Just a great place overall!! All the local foods, varieties, and more. From the meats to the pesto's, to the staff. All the items are stalked well and clean. Summit Store is my favorite Grocery, Deli, Snack Stop, period... I am a local up in the SC Mountains and I look for any excuse to run over to the Summit Store. They have the best deli sandwiches in SF Bay Area, IMHO. The hot prepared food counter always has some great meats; Tri Tip, Pork Ribs, Smoke BBQ Chicken, Pork Chops, you name it. The store itself is like a highend small grocery with many local small brand items available. I can get my favorite sandwich, beer, ice cream, cheese, and any other item I desire. The sushi counter is pretty damn good as well, as they have a dedicated sushi chef preparing fresh items daily. What are you waiting for, get down there! read more

I ordered the Chicken Pesto sandwich and it is a really tasty sandwich. I had a side of the berry cheese cake which was stellar. It had an oreo crust and the cheese was swirled with berry. We love to visit this store on the weekends. It's a great little "destination place," and only 10minutes from our house (the same distance to town.) They have a great selection of cheese, a nice deli, and we love the little patio. However, we are very disappointed in the prices for everyday items. Today we went to buy a small bottle of laundry detergent, but it was $16! When we were in town an hour or so later, we picked up the same bottle at Walgreens for just $6. We will still go grab a treat there once in awhile, but it rubs me the wrong way that they charge so much for necessities. read more

This store is a diamond in the rough. It has the best meat and deli around. You can always find many unusual gourmet items. My daughter-in-law who lives in Pasadena always makes a trek to the Summit Store whenever she visits. She goes home with a pile of gourmet items that she is not able to find at Ralphs, Whole Foods or Trader Joes. She especially likes the butcher's help and always goes home with a styrofoam chest full of steaks. When I shop at the store, I love the help and kindness given to me by the employees. They are very hard workers and well trained by the owner. I admire the owners because they are always trying to make the place better. The coffee bar and patio are great. I ofter go there for lunch in nice weather with friends and sit outside. Wlhy go to town when the ambience is so perfect. Try it sometime but leave the shady areas for me. read more

First time for since their remodel. Yes I know the remodel was awhile back but I live in Santa Cruz and I usually don't travel that way. Anyways that place looks great and they have a great meats section now with some really great selection of high end cuts and quality I was very pleased. The wine selection is really good. Hard wood floors and really nice added features to the store make it an even more of an upper class place to shop for sure. Who ever the contractor was, they did a great job. The Summit store like always had the same great customer service and friendly staff. I always like to give the small businesses good reviews when they deserve them. Still can't believe how much this store has changed in 15 years. Used to be rustic looking with bare essentials. Now it has become modernized with an island bar with meat/vegetables, great deli department, and now they hired a sushi chef? Talk about drastic changes. Wow, this place is killer. After riding a mountain bike for an hour from Santa Cruz to Corralitos, then an hour up Eureka Canyon to get to the summit, my friend and I were starving for calories. We walked into the nice air-conditioned store (imagine a small-scale, less corporate Whole Foods) and were blown away by their boutique selection. However, we were only looking for a quick meal, so we passed a very tempting salad/hot bar and went straight to the deli. I got a turkey, bacon, avocado on sourdough (like I do at every sandwich shop), and was very pleased. And as a bonus on the way to the checkout, we tried a free sample of the raisin bread, wow, what a perfect appetizer. It hit the spot just right. If I had a larger carrying capacity then my pockets on my jersey, I'm sure I would've found a ton of interesting foods to take home. Highly recommended. read more

Stopped by on the evening of 2/6 for a quick meal in their deli/buffet section, got a piece of their chicken leg/thigh and a couple of ribs to go. At home I dug in. Well the skin on the chicken was so dried out I couldn't tear it in half and the meat on the ribs was like shoe leather. Good food to gnaw on if your into that sort of thing. Aw, well into the trash it went. I found some leftovers in the fridge. I'd stay away from the meat it seemed like it had been under the heat light for a few (??) days. read more

I love this place! They have an incredible selection of meats, gourmet cheeses, craft beer and wine. There sandwiches are great too. They have a nice outdoor patio where you can eat and relax. I stop here a lot after mountain biking at soquel demonstration forest, but will occasionally drive up from Los Gatos just because it's such a great little spot. read more

We moved out to the mountains recently and were a bit worried about things like groceries etc. This store is amazing in many ways. The deli, meat, coffee, sandwiches, and sushi are all excellent. This store has an amazing selection of the best foods from the area whether it is cheese, milk, wine. So far they have had everything we have needed. The one thing they didn't, they actually ordered for us and now stock!! How many grocery stores will do that?? read more

This is a wonderful store. It is small, but has everything you need and then some. It always has locally grown and organic produce that tastes fresh and it has a good selection of gluten free goods as well as imported breads. It's a bit of a hike for me but I always feel like the drive is worth it when I leave. read more

I really love this store but I feel it is to much $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. One milkshake cost $3.50, and they aren't big or that good.
