Out of the blue my Ford Expediton died on me coming into Cedar Park last night. We have always taken both of our older vehicles to Sun Auto in Cedar Park for repairs. Less than 2 month ago our Truck had issues and they repaired it without sticker shock for the final payment. I dropped it off at 7:00 am with Terry and he had one of the employees drive me to work 35 minutes away so I did not have to miss a day of work. By 10:30 am I had the diagnosis and plan to pick it up today after work. Again no over whelming sticker shock and a company willing to work within your budget. Was a regular customer, went in today around 3:30pm for an oil change and inspection. To my surprise their inspection machine was down, so ok just the oil change but I would have to come back after inspection bc that was a bigger priority for me. Guy at counter told me his cut off time is 4pm for oil changes. You close at 6pm but your cut off time is 4pm?, I would even understand 5:30 but that's pushing it. Waste of time. read more

I have used Sun Auto for over 6 years for my auto needs. At first I was attracted to their low oil change prices. But over the years, they consistently have saved me money, always letting me know when a repair would probably under warranty and could be done for free at the dealership. They will help develop a plan to prioritize repairs that are needed immediately, what can wait, what can be done cheaper in the meantime, etc. They have even worked with me over the phone when I was 1200 miles away on one of my many road trips north. My grown children use them and I highly recommend them to all of my friends. read more

