Last week I went for lunch and watched my server take my lunch tray to another table. I watched her quickly hurry back to the table after she realized it was the wrong table. She took it back to the server station and set it in the counter as she was flustered. Then she picked it back up and brought it to me. This is unacceptable. I asked her if the woman she delivered my food to touched it and she said just with her chopsticks. She asked me if I would like her to make it over. I said of course. She brought me new food a few minutes later. I am skeptical about whether or not new food was made in such a short amount of time. Had dinner with a big group last night. Food was ok. Service was TERRIBLE!!! The bill was split into three, and our third of the bill was $169.06, including 18% gratuity. I gave our server $170, and asked for a quick second as I scoured for 6 cents. She took off with the rest of our check, as we took a group picture. As we started to leave, I walked up to the counter/register, and asked our server for my change. Now, I don't know if there's any unspoken rule about servers and their tips because I'm not, nor have been a server before, but I think it's just courtesy, for a server to ask the guest/s if they still want or need their change, even if it's five dollars, one dollar, or even just a single penny...after all, it's still THEIR money! Anyway, as I asked for my one dollar change, she quickly replied, "Oh! I didn't think you still need your change back..." I was so tempted to respond with a real witty and a smart ass answer, but instead, I took my ONE DOLLAR change, and politely thanked her, and the owners or managers beside her. I go here frequently, every week or every other week for over a year and have never been sick after eating their food, so I don't get how so many people are saying they had food poisoning... Prices are reasonable, not cheap but definitely lower than some other sushi places in the area. It's a great local place I can count on for providing friendly service and pretty reliable quality. They can get pretty busy sometimes which will be a longer wait, such as on holidays, but I've never been bothered by waiting a little bit longer for some great food :) they have a loyalty program which contributes 5% of your purchase to your card and once you reach $50 you get a $50 gift card!! read more

The reason I'm giving it four stars is they're reasonably priced, good quality and they really give you a lot for the money in terms of the portion. My standard roll is a customized yellowtail roll with the rice on the outside and plenty of jalapeño in the center. For $5 you get a really big 8 piece roll like this with a lot of yellowtail inside. I've paid way more for these customized rolls at other places and they weren't as big as these. I've only been here once but I'll definitely be back and will likely become a regular. read more

Fantastic sushi. Certainly best in Camarillo. (Yeah, that is not high praise, but still...)Went here years ago and it was just okay, but came back a few weeks ago and was blown away. New ownership. The Dynamite Roll is luscious. Ask for "crunchies" on top, as we did! My foodie companion knew this trick. Makes all rolls better! Had a new Feta Albacore Tuna plate--also great. Our service was fine at lunch. When we came a few days later for dinner, not so hot. But still terror food! We do not like schlepping into the Valley or LA, so this may be our new go-to. My rating is a 1. My husband and I live locally here in Camarillo. We have been there a few times in the past. Tonight (March 22) we went there for happy hour. There was a big group in there when we arrived about 5:30. We ordered right away but had to wait over an 1 hour before they brought us the last item of our simple 3-item order. We didn't order anything fancy, just a pink lady roll, edamame and sushi. 3 other couples who came in after us got there food orders before us. They ordered Happy Hour food as well. Seriously we waited 1 hour before they brought our food!!. The 3 other couples got their food within 20 minutes. The hostess tried to give us a lame excuse that possibly one of the couples had ordered before they arrived. That was not the case as we saw them order when they were seated. Also, they have a deceptive menu in that one would believe crab sticks, shrimp and bean curd cost $3 for all three as noted on menu, yet we find out it $3 per item. Be specific with your menu. We will tell all our business friends, family and associates to not go there. For the owner to lie to a customer is really bad service. BELIEVE ME I WILL GIVE YOU GUYS A BAAAADDDDDD REVIEW... Use to really love this restaurant. But it seems like every time we have been there in the past 6 months, the food and service has been going down hill. Tonight was my husbands birthday so we thought we would give it a try....fingers crossed. My daughter and I ordered the lobster roll with the sauce on the side. We even wrote this on the order form and mentioned it to our server twice. We waited quite a while for our order only to have it delivered smothered in sauce. The server who brought it to us said "sorry about that" and walked away. Another server saw the looks on our faces and asked if we would like a new order. We accepted this and then waited another 20 minutes to get a new order. My husband was almost finished with his dinner. I could see why they like smothering it with sauce. The lobster was very dry and rubbery. The sauce hide the poor quality. When my daughter asked for compensation, they proceeded to haggle with her while we were trying to eat our dinner. The staff said that there was no manager there at that time, but she had asked the rest of the staff there and they decided that we would have to pay full price for the terrible service and food. If we wanted to talk to a manager, we would have to come back tomorrow. They were going to bring my husband ice cream for his birthday, but it never arrived, so we left. I have heard that when some one is satisfied with something, they will tell 3 people. When they are unhappy, they will tell 11. Judging by our experience and the other people who have given 1 and 2 stars, there are lots of people that are unhappy. Better public relations would go a long way. I usually love eating here, but the last couple of times that I've been here I've noticed that my chicken isn't cooked throughly. If it wasn't the fact that I'm feeding it to my 1 and a half year old, I wouldn't be so upset. They need to get it together and make sure the chicken is fully cooked before serving, same with their steak. Another issue I have with them, is the fact that their service sucks! I have to flag down someone just to get extra napkins or more water, pretty annoying. The only good thing they have going for them, is the delicious rolls! read more

