I came here to get a quick small takeout. The people were quick with their service and the food was delicious

Okay, the food is delicious. But the reason why I'm knocking them with my rating is because of them getting my orders wrong. 80% of the time. That is not an exaggeration. I ordered takeout from them five consecutive times, and four of the times they made mistakes on my order. The pattern has to do with side dishes. For example, if you order a side of fries very unlikely it will be included in your bag. If you order a side of falafel or hummus, same thing. Missing. I ordered a side of rice. Missing. On a separate occasion I asked for a salad with no dressing, because they're dressing is really not great at all, and yet they put dressing all over the salad. Their service is friendly. Don't get me wrong. But there's something seriously wrong either with their order taking system, communication between the cashier and the cooking staff, or something else. It's beyond frustrating when this happens 80% of the time. I really urge the staff at sultan's kebab to do a process review and fix this issue. It's a shame because your food is so good. But this is happening way too often and you need to resolve it read more

For over a dozen years now, I have been losing my head with eateries. The prices have skyrocketed, the portions have shrunk, and neighborhood fast food joints have turned into pretentious "artisans"; World's Biggest Eye Roll. This food is good eating, big portions, and I didn't have to mortgage my first child out. Who gives a frick about over presentation and new fusion cuisine? I have been to this place, but the next time around is surprising. I was amazed by the changes in the restaurant. I am liking the new looks and set up. It has more a cozy restaurant sit down vibes, not like the fast-food place. I also noticed they expanded their menu options with which I couldn't help to try the Beyti. Beyti= It's lamb meat wrapped with tomato sauce and yogurt in the middle with a touch of roasted green bell pepper. The chicken shawarma was excellent. We are regulars. My son loves the food. It IS usually very good. Occasionally the chicken shish turns out rubbery. I might ask them to make sure the chicken kebab is well done or diffidently cooked. I don't like they started charging for extra pita and there are games with switching in extra rice for salad. They might let you or might not. And this guy up front is inexperienced. I got charged for tea on my to go order when he said I can't get tea to go, so you have to check the bill I'm saying. And I'll ask for pita toasted and I have to check it as done because they say they'll do it and usually forget. So I like the place but they're so busy you have to check everything before driving off. read more

Went here for the first time with my coworkers for a birthday and it was absolutely delicious! I wasn't in a mood for meat so I ordered the falafel wrap which came with a side of salad ($8.99). The falafel was still a bit crispy inside of the wrap and the tahini sauce was light and flavorful. Definitely will return again to try the other items! read more

This is a nice joint. I like the quick and no frills service. The food taste great. The Food is tastier than it's sister restaurant in Danville. Perhaps they cater to a different demographics in Danville with lesser spices which gives the food its flavor. The plate portions are generous and of good value. The falafels are absolutely the best after Babaloo's in Walnut Creek. The lamb shawarma is very flavorful. Kefta kabobs and Adana are absolutely great. You know, for the longest time, I had a really nice rough draft all set up about this place. Only, it had to be altered drastically. I've gone here for years, many many times for both lunch and dinner, but today will be my last. And they're lucky I'm being generous giving them a second star. Yes, their prices are reasonable, and their plates were pretty good, but I really don't know what to say anymore. Service is normal, but none of them seem to smile during rush-hour lunchtime. Today, I ordered a Lamb Shish Salad ($10.99) in which the lamb was really tender but it came with an eyebrow hair. Didn't make a big deal of it as I brushed it off. As I mixed my salad up even more, I found a second eyebrow hair. I don't think it was nose hair or genital hair, but I nearly lost my appetite. I just brushed off the second one as well. They're lucky I'm in a good mood as I didn't complain, but I should have. Plus, I was starving. Eh, don't care to ever go back. Two stars for the two hairs. read more

This place is sooo close to our work location that it has become a default lunch spot when we don't want to go too far. It is not my first choice, but it is a reliable option. We have been here numerous times and my go-to order is the falafel plate. It is pretty filling and the falafel balls are usually yummy. I say usually, as lately this has not been consistent. They allow me to substitute the salad (which I don't like here) with extra rice... and I like their soft buttery rice. Their hummus and pita are OK. Nothing great. They have expanded this place and the new space looks pretty. There is always a line to order though. The employees have varying degrees of friendliness. As someone else mentioned, they have increased their price and the quality is not consistent. read more

Meh. I am vegetarian and this review applies to some of their vegetarian options ONLY. There was some hype about this place in my circle. Being a huge fan of Middle Eastern food and as someone who prepares Middle Eastern food myself, I wanted to try this. So, we drove from Fremont to eat there. Here are my observations: 1. Their falafels had a nice crunch to them. However, they are bland. I could hardly taste any garlic or salt. 2. Hummus was an absolute downer. I don't mind the grittiness but that's not the issue. Again, it was bland. There was hardly any tahini or lime/lemon juice. We had to squeeze lemon to make it taste remotely like hummus. Also, it lacked cumin and could use a little bit more garlic. Who makes hummus without enough tahini, lemon juice, garlic and cumin? Ugh... 3. Falafel wraps were dry and bland, thanks to the bland falafels. They were wrapped in lavash bread. But there was nothing in them. Just a couple of falafels thrown in with a little bit of hummus and lettuce and some sumac. 4. Their Piyaz (Chick pea salad) was tasty. Overall, utter disppointment. Food and service has always been 5 stars however today... who ever packaged my salad had it literally swimming in dressing. Rice was a little undercooked as well. Like most people we parked on the plaza lot to avoid the $10 parking fee. There are tow away signs for non-customers but these are never enforced. Our order came super fast: - The dolmas (plenty for $4.99) were pretty average and did not seem super fresh - The lamb shawarma salad ($14.99) was looking much more appealing that on the menu. The meat was delicious, the avocado was ripe and fresh, and portions were very generous. Unfortunately they were out of French fries :-( read more

