We headed back to Capital Grille one Saturday evening for an anniversary dinner. I've only ordered steaks here, but decided to order fish instead. The Pan-Seared Sea Bass with Miso Butter served with shiitake mushroom and asparagus was absolutely melt-in-your-mouth delicious. I ordered it with a side of brussel sprouts. The food, drinks, service, and ambience were top tier, per usual. Another 5-star experience at this tried and true downtown restaurant.
Thoroughly enjoyed Capital Grille & look forward to many fabulous returns. Great menu with a broad array of options that could easily meet any steak lover's needs. As I was checking them out before a show that I wanted to remain awake for , my dining partner and I opted to share a few apps. The lobster & crab cake--the name here really tells the story, as this jumbo cake was equally stocked with both--calamari & Brussels sprouts were the perfect flavor medley to accompany my Blackberry Bourbon Sidecar. Amazing food & stellar service by Sean started my night off right. Cheers!
It was my first time here and came for a birthday diner. We were seated promptly once we checked in. It was a bustling Saturday evening. Our server was really great. Food was good, typical for what expected at steak house. My steak was cooked to perfection although didn't quite enjoy the balsamic and it soared to have very little of the "rub." I ordered Caesar salad and lobster mac and cheese as my sides and those were really tasty. Pretty solid experience.
So I have been back to Capital Grille every week since they started Capital Hours and I REGRET NOTHING! We are waited hand and foot every single time, the drinks are amazing, the food has been incredible - lamb, shrimp, and steak perfectly cooked!, and the atmosphere is fantastic. The cocktails start at $10 and the options are endless and just get better and better the more I try! This is a must! Unless I'm out of town, you'll know where to find me!
From out of state, to visit some family down here. So happy we chose to dine at the capital grille. Our server Denise was absolutely amazing! She was well knowledgeable about their menu, attentive, and friendly. Everything you want in a server! We so loved how it was formal attire dining since it's hard to find a good place back home in NY. The food was absolutely excellent. I didn't know I enjoyed Brussels sprouts until I dined at the capital grille!
Let's figure the Waygu and wine out I made a reservation from the ad I saw and was treated as if I made a mistake
Amazing dinner with husband and son. French Onion soup and salad delicious. Filet Mignon done perfectly with creamed spinach and Au gratin potatoes. Sides were large enough to serve three or four. Ended with crème brûlée which was absolutely delicious. We have been to a few Capital Grille restaurants and the decor was very very nice at this location. Parking is doable in the street on meters and they offer valet.
Excellent dining experience. The food, ambience, and service at the Capital Grille in uptown were superb. Highly recommend the calamari for an appetizer which has a nice spice kick from the hot peppers as well as a slight vinegar taste with the banana peppers. For dinner, we enjoyed a NY strip steak cooked to perfection and the sea bass. I'm often hesitant to order fish at a restaurant but I'm so happy I went with the sea bass because it was delicious and so soft and flaky. The cheese cake and coconut cream pie with rum for desert were incredible. Not to mention, the service was all around great. We were really able to enjoy our dinner without being rushed. It was a whole experience. Highly recommend especially for any special occasion.
My mom and I were walk-ins during the holiday season ( We'd. Dec 12) so the restaurant was very busy, but they were able to accommodate us which we were grateful for. We were sat at a comfortable booth near some Christmas parties but were not greeted for 12 minutes. We had a long drive to Asheville ahead of us so we were looking to be in and out. We saw several servers walk by multiple times (including the one who we later found out was our designated server) but no one stopped. I eventually stopped a man named Shaun and asked him politely if he could assist us with finding our server. He was the right person to stop. Even though it wasn't his fault, Shaun took our order right then and there, apologized for the delay in service, saw to our drinks and bread service coming out right away, regularly walked by to check on us and owned our experience from there on out. Eventually our server did come by but if it wasn't for Shaun it might have been a very disappointing experience. Very grateful for the training and personal professionalism from Shaun (sp?) he made our night. Portions were very generous and the food was incredible. Thank you !
Shocked that I've never written a review for my favorite restaurant in the US, Capital Grille. My daughter and I had a wonderful experience. She had never been to CG before and was blown away by the service (Douglas), food offerings, and quality of the cuisine we ordered. We decided to start with the raw oysters on half shell, which were excellent, and I love a mignonette. We then split the spinach and poached pear salad- again, amazing. On to the entree- we ordered the 10 oz filet to split, medium rare, and it was perfection. My daughter couldn't stop raving about it. Sides to accompany the filet were creamed corn and the delicious lobster Mac and cheese. Finally, we ordered the simple creme brûlée- which was chef's kiss. Light, creamy, Madagascar vanilla bean galore, and topped with fresh berries. Capital Grille has always been my most favorite, consistently delicious upscale restaurant (in Charlotte, Denver, etc.), with the best service from valet, service, food, drinks, and back to valet. Thank you! Ambiance is lowkey and bistro-like arrangement in the lounge.
The Capital Grille remains the owner of the best steak I have ever been fortunate enough to eat. The Porcini-Rubbed Bone-In Ribeye with 15-Year Aged Balsamic is absolutely the best steak I have ever tried! Nothing has compared. I have had wagyu, some of the best sirloin, steaks that have cost me much more, and yet it remains the king. I had this steak many years ago and began to wonder if I was imagining it being better than it actually was. I had it again for my birthday and it was everything I remembered. The service was amazing always, as well. One of the most high class establishments that Charlotte has to offer. I am excited to try many more meals from The Capital Grille in the years to come.
I have been coming to capital grille for years. I've been specifically coming to the Charlotte location for one year. I've never had a bad experience. It has a traditional steakhouse atmosphere and the staff is always welcoming and friendly. This time, my party was in a hurry to get to the theater and our waiter was very accommodating. We started with the bread of course. The salted butter is a major underrated component of this meal! It's like no other restaurant. I love it! We also got the tuna tar tar, which holds my only complaint. The dish is advertised to include mango, and we were pretty disappointed that ours didn't have it on there. The only thing, we didn't notice until we finished the dish because it was fantastic anyway! For our meals, we all got filets. I split a bone in with my mom, and the others got 8-10oz. They were all cooked perfectly to our liking. The Parmesan truffle fries were as expected, delicious. The other sided were full of flavor. My favorite was the au gratin potatoes. They had a nice crunch and were so flavorful. Onto desserts, I never come here without eating the cheesecake. To my surprise, the crème brûlée was my favorite! I think I found my new dessert when I come to this restaurant. Easily one of my top 5 desserts in charlotte. We also ordered the flourless chocolate cake, which didn't arrive with our other desserts. To make up for the delay, they comped the item! Overall it was an excellent experience and I will certainly be coming back.
Went here for our anniversary and of course, we were highly pleased with the results. A 5 star restaurant that didn't fall short at any point. Waitress staff was A1, cleanliness of the building was up to par, and the food was AMAZING. The generous pour was a solid wine tasting as well. Can't wait to come back.

