version. Ruth's Chris grills the best steaks hands down. My Brussels sprouts and salad were not as exceptional as before. Overall we enjoyed our Easter dining experience. read more

Pure class from start to finish. I was served by Michael and Jayden...a dynamic duo who deserve their own Food Network show. They knew exactly what to recommend (pictured), which was perfectly seasoned and exactly what I was craving for my solo-date night. Our group private dinner was nice in some ways, but there were a few issues with the experience that don't meet expectations for a special occasion meal. On the plus side, the ambiance in the restaurant and the private dining area was cozy. The room felt private and festive. Several of the side items were fantastic, particularly the lobster mac and cheese and the sweet potatoes. Unfortunately, some issues cropped up and diminished what could have been a special experience. There were some service issues. It was difficult to order signature drinks or review the wine list because the only drink menu was a single tablet to be shared between a table of 12 people. The first round of drinks did not reach our table until approximately 6:45 PM, about 40 minutes after the order was placed. Several of the drinks had been sitting so long that the ice sphere was melted down to the size of a marble. For some reason, this Ruth's Chris seemed ill-prepared to accommodate private dining groups, so tread carefully when considering a booking. The other main issue was with the quality of the steaks. They were ok and enjoyable, but my medium rare was a solid medium to medium well temperature. The expected steakhouse crust sear wasn't present. It was more like a steak from fast casual restaurant. There's no doubt that I ate well and had a good experience overall with a great group of people. Unfortunately, it was a pretty hit or miss private dining event experience. read more

We selected this restaurant to celebrate our daughter's 22nd birthday. It was very easy to make our reservation online. The dining area is very lovely. Larry was our server. He was polite and very attentive. Our food was delicious. I have a favorite dish which is the Barbecued Shrimp, it is a Ruth's favorite. The presentation has changed over the years, but it is still wonderful. My daughter had the same. My husband had the NY Strip with a baked potato. The sides are served family style My husband and I had Crème Brûlée for dessert. Larry was wonderful and had the berries from my husband's dish added to mine. Apologies for not getting a picture. Hubby and I decided to head to the bar after work today. The bartender was literally the most non personable person I've ever met. We walked in to take a seat and he didn't acknowledge us. He finally came from the back and barely greeted us. We had to ask for plates and straws. Also, he never once refilled our water or asked if we wanted additional drinks. Very mediocre service and we were the only people at the bar. Managers walked past us without any acknowledgment as well. Southpark location could use a lesson in customer service. There was an issue with our gift card. I contacted customer service after leaving the restaurant and within 20 mins.a new e-gift card was sent to me. read more

The food here is amazing, as I knew it would be. The mac was perfectly cheesy, the spinach was a creamy like no other, the steak was cooked with precision! I really appreciate our server Liz, her service was outstanding. She gave us her honest opinions on the food, which is rare at establishments. The atmosphere was so quaint. Came on a Sunday without a reservation and was able to seated in minutes. Everything was top notch. Larry was our server. Very well manner, patient, and knowledgeable in his dealings with us. My favorite part is they serve they serve you a HOT steak. I understand letting it rest after the initial cook. But let's get some heat to it afterwards. Wow my husband and I gave this place a break for over a year after a bad experience but have since went back 2 times over the last month and wow. It has been fully remodeled inside, the staff are attentive, funny and kind and the FOOD. Best steak I have had in a really really long time. And my husband said the same thing about his steak. Idk if it was because of the holiday rush or what but my FIRST experience here was mediocre. Waited 30 mins even with a reservation. The waiting area here was small and cost check was offered. The service was great, our server was nice. The calamari was below my expectations great coating but thin meat. The Thanksgiving menu was pretty good. We ordered the creamed spinach but never got it :(. All in all I would go back to try their regular menu. And maybe to the Uptown location instead. read more

My wife and 7 month old daughter had an enjoyable Valentine's Day meal at the SouthPark Ruth Chris Steakhouse. We decided to get two wonderful drinks to start along with the oyster Rockefeller. My wife decided to try the sea bass she enjoyed that fish. I decided to try the stuff chicken breast which was great! For our sides we're chose au gratin potatoes and Brussels sprouts. To the credit of the manager he followed up to get the details, said he would address them with his team, and sent a gift card for a return visit. I will report on the follow up visit. My wife's steak was cook past the medium-well order. the calamari was too chewy and the service was a bit slow, we were there for 1 hr 40 minutes. I started with a Strawberry Lemon Drop with Don Julio instead of vodka w/ a sugar rim. I ordered my usual the Stuffed Chicken Breast. It did not disappoint in any way. The side dishes were very good. We ordered the sweet potato casserole and creamed spinach. Hubby's main course which was the lamb chops was overall underwhelming. The first chop was delicious and just as he expected it to be; tender and flavorful meat. But the other two were extremely fatty and lacked lean meat. Our server was Fabier and he was very sweet and friendly. Our food came out quickly and the steaks were divine. I loved the creamed spinach, but both the au gratin and baked potatoes left something to be desired. There was no flavor or seasoning. I do also wish RC would stop serving the hard butter with their bread and give that nice softened steak butter. The bread pudding was moist and delicious. The tomato bisque soup was a great portion but a smidge too salty/rich. The restaurant itself was clean and we were seated right away with our reservation even though it was a busy night. Had a reservation at 9pm for a booth when we came in we were told to wait. So we waited, after around 20 minutes we asked for an update on your booth and they had told us that the people seated in the booth right now still haven't finished eating. Only after a hour and a half around 10:30 pm we were seated and the restaurant closed at 11. What is the point of reservations if you're only going to be seated after a hour and a half? And we had someone whose birthday it was with us, the whole reason we chose this restaurant. read more