Long time customer. Disappointed yesterday! Ordered takeout. It was late - 9:30pm. Chicken shwarma plate and chicken sheesh plate. Food was not properly heated. There were cold pieces in the stick. Clearly not fresh. VeObviously taken out of the fridge semi heated and packed in the boxes. :( ----- update as of 6/21/20 As I said in my original post I am a long term customer (since 2009). Except occasional mistakes I had no issues. So raising to 4 starts. I do appreciate their service during these difficult times. One more rare mistake. Last order was 4 wraps. I guess they ran out of material on the 4th one. The 4th one was mostly the shell. Half of it was normal. So not a big issue. Must be a unintended mistake. My coworker and I came here during lunch after debating between this and Gotta Eatta Pitta. It was my first time here and I was pleasantly surprised at all the seating space they have. The interior is very modern, and gives off almost like a farm-ish look. You order what you want at the counter, and you're given a number to place within your seating section. I got the combo plate which consisted of chicken, beef, salad, rice, hummus and pita bread. It was $13. For the portion and variety of the dish, I think the price is on point! Taste-wise, I really lovedddd the rice. I don't know what they put in it, but it was super flavorful and moist and delicious. I just wanted to eat the rice alone. The sad part of this dish was that the two meats were just ok. The steak was really really dry and hard to eat, I was pretty disappointed. The chicken was better than the steak but not by much. I really look forward to the meats when I eat Mediterranean food, so it was a let down. The manager was very nice to us, and he brought out an extra side of pita bread - which made me excited because I had leftovers and could eat it with the bread! A+ for that service. read more

i've eaten here 3 times. this is a great new middle eastern concept restaurant. if executed properly, which so far so good, i could see lots of these popping up all over the place. did a bit more digging and find out that they have 3 locations already. i've been to only the one in Pleasanton. People were very patient and helpful. last time i was there and had the Beyti Kebab. Oh my gentle jesus was delicious. it was a home run. i really like exploring menu's, but after trying that dish, it will be difficult to order other items, when you know that's lurking on the menu. It's not the best place for those on a diet. The force of the Turkish delights right when you walk in is strong, and will be with you until you by something as you walk out the door. i like the concept and can't wait till the open on the west side of 580. read more

My husband & I were craving shawarma after watching The Avengers (for the 100th time). We've eaten at Sultan's before but moved a few years back and haven't been back. We were in the area & decided to stop at Sultan's for dinner after our hike. Right outside the main door was an easy scanner for ordering online & hand sanitizer inside. Prices are super reasonable and for the amount of food we got, it was well worth it. The food was delicious, warm and totally satisfied our cravings. Been going here for 2.5 years since we found out about the place in Pleasanton. The staff has always been friendly. The owner is very conscientious (I met him one day as he was doing some paperwork at one of the tables near the entry.) He keeps improving the restaurant by adding new display cases with delicious desserts. He also kept making improvements to the back of the dining area with a street lamp post, and small white park bench, clever signeage on the backdrop of ivy style wall decor. Great ambiance. Solid Mediterranean option in the suburban East Bay! I got the Vegi Plate via delivery and generally enjoyed it! It came with 2 falafel, 2 dolmas, hummus, piyaz, baba ghanouj, and tabbouleh. The food was generally pretty good, and the portion sizes were standard (just enough for one meal). The falafels were very light and crispy and the dolmas were well seasoned but not too salty. The hummus, piyaz, baba ghanouj, and tabbouleh were fairly typical - definitely hits the spot when you're craving Mediterranean. read more

Let's talk about the goods: ==================== I've eaten here when I was still a *gasp* omnivore (no judgement to my meat eating peeps) and the combo Shawarma was my go-to & always amazing. Now that I have made my commitment to vegetarianism for my very own reasons this past July, I have come to rely on Sultan's Kebab to deliver the very BEST in Mediterranean fare that caters to both vegetarians as well as to our vegan homies. That being said, I've had many a Falafel ball in my mouth in my lifetime. Refrain from your giggle, now. Or don't. I haven't enjoyed a more tasty or more perfectly constructed falafel - ever. I also have quite a weakness for their Baba Ghanoush. Say that 5 times fast. The smoky flavor and delicate creaminess pairs perfectly with their delicious pita bread. Toss in some Tabbouleh and Hummus and you've got yourself quite the filling (and freaking amazeballs) meal! I recently sampled their Veggie Platter that comes literally loaded in all the Veggie works - you've got your hummus, your baba, your tabbouleh, a couple mouth watering falafel balls, some amazing dolma (stuffed grape leaves) as well as piyaz, (a kind of salad or meze that is made from any kind of dry beans with onion, parsley and sumac) in which theirs was made with expertly prepared garbanzos. As I said, literally everything that is made here is so fresh! OMG and their rice - yummerz! And if you're into garlic fries - not only do they have them available here, they also have Feta-Garlic Fries! So you can get your feta-fix and not have to worry about vampires trying to bite ya - probably no one else, either until you bust out some Listerine or at least a mint LOL. Different combo I hadn't seen anywhere and glad I sampled it! Don't even get me started on their baklava (a rich, sweet dessert pastry made of layers of filo filled with chopped nuts and sweetened and held together with syrup or honey). I feel a bit weird explaining what THAT is, however I know I have a few friends who live under a rock and have never yet tried the stuff. Pity. Damn decent sized servings of it, too! Inside scoop: =========== Super cool vibe inside the place, always spotless & very tidy with both indoor as well as outdoor seating available.
