I mtn bike often at "Demo" down the road and finally decided to try them for after-ride lunch based on referrals saying their sandwiches were good. Was impressed with the store in general because there's nothing anywhere close, yet this place is awesome in variety products and prices are reasonable. So, I appreciate them not just using their monopoly power to run a ho-hum store and know people have to use them, rather they run a first-rate operation. Sandwich was good (tri-tip), store was well-staffed and they were friendly. Could use a bit more seating given so many bike groups taking up seats, but can't blame them for that given they aren't mainly a restaurant. The vibe is kind of similar to the famous Mobil station outside of Yosemite's 395 entrance at this place, but bit less scale. And no gas. read more

Well, my friend and I happened on this place which is nestled in the Santa Cruz forest, and guess what, who knew here was an outstanding market and deli. They have good product. It was a surprise t to actually have this market in the woods (with nothing around otherwise).and magically appear when we both said it would be a ways to find some grub. They have so much to offer and they do it well. It is truly, "in the neck of the woods". It is welcoming, clean and feels good inside. Locals shop here We sat on the patio and had a lunch which was much better than most eateries . We saw a CONSTANT flow of people......like 7-11. Love this market!!!! It's in the middle of nowhere but delivers everything one needs, from practical lunch options with coffee to foreign Belgium (my favorite) beer: Leffe. During the period when people were fighting to get a sack of flour for the sourdough 'pandemic hype', this store had plenty of 5lb unbleached flour bags with a reasonable price. They price everything a little higher compared to a regular supermarket, eg. Safeway, Nobhills, etc. but not by that much, depending on the item a few cents up to a dollar. The meat section is great. They no longer sell gras-fed beef as locals didn't support and they scaled back to regular beef to meet demands. Their meat are good looking and fresh. Seafood is so so, frozen mostly. Produce is ok but not a big selection of vegetables. What do you expect? This is a local corner store kind of market. My family don't shop here often as we live elsewhere but we adore this market. We stop by after a bike ride to grab a bite to eat, or pick up some yummy chops or steak for dinner, or just get a couple of organic tomatoes for salad read more

Been going here since 1994. Summit store is our secret for great meats, Seafood and a wide selection international products and best of all is the Mariannas ice cream select. Staff is friendly and we treat one another as family. Look out for the annual meat bonanza where their Bloody Mary tri-tip is amazing. read more

During a recent visit to a friend's house in Los Gatos, we stopped here a number of times. It's a cute small grocery store with a great selection of foodstuffs. The deli sandwiches and counter looked very very good. We tried the Black pepper Korean style short ribs and they were very good. I will add that the "Korean style" refers to the cut of meat, not the marinade. That aside, they were very good. Also, the bloody mary marinated steaks were awesome. Slightly sweet, but excellent tasting. The staff at Summit Store is awesome. They are super friendly and are happy to chat with you. Summit Store is clean, very well stocked, and they even sell firewood at the front. It's everything that a small local grocery store should be. I wish we had a similar store back home. read more

Love their hot deli, sandwiches and burritos after riding bikes at Soquel Demonstration Forest or a chilly day hiking around at the Christmas tree farm. I'm a fan of their lasagna, but last time it had corn kernels in it?!? Sometimes the ribs are meaty, sometimes, mostly bone. I got the smoked pork chop once, but trying to cut it with a plastic knife was pretty challenging. Hot deli food and salad bar is sold by weight. Usually end up paying $12-$14 for a box of hot deliciousness. The fruit and cookies here are okay, nothing that you wouldn't be able to get anywhere else, and usually not on special. Decent selection of cold beer to enjoy with your hot food. Prepared sushi rolls - pass. The tuna and salmon are dyed. The sushi rice beneath the fish was bright red/pink from the color transfer. So unappealing. Everything else you could get less expensive elsewhere, but if this is your closest grocery store, then I guess your choices are limited and that's what you get for the luxury of living near Bay Area jobs, but away from the noise and bustle. Pretty high-end selection. Organic produce, meat, processed food. Outside patio with metal chairs, metal tables, shade umbrellas and one portable patio heater. Clear view of parking lot. Plenty of free parking. Portable potties and handwashing station at the far end of the parking lot by the dumpsters. Credit cards accepted with no minimum purchase. They sell ice! read more

Great produce selection. The deli is reasonably priced and looks/tastes super fresh. The coffee bar makes a great latte. You may pay a little more than a big chain grocery store for items like dairy and chips etc but, it is worth it. Staff are all super friendly as well. read more