I never thought I would be writing one of these reviews. I firmly believe that people make mistakes and that those mistakes shouldn't define an entire business - but I wish I had read this before taking my car here. I drive a Lexus RX300 which I originally brought here for a check engine light. I first took it to Auto Zone and they said it was an emissions code and recommended this place to do the repair. They kept my car for most of the afternoon and called a few hours after I dropped it off to say that they ran all 3 of the tests to check for leaks in the hoses and there was none, so they turned the light off saying it was probably just an error and told me to return if the light came back on - I can't complain too much about this visit because they were friendly and they did not charge me for the diagnostics. However, the light came back on within 3 days. Being as busy as I am with a 60 hour a week job and a child, I didn't return right away since the problem wasn't directly affecting my ability to drive the vehicle. A couple of months later I began to have misfires that were causing my car to shake and I brought it right in. This was in December 2015 - they kept my car all day and when I called to check on it after hours of waiting to hear from them (so i could figure out a temporary vehicle situation if I needed one), they asked if someone had been "messing with the car". What? They were the last people to touch it! What could be so glaringly wrong that you assume it has been "messed with"...? That was a huge red flag but I needed my car fixed to get to work... They quoted me to fix the misfires and said they found what was wrong that was causing the emissions code - they said it was a valve to my carbon canister. I authorized the repairs and waited 2 more days to be able to get my car back. I picked up my car and 3 days later my check engine light was back on. I called and scheduled a time to bring it back so that I would be prepared to be without a vehicle for a day and after another full day of waiting for a diagnosis, the manager Adrian, called and said that it was not the valve after all, but the actual carbon canister itself was busted. How do you miss that the first time? Did you break it replacing the valve since it wasn't an issue before? So not only did they "replace the incorrect part" or break the canister in doing so, but rather than giving me my money back, which is what I wanted at this point, I only had the option of using the money I paid for the part I didn't need as credit toward the new (WAY more expensive) part. After reluctantly agreeing to have the repair done, expressing my concerns thus far and my need to have my car back quickly, he assured me the car would be done the next day. The next day the car was in fact, not ready and they called me near closing to tell me they needed to keep it another day. This was an issue the whole time I dealt with them - not calling until they were about to close, having to call them when they didn't communicate with me and keeping the car multiple days causing me problems getting to work and picking up my son. When I finally picked it up this time, they said it would be good to go and the code was clear. 3 days later... welcome back check engine light - its been awhile! I called and told Adrian and he didn't have an answer for me as to why it would be back on! When I told him, he literally said "...it is?" I brought the car back around noon and dealt directly with Adrian, he told me they would need to flush the lines as some of the carbon could have gotten stuck in the lines. As you could probably guess, the car stayed there all day again and I had to call them when it was an hour within the time they closed and he said the car was ready. I came to pick it up for the FOURTH time now, he told me I would be good to go and this time I DIDN'T EVEN LEAVE THE PARKING LOT before the light was back. He had the nerve to ask when he could have the car again because they didn't "drop the engine" to flush those lines. This was my breaking point - over a week of not having a vehicle, almost $2,000 later and I STILL HAVE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. YOU ARE THE MECHANIC - why am I having to get a check engine light and find something to still be wrong before you preform steps 2,3,4, etc. Why aren't all of these steps being taken before the car is returned?? How do you already know what the next step to take is when not 5 minutes prior you said it was repaired?? To top this all off, this place also inspected my car after they turned the check engine light off - INSPECTED MY CAR and PASSED IT ILLEGALLY. The emissions system is clearly NOT OKAY and is NOT repaired because my check engine light is STILL ON 3 months later because I cant afford to go find an HONEST mechanic to fix a problem I already paid to have fixed. Horrible customer service and unprofessional coaching of staff!!!!!!!!! Cost me $260- in repairs that should have been a routine auto inspection. I have been getting my auto inspected from Sun Auto for 3 years. I brought my auto in for inspection - the auto passed inspection. The attendant who was doing the inspection took a razor blade to my windshield attempting to remove the sticker and completely tore up my window tint. (they have done previous inspections for the last couple of years without any problem). He did not stop when he figured out what he was doing but completely gouged/tore up the whole lower section of the window. My thoughts are when you see what you are attempting to do and see that it is not working out YOU STOP MAKING THE SMALL MISTAKE INTO A HUGE ugly MISTAKE call the manager to come look at what happened. The manager told me that he was just doing his job. He had 10 inspections that day and he had to get them in and out. I asked what type of manager does not coach his staff to bring issues you are having to his attention. AND what do the 10 inspections have to do with them stopping and moving on to the next inspection - they would have gotten the 10 inspections done quicker if he would have STOPPED. I cant believe the manager was ok with how the end product came out. I told him how disappointed I was in the whole situation. All he could say was I'm sorry Ma'am! I know you are disappointed. So I called BMW my dealership who recommended their tint specialist. They confirmed with me the tint is not illegal - as mentioned by Sun Auto. I wish I could post the a picture of unprofessional of a "try" to remove the sticker it was the stickers are the size of post-it notes and the unprofessional scrape job was bigger than my hand with fingers spread. I had the tint company give me an invoice for repair and the company is still refusing to help with the cost of repair. I did not even get the inspection fee reimbursed. So by walking into this uncaring auto shop for an $18.00 inspection I left with a $260.00 problem!!!!!! AND a lot of extra hardship! I had my brakes fixed at Sun Auto recently and I did not have the same problem as Andrea H. I was informed there was new management, though, so that is probably the reason. They were friendly and knowledgeable and did not take me for a ride. They even comped my oil change and let me take advantage of a special they had going on even though I could not get all of the work done on the same day. We have been using Sun Auto service for 6mos or so. I went to someone else received an estimate went to Sun Auto and told me the same thing but at a lower rate. So I now tell everybody to go here for auto service. They keep to their estimate (which is awesome) and usually on the same time frame. read more

I come to sun to get my inspection done bc I use them all the time bc usually the customer service is superb. But this last time I was in the guy at the front Adrian I believe was his name was not only rude but completely unprofessional. He took my keys and was like with attitude " you can go sit down now" as.if I was some child. He then mafe a call and yelled at one of his co'workers in the front lobby..I work in the customer service industry go to an office where we don't have to here you. But on top of it all while I was still waiting on my car when he proceeded to talk trash and cuss about the employee he had just called with other employees in the front with no care that I was still sitting there. I find it unprofessional and disrespectful. It makes it where I dont want to come back. I feel it needs to be addressed. read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE!! We were lied to by the manger on more than one issue, including that they had a "special" deal with the car rental, which they did not. We spent over $4,000.00 and the issue is not repaired, we are going to another reputable mechanic shop and depending on what we find out we will likely sue this company. It took 5 days to replace our oil pump, of course that didn't correct the issue. The manager told us our car is a piece of junk and that for another $4,000.00 they would repair it, UNBELIEVABLE, after paying what we did and the issue still exist, and being promise a two day repair, other lies and having to spend $200.00 on top of the repairs for a rental car because it took 5 day and my son was leaving so we would not have a car. AGAIN, THEY LIE AND DO NOT DO THE REPAIR EVEN THOUGH THEY TAKE YOUR MONEY. read more

