I moved a couple weeks ago from one house to another. Nick and Wedge would have shown up on time had I not missed typed my own address. They called to let me know they could not find my address and were very understanding and still showed up with great attitudes even though I set the whole move behind. I was not moving everything from the 1st house to the next home. Nick and Wedge double checked on items to make sure the correct things were being loaded. They also added a stop inbetween both homes so I could clear out my storage. They wrapped all the items that could be damaged in moving blankets and saran wrap. The two of them took care of all my belongings and nothing was damaged. When we arrived at my new home they unloaded everything and asked where I wanted things. I requested quotes from multiple moving companies in the Portland Metro area, and Summit Moving ended up being the most competitive in terms of cost of manpower per hour. Nick helped me schedule my move and took down information about my household belongings in order to estimate the number of movers needed and the size of the truck. On moving day, Logan and Christian were my movers. They were friendly, kind and very receptive to directions. They were able to move two bedrooms, two offices, a living room and a dining room of furniture as well as some garage items in about five hours from start to finish (old residence to new residence is about 5 miles). This included 2 flights of stairs at our old place and one flight of stairs at our new residence. They took care to wrap furniture with plastic wrap and used protective cloth on the stairs to avoid tracking in dirt. All in all, the truck was packed but they played Tetris with everything very well. My husband and I appreciated their hard work, which made our lives much easier during a somewhat stressful time (when is moving not stressful?!). Oh how I hate moving- but working with the team from Summit Moving made it a breeze! Nick was great in scheduling and explaining all the costs, and then was even flexible to pull my move up a day when my new place was ready early. The day of the move Darion and Wedge called on their way over and showed up right on time (I've moved across 3 states and 6x in the last 3 years and can say that movers showing up on time is a SHOCKER for me). My old building has strict HOA regulations and the move out "coordinator" was a bit of a jerk but Darion and Wedge were unphased and just got right to work while I walked through the steps- this took about 30 min but Darion and Wedge used the time well and when I came back they had the bigger items wrapped and were ready to load the elevator (rather than standing around on the clock waiting for the "ok"). I have some oddly weighted items, and a few older/heavy/wide pieces of furniture but these 2 guys did fantastic at wrapping, lifting, loading and carefully placing everything right where I wanted in the new place. I couldn't be happier, I hope I don't move again for another 5 years but when I do I will definitely call Summit! read more

NEVER USE THIS GUY. First time I try to actually hire movers, and I deeply regret choosing this guy. Contacted him on a Friday afternoon to confirm we were good for my Sunday move. He told me we were all set, only to cancel on me via text at 5pm the next day because their truck had broken down, the day before, and he had just found out it wasn't going to be ready for a week. Mind you, this means he could have informed the day prior, giving me a chance to hire someone else. He offered to rent a truck for a $100 upcharge. All via text. Not even man enough to own his mistake and contact me directly. I ended up moving myself at the last second with the help of a single friend and a rented truck that ran me $80 when all was said and done. Nick is an absolute rank amateur who passes the expense on to his customers when he messes up. Spend the extra few bucks and hire a true professional. I'm sure he'll be changing his business name every couple of months, given his approach to business, and the inevitably horrible reviews that will follow as a result. Completely ridiculous. NEVER USE THIS GUY. Coincidentally, my move was scheduled for April 2nd. When Nick and Summit screwed my move, the first thing I did was tell him I would be writing an appropriate review in response. We contacted several moving companies and Summit Moving had the best price option. Nick, the owner, and his helper/employee were personable, professional, thorough and efficient. They bring a truck, and use plastic wrap, blankets, etc. They had an awesome floor roll to protect carpeting! My cousin was in a bind when movers she had previously hired dropped out day-of (no-call, no-showed to be exact), and so I called Summit Moving. I spoke to a live human being for all of 10 minutes to get the specs of our situation. After calling his workers, he called me within 30 minutes of my first call and told us they could help - and quickly too! I called at 10:30, was able to secure two movers - Darion and Jesse - by noon. SUCH AN AMAZING TWOSOME! They knew our time constraints with the U-Haul and understood our budget. Summit did a fantastic job! I had a poor experience with previous movers and Summit did all they could to make sure my move this time was smooth and pleasant. The two young men worked hard and efficiently together and were fun to be around for the afternoon. They were sweet and considerate of my two young cats. I was impressed with their comfort driving around and parking the big truck, which included backing up to the loading dock at my storage locker and navigating my narrow street. They lifted things safely, communicated well with me about their arrival time, and packed the truck skillfully. And on top of all that, their pricing was lower than most of the other quotes I received. 11/10 would hire again! read more

The communication and quote process was easy enough, scheduled a few weeks in advance for a large home move 10 minutes away and confirmed a few days before. Saturday, 9 am no movers... call, text, no movers or communication. They apparently had a broken truck I was told when they finally contacted me at 12pm. I will give them one star because they emailed (and because I have to) the night the truck broke but since I am moving I haven't been checking email. He must have forgotten the phone number was in most of my messages here... anywho, I am sure it was a sucky situation and if I hadn't had to scramble for such a huge thing as moving a home of 6 people by monday at 5pm I would likely have been more sympathetic and less annoyed but since moving is kind of huge and stressful as it is I expect communication at the very least or the company to figure something out. :/ not leave me high and dry with promises of moving me after I already have to be long gone. read more

