Great local shop. Very reasonable prices. Quick turn around with getting your bike back to you. The guys in there may seem a little reclusive and unwilling to help, but quit the contrary. They greet you when you come in and don't pester you if you're browsing through the shop. Once you approach the counter they answer all your questions and help you with whatever you need. This shop has all bike parts/accessories one would need. Prices for parts are as good as any other shop- Summit can order and install any part for your ride at a very reasonable price. I've been in there over a dozen times to make an upgrade on my bike and for a tune up... Always great customer service, extremely friendly, and honest. I've been here at least 20 times, and every time they treat me extremely well. They have always been generous and I'm sure that's why they are so busy. The one downside is just that... You sometimes have to wait an hour or so to replace a new tube (because they have so much business). But hey, I'm not complaining. Excellent shop. read more

I went back. I thought I'd give it another shot after my experience there last time because it is conveniently located. oops. first visit was definitely the worst, but second was not the best. similar to reviewer Lee g. I waited over 10 min to even be greeted. I was the only one in the shop. My back wheel's tube was, I assumed, popped because it wasn't holding any air. yes, they could fix that. Since both wheels were put on at the same time, could you check the front one as well? yes, fine. we arranged a definite time for me to return (I was not about to repeat my mistakes) upon my return, I asked about the front wheel. did it need repairs as well? it didn't seem like it. Oh thank you, god of bikes, for your x-ray eyes and ability to just "know" I then proceeded to have an extremely similar experience to reviewer L M. in regards to "here's the pump" and walk away. I'm sorry, but if I bring in my bike for repairs to a tire, why would you think it is a good idea to return it to the customer not inflated? what planet do you live on thinking "oh, they don't need this bike operational right now, they just wanted me to repair the tube. that's all." incredible. after my first review I thought there was a lack of customer service, I see now that they just hate customers. read more

Rip Off! I brought my bike in when a spoke broke and they informed me that my bike had been recalled a few years before, and if they replaced 1 spoke for $15 the rest may break because of the "recall". They advised I spend $65 for a new wheel. It sounded "fishy" so I opted for the 1 spoke, and as they predicted the rest started popping in half like crazy. When I returned 2 weeks later and explained that I'd buy the wheel for $65 but since I was just there could they at least apply the $15 towards it they said no, and I paid another $65. I went online to learn there was NO recall on my bike. Imagine my surprise when the back tire spoke broke, and I decided to take it to a Coop where I learned that if Summit Cycle had BALANCED THE WHEEL properly the other spokes would not have broken like they did. They did a lousy job and I paid for it. The good reviews here are no doubt from those like me who didn't initially know how to fix a bike. Lesson Learned: Just because a store plays Christian Music doesn't make them Christian! Buyer beware!! read more

Turned away my business. Despite advertising online that they rent outerwear "looking to fill a last-minute void in your winter wardrobe" they told me at the store they do not in fact rent winter outerwear to some customers. In addition to false advertising they were condescending when they told me I shouldn't be disappointed because they were "almost out" of children's clothes (meaning they had some to rent, just not for me) and didn't have any women's clothes (seeing as there were no women with us except my 9 year old daughter that was an odd consolation.) My advice, call ahead and confirm that you are worthy of giving them your money, or better yet find another store - no shortage of bike shops in LA. Also, odd that a bike repair shop has a snarky note basically telling you they don't want you bringing your bike inside. read more

Great service and friendly help. They treat you like family here and are not bike snobs. I was surprised when I saw the word "snob" in a reviewers comments. I've bought two bikes from Costco for my young son and they put them both together. These were $60 bikes and they treated me like a had a $5,000 bike. The best part is when I forgot to pick up my son's bike before they closed for the holidays, they called me and stayed open so I could come down and pick it up. I've also had a hand me down bikes tuned up there and they both times they gave me the coupon price unsolicited. read more