I went to get an estimate for a fuel pump and they were $200 more expensive than the shop two doors down. Even worse, the person on the phone stated it would be no cost to me since they could not beat the price of the other shop only to call me back an hour later to say they changed their mind and would need to charge for a diagnostic fee before they could release the vechicle. I dropped my vehicle off on a Friday afternoon explaining that I was scheduled to go out of town and that I was having transmisson issues. Jordan was happy to take my vehicle and followed up with me that indeed my transmisson was going out and it would cost $3,400 for a rebuilt one and $400 for a tune up. I was shocked at the price and asked him how much a new transmisson would be. He called back stating that a new one would be $3,700 and came with a 3 year/100,000 warranty AND they could do it in 1 day, but the rebuilt one would take 5-7 days. I told him I would have to get back to him and before I could, he called me back wondering what my decision was as he seemed eager for me to take the bait. I showed up Saturday morning to pick up my vehicle and was informed that I owed $120.00, plus tax for a diagnostic fee. I complained stating that I had not been informed of any fee and it was reduced to $60.00, plus tax. Bottom line is that I did not feel like I was being told the truth and believe that was confirmed with the shady diagnostic fee. Overall this place really does have pretty great service but no place is perfect. I have been there before and was pleased with the friendly customer service and way affordable prices. Unfortunately my last visit wasn't quite as spectacular but also not horrible. I dropped my car off for an oil change(had two small kids with me) and expected to grab a quick lunch and come back...oil changes usually only take at most a half hour. They said they would call me cause they wanted to check other aspects of the car too and I never received a call. About an hour and a half later I decided to call them....they never mentioned the issue they were concerned about and said it would be about 45 minutes until my car was ready so I asked "Are you serious because I dropped it off an hour and a half ago to just get an oil change and I had an appointment" They said they'd ask the mechanic, came back to the phone and said it'd be ready in 10 minutes. I arrived at the shop 15 minutes later and they said it'd be another 10 minutes....I had two crying kids with me(it was nap time and we expected to have the car 2 hours earlier) and so we had to wait another full half hour before the car was done. They never apologized but were just silent as I checked out. I've never had an oil changed take 2 and a half hours...I understand things happen so I would have been forgiving and understanding if they apologized but they just kept making excuses as to why it was taking so long. !!!!Stop please read before taking your car here.. before i do get started let me say the customer service is great. with that reason i took my car here for years. about 4years ago i started having really bad car problems they told me i needed a new engine for my 2002 Camry ( they say Camry last a long time dont remember the millage then but it was at 12302 last week) so i figured they know what there talking about so i spent a little over 3000.which at the time i was like ok..its wroth it.. years went by and a new months ago my car would turn off when i was driving so again i took it back they keeped finding things wrong with it and i would spend one hundred to three hundred each time and i was there at the very less onces a month for about 4months.they could never tell what was really wrong it was more this could be the problem with a smile on there face(Good customer services) finally i was so tired of it i said f it the cars getting old i added a another baby to my family i needed something bigger i might as well have a car payment sence im allready spending money on a car.so i went and got a brand new car . but i still had my 2002 Camry so once again i decided to try one more time but this time i took it somewhere else itood them the history they listen to me the oter guy put my car on a left and before i was done talkingto the guy the other allready found the problem they talk about 10sec told me to come look.he showed me were there were exposed wireing hanging under my car they said it lookslike who ever putmy engine in did not properly move the wiring harness and over the years its been rubbing and that will cause the car to die on me and it can even blow the computer. so please mental note my storythe only thing this place is good at is smiling you might be like they have all these good reviews? thats just cause they advertise in there store something like wtite on yelp get somekind of discount ..im good i dont need there...smile read more