There was a mistake with our initial reservation at a different restaurant, so we came across the street to the Capital Grille. We were delighted that they were able to accommodate our large group of 19 people. Service was top notch and very attentive throughout. We enjoyed a number of appetizers to start including the calamari and bacon. I had the filet mignon along with the lobster tail which was amazing and perfectly cooked! Side dishes included the mushrooms, asparagus, truffle fries, mac and cheese, and mashed potatoes. read more

Overpriced and disrespectful. They kicked a man out that was ordering a steak before regular lunch time for to-go who was not going to eat on the property because he was yelling at ghosts before he walked in. A 5 Star Experience--top to bottom. Was in town briefly to celebrate our birthdays on a Friday around 2pm and the staff were so great in making us feel special and celebrated. I specifically want to shout out Eric, he's a server's assistant. He really started the whole experience right and it made the difference for me. My sister and I were spoiled with all the fantastic food, from the started bread to the crab cake and sirloin, to the dessert platter with the absolutely phenomenal mini crème brûlée cheesecake. I don't really like chocolate dessert but the espresso fudge mousse cake was also delicious! They even had little happy birthday decorations on the table! Such a great idea to make it that much more special. Keep going the great work!! read more

Amazing food, the best service I ever had. I appreciate Pierce who took care of us so well and suggested us the dishes. He even guided us with Appetisers and made sure that we love every moment in the restaurant. Amazing food, amazing service. Nice ambiance. It just create a vibe when you get such service from your server. If I have to rate I will rate 10/10 for service, 9.5/10 for food, 10/10 for ambiance. Must try, I tried lobster crab cake, lamb chops, my friend tried rib eye. All amazing food. Must try if you are around. read more

Food was made fresh to order. :) it almost feels like I had my own personal chef :)! We had a server for every part of the meals :) even water! The environment at night is very romantic and chill! It's a great spot for celebrations or a sexy date night out! read more