This is my local store. It is small but they seem to have everything. There are gourmet products as well as necessities. They have good coffee, breakfast, hot foods, a great butcher, and a wonderful sushi bar. Ok, they don't have cat grass. But not a lot of supermarkets do either. They have events too. Like a crab fest during crab season. They have Meat Day when you can buy meat wholesale. Sometimes the barbecue is going with ribs. Yum. There is outside seating in clean tables. Everyone is friendly. Need a t-shirt to replace that torn one you messed up on your bike ride? No problem. Need a charger for your phone? An emergency birthday card? Got it. How about flowers? Yup. The only thing good about this place is convenience for those who live in the mountains. Otherwise, service sucks, prices majorly suck, selection sucks, and food overall sucks (other than the meats - they better be because they're beaucoup phuckin expensive). My savior store! I am always surprised at all the things they have. I love their hot and cold bar where you can make a salad or hot food. Their rotisserie chicken is amazing. We've used Summit for dinner, last minute items, and "OMG I FORGOT TO GET THIS" when we get home and a run down the hill is just not in the cards. Sometimes we will get a meal from the hot/cold bar and eat on the patio outside. They have corn dogs at the deli and fresh made sushi! I mean, really? At a local mountain market? Only in the Santa Cruz Mountains :) We also frequent their coffee bar more than I'd like to admit. During the fall, they have a small pumpkin patch and honestly, the prices were great for ENORMOUS pumpkins. Summit also does a TON for the local community. They were a huge help during the Loma fire and give back to the Lome Prieta schools. Lastly, this is a favorite stop for mountain bikers and motorcyclists. Summit Store is an enormous asset to the community and a treat on its own merit. Locals shop here for groceries, and bikers stop here to catch a break and a bite. When taking the Summit Rd over the mountains to the coast, it's a must stop for me to check out their deli or hot food bar. Their selections change daily, so it's a pleasing site to a starving eye. If nothing at the hot bar entices you, there is always a choice of fine deli sandwiches made to order. You can specify anything you want on it, or pick one off the extensive list of signature creations, on your choice of bread, and they'll make it for you. Still, you can customize your ingredients. I simply love the Summit Store and the ambience the owners have been able to create, by completing renovations for the building and patio landscaping last year. The store served as the information point during the Loma Fire, a wildfire that broke out in the Santa Cruz mountains on September 26th, near Loma Prieta and Loma Chiquita roads, and burnt through the first weekend of October 2016. There was a PG&E staging area nearby the Summit Store. I submitted the photos of containment area last weekend. There were firefighters available to answer up to the moment questions regarding evacuated neighborhoods and closed roads. They've reached 81% containment over the past weekend and expected its full containment shortly thereafter. At least 12 homes and 16 unspecified outbuildings have been destroyed by this fire. read more