My car needed an inspection, and this place had just opened near my home, so I decided to give them a shot. My check engine light had been on, and I had gone to an auto parts store to get the code read. So, I knew my car needed the EGR valve replaced. When I dropped it off, I told them the code that was detected and that I needed to pass inspection. They fixed the EGR valve and upsold me on a fuel injection cleaner, telling me that without it, the EGR would clog again and also told me that I would need to drive the vehicle a few days before I could get an inspection to allow the computer to cycle and reset (this was expected). I paid about $250.00 and drove away. Two hours later the check engine light was back on. I took it back in and then the place tells me that I need another $800.00 worth of emissions work (catalytic converter, oxy senors, etc). I was really pissed that they did not do a thorough diagnostic the first time, as given the car was only worth about $1000 to begin with, if I had known upfront the total repair cost, I might have made a different decision. I took the vehicle to a different shop and they did a complete diagnostic and found several items that were still missed by Sun Auto Service. I asked the new shop about the fuel injector cleaner, and they told me that while there can be a benefit to using it, it is completely unrelated to the EGR valve. So, not only did Sun Auto do an incomplete job diagnosing my problem, then messed that up again; they also straight lied about the need for a particular service. I will never go back. I also discovered that when they mail out coupons, the coupon price for an oil change is the exact same as the regular price. Minus the other issue, I probably wouldn't care, but that just makes me even more mad. Two-faced liers. Friendly, but liers. read more

I rarely complain about service anywhere online but feel I have to on this one...I went to Sun Auto to get my state inspection a few days ago. They told me it would bd about an hour. No prob. I figured I'd go next door to have some lunch then wait out the rest patiently in the lobby. I came back just a little over an hour later and was told I was next in line and they would be done shortly. Unfortunately the gentleman was already on defense it seemed. I wasn't really worried about it. "Our inspection guy is wearing several hats today. You'll have to be patient." I said "no problem!" I know these things take time. No big deal. Flash forward to an hour and 45 minutes since I dropped it off. The guy comes back and says "Our machine is down. We won't be able to inspect your car today.." I said "awwwe I've been waiting almost 2 hours.".....he says "well now it will be more like 8-10. You can thank the State of Texas for that." He did tell me another place I could go to but I was out of time by then. The right thing to do would have been to tell me they would put me first in line tomorrow if I came back, or better yet..."we'll do it free of charge tomorrow for ya." However, the days of people thinking about anything but themselves is over and...so is my business with Sun Auto. read more

Sun Auto Service told me I needed a $400 repair in order for my "service engine" light to go off so my vehicle would pass inspection. Took it for a 2nd opinion elsewhere, and was told that all I needed was new spark plugs. I went with the 2nd opinion, got the new spark plugs and nothing more. This cost me $39.74 total, including labor. After that my "service engine" light went off and I successfully passed inspection. Sun Auto Services wanted to charge me over $360 more than necessary, and told me there as no way my vehicle would pass inspection without the $400 repair. By no means am I saying they lied to me, but they certainly were not correct in their diagnosis or proposed resolution of my vehicles issue. I feel as if they were after nothing more than my money. They didn't seem to care whether or not my vehicle was repaired. It makes me wonder... if I DID choose to go with their $400 "fix"... would my car have passed inspection, or would their "fix" have caused more issues with my car, in turn, causing me to bring it back to them for more nonsense? It's a shame that people with no car "know-how" are such easy targets for mechanic's scams. read more

Horrible experience.... took my truck there get a transmission filter n fluid replace... woke up the next day to a huge stain in my driveway... trying to save my time to enjoy time with the family...ended up costing me more of a headache....next time I'll do it myself... so here I am waisting my quality time.... been here 30 minutes n watching the tech... for about 15 minutes he's not even been around my truck. My truck was supposed to be done yesterday.... guy looks at me like he's gona take his time... not my fault that he's incompetent.... I should've just done it myself. Would've saved time n headache not to mention stain on my driveway...good price horrible experience.... guess the saying is true you get what you pay for nowadays!!!! I have been to Sun Auto on Slaughter many many times. I go there for my oil change because it is a really good deal: $20 for oil change and tire rotation. Today may have been the last time I take my car to Sun Auto. My rear window would not go up or down and I took it to them to see what may be wrong with it. I was told that the window's regulator needed to be replaced and they quoted me $270 for the part and $100 for labor. Almost $400 just to make sure my window would stay up! I told them no thanks and deciced to call around. I found online that I could get the part for $60-100 and found a place in town that quoted me $150 for the part AND installation! This is the second time that I feel like Sun Auto was just trying to screw me out of my money. It is so sad that they can take advantage of people that just don't know any better. I will be doing my research from now on and not going to Sun Auto. read more

