Whenever we are in town in Las Vegas, we always try to go to 1 new AYCE sushi spot during our trip. We decided to check out Sumo Sushi since it was close to where we were staying at. We arrived at Sumo Sushi on a Wednesday night for dinner. The sushi restaurant is located in a nice area off Warm Springs Road in Las Vegas. Parking is accessible in the large parking lot out front. The restaurant has fun, vibrant, culturally modern decor. I love the Japanese animation mural on the wall. The cherry blossom tree in the center of the dining room looked whimsical. The atmosphere is family friendly and bustling. We chose the late night AYCE option for $25.95 for each of us. It is such a great value deal. We also got the grape spritzer and strawberry spritzer cocktails for $5.00 each from the late night special menu. Everything we ordered was delicious. The standout favorites from the AYCE menu that we enjoyed the most were the soft shell crab, yellow tail collar, Bruno Mars special, No name roll, Chanel roll, Lobster king roll, Everybody likes roll, and Baked scallop roll. All the sushi rolls looked appetizing and tasted flavorful. Baked rolls are usually my favorite as their baked scallop roll was so scrumptious with every bite. Yellow tail collar was flaky and buttery. Soft shell crab was crunchy and buttery. We appreciate that the rolls can be ordered as half rolls which lets us try more different menu options. I think I found my new favorite sushi spot in Las Vegas! I stopped into Sumo Sushi for lunch today and immediately fell in love with the absolutely awesome dining room! The menu looked pretty extensive and there were so many things I wanted to try. I started with a bowl of miso soup, which was huge. I really appreciated that because most places only give you those tiny little cups. I ordered the Rainbow Roll and the Golden Lobster roll. Both were really good. The rainbow roll was fresh, flavorful, and well made. The Golden Lobster roll was probably my favorite though. The garlic flakes on top kind of looked like corn flakes at first, but they had this really nice garlic flavor that worked super well with the roll. My waiter Gabe was awesome and took great care of me throughout lunch. Service was quick and my food came out really fast, which was perfect since I stopped in during the middle of the day. My only tiny bummer was that they didn't have Diet Coke and only carried Coke Zero in cans, but honestly that was not a big deal compared to how much I enjoyed everything else. We were recommended by friends to come here, have visited a lot of sushi places, Ryan was our host, Josh was our server, they both provided impeccable customer service, often seeing Ryan doing just about everything, he was hosting, taking orders, cleaning, serving orders, all with a giant smile on his face. Sumo Sushi is hands down our favorite AYCE sushi spot. The variety here is seriously endless, which is one of the main reasons we keep coming back! We have dined here quite a few times, but this was our first time having David/Dave, as our server and he made the entire experience even better. He is hilarious, constantly cracking jokes, and incredibly attentive. On top of that, he really knows the menu! He is honestly such a gem, and we wish we could have him every single time we visit! No matter what day you come, there is usually a wait anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour and a half, but it is always worth it. We love bringing friends here because it never disappoints. The atmosphere is relaxing but still lively, with colorful Japanese inspired decor that makes it feel fun and trendy. We are still hoping to come back one day with another couple and HOPEFULLY get those cool booths on the left side. (Looks like it fits 4 ppl). The food quality is top-notched for an AYCE, but what really stands out is the massive selection. My husband loves the omakase platter and all the nigiri options. As for me, I am pregnant.. so I can't eat anything raw, and am impressed with all their other selections! I am obsessed with the buttered scallops. They literally melt in your mouth and are packed with flavor. We also love the coconut shrimp. It has the perfect sweetness and the sauce is so addicting we could EASILY devour a dozen. The stuffed mushrooms were a newer favorite too. Super juicy, deep fried, and a literal flavor bomb! You also can't forget the Rose Pan Udon.. the noodles perfectly soaks up the sauce and is so rich, creamy and comforting. Yet another great Dragon restaurant. We used to come here before Dragon bought it and it's definitely been improved. We went on a Friday at 4pm and we're seated in less than 5 minutes. I understand that with the price of inflation, that AYCE sushi is no longer sustainable. And I understand now that this may be my last AYCE meal in Vegas. RIP . The quality of the fish is worse than dollar store. Tuna is supposed to be red, not translucent pink and grey. Every single fish I ordered had a sewage funk taste to it. I spent $50 including tip and I would have much rather spent that money