I've never left a review on yelp, but this was an extremely underwhelming experience. My wife and I came here on a Tuesday evening for dinner. We sat at a high top in the bar area. To start, the server brought a chipped water glass. She was slow to check on us for the whole evening. The appetizer plates were not properly cleaned. Oysters Rockefeller were good, but the deviled eggs were grocery store food court quality. The appetizers took about 30 minutes to come out. The entrees (filet and scallops) took almost 45 minutes to come out. By far the longest wait for food I've ever had at a steakhouse, especially for a weeknight. The filet was very overcooked and the texture was terrible. Scallops were good, but I wasn't able to eat the risotto (I am GF) and the waitress didn't offer any subs. The waitress didn't clear any of our appetizer plates, until we asked. She didn't bring new silverware. I had to walk up to the bar to request a steak knife. She maybe checked on us 3 times in the 1.5 hours we were there, and no the bar wasn't busy at all. She probably had 4 tables. For spending $160 (without drinks) on dinner, I will never be coming back to Sullivans. I will go to Flemings, Vinny's, Perry's, Ruth's Chris, Capital Grill, or even Firebirds before I would come back to this place. 2/10 read more

That, and the hostess tried to seat us in some back room despite the main dining room being hardly occupied, under the pretense of balancing server load. The new management also asks servers to have you cut your steak in half upon arrival to verify proper cook. Absolutely NOT. This is a high end steakhouse and I should not have to butcher my meal to check your work. Longtime customer -- final visit I've eaten at Sullivan's Steakhouse 20+ times over the years, which makes this experience especially disappointing. The restaurant was freezing -- easily in the low 60s. Guests throughout the bar and dining room were wearing coats; one even had a beanie on. We politely asked about the heat and were told it was "on full blast," despite cold air blowing. The bartender (who was excellent) said we were the 10th group to complain and that this has been an issue for weeks. Management, he said, doesn't care. Dinner matched the temperature. After splitting a steak, two lobster tails, and a bottle of wine -- $130 per person -- the lobster tails were tough and barely warm, the French onion soup was cold under the cheese, and the steak ordered medium-rare came out medium. Cold restaurant. Cold food. Indifferent management. I've recommended Sullivan's for years. I won't anymore. Go to Capital Grille or Ruth's Chris instead. read more

My sea bass and our filet was really good. Unfortunately the rest of the meal was average at best . We have been going there for many years and this was a subpar experience. The asparagus risotto was sticky with only a few stems of asparagus. The salads were small, and don't add bacon to your wedge unless you want to pay an extra $6 for a few sprinkles. I came with my wife on a Saturday for lunch and the place was empty except for one other table. By the end of our lunch, there were about 3 or 4 more tables, but the space was largely empty. We were seated at a booth and the tablecloth had 2 stains about 2-3 inches in diameter in a very conspicuous place. It was probably clean, but it was just an eyesore. We ordered the business lunch, both getting the Shrimp and Lobster Bisque to start. The flavor was fine, but there was definitely no shrimp or lobster in the bisque - it was all soup. I ordered the "Prime Delmonico Steak" which was honestly closer to a cheap diner steak than a prime anything. I ordered it medium rare and it came out closer to medium well. Not impressive at all. I got the side of Roasted Garlic Parmesan Fries, which was also unimpressive - fries with some grated parmesan cheese on top. My wife got the Salmon, which was actually tender and flavorful. She forgot to request it cooked rare, which they were able to accommodate after she had ordered, so she was appreciative of that - it's actually the only reason why I'm willing to give more than one star. Her side of Brussels Sprouts was also pretty good - the pieces of bacon in it was a nice touch. The service was friendly and prompt, and street parking was free on the weekends, so that was a nice perk. But overall, our experience at Sullivan's was very underwhelming and I don't see us coming back, especially at the price point. read more