I like the service and the prices to adjust my ski bindings. Chris helped me and was very professional and courteous. Compared to Sport Chalet and other ski stores, Summit Ski & Cycle charges 1/2 the price for callibration and adjustments. I live less than a block away so this was the easiest place for me to take my bike for a tune-up. I was in and out in less than 15 minutes (they expedited my service so I could hop on and head to the beach ASAP) and cost around $15. They're a small store with fantastic product and quality work. We rented skis here for a day trip up to Mountain High. When it came time to put on our skis, we encountered some trouble. The binding on one of my boyfriend's skis was wrong, about 2 sizes too big for his boot, so he had to go to the ski repair shop to get it fixed. This took about 25 minutes off our ski day. Thankfully ski repair wasn't as busy as the rental shop or it would have taken about an hour to get this fixed. Also, my left boot had a lot of trouble. Every time I took my ski off I had to spend about 10-15 minutes trying to get it back in the ski. The right boot was fine, and I even switched skis to see if it was the binding or the boot, but it was clearly the boot. I made sure there wasn't any ice or snow interfering, but that wasn't the problem. All in all we had a good day and the rental process was easy, so I think we will go back. But these issues definitely cut into our day. read more

These guys are excellent! I have gone in a number of times to have minor repairs and work done on my bike. I have never been anything but completely stoked on the quality of the service and the price. The guys are incredibly friendly and professional. Repairs are done quickly. And as far as I understand, if you buy the stuff you need their, they will put it on your bike for free (I had this done with new pedals and inner tubes). Great place! read more

Took my old mountain bike in here. I use to get service done at another local place on Lincoln blvd near Washington, but after reading the yelp reviews thought I would try a newer place. I really like my experience here. Chris was very helpful and took the time to demonstrate a few simple things that I needed help with, the work on the bike was great! I had the brakes and derailer adjusted, handbars lifted up with an extention pole put in and new cables, new kickstand, helmet and some other small things, all for a very fair and reasonable price. Jason spent the time to talk me to 2 styles and then once I found the style to my liking said he would order 2 sizes and have them built and ready for me to try 2 days later. My gf and I brought in one of our bikes because the tires were flat and we had no pump(ours broke). The Sunday technician put air in our tires right away for free and fixed our bike for another issue-that wasn't free, but very good pricing. We went ahead and bought a bicycle pump there as well. Can't stress enough what a great experience we had, I wish I would've gotten the techs name, he really understands the value of good customer service. This is our new go to bike shop. read more

Ran in today to get my flat tire fixed and to make sure the new bike rack I had bought for my car was put on right. Jason helped me and was great! He said it was put on right, but the rack was very cheaply made and wasn't very stable (I noticed this while driving my bike to the shop). He showed me a better rack (which I bought for $40 more but so worth it), helped me find a better lock, fixed my flat tire and then showed me how to put the new rack on (WAY better than the other, which I can return). All this was done within 30 minutes of closing time! I highly recommend them. I'm going back again for any of my bike needs! read more

For Snowboard/Ski repairs, this is a great place. I tore up the base of a higher end board because of the crappy conditions at Mammoth in Jan 2014, and after two days Summit made it look like brand new. It cost me $40, but hey, it's worth it. read more

Love this place! It's small but the people are very friendly and helpful. I always take my bike in and they give me honest assessments and hooked some services up for free. The young kid is a whiz and the older guys are very with it. I also picked up some board gear too. I've been to other bike stores and this smaller shop is by far the best. I don't own a car and use my bike to get everywhere. My wheels by ruined by a Metro bus (that's another story and another review) and I chose this shop because of location and the fact that it was locally owned. You never know what you'll get when you go to a bike shop. I'm not super knowledgeable, but I did more or less put together my bike. I sometimes find "bike shop guys" to be awfully pretentious and rude unless you have a beard and grease stains on your jeans already. I had the opposite experience here. The staff was helpful and even though they had to special order my tires, the whole job was taken care of in a matter of days, which is important given my transportation situation. I also had them repair a brake and both jobs were done with good quality. read more
