I've worked with several moving companies in the past, and Summit Moving has to be the best. Amazing customer service and hard working movers! Nick was great at following up with several questions I had leading up to the move date and the movers, Victor and Jeremiah, were very efficient. They made sure to ask questions if they weren't sure about something and were very strategic and careful when moving furniture through tight doorways. UPDATED REVIEW ON 1/5/2021: I spoke with Nick this morning regarding the issues below. The email box I sent my inquiries to were "no reply" boxes, though I didn't receive a reply that they were, and Nick never received them. I consider this to be a small business error. Nonetheless, Nick and I talked about the issues and Summit made up for the fiasco described below by refunding us the extra $200 that we spent for the extra labor and hotel. Additionally, I feel I was a bit unfair in my review. The crew that did show up on the 18th were on-time, clean, friendly, and efficient. They did not damage any of the walls in our brand-new home and put all the furniture together and in place. They even move the recliners twice since they wouldn't fit into our living room. I would have given 5 stars if it weren't for original issues with the move. However, I really do appreciate the company reaching out and making things right. It goes a long way and should be a lesson to all businesses out there to take care of your customers. It really does matter. Thank you Summit. ORIGINAL REVIEW ON 1/4/2022: I made arrangements for a 12/17 move date on 11/9 with confirmations on 12/9. We had everything to go for the move and stayed at a hotel on the 16th as everything was stripped down to move. On 12/17 at 8am, I received a call from Nick stating that two of his guys called in "sick" and that he was "scrambling" to get extra guys to get the move completed. Lo and behold, Nick couldn't deliver and had to reschedule for the next day. This caused us to spend an unplanned additional night in the hotel. Nick said he would get four guys to help quicken the move. As a result, he raised the hourly rate. I asked emailed Nick asking, "Why did my estimate increase?" I received no response. At this point, I had to bite the bullet and proceed as I had to move out of the apartment we were living in. On the 18th, the guys showed up on time. We asked about being masked since we were told they were sick and were told that no one called in sick. Two of the guys that were supposed to move us on the 17th were out of town. So Nick lied to us to cover his inability to appropriately plan his required labor for the day. When the move was completed, Summit Moving provided us with a 10% discount for our trouble. After I did the math, it ended up costing us $200 more than the original estimate because Summit added an additional guy raising the hourly rate, which would not have been needed had they showed up as promised, and the extra night in a hotel for us. I wrote an email to Nick with no response and this is what my email stated verbatim: "Dear Summit Moving, While I appreciate the gesture of a 10% discount, it rings hollow since Summit sent four guys instead of three costing us $56.70 more per hour. The move ended up actually costing us $43.56 more on our move than the original estimate of $888.53. Because guys were scheduled who were actually out of town yesterday causing Summit to miss my move yesterday morning, we had to spend another night in a hotel as everything was stripped down in anticipation of a Friday move. This cost us an additional $156.00. So overall, Summit's error ended up costing us $200.00 more than it should.  We would like that money back please." I would never give this company my business nor recommend it to others. We learned of this company at a home show in portland and so when we were ready to move I gave them a call. Nic came out to gather information for a bid and said he would have it to me later the same afternoon. Then came radio silence. Never heard from him again despite repeated phone calls. The professional thing to have done would have been to say that he didn't want the business ( for whatever the reason ). The fact that he ghosted me says he is unreliable. read more

Up until move day, the owner Nick was extremely professional, quick to respond, communicative, and kind. While I originally made the move request for 12-4pm, he emailed me the day before the move and said the team wouldn't arrive until 1-2pm. Fine. Not ideal, but we can make it work. Fast forward to moving day, and I called, texted, and emailed them multiple times to get more specific information about the arrival and see if there was any possibility of moving it up closer to 12. I wasn't expecting the change, but it can't hurt to ask. However, despite my multiple attempts to contact Nick, I got no response. I thought to myself - fine. I'll just wait until 2pm when they said they would arrive by. Sure enough, I didn't get any phone call until 2:30 pm - it was from one of the truck movers saying they locked the keys in the truck and are waiting for several more hours for road side assistance. At that point, I just canceled the service. This isn't even the worst part. I called, texted, and emailed Nick MULTIPLE TIMES asking for a phone call or some kind of commitment to the refund of my deposit due to the services not being performed. He didn't get back to me for several days, and even when he did email or call me back, he kept deferring the decision to refund me. I had to threaten to take him to small claims court to get my money back before he emailed me saying "I refunded you on Monday, did you not receive it?"