on 2 pieces of quality bluefin tuna. There was one thing on the menu that was amazing and that was the "prime steak" for 7.5 . That steak was awesome and melted in the mouth . Other than that , I wouldn't feed this fish to my dog. No lie I'm about to go home and make myself puke because im honestly scared im gonna get food poisoning. Even 20 minutes later i cant get this rotten stink taste out of my mouth. I came on a Friday. There's a lot of AYCE sushi just in this cross streets alone, but the mainly reason why I'd suggest this location is simply because of the vibe and decor. AYCE sushi in Vegas all have pretty similar standards and flavors but what really sets them apart is the decor and any specialty dishes. For AYCE you have your standard nigiri's and random sushi rolls that, but my favorite in this place is the squid, mackerel, super white tuna and the eel. They did have a random item that you don't see often which was a spam nigiri. I ordered it just for fun but it's pretty much a small spam musubi. I'd say to stay away from the skewers unless you can't eat fish or you really want to try it. When we got it, the skewers seemed really dry and flavorless. We went there and they had a late night special for $24.99, which we couldn't pass up. Yah there's specialty items that only allow you one piece each but we didn't feel like it at the time. I really enjoyed the interior or the location as it immersion of the decor kind of brings you into a Japanese setting rather than just simple decor. The neon colors, cherry blossom tree and all the signage help bring the atmosphere to be more lively and more than just a restaurant. When it comes to ordering, it seems like you can order from anyone that has a tablet. There wasn't that many people so it was pretty easy to order. We came here for a birthday dinner, and unfortunately the service was extremely disappointing. For context, our receipt shows Order #1073, Dine-In A4, and "CLERK: FR, NICOLE," but I cannot confirm if that was actually our server because our server never introduced themselves at any point. From the beginning, the service felt careless. Multiple items were brought incorrectly or to the wrong table, and some items were missed entirely. Mistakes happen, but there was no real follow-up, no attention, and no sense that anyone actually cared about fixing the experience. What upset us the most was the way the birthday was handled. We told our server that someone at our table was celebrating a birthday. The only response we got was a quick "Oh, happy birthday," and then the server walked away. Later, we were casually asked if we wanted ice cream, no surprise, one of the ice creams were missed. However, there was no birthday acknowledgment or celebration at all. At the same time, we saw the nearby tables receive a proper birthday celebration from all the staff before and after we asked. That made us feel ignored, treated differently and insulting. After dropping off the check with the change, we tried to get help from another employee as we didn't see the employee who was supposed to serve our table walk by our table at all. A male employee wearing glasses saw us, gave us a dismissive look, and walked away as if he'd never seen us. We finally had to stop another young Asian man walking by to ask about the birthday situation. That employee told us, with no warmth or apology, that our server was too busy and they did not have time to celebrate our birthday while the celebration only take less than 1 minite. Sounds just like a normal thing to them. I understand restaurants can get busy, but basic service, communication, and consistency matter. If one table can receive a birthday celebration, another birthday table should not be brushed off with "we don't have time." This was supposed to be a special dinner, but the experience made us feel ignored and unwelcome. This was the most disappointing dining experience we have had, not to mention it's someone's birthday. It was hard to catch the servers sometimes when we wanted to order more, despite the restaurant not being too busy. :/ Luckily, the food would come out quickly after each time we'd order. An aside: the bathrooms here were pretty gross and the toilet seats in the women's restroom were misaligned. Under new management and they have improved a lot! Plenty of free parking and we were greeted right away upon entering and seated within minutes. I ordered uni, octopus, salmon belly, super white tuna, garlic tuna, unagi among others. My wife doesn't eat raw fishes so she ordered mostly appetizers along with 1/2 dragon roll, tomato unfinished soup, edamame and we shared unagi and octopus. The octopus were undercooked and was a big tough for my wife who has brittle sensitive teeth and wore braces. We saw a sign on the table that said bogo sake and in the photo were also cocktails so we thought the cocktails were bogo as well but they're not. They're $6 each. My wife did order a Diet Pepsi that she never got and we informed the server who rectify the issue. The best part? It's Happy hour after 9pm til close!
