Disappointed in the service and operations of this restaurant. Me and a coworker walked in Sunday at noon, right when they opened. One couple was there. 20 plus other tables are empty but guess which booth they sat us in? RIGHT next to the ONE couple that was there. A 3rd party came in; 2 women, a child and a toddler. Guess which booth they sat them? The one RIGHT next to us. Super annoying because therere literally dozens of empty tables in the entire establishment but u sit ur only 3 tables there, in a row all side by side. Of course the toddler is being loud and making crash cymbal sounding noises the ENTIRE time while spit is flying out of his mouth. When our food came, one of the ladies told the table "oooo look at their food" so now they're all staring right in our faces as we're trying to eat. Then when the waitress came, the lady points at our food and asks the waitress what we're both eating. Had she not been so close to us, it wouldn't have bothered me but it was hard to enjoy my food with the table next to us staring at it and being so close that we could hear the convo. My next issue was how long it took the waitress to comeback after dropping the food. We felt so crowded that we were ready to leave and just take the rest of the food to go. In addition, I was taking back 2 more orders to the office for others. I ordered the first one and the waitress started walking away before I could even order the second one. After the second order, again, she started to walk away before I could ask for something else. I asked for extra spicy mayo, and before my coworker could ask her for more water, she again walked away. As a previous restaurant manager, this is a pet peeve of mine. How can u be so anxious to leave a table (that's paying you) before asking what else the table needs. Not to mention, this was her first time back to the table since she dropped off our food. Food is ok. Not good enough to go back if this is the standard of service I'll be receiving. read more

Not good I had shrimp fried rice but they call it something else and 2 spring rolls. This was so nasty it had like a metal after taste like the grill was dirty or something and it eventually caused me to get a head and throw up. I waste $15 on this. I didn't eat it. Maybe other things are good but not this. The customer service was fine though. read more

Have eaten here a few times passing thru on business. Always dependable, quick, and friendly service from servers to bartender, and the food is consistently great. Always get the hibachi filet mignon with lobster tail either at a dining room table or at the bar. Side portions are huge if you are into that. Lots of quality liquor choices of gin, bourbon and wine and lots of other stuff. Always filling my club soda on the side and asking if I need anything. The sushi is also very good the one time I was in the mood for it. Fewer and fewer places have such great service like this place anymore so I will continue to come back. read more

I have pretty high expectations when it comes to hibachi. Simply because I have had pretty great hibachi. With me being new to the Augusta area, I am trying to find my go-to spots. I drive past here all the time and had been wanting to give it a try. I can honestly say the chances of me going back are slim. When I walked in I requested to sit grill side. I was told "it has to be a party of two". I dont know what kind of nonsense that is, but I did not like it. People typically go to Japanese grills to SIT AT THE GRILL. It should not matter if I am only or with company. But, since I was hungry and already there I settled for a regular table (not even in sight of the grills). The man was pretty prompt with getting my order, but it kind of got annoying. I had just sat down and he was asking if I knew what I wanted. I order hibachi chicken and steak, side noodles, and a mango alcoholic beverage. The food came out fast which was great. The noodles were clearly made from angel hair pasta, but they tasted fine. My steak came out looking pale. I ordered medium well, you can still get a good sear on medium well. The rice had a little too much soy sauce it was very abundant. But my order drink was disgusting. It had entirely too much alcohol. I am a social drinker and enjoy alcohol, so I know when too much is too much. After I was done eating I told them that I did not like the drink. Instead of noticing that I was clearly done eating they asked if I wanted to take it to-go. Ummm, no I did not like it here so taking it home would not make me like it more. Instead of offering to take it off my bill they asked me if I wanted a different one. Considering how my day was going, I really was looking forward to having a drink so I chose a different one. It was tremendously better. Honestly, the 3 stars I gave were for those who haven't had a good hibachi place and have nothing to compare this too. Stopped in to celebrate for Father's day a little early..we ordered the hibachi for 2. It came with noodles and rice shrimp..filet mignon..lobster..and chicken. They gave us shrimp sauce and a ginger sauces for the food but this food was so good it didn't need any sauces. The made us a complimentary summer drink and the service was great! read more

Sumo Sushi, you have lost a very loyal customer tonight. My former 5 star review is now a 1 and Sumo really deserves a negative rating for how they treat their customers. I've been a loyal Sumo customer for three years and had been was ordering on an almost weekly basis. Unfortunately, I had a horrible experience in December with a Tempura Entree. The tempura was inedible because of a stale oil smell and taste and even made one of my friends sick. Because of the holidays I did not call the restaurant that night. I threw out the soggy salad and the Miso soup that tasted like band-aids and stuck the tempura in the freezer with expectations of returning to Sumo when I ordered next. I of course saved my receipt and thought since I ordered so frequently there'd be no problem for them to simply credit my next order. Boy, was I wrong!!! This evening I ordered two sushi rolls and brought back the disgusting tempura entree and was met with a serious attitude from a Sumo employee. She was only willing to give a $5.00 credit for a $17.00 entree. Not to mention the Hibachi Filet mignon in the same order was sub par at best. Greasy fried rice, mushy vegetables and tough filet mignon- which really wasn't filet mignon. I didn't even ask for a credit on that. Atthis point, it's not about the money, but the principle. Sumo is a nice addition to the area. The potstickers/ gyoza are really tasty. The tuna tataki is better some days than others. I really like the sweet potato tempura maki. The staff is nice. Definitely my favorite sushi spot in Macon one of the best I've been to in Georgia. Sushi chefs are the real deal and a great selection of rolls. Try the Salmon poppers and Beauty and the Beast roll....extra tasty as was everything. Service was exceptional and everyone went out of their way to make the dinning experience a great one. Oddie, the owner, was extremely hospitable and clearly pays attention to the details as evidenced by the spotless bathrooms complete with incense.