...that would have been nice to know several days ago! Also - it is now Friday and I have not yet received the funds in my account. Which makes me think he possibly did not even refund me. One more note - I called the mover the next day as well to see if he had heard from the owner - sure enough the mover himself said no he hasn't heard from him despite multiple attempts to contact him and was concerned because he wasn't paid on time for his services! So not only is he horrible at customer service, but also doesn't pay his employees on time?? Long story short - based on the great customer service before move day, the positive reviews online, I thought this was a great moving company. However, I was completely wrong and disappointed. After now scrolling through the reviews, I'm noticing there are others that Nick at Summit has done this to as well...it's unfortunate that some of his customers get quality service and others just get screwed over. If I were you, I wouldn't risk it with them, in the off chance you'll be the next customer that gets screwed over. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. I have SO MANY words I could say but two come to mind (that arent profanities)...CHOP SHOP. UNPROFESSIONAL. MORALLY BANKRUPT. OK. That was 5....but.... The move was a mess. Two kids who dont truly know "how to move". By the time they were unloading, they were exhausted and not doing any kind of work that was meaningful. Several pieces of furniture were damaged and numerous areas in my brand new house were also damaged. I messaged the company several times with slow response. This was April. I was told reparations would be made and that monies were expected to come in as help for Covid so they could "make it right". I never heard back again. I have a chain of 20-something emails. No avail. Damaged goods. Abysmal service. I filed with BBB. I will file again for other damages. Be aware. I wanted to take more pride in my community, but seriously let down. You need to be very careful using this company. They were supposed to arrive to move my stuff on Sat May 15 between 8-8:30. Around 9am, I got a text message from the owner saying that one of the people supposed to work that day had an emergency and that he was working on getting a replacement. I got a text update at 11 and the final one around 11:30 saying that they would refund my deposit so I can find another mover. Two things went wrong here: 1) I did not get the sense that they have stand by help incase of emergencies of one of their movers. Otherwise they would have sent me their standby help 2) I did not get a courtesy phone call to discuss my options, may be get moved the following day or later in the week. I just got a bunch of texts with excuses on how Covid has hit the moving industry really hard and how they are "extremely understaffed." It was difficult explaining to my family that I had read a whole bunch reviews before choosing these guys, just to be left hanging. If you decide to go along with them, please make sure to ask about stand by help incase one of their people has an emergency., that way you are not left holding the bag with no back up plan on your part. read more

This was the most awful moving experience I have ever had. The movers showed up without the packing supplies we asked for. They did not wear face covers, which the manager Nick promised us they would. While loading they broke the legs off of my record player credenza and did not seem the least bit sorry. We filed a complaint and they have ignored our request for compensation. Then we get to our moving destination and many pieces of furniture, including family heirlumes, were just badly damaged. I have reached out again and still nothing. Don't use this company. You will regret it. They are not professionals, just a bunch of stoner kids that did not want to be there. I confirmed my move with Summit Movers over two weeks in advance and received confirmation and reminders around my upcoming move. On the day of my move they texted me saying there had been an emergency, that they were short staffed and asked if I could reschedule my move, that they would work on finding other movers for me. I responded that I could wait one day if needed, and they did not follow up in any way, either by text or phone despite my follow-up by text, and multiple voicemails. read more

Great guys!! We moved from a second-floor apartment to a house just across town and it was one of the painless moves I have ever had. The guys showed up a little early, got right to it, and were personable guys. When we got to the house it was right back at it even though it was a bit hot. All the furniture they took apart went right back together, happily put boxes and items in rooms we wanted and did so as neatly as possible. 