My family of 3 dined here on a Saturday evening. We arrived around 445p and waited about 30 minutes to be seated. The waitress came right away with the water and took our order immediately. As busy as they were, our food came out quick each round. The food was very good and fresh. The fish to rice ratio was good. My wife loved all the different kinds of salmon and their udon. Their rolls are huge! My daughter, who doesn't normally like sushi, liked the food, too! I was very impressed. Food was so good that I forgot to take pictures of the food before we mopped it all. There aren't many tables and it can get loud at times, but the selection of music is nice. Overall, I highly recommend Sumo's. BTW, Alexis, our server, was awesome. The ambiance was nice, but the servers' attention to detail was poor. We sat there staring in every server's direction, hoping one of them would catch our eye so we could order more, but we failed. The food wasn't too bad until we ordered the uni, which was the worst and grossest I've ever had. It looked very watery and was definitely not fresh. The same goes for the sweet shrimp; it came in two pieces--one looked fine, but the other looked brown and tasted neither good nor fresh. Additionally, the takoyaki had a thick, doughy batter inside and trust me this was not takoyaki. Honestly, eating those items was so questionable that I feared for my health, hoping I wouldn't get food poisoning. Arrived at the restaurant at 5:30pm didn't set until 6:30 its almost an hour wait. The restaurant capacity is half size of a restaurant so it's very limited on seating. When ordering they only allow 10 orders at a time including max 2 rolls in those 10 orders. The only thing that can improve was the service. I kept waiting for the server to come by and take more order but he would just keep passing by. You would have to waive them down. But it also looks like they are assigned tables. I seen a different customer wanting to order but the other server said you have to order with your other server. Over all experience I would say this is a decent ayce sushi because they aren't trying to make you full off the rice like the other sushi ayce places (kats sushi or ahi and vegetables). Would I come here again? Probably not for a while because of the wait time. Parking is also very limited. You would have to either look for street parking or just park at a shopping place and walk on over. read more

My friends and I have been looking forward to finally trying Sumo AYCE Sushi for weeks now after seeing all the rave online. We had a rather large party of 9 people, and had one friend go early to put our party on the waitlist. Per usual restaurant procedure, they waited until our whole party was there to seat us, but it was only about a 10 minute wait once we were all there. Very quick and attentive. Our server was generally good, consistently checking if we wanted to put in more orders and keeping our water pitchers full. Unfortunately he didn't explain the menu or ordering process to us from the start, so we were all a bit confused on certain things and had to ask him many questions. He was a little awkward and hovered a bit, but I would take that over a server that never checked in, especially at a time imperative AYCE style restaurant. Unfortunately for me, I am cursed with a shellfish allergy, and I am aware that cross contamination is pretty much inevitable at a sushi restaurant where 90% of the dishes have some type of shellfish in them. I am willing to accept my unfortunate fate and a slightly itchy throat for some sushi. That being said, I always let my server know, at any restaurant, of my allergy. Their menu also has a disclaimer, telling customers to let their server know about any allergies. So after I ordered one of the rolls, having read the ingredients knowing it had no shellfish, I informed our server of my allergy. He responded by saying, "Oh that roll has..." and just pointed to the roll on the menu. I told him I'm aware of what's in the roll and was just telling him for future reference. He had nothing to say, and so I said never mind and he just walked away. Later, when who I believe was a manager came to drop food to our table, I politely said excuse me, wanting to ask him if they'd be able to plate any shellfish nigiri separately when our group placed an order. He cut me off before I could finish saying excuse me, saying that I couldn't order with him, repeating it over and over, clearly not wanting to help me. I insisted, and asked him about the separate plating. He immediately said no, they cannot do that because the servers CAN'T COMMUNICATE those complicated things to the kitchen and it will just confuse everyone and to just order my things after everyone else. No effort of accommodation was made whatsoever, and he didn't seem to care. As a fellow longtime server myself, I know it is not hard to make attempts at accommodating your customers, or providing other options for them if they cannot fulfill a certain request. The sushi itself, what i could eat anyways, was great. Better quality than I was expecting for the decent AYCE price, and my friends and I enjoyed our food. But the service and unwillingness to make any accommodations for a customer, is unfortunate and very disappointing. I am sad to say that I don't think I'll be back, and will look for a restaurant with better service. read more