I was taking my cars there for oil changes which are at a good price. The people are friendly so I thought when I needed a break job I would take it to them. First, they said I couldn't use the rotors again which I thought was weird because the car only has 48,000 miles on it, but I thought okay new rotors and brakes. Then they called me back and said I needed a new master cylinder and they would give me a deal because I already did the brake work. They were dealing with my wife because I was at work. $1,100 dollars I paid and thought well its all new with a lifetime warranty. When my wife who knows nothing about cars gets the car back she says the pedal goes to the floor. I had to take it back to get the master cylinder fixed. Twice they gave it back to me and the same thing. i drove around the block and right back to shop. I could not believe they would call say its ready twice and it wasn't. The third time my wife went without a car they said they had to get a ford part because the remanufactured parts they use just werent working. Thats right most of all of their parts are remanufactured. i got screwed so I'm going to try and warn u to stay away from them for big repairs. My wife went in for an oil change because they sent out a coupon for a 17$ synthetic blend oil change. When she got there they told her that the oil change was actually going to be $80 dollars! They told her that our car only takes synthetic (which is a lie because I have always used non-synthetic). They also said our car takes a "special" filter which cost upwards of $50. Luckily, my wife called me and asked my opinion, to which i promptly knew they were pulling a bait and switch scam on her. After talking to her, she relayed what I had said and the man at the counter changed his tune a bit. He told her that she could get an oil change for 45$ and wait an hour, or get an oil change now at $75. Seeing my wife had both of our babies with her, I guess they decided to see if she would pay more for convenience for them to do it now vs wait an hour with our two babies. I told her to leave those scam artists establishment. If they are willing to scam us on just an oil change, imagine what they have done, or will do to you. Don't go here!! read more

Stay away! I wish I would have never taken my car here. They cannot replace breaks for the life of them and they talk poorly about other mechanic shops and dealerships. Not only did they have to redo AND REPLACE parts they they put on and did not put on correctly, they continued to tell me that the issue was my suspension and struts, not the poor break job they did. Yes my suspension and struts need work, but that was not the reason my breaks were grinding AFTER they replaced my breaks TWICE. I paid $800 for a complete break job and I got shady breaks that scared me every time I braked! They estimated over $1500 in repairs but I refused to let them do anything more to my car. I had to take my car elsewhere to get my breaks done properly and the manager at Sun Auto refused to give me a refund unless THEY were the ones to do the suspension job. F*** that! They drove me to purchase a new car. I cannot stand mechanic shops like this! Save yourself the money and trouble. Go elsewhere! read more

This place really tried to rip me off and overcharge me. The sad thing is I caught them in the act. My air conditioner went out and I took it to Sun Auto. They told me that they would have to do a diagnostic on it and would cost about $28.00. When I returned later that day, they told me I had to replace a high pressure hose that can only be bought at the dealership. (this part was true) They then proceeded to tell me they would rebuild the hose for much cheaper ($480.00) than it would be to buy a new one. This seemed ridiculous to me, a hose for $480.00??? I then called the dealership to get a price on the hose and it turns out the new hose was only $100.00. Sun Auto didn't know what to say when I confronted them about it. In hopes of "cleaning it up", they didn't charge me for the diagnostic and then tried to tell me they have a payment plan. I couldn't believe they were STILL trying to sell me their lies! I took it to another place and bought a new hose, installed, for $200.00. I will NEVER go to Sun Auto again!!!!!!! WARNING!!! SUN AUTO WILL TRY AND RIP YOU OFF!!!!!!!! read more