We walked in and the guy behind the counter motioned us to a table....no menus were given to us. We sat for quite awhile waiting for the wait staff to bring a menu....no luck. Another couple came in behind us, got seated with menus and were served drinks. I said let's give them 3 more minutes and I am leaving. As I was getting my purse a waitress shows up with menus and takes the drink order. The food came out but in strange order, salads,sushi, soup. Ok, no biggie. My Husband ordered a combo with teriyaki chicken and ribs. The ribs were extremely fatty and pink in the inside. The waitress never came back to check on us or to refill our drinks. She did manage to come to the table...with the check. Our tip reflected the service. Maybe they need some wait staff that wants to work. read more

I have ate here about 5 times and always had a fairly good experience, but last night I ordered the Salmon Skin Salad for the first time and their was things Alive in it, they looked like little worms, I still don't know what they were, anyway I asked to speak with manager, she came over and just smiled and said "oh they are very good" I said that is disgusting I am not eating bugs, she just stood there and smiled, I finally had to be more assertive and had to ask her to take the plate away and to take it off the check, she finally did, but seemed to not have a clue as to what the problem was, anyway I would not recommend this place unless you like salad with creepy crawly things. read more

Don't bother. Unless you're going in with a grip of people, you'll get sketchy cuts of fish and get charged for A grade sushi. Go with a group, and maybe they'll treat you fine. Worst place ever. Ordered the noodles and it was a $0.10 pack of Top Ramen noodles with egg in it and they charged $10.00. When I asked the owner about it, she acknowledged that it was Top Ramen and the told me that the "Americans" dont know the difference. She even told me she does not how to cook real Japanese food as she is Korena. What a joke. The servers as well as the owners were really rude. EAT HERE AND GET SICK!!! EAT AT YOUR OWN RISK. I don't know where to start. This place used to be GREAT and I'd come here after work with my coworkers to have a good meal, but then the lady (I'm guessing she owns the place) started telling me they were closed even though we would show up at 9:00\9:15. I get it I work in the restaurant business and you want to go home but when your sign clearly states 10pm and you continuously tell us no I'm going to go somewhere else. I gave this place several months and tried it again yesterday. My husband and I showed up around 12:45pm. He ordered the lunch combo with a Pink Lady roll. I ordered the lunch combo with chicken teriyaki and beef. My husbands food arrived first and the waitress told me mine was coming up. Totally ok with that. What I wasnt ok with was that my food NEVER SHOWED UP. 10 Minutes passed and I told my husband to eat since the roll was a hot roll. He ate and we waited another 20 minutes. The waitress came by and asked if I was still waiting for my food. I told her yes and she went to get it. I watched her just sit up at the front with the same lady and she never came back. I needed to get to work so we got up. The owner lady told us have a good day. She had no idea. I could've just left. We went upfront to ask for our check and explain that I was upset. I told her I had been waiting 25 minutes for my food. She then corrected me telling me it had only been 24 minutes. Oh, I'm sorry. So she explains she will take my meal off the bill like she was doing me a favor. One girl there was understanding and totally annoyed. She was blonde didn't catch her name. Anyway the lady didn't fix the situation. But you know what's worse? My husband got sick off the sushi. NOT OK. he was up ALL night vomitting. Avoid going on