Very professional service! We hired them for a move in Nov 2017. Their prices are very reasonable and competitive. Very clear and prompt communication while getting the quotes and confirmation. The guys showed up on time and immediately got to work as we finished the paperwork. They took great care in packaging delicate pieces of furniture and boxes and finished the job efficiently in less than quoted time. They didn't charge for the time it took them to get to us, only for the time to travel back to their warehouse (many movers charge both ways). I will give this a 5-star rating, even though they really deserve 100 stars. The guys at Summit were outstanding to work with. Nick the owner was quick to respond with rates, and his prices were by far the most competitive of the several local companies I shopped him against. I have a relative who works for a rival moving company and he was really surprised at the budget friendly rates Nick was offering, which made this an even easier decision. Their online tool was a great way to show them the inventory in our home so that they could easily qualify the time needed on the project, and even though we probably had more stuff than advertised (always the case, can't be helped), the three man crew of Christian, Joe, and Logan were up to the task and not only wrapped and protected everything (including door ways), but organized everything quickly to be loaded on the truck and had our home emptied and on the truck in less time than expected. Even with travel time on the road, they had us moved into our new home with time to spare and we opted to add an extra hour so they could help us move some items that needed to go up extra stairs. Can't say enough how pleased we were with the experience, we had a few friends move recently and they had terrible experiences with rival moving companies and they spent way more than we did. Summit does the job right from start to finish, and the guys that helped us didn't complain once, in fact they constantly asked how they could help more and even repeatedly said they were happy for us to be moved in to our new home. Simply cannot ask for a better moving experience, wish they were all this easy. If I were you, I would call or email Summit today. You may regret calling someone else, but you won't regret hiring Summit. They'll get you moved and you'll be happy that you saved a few bucks. What more do you need? read more

A friend of mine set up a Thumbtack ad for me when I was getting ready to move, and Nick from Summit Moving was the only person to call me. This immediately made him stand out to me, and want to do business with Summit. I returned his call, we set up a time and went over the pick up and drop off addresses, stairs, and such. I was anticipating the guys to be at the pick up location at 9am as that was the time we agreed on, but I got a call around 9:10 they would be there in 15-20 minutes. Not a problem, I was still wrapping some things up. The guys upon arrival were friendly and quick to load the truck. Unloading was done quickly as well. The reason I can't give a five star review though is that I was asked towards the end of unloading if I could go get cash or write a check as they didn't accept card (though it was mentioned this was in the process of happening). I found this quite frustrating as it was not mentioned to me when I called to hire them, so it was inconvenient. The next thing was concerning the start time. Apparently our appointment time was the time they left their unit in Beaverton, and drive time to the pick up location is included in clients fee. So I thought they were half an hour late, and figured start time was when they got to my house, but that was not the case. A small portion of total time was taken off my bill due to the miscommunication about payment, which was kind and the customer service thing to do. Overall I liked the work they did, but the lack of upfront explanation was not what I wanted to deal with after a very long week of packing boxes. I would recommend them to others as long as my friends are clear on payment and start of drive time before hiring them. read more

2 stars for arriving on time. Otherwise, they damaged several items in the move and took an unexplained long break. They never got to what I originally hired them to do. They rounded the time to the nearest hour. They could have started working on what I paid them to do, but they didn't see it that way. Since we have to tip in America no matter how poor the service, they got the last of my money through two tips, I did not have enough to cover their additional services since they rounded the time to the nearest hour. They left a $2,000 desk broken. It was nice before they got a hold of it, now it's just a broken mess. They also dinged up the floor boards (the building was only 2 months old!) I voiced my frustration to the movers, they gave me a card and said to e-mail Nick. I e-mail'd Nick, he ignored it. I let him know since he ignored me I will have to tell people what happened. I do not recommend Summit Moving. I'll go through Thumbtack next time. If I knew they weren't going to do the main service I paid for, I would have got a more professional mover. read more

Summit Moving did an excellent job moving me into my brand new home. Upon looking for movers, I was shocked that no one was interested in giving my home a walk through along with their estimate. I have a number of art objects and more delicate furniture and it appears to me that not everyone's square footage is exactly alike. Nick of Summit, however, was nice enough to come over to my home when I asked if that was a possibility, he answered any questions I had and gave me an excellent hourly price - beating out all the competition. Along the way, I checked in with him several times, knowing that the timeline can change when buying and selling a home, and each time Nick was always responsive. When move day finally came, everyone in the crew was friendly and professional. I felt like all of my art was expertly handled, my furniture was cared for and nothing was lost or damaged. The estimated time was accurate and I paid exactly what I had expected. All in all, I think that Summit Moving is an excellent up and coming company, their price was outstanding and the quality of the service was at a very high level. read more
