When I arrived, the restaurant smelled awful. The table were sticky and the seat were worn out, there were a few people dining. I didn't even try the food, because its smelled and just the appearance was tacky and gross. I didn't even want to try the food after that.

I've been coming here since I was little yes the place is a bit worn down but I find it gives it character. And if you value good food over looks (food looks spectacular though) this is the place for you. The lady there is always kind and even though I have social anxiety I find it perfect to eat here every time. They even have amazing prices check out the dinner or lunch specials menu!!

Favorite place to get sushi. I used to live in Camarillo 2 years ago & the sushi here has stayed the same. Heavier fish to rice ratio -- which I love. Great flavor and relatively quick wait time. I'd say this is closer to 4.5/5. Cost is worth the meal as I'm always beyond full after eating here. Atmosphere is what I'd expect -- not a place I'd call too "fancy" but that's what can make this a monthly favorite if you're a sushi gal or pal. Restaurant has a very average restaurant feel

The rolls are huge they live up to the name Sumo. We are use to little rolls and didn't realize how big they were. The food is good. Service was quick. Inside is very nice looks different from outside.

Sumo Sushi in Camarillo has been my go to spot for years. I used to frequent this location for dinner & Happy Hour & it was a pretty decent happy hour spot. My son really loved the happy hour sushi before, so that's why we were frequent customers. Several years later, they still offer Happy Hour, but different menu items of course. Happy Hour food is decently priced & tasted good. I ordered miso soup (not happy hour), a salad, 2 rolls & a beer. Only Bec I was famished & this was my only meal for today. I couldn't finish my food since I order with my eyes, so for another meal it is. The waitresses were nice & checked on us occasionally. Until it became super busy & we decided it was our queue to leave. I know there are several sushi spots in Camarillo, but I would come back here again if I'm craving sushi in Cam.

I think people forget about this spot or don't realize how stellar it is. To have been frequenting this spot for the last ten years says something. The sushi is quality, the fresh rolls are to die for, great non sushi items, and the staff are always friendly. Sushi planet has some of the best fresh rolls around. Also the presentation is a 10/10 here. If you haven't been I'd urge you to give them a try because I always find their fish is super fresh and the rolls are more creative than other spots. They've been able to stay open all of these years because they have just really good food. I also like that when I don't feel like sushi or want some different types of dishes this place always hits. For sushi these are my favorite: - OMG Roll - Albacore Delight Roll - Scallop cut roll - Mexican cut roll - Salmon sushi is always fire If you are not in the mood for sushi I love their lunch and dinner bento boxes. Reasonably priced and comes with a lot of food. Pro tip: best miso soup in Ventura county is served here. Back to the non-sushi items. Here are some favs: - Chicken fried rice - seasame chicken (dip in teriyaki sauce) - Shrimp tempura The staff are always nice here and friendly. I like dining inside because it's clean and comfortable. Staff are always attentive and never a bad vibe in the place. I've also been a long time costumer because their takeout is always flawless. I usually order delivery or takeout from here every other month (for the last ten years) and NOT ONCE has my order ever been Incorrect. Like that's seriously unheard of. They really pay attentive to detail here and always make a take away experience a pleasant one. If I had to make one comment that isn't gushy about how much I love this spot it would probably just be that it's a little pricey for what it is. Definitely due to the cost of goods I've seen the prices go up over the years. Some of my favorite rolls are $20+ and I do get that's a little steep. I've cut back on ordering as much just because I can't leave without spending $40-50 here every time but it's good, what can I say. Sushi planet is thankfully my local favorite sushi joint and I'm happy to keep supporting them because they've never let me down.

The drinks alone were worth it to us. The good: Lots of options. Shrimp pasta, mac 'n' cheese, biscuits 'n' gravy, ham, beef tenderloin, sushi, all the breakfast things, salad, fruit, chicken milanese, salmon. A lot of it was overcooked but it's a buffet so whatever. The meh: Put us on the patio in direct sunlight. Asked about a table inside and they said nothing was available. The restaurant was never full and for the entire hour and 14 minutes we were there, I saw two tables that were empty the whole time. There were cobwebs all over the railings and weeds growing out of the planter. The dessert options were terrible. Nobody wants crepes. The pastries were not fresh baked but the macarons and carrot cake were passable. It looked like maybe the owner took the day off because I went two years ago and it was significantly better. At this price point I probably won't go back for the holiday stuff but definitely will continue to go for the regular menu and happy hour.

They were very good at being playing special attention to my niece see picture. My sister-in-law, I both had the valentine dinner menu that started off with a Wagyu croquette and it was to die for it was just absolutely perfect. I don't know what the sauce was but I wish I could've licked the plate. The beet salad that I ordered wasn't my favorite, but it was still very good, but the greatest part of the entire meal was the lobster. I mean in my life I have never had a lobster that good. It was cooked perfectly. The size was abundant everything it was just mouthwatering really good. My SIL said hers was the same. I didn't have any room for the fillet, but I did taste it and it was very good, perfectly medium rare. I brought it home, but my husband got it before I did. Everyone at the table had wonderful food and a wonderful experience. The drinks were fabulous. The only thing, if I was being picky, was that they only offered one dessert and that was the red velvet cake. I should've taken it home to have later, but I'm really not fond of red velvet cake so I passed, my bad. It was probably delicious.