a Saturday night! My husband and I arrived at this restaurant and the first thing the hostess said to us was, 'no more sushi rice' and waved us away. She did not greet us, and did not offer anything else to us besides the poignant message to get out of her restaurant. This place has really gone down hill since it changed ownership. We had been going to this restaurant for many many years and considered it among the best of about a dozen we'd tried in the area. The service has REALLY gone downhill. Like other reviews, we've had to wait over an hour for food we'd ordered as soon as we sat down. They can't seem to keep their wait staff as there are constantly new people there who are always in "training". Out of our past loyalty, we have gone there 4-5 times since ownership changed, but we are NOT going back again. We've suffered through very "mushy" rice in the sushi that made all of them taste very nondescript, our oyster appetizers being delivered over an hour later at the very end of our meal, having to ask repeatedly for service, being told that two identical dishes were somehow two different dishes, having other people who came after us being served well before us, and so on. We have given them feedback very politely (they are nice people) but things do not seem to be getting any better (last visit was end of Feb 2015). read more

Came in here for dinner with my boyfriend last Friday only to realize we will NEVER be coming back. The food is OK, by any means nothing special. We got two dinner specials with the 4pc sushi and the crunch mania roll, and a california roll with the lobster roll. Both rolls, were drenched in sauce that no doubt had high fructose corn syrup in it, absolutely disgusting. The rolls were so big that you could barely fit them in your mouth. Isnt the whole point of going out to eat supposed to be the fact that you can actually eat your food? The best part of our dinner was probably the miso soup and garden salads made out of iceberg lettuce, POOR QUALITY food which says alot. Most sushi places will state if their California rolls are made out of crab meat or imitation crab, this place prefers to trick their customers into thinking they are getting real crab meat but instead imitation, it was quite obvious this place is not Japanese owned, probably Korean. The service itself was very poor, but this is obviously due to the lack of coordination and poor management of the restaurant. Coming from a waitressing background of almost 7 years I was shocked to see there is no host, no busser, no food runner, and no expo station ESPECIALLY ON A FRIDAY NIGHT, the servers were doing ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING, completely unethical and borderline exploitative I even saw some of the cooks come out from the kitchen and begin running food out to the tables and sushi bar, innappropriate. It was obvious the restaurant was so understaffed it created a tense vibe within the restaurant, I mean how cheap can the management of this place be to not want to hire two bussers, or food runners? Unfortunately when sitting at the sushi bar, you also have to move over so the servers can grab the food sitting at the top of the counter and run them out to the table. When one server was about to grab a plate she asked one sushi cook with glasses (younger man) to repeat the number of the table she was supposed to run the plate to, and instead of telling her, he yelled at her face repeating the number as if she was an idiot. It was a very uncomfortable scene to watch and this was not the first time I have seen this poor excuse of a man behave this way. The managers better act quick, because his bad attitude and domineering work ethic will run this place out of business. If you work in the service industry and genuinely care about the wellbeing of people, do not give these people your money.