Disappointed! We've been ordering or dining with Capital grille for a while now but today an extremely off day! 2 of us ordered the porcini ribeye; one rare the other medium but they didn't label them so we had to cut into them to figure it out. The medium one was accurate but the rare one was cooked medium!! They also forgot to include the mint for lamb chops as requested when we called the order in. Bread and silverware were also missing. Since it was a pick up and they've done so well during our past visits, we didn't open the individual boxes to check. The only thing that was the same was the coconut cream pie. I sure hope this was just an off day! read more

The service was amazing. The food did take a while to come out but when it did it was impeccable. The salmon had the most crispy texture on top and was moist and juicy in the inside. The calamari was also good. Our service Nicole was so kind and knowledgeable regarding the generous pour wine selection. All of the wines that were sampled paired well with our dishes. The restaurant was a little loud but it was a Friday night . read more

Fine dining always takes things to a new level! We were pleasantly greeted by many people when we arrived and the waiter was a gem. We were here for restaurant week and got the two salads, the filet Mignon with creamed spinach and mashed potatoes and tried both the cheesecake and espresso flour cake for dessert. My friend also got the stoli doli cocktail which they are known for. The field green salad was surprisingly tasty for a salad, I got the filet mignon cooked the chefs way which was a bit rarer. It was very tender and delicious. Both desserts were great but i prefer chocolate so the espresso chocolate cake was my favorite (it is also decaf). My friend didn't love the stoli doli and thought it was too strong. Overall great experience and food! Will definitely be back. read more
Stopped in last minute. Sat at the bar, the staff was nice. The food was delicious, we enjoyed everything we ordered and the drinks were made to perfection. The bar area is large and holds a lot of people. I didn't get to see the rest of the restaurant but I'm sure it was just as beautiful as the bar area. Would definitely go back. Was so hungry and the food was so delicious that I didn't get any photos of it. read more
Some of the food was ok this go round but I had a really weird experience. The SA kept calling me sir and I started to feel like it was intentional after the 4th time. It made me feel awkward, I was there for a birthday dinner. Our server on the other hand was great. We did have to send back a Caesar salad. The lobster Mac and cheese is always good. read more

The burgers was amazing. We loved our waiter Adam. We decided to sit outside because the weather was nice. Pairing wine with this burger meal was a great idea. I will definitely be back with more friends before the special ends in November. read more

We loved our dinner here! The balsamic ribeye was the best steak ever. You are absolutely missing out if you don't get this. We had the burrata to start - delicious and really fresh tasting tomatoes. The clam chowder & lobster bisque were both really good. I'm a chowder girl so that was my favorite but my boyfriend loved the bisque. We got creamed spinach and lobster mac and cheese as sides - they were good, but I've hd better versions of both. The cheesecake dessert was to die for and the flourless chocolate cake was amazing as well. Adam was our server & he was amazing. So attentive & great recommendations. read more

Very juicy and tender ribeye and steak, with a rich flavor in the filet mignon. The tuna tartare was simply good, while the buns and bread were incredibly delicious. The service and interior were just superb--very cozy and inviting. Of course, it's pricey for a casual dinner out, but if there's a special occasion, it's worth it. An excellent place, highly recommended. read more

Came here for my birthday and was really appreciative of the service we receieved but I felt the food didn't live up to their usual caliber. I had went to the Raleigh location and was so pleased with everything I ordered but when I came here it didn't compare. I started with a salad, the one containing beets, goat cheese, and citrus vignagrette. The salad wasn't dressed enough and had too much goat cheese. My filet mignon was good but I felt the vegetables it came with weren't cooked well, they still had some toughness to them. The spinach with garlic confit was very bland, I was expecting it to be sauteed with a little more skill. And then lastly the lobster mac and cheese...horrible. This was the worst part of the meal, it seemed as if they hadn't baked it in the oven following plating it or didn't broil the top...I'm not sure but the lobster was tough and the dish wasn't very hot. I hope this was just a one time occurence due to the reputation of Capital Grille, it might just be the Charlotte location. Either way, not sure if I'd come back over choosing another elevated dining option. read more

After traveling a lot recently, I realized how much I've missed that classic Southern hospitality--and Jose delivered. I stopped in for lunch, and he was not only attentive but also let us know about the dinner menu and what was available. The restaurant filled up quickly, but the service remained consistent throughout. The food was delicious, and I'm so glad we decided to come. read more

Did the generous pour summer event! Loved the experience of trying out new wines before committing to a few glasses. I ordered the chicken breast and my friend got the salmon. Both were very flavorful. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the wine options and very personable. The food was slow to come out and the ambiance is a bit noisy. I felt like I was yelling a few times. Would definitely come back though. read more
