I found the korma and especially the karahi more thin than I prefer. I like the "sauce" thicker in consistency. Also, the top note of spices was not my favorite ... but taste is subjective and this is just my personal preference. However, they were generous with the chicken! The vegetable biryani was lacking in veggies too. There were a few peas and mostly chunks of cauliflower. It just sort of missed the mark for me. But I wouldn't advise anyone not to go there or anything; the business has been around for quite a while! It just wasn't my personal favorite given my other choices but I wanted to try a new place for Indian food. Prices were pretty much on par with other Indian restaurants in the area.

The flavor profile is not "rounded down" for the average Buffalo palate. For me, this is a great thing! There are many vegetarian options, and some vegan ones as well: Lots of chickpea dishes, potato based dishes, vegetable pulao, paneer curries, and pooris, parathas, and naans. We had the vegetable samosas to start, stuffed with potatoes and peas, served with a sweet chili sauce. The kalak chai and Kashmiri chai were both excellent; the latter with a froth and topped with chopped pistachios. The garlic naan was hot from the oven, perfect amount of char on the back. For entrees my husband ordered the mutton pulao, which was tender from hours of simmering, and fragrant with the aroma of cinnamon. My BBQ fish arrived on an iron sizzling platter, with a chilli-based dry rub, caramelized onion slices, and what I thought were sweet green peppers. Nope! These were the hell-hot cousins, complete with seeds! Another patron, noticing me wiping my eyes, told me that sweet green peppers are not a part of Pakistani cuisine....so now I know, and respect them. BTW, the complementary raita served with the meal was the remedy: a tablespoon of this, and the heat disapated. I really loved the fish: It had sweet flesh and it was perfectly cooked, falling from the bone. I also loved the hot green pepper slices, once I got over the shock of it! In the 90 minutes we were there, we were the only people who were not Southeast Asian. The owner/chef/waiter was handily managing the flow, and checked on us often. He explained that soon the menu would be expanded to include curries. For additional atmosphere, the sound system was playing Dua Lipa hits, "Despacito," and 2010's cover songs in Punjabi or Urdu. Loved it. If you're in the area in the morning, the restaurant opens at 10 am and has a dozen breakfast items. Catering available.

What not to get: garrotted by one of Q's gadgets. Absolutely spectacular Indian food hidden away in the wonderful West Side Bazaar. One of the newer stands this place specializes in the egg Curry and especially the car. Chicken Karahi is a Pakistani specialty which is absolutely delicious. These guys know how to make it. Every bite is absolutely wonderful. Prices under $10 in the portion will fill you up. It's nice and oily just the way I like it. Indian food is a little like Chinese and Mexican food in that (a) there are a massive number of varieties, many of which are nothing like each other, and (b) the majority of people in the US don't know or understand the cuisine whatsoever. What most Americans think is Indian, Chinese or Mexican food is absolutely not. It's probably bland, overly-sugary gentrified crap that was literally invented to sell to Americans, which the majority of people from the culture or country in question, would never go near. Such as the dish "Butter Chicken" which is about as authentic as a Taco Bell taco. And as bland, sugary, and spiceless, too. Yay Murica. What you need to do when you go for Indian or Pakistani food - if you've chosen well and picked a place that has some real Indian food, like this stand does - is to pick dishes that are actually authentic. In this case, the Egg Curry and the Chicken Karahi are both delicious, full of flavour and spice, and must-try dishes. The samosa is also excellent. If you haven't been to the West Side Bazaar, you haven't really experienced Buffalo Cuisine. We have some of the most delicious treats hidden around the region and this place is one of the very best. While you're in here, get a fruit smoothie (no milk, ask for real fruit) from Gourmet Lao, as well as the sticky rice from 007 and the Garlic Chicken soup from the Burmese place across from M Asian. Now I'm going to write to the Broccoli family (and the late Ian Fleming) and Daniel Craig (and Sean Connery) and ask when the hell they are going to make M Asian. Speaking of which, I'll take the rapists for 400. And I want Swords for 600. That's not what your mother said last night Trebek.

We started with the lentil soup, boiling hot and full of lemon juice and black pepper. Mango lassis for both of us, and when we asked for tap water, we were given an entire pitcher of ice water for the table, with two cups. My husband ordered lamb handi, cubes of tender meat in a thick gravy with tomatoes, onions and green peppers. He had ordered it "Medium spicy", but I think the kitchen was grading on a curve: It was less punchy than the soup. Still, I wouldn't order "Hot" as I once did here: The chef takes pride in his liberal use of peppers at this level. (The menu warns you: "This is a dish for stronger constitutions"). My lamb shashlik was char grilled on a skewer (thoughtfully removed prior to serving) with slices of tomato, onions and green peppers, plated on a sizzling iron plate. The chunks of lamb had been marinated: They were so tender! The garlic naan? Fresh from a tandoor oven, with a little char, lots of butter and garlic, and a little parsley. It was so fresh and good! After the meal our waiter asked us if we would like tea, but I couldn't have eaten anything more (though I strongly recommend their creamy rice pudding!)