My family chose to dine at Sullivan's restaurant on Christmas, anticipating a relaxing evening, excellent service and delicious food. Unfortunately, our experience was the opposite of our expectations! We should have known from the moment what appeared to be Hawaiian dinner rolls were served, in lieu of French baguettes, that something was off. Apparently, Sullivan's had run out of baguettes. Then it took three choices for one member of our party to find a glass of wine that was still available. The bar was completely backed up, and about 45 minutes passed before the wine was served. The same thing happened when that individual ordered a main course--his first two choices were no longer available, and he had to settle on a third option. All of this took time as our server went back and forth from our table to the kitchen and bar. Finally, after an hour and a half, three members of our party received at least part of their meals, while the other member had to wait another 20 minutes or so, which meant we were unable to enjoy our Christmas dinner together. While my salmon was delicious, the asparagus risotto I ordered was missing the asparagus! I assume the kitchen had run out of that, along with the other items mentioned above. Meanwhile, refills on water and wine were few and far between, or non-existent. In addition, efforts had been made ahead of time to arrange for a suitable vegetarian option for one member of the party, which the restaurant seemed amenable to doing. Yet nothing was arranged as anticipated, and, after several attempts to find something she could eat, she was served a baked potato loaded with bacon, which had to be sent back. Another individual ordered sweet potato casserole, which arrived first, and French onion soup, which arrived later, cold. The whole evening consisted of waiting for service, and waiting some more. Another wait for the check led to our being in the restaurant for approximately three hours, and it was far from the restful, enjoyable evening we had anticipated. Our server (whose name we were not given) appeared to be doing his best, but his best was not able to make up for the problems in the kitchen and bar areas. In the end, recognizing the problems we had experienced, our server only charged us for two entrees, but that did not begin to compensate for our disappointment in the evening overall. If Sullivan's is going to be open for Christmas dining, they should do it right, or not at all. read more

Shannon was incredible as our waitress. We received an email about your tomahawk and lobster special which prompted us to make a reservation. We were "greeted" by a hostess that simply pointed and told us to take the first booth on the left. The menus were on the seats of the booth. Not what I expect from a premier steakhouse . Shannon and the manager jumped through hoops to overcome the apathy of your hostesses. When leaving, I stopped at the host stand and told the hostess that the dining experience started with her so she should be more attentive and welcoming. Her flippant attitude confirmed that she could not care less about the customer experience. Valet parking is NOT free. You have to validate it at the restaurant for a fee of $6. If you don't validate it costs $20. We had a reservation for 7 but they had plenty of space so sat us when we arrived at 6:40. Lighting is dim with a very homey vibe. White table clothes your typical fine dining atmosphere. Our waitress came over and asked us for drinks. My fiancé got their Sullivans Cab and I did a mocktail. His wine came out along with our waters. We ordered a salad and soup. *I thought it was odd our waitress left the empty wine glass in my setting even though I didn't order wine. Normally that should have been removed from the table setting. About 20 mins go by and finally our apps come. Still no mocktail so our waitress goes to check. Soup was a tad warm. Would have liked it much hotter. The salad wasn't anything to write home about. Very basic wedge. Finally the mocktail came. Along with our main items. The time between when the apps came and the main dish was only 5 minutes. *the waitress either didn't pick up our apps in time or should have had the kitchen hold the main dish. Instead she sits it down to crowd the very small table. *both our waters were almost empty. We had ribeye and chicken dishes that were good. Not once were we checked on throughout this. Our waters were now empty. *at least another 15 minutes goes by before she comes back to ask about desert. At that time we are over it as we would have had another round of drinks/mocktails but no one ever came to check. Still no check after we asked. Finally after we asked a second time we get it. Sullivan's presents itself as a classic, upscale steakhouse but it doesn't meets most of the standards to merit that name. The steaks weren't bad but at these prices I expect superlative. They were good and cooked to the requested temperatures but nothing out of the ordinary. The garlic mashed potatoes were rather good. It would have been nice to have more than a few tablespoonfuls, though. Bread and butter were unremarkable and desserts are standard issue US Foods/Sysco frozen and defrosted. Oh, and the room is attractive and atmospheric, even if the tables are packed in like the subway at rush hour. Here's where Sullivan's misses: No coat check. At these prices I don't expect to have to sit with a winter coat in my lap. Unnecessary tableware left on the table throughout the entire meal. Once it was clear that two diners were not drinking wine those glasses should have been removed. They weren't. A dirty knife was removed from a plate and replaced on the table to be used for the next course. Bread plate left on table throughout the meal even though it was empty and dirty. It took requests to have water glasses refilled and to have the side dishes served. Food issues: I don't think I've ever seen such thin steaks served at a restaurant. One point of appeal at a steakhouse is the thick, luscious slab on beef on your plate. I don't think that 2 of the steaks even hit the 1-inch mark. The wild mushroom side dish was a reasonably tasty, if somewhat salty dish of plain whole button mushrooms with maybe one slice of shiitake mushroom. I could be mistaken, though. That one slice could have been my imagination. The lobster "risotto" was an embarrassment. I have no idea how the kitchen thought it was a good idea to send that out. The dish was slightly warm, very mushy, and tasted as if it was made days ago. It had no seasoning beyond a slightly fishy undertone and looked thoroughly unappealing. The tell was that the menu listed cream as an ingredient. That isn't a luxury ingredient. It's a cheat that the kitchen uses to avoid having to properly cook the rice in the first place. There is a prix fixe meal available that you have to know to ask for. The steak is 8-oz which I consider to be a reasonable serving. Everything else on that meal is cutting corners. If you want bacon on the wedge salad, that's an up charge. The side of otherwise tasty mashed potatoes wasn't even kiddie sized. Okay, I've done this once. No need to repeat. read more