100% recommend these guys. Nick is a good guy! Summit moving is the best moving company I've ever used, and I've hired many a moving company in the past. The first thing that's different about Summit is the owner, Nick. He's working on your estimate right away, and he knows his business. You'll get an accurate timing of your move, and in my case, it was right down to the minute. Now, this is the ordinary stuff that Summit and Nick excel at, but there's even more to love about this company. Darion and Dalontae were our movers today. The best thing about these two they were very professional. They called giving us updates about arrival time, came to us with any concerns, and was a pleasure to talk to. They were able to move our three bedroom townhome in three hours. We also enjoyed that the owner contacted us to set up the appointment, and verified everything. They were reasonably priced, and made our first leg of our cross country move. I hired movers for the first and was really skeptical about it cause I've heard some stories about peoples belongings being ruined or movers not showing etc., that was not the case with these folks. The owner Nick was great from the beginning and gave me a quote over the phone. I also had a couple items I needed to get rid of and they did that as well for a small extra charge. Scheduled moving for 12/16/2022. Nick was personable and helpful. They have a e-inventory, so that was nice. I could update things as I thought about it and planned a little better. Nick checked in with me a few times to confirm inventory. He was responsive via text while planning. The day came for the move and one of their people called out. They had to reschedule my move to the next day. This put a crimp in my plans as I had the entire weekend planned out and repair people coming to the NEW house for various items. I had to have people at the new house to mitigate that on moving day. The movers were young and fun. Personally, I'm glad we were all joking around, although some may have seen them as unprofessional. It took all day to move. My dining room chairs got some scratches, but it's a cheap set, so I wasn't too concerned about it. I sent some items home with the moving guys. Unfortunately, 1 of the items (a nightstand) had some items still in it. I texted Nick and it took a few weeks to resolve. He was less responsive at this point. It was my bad to not have thought about it and he was likely busy, but it was frustrating. He did give me a discount for the reschedule as it did cause some issues. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! These guys are awesome! The guys showed up on time and went to work! I lived on the third floor and they got everything out with ease and put it in my moving truck Tetris style. Got everything in there! They even helped me carry heavy things to the dumpster when I was having a hard time doing it myself. They wrapped up the TVs and everything got to my new home in one piece! I am shocked by the positive reviews! This company was recommended to me by a friend and hoo boy do I regret booking with them! I got a quote from Micah on 5/17/21 and paid a $100 deposit for them to come move my stuff on 6/12/21. I was told they would arrive sometime between 12p - 2p. At 11:50am I got an email from Nick say there was an issue with the morning move and it's causing a severe delay and that he would keep me updated. That's fine! I appreciated the heads up and emailed Nick back saying I will wait to hear from him. Well.. that's the last I ever heard from ANYONE there. I have emailed, called, left voicemails and sent texts and NOBODY responds to me. It is now 6/15/21 and they still have my $100 deposit! We were moving our 2B2B apartment within hillsboro OR. Nick has confirmed the timing on moving day and the 2 young guys were on time!!! they were very cheerful and started the work right away. They have made the move very easy and less painful. They have also used sticky wraps/clothes to all the furniture. They have unloaded all the items and assembled bedframes and cribs. No hidden fees and they worked for 4 hours without any issues. Definitely recommended. Note for all tenants: Please make sure you are not going with any craiglist guys who never talk to you on the phone and only texts you. My 2015 year move was horrible in which craiglist guy hasn't shown up. Please use professional movers like SUMMIT movers. read more

We absolutely loved working with Summit Moving for our small scale furniture transfer from my in laws' house to ours. I submitted a few inquiries to different moving companies on Yelp, but Nick from Summit Moving was the only one to actually call me to get a better idea of what we needed and give me an exact quote on the spot. The three hour minimum wasn't ideal given how little we needed done, but the personal touch and the low rate made this well worth the extra $50 or so we could have saved elsewhere. Besides, Nick got his movers out to our home on a Monday, just three days after booking us. The movers were very nice, professional, and showed up right at the beginning of their time slot. They were also really sweet to my little boy, who was a bit traumatized from our recent interstate move and screamed a lot when he thought we were moving again. Once he realized they were just at our house to move furniture, he went up and tried to play with them, and they were very kind about it. We really loved working with Nick and his team, and though we should be done with moving for a long time, we would call them for moving needs again in a heartbeat. How would you RATE a company that never showed up for their 2pm appointment printed on the company's confirmation ; How would you RATE the owner of Summit Moving advising by text at 5:07pm that he could not move us on Friday, July 31, the day he was suppose to be there at 2pm.!! BTW--Rental trucks on the last day of the month were no where to be found at 6PM... Sorry, but this guy does not look after his customer's interest as stated on his website..