Went on Father's Day to celebrate and didn't have the experience we have had in the past from Ruth Chris. Numerous times we had to request our server as they were absent. The seafood tower was presented with over cooked lobster that was chewy. The waiter didn't seem to care. The tables next to us were left dirty for most of the evening. When we finished dishes, they were moved over to the dirty tables rather than being cleared. Au Poive sauce that cost $8 was served cold. We had 3 bottles of $140 wine and outside of the 1st glass of each bottle, we had to pour for ourselves. No decanter was provided. The servers and wait staff complained to us how busy they were that day. Definitely not the experience we had hoped for to celebrate. read more

I came here for a solo dinner a little nostalgic. I walked in and the lady at the desk asked "how can I help you?" I always think it's weird when people asked that at a restaurant like what do think I'm here for? Moving on... my waiter was the best very attentive and helpful. Went to RC in Southpark for birthday dinner. Hadn't been to RC in years and now I remember why. Drinks weren't too bad, but food is so overpriced! Had the small seafood tower - what a disappointment. Everything was near frozen and tasted it. For $90, only got 8 large shrimp, a lobster tail that was split in two and two claws, and a small ramekin of crab meat. The lobster body appeared to be a nice size, but it was only really a decoration thing. There is no justification for this dish at this point. To top things off, we were sitting at the bar which is in front of the entrance doors, a double-door arrangement designed to separate the outside from the inside. The hostess station was between the double doors. The hostess props open the inner door which then caused whooshes of cold air to hit us when the outer door was open. My wife went to the hostess to ask her close the door, and her immediate reply was 'No' as she said it was too cold unless the inner door was open. My wife questioned whether the customer's comfort should be the priority. Her response: No, her health was the priority. Unbelievable, I was totally flawed. The door was eventually closed and we tried to set it aside. But really, this capped an overall bad experience. I expect that this location of RC is not long for this world. read more

I'm not sure if the cook was in a hurry but the quality of everything except for the spinach was AWFUL. The crab cakes were bland as well as the lobster mac and cheese with very little lobster, the portion of the sweet potato casserole looked as if it had been eaten off of. Wife and I have been staying across the street at the Marriott Residence in for way too long. That's another story for another day. We decided to make life easy and we made reservations for this past Sunday Night - 4 February 2024. Food was truly spot on exceptional. We shared the Porterhouse for 2 and we prefer our Steak Well done; - Simply delicious! Creamed Spinach & Mashed Potato sides were delectable and prepared perfectly. Not a great experience, I ordered medium and it came rare. The server agreed and sent it back to the kitchen only for it to come back rare again. The worst part is they kept having me cut the steak down the middle to check. By the third time they overcooked the steak to well done and my plate looked like steak chunks. They did not charge me for the steak but the whole experience was terrible especially while my family was eating then had to wait for me to finish. Honestly I was disappointed. People have hyped this restaurant up my whole life so I expected to be blown away but it was a pretty regular steakhouse. I had the filet pairing that came with shrimp and a glass of wine. The wine was fantastic. The steak was cooked well but could have been marinated better. 3*=A OK I surprised my husband to a birthday dinner to this location. We usually go to the Uptown location, but they are closed on Mondays during the month of July. Is it normal for the person to call and confirm the reservation to read the dress code over the phone? I have never had that happen before. 1st for everything. We arrived (in dress code) and was seated at a tiny table next to the wine vault. My husband is 6'5". I asked (again because I asked in my reservation for a roomy table with a view out the window) for another table. We were taken to a booth. Our server had on a nametag that was different from her name. She said she didn't know who's nametag it was but her name was Katherine and she goes by Kat. She was attentive at 1st, but then after our food came, she didn't show up much anymore. Food was good, some sides could have been warmer. Steak was perfectly cooked. Our food was taken away to be boxed up and one side did not make it to our bag. We had to wait a while to bring it to someone's attention. It was replaced. "Kat" finally came back out with a chocolate cupcake for my husband's birthday. I quickly moved it away from him because he cannot stand chocolate! I thanked her for the gesture but declined it. Then I tried to steak it tasted like Parmesan cheese, mushy and just gross. The broccoli was OK. Thanksgiving reservation was beyond 30 minutes late. No one in front lobby area cared about it when asked. Just Rude. When spoke to manager was seated - but right next to kitchen prep where constant foot traffic flying by you - impossible to have a nice conversation. No tablet given to. review for cocktails. When glass of wine ordered - delivered a red vs white. Waiter was nice but was his first night so not really knowledgeable . Food rushed on service - after waiting 45 minutes standing in a crowded lobby with other frustrated people. This used to be a Great restaurant but you could tell now it is understaffed and servers not the top-notched experienced staff one used to enjoy. I had not known Darden had purchased this chain before going. They have ruined it. Food ok but not for the costs. It is run more like Olive Garden (and staff acted like that too). Went out to celebrate and decided to give this location a try. I prefer this one over uptown charlotte because there is adequate and free parking. The hostess was very welcoming and the servers were very friendly. The restaurant was very spacious and had a great ambiance. My husband had the filet with shrimp with was very good and cooked perfectly. I tried the stuffed chicken and that was my favorite dish. The stuff mushrooms and lobster bites were also amazing.