We shared the charred oysters which 4 came with it and that was really good. I got the shaved prime rib sandwich with French fries and it was just meh. Nothing spectacular coming from a steakhouse to be honest. My mom had a steak with spinach and she enjoyed it. My brother also had a steak with Brussel sprouts but had to send the Brussel sprouts back because they were burnt. We did have a few cocktails which were tasty and a cheesecake that was too. Quite a selection of dinners on offer, especially for you steak lovers. I wont write more of the menu, because it is all online. I have been there twice now, with a party of four. All of us happy with our tasty and well cooked to order(if applicable) dinners, sides, and dessert. Service was a bit slow my most recent visit, but not terribly so. Ambience is old school steak house, formally dressed wait staff, dark wood panelling, no external light, but thankfully no cigar smoke(for those of us of a certain age). The big issue with me, is the "dress code" if you can call it that. The published guidelines are "No hats, tank tops, flip flops, team athletic attire, items with offensive odor, images or language and overly casual or revealing clothing". All well and good, but not good enough! Look, when I spend the money for a good fancy steakhouse dinner, I do not want to see fellow male diners in t-shirts, shorts, blue jeans or athletic shoes! We've been to Sullivan's a few times - both for individual reservations as well as part of a NYE special they put on. The best thing about Sullivan's is they make it an experience. It is really lovely. I would take the opportunity to indulge in it all, drinks, apps, steak, and dessert. They've impressed me every time so I truly don't think you can go wrong in your choice. They also have a lovely staff and will occasionally have live music. There is valet parking, which I encourage if you're going in the evening because parking on Glenwood can be difficult. But if not valet, there is street parking available, as well as a parking deck right beside the restaurant. Definitely encourage a reservation, and if you're wanting to go around a major holiday, book a month in advance. read more

Sadly, this visit was the worst dining experience I've ever had, and completely ruined what should've been a special night. We were seated in the back of the restaurant, which would've been fine if not for the chaos coming from the kitchen. Staff were loudly yelling, swearing, and even throwing items -- we could clearly hear someone shouting that they "didn't need this job." Not the ambiance you expect at a steakhouse with premium pricing. Service was painfully slow. It took 45 minutes to get our salad (after being told the soup I wanted was no longer available), and another 15 minutes just for bread. We waited an hour and a half before our entrées arrived, and both steaks were completely overcooked -- well-done when we ordered rare. I had asked for mine Oscar-style and instead got cold crab, lukewarm asparagus, and what tasted like hot, rancid cheese. We asked for a manager, who arrived visibly disheveled. I don't say that to nitpick -- but again, when you're charging top dollar, the presentation and professionalism matter. She told us, "Sunday is the worst day to come," which left us wondering: if that's the case, why even open? She did offer to replace the steaks, but my husband's second one looked like it had been sitting for half an hour and was charred beyond recognition. To top it off, no silverware was brought to the table. Someone finally dropped off a set -- but gave it to me, without a knife. At that point, we'd been there over two hours and still hadn't had a proper meal. I asked to leave. This location may not miss our business, but I'll be advising everyone I know to stay far away.