Amazing grocery store with top-notch deli sandwiches (get the Santa Maria Tri-tip or Ragin'Cajun Chicken Sando) helpful staff and real heart of the Loma Prieta mountain community. Coffee bar and pastries also great to grab on way out to morning adventures or way to work. Stellar wine aisle featuring local wineries curated by someone who knows wine and bleepload of craft beers also. Check out their oldschool butcher/meat cases and fresh sushi. This little treasure of a market is where we stop on our way back from Christmas tree hunting. (Also where the husband stops after mountain biking). I wish we lived close by, I'd be a regular for sure. Where do I even start? First off, it's adorable. the hot and cold sandwiches are delicious. They have high quality meats and cheeses, great menu options, and the fresh bread is wonderful . The speciality coffees are beyond what I was even hoping for. They have soup, hot items, and a bakery case that practically makes me drool on myself. There is a high end gourmet feel, but they have all of the everyday items too. My kids bought gummy sharks and Cheetos, and I looked the other way. It's not cheap, but not so expensive that your wallet cries in the parking lot. Speaking of parking lots, I've been in October and December- they really make it cute for the holidays. The seasonal items are well stocked and always put smiles on our faces. Another thing that puts smiles on our faces, the people who work here! Friendly, talkative, helpful. Finally a store who hires enough employees. Really, they're everywhere, and they're awesome. You won't regret stopping in here, it's very pleasant and everything we've tried has been delicious. One of our family favorites to take home is the pre-marinaded tri tip. This place was recommended by one of my co workers. He suggested this place has good sushi & Steak Sandwiches. Well...he wasn't wrong. I picked up a sushi roll as an appetizer and can't say I was disappointed. Its not some of the best sushi I had, but it definitely gets the job done and tasted fresh. Looks like it's made daily at the Sushi station. I then proceeded to the deli to order the other half of my lunch. There were several things that looked good on the menu. My buddy asked the lady behind the counter what were some popular items here. She immediately suggested the Tri-Tip sandwich without any hesitation. So guess what I ordered... Tri-Tip sandwich was brilliant. A nice chunk of tender Tri-Tip, good flavor, just done right, not dry or tough. Definitely something I will be getting again. Driving along a mountain ridge-top roadway, widely interspersed houses, shift past your view up against sometimes oak forests, and sometimes redwood forests. Over a few miles, a vet and a fire station are joined with a church, a couple vineyards,and a school that fail to transform the mountainside views into anything like a business hub. And while another oak grove teases you with sun-strobe-dance-club views of beautiful meadows that slip you only a tease of serenity-junkie view into the flicker-laced staccato light ... visual valium to your eyes and mind California oaks a corner bends around you and the Summit Market Center is just suddenly there: a Santa Cruz Mountains Xanadu or Brigadoon. I wrote about coming to it this way because this is a place that truly seems almost impossible .... maybe even a little magical. You are at the top of the Santa Cruz Mountains. There is nothing else around you between a vineyard and a mountain meadow. Yet you are at a compacted version of Lundardi's, Andronicos''s or Whole Foods. The store is small. The selection in jaw dropping.. You won't find everything your refined palette has learned to love. But you will find some examples of it in any category. Produce is fresh and varied, staple foods and pantry essentials are all available. Dairy, juices, prepared foods, beverages, snacks ... everything but this is where it starts to pass into the surreal. You will find an espresso bar, and a deli.. The meat counter could cause vegetarians a moment of doubt with its pre-packed cuts with many house-made marinades (the Bloody Mary marinade on any of them has never left even a scrap uneaten from the serving platter at my house). Beef, chicken or pork not your preference? OK, just turn around. The sushi chef is standing right behind you setting out combo packages that the lid snapped onto just a moment ago. No cooking required ... just like the food now at your side. There is A daily-changing bar of freshly house made meat, vegetable and fruit salads and hot morning or daytime entrees and side dishes and none of them shamed by being bland, mushy steam-table gruel. And in the final moments of your Brigadoonian Food Foraging, you'll find a selection of beers, ales, and ciders that will almost surely leave you deciding if you might want to try something you never saw or heard of before. Santa Cruz Mountain wines rival the best in the world and they are there (may I suggest a Burrell School Cabernet Franc if it fits your menu and palette. But it you feel more like a cocktail, I have found things here that were phenomenal and never seen anywhere else ever among them wereRusty Blade Gin and a cognac that had been around the world in an oak barrel on centuries old sailing ship with a name I tragically cannot recall. Sunny tables outside are coaxing you to veer off Hwy 17 and travel the 10 or so minutes southeasterly along Summit Road to find this unlikely and ample/parking vaguely-magical food oasis. By the way: the way I describe Summit Market will have many of you saying "paid review". Not the case! It's the way I really see this it and admire it's creators and operators for their vision in making it exist anf operate (oh, but tale down those new garish, money-grubbing ad banners along the parking lot fence. They are detracting so much from your otherwise-incredible place!. I mean, the occasional one for local charity is understandable and makes you look good even, but the rest ... huh-uh). read more

Sandwiches here are very very good...and I'll keep coming back. And the people making the sandwiches are always super nice. Here is why I only give it three stars--one, the bread is not always super fresh and that inconsistency is disappointing, and you can't do anything about that. And two, sometimes they get the instructions wrong--who puts mustard on a tuna sandwich?--and that you can do something about--check their notes, you have been warned! Summit Store is a one-stop-shop for everything you need. This is one of my favorite grocery stores. They make their own fresh sushi and delicious deli sandwiches every day. They also have a great selection of premade salads. The staff members here are always friendly and I love how the store is surrounded by wineries :) They also have a food truck outside. Love this place! I'm one of those people who typically needs to go to Trader Joe's/ Whole Foods and a regular grocer to get all the things I need. Like, I want all the organic bouji stuff but I also need some aspartame and Diet Coke. So sue me. I've always said I wanted to open a store that had the best of both worlds-- enter the Summit Store! It's exactly that! All the organic things I need but also Diet Coke, Doritos... whatever you need and nothing you don't! They have wonderful and fresh pastries in the morning and a hot breakfast bar. Coffee counter. Great to stop in and grab lunch or dinner. The meats are a great quality and delicious. The sushi is so tasty! I have no complaints! Family owned and operated by the best people. Summit Store, please make sure you are dating your salads appropriately and cutting your produce with utensils that do not brown the lettuce. I just came home to a disgusting rotting salad hidden under the veggies piled on top. For $12. This salad was still 2 days out from the expiry date. I hate to think what this salad would have looked like after 2 more days. read more

Really neat to have such an alternative market out in the mountains of Los Gatos nearby my friend's new home. They had many of the natural, organic product that we use at home (which we purchase from Whole Foods at similar prices). They have a good selection for such a small shop. Friends had made-to-order sandwiches while we sat on the beautiful patio outside and the locals gathered to smoke weed and share stories. It was truly an experience worth having. read more
