After finding out that my previous auto shop was under new ownership (which clearly explained the poor service I had been receiving) I was recommended to Sun Devil Auto. I scheduled an appointment online which was super convenient for me. When I arrived, Bo listened to all of my concerns- didn't make me feel stupid but was incredibly empathetic and understanding. After dropping my car off, I received a call about an hour later with an update and request to look further into an oil leak. About an hour after that, I received a call with the damage. Bo gladly conferenced in my dad and was so patient explaining everything that was going on, and invited me to come see the damaged pieces that needed to be fixed. I went back to Sun Devil later that afternoon to grab a few things and Bo + team took the time to show me the parts and explain how everything goes together. He let me know it would be a few days to fix- I was banking on 4 days but they were done 2 days later- much faster than quoted. So far so good on all the fixes. While it was expensive (because I had some pretty gnarly things going on), I was grateful that they took the time to really look into the problems I shared, and I'll bring it back in a few weeks for them to make sure everything is good to go. Cars are not my thing so I normally dread speaking to anyone at an auto shop, but Bo was so patient with me, wanted me to understand what was happening, and spent a lot of time making sure I felt comfortable with all the fixes that needed to be done. Several times I have brought my car/truck in for something where they didn't charge me a dime because it didn't cost them a thing for parts, but they still could have charged for labor. Didn't believe them so took it into local wheel alignment shop. Nothing wrong. Great quick service for service jobs, friendly staff but wow. What if I hadn't got a second opinion. read more

My 88 year old father purchased a 2011 Camry from an auction broker and after driving it home heard a strange noise from one of the corners. He got back to Sun City and I suggested the dealer, but he has never taken any of his cars to dealers. Instead he said "I like the way Sun Devil has treated me in the past" and took it in. They went over the car nose to tail and simply found a tire out of balance. They gave the car a thumbs up and didn't charge a penny! These are the biggest bunch of crooks and idiots I've ever dealt with. A friend of mine asked me to change the u joints on his 03 tahoe. I did not have time on a Saturday to do it, so he called these Yahoo's. I told him they are RIP off artists, but he needed his truck done that day. They called about an hour after we dropped the truck off, stating everything from the yoke on the rear end to the yoke going into the transfer case needed to be replaced. (This is were these P.O.S.'s will deny any of this. I want you to, so I can continue this review with more of your B.S.) I got on the phone with Josh, who begin telling me all the problems with the truck. I told him I was coming down to see them and I wanted them to show me what they are talking about. The so-called mechanic put the truck on the lift so we could get underneath it. He begins by telling me the yoke in the rear end needs replacing due to being "worn out". That's when I said, "you got to be kidding me. You mean to tell me that cast iron Steel part is what you're saying is worn out, and not the metal cap that is most likely stretched?" He seemed insulted that I would question him, but he did say "the cap stretching is a likely cause." The mechanic also tried to tell me that's a drive shaft has a tube going down the center of it on the inside, and when the universal joints go out then it usually breaks that tube and the drive shaft has to be replaced. WTH??? I asked him if this drive shaft had that tube, knowing that it did not, and he told me that it did. That's why I said take a truck down and we're taking it with us. Josh, when he called an hour after the truck was dropped off, said the yolk going into the transfer case was damaged and had play in it also. I never let the mechanic address that issue, because I was not going to let them blow smoke up my butt again. I brought the truck home buy two new universal joints for $54, and replaced both of them in one hour. I would not take these idiots a Hot Wheel to work on, much less a real car. So please, you idiots that run that store, contact me. I want you to. I will be glad to come down to your store, in front of all your so-called valued customers and have this discussion with you. read more

No one wants to hear...you need a new one of those, or are you ready for how much this is going to cost. Wow! I can't say enough about Sun Devil Auto. John, the manager, was very helpful with my last minute oil change. Although they didn't have time for the oil change, John gave me the chance to explain my car problem and determined that I didn't need the oil change and instead needed some oil drained due to extra oil added earlier in the week by my helpful husband. They drained the excess oil and also steam cleaned the under part of the car & engine at no cost! I would highly recommend this shop, for their polite and super friendly manager John and knowledgeable mechanics who went out of their way on a late Friday night to fix my problem and get me on my way safely. Just returned from getting an oil change and was pleased with my experience. They didn't try to upsell me or add any extra services. The prices are definitely reasonble and they finished in an hour, which is how long they estimated it would take. It was $28 for a premium oil change, which my car requires, but only $16 if you use the standard Shell oil and bring in a coupon (they aren't hard to find). I can't speak for any of the other services, but if all you need is an oil change I'd say you can't go wrong. read more

THIS PLACE IS SO GOOD!! 100% recommend them!! All the workers were so kind and knowledgeable. Both Brandon and Jose were very responsive and honest. I had gone to Midas to get a diagnostics test for my 2007 Acura TSX and they quoted me 946 DOLLARS for replacement of SPARK PLUGS and an ignition coil. Total rip off. I went to Sun Devil Auto and I was given an honest price and they were all so nice. They got the job done super fast and were very thorough. The only thing good in this shop is the people who actually work on the cars. I have been coming here for years and I cannot believe the disrespect by the staff here since January of 2021. I'm not sure if it's new ownership or just a rotation of staff but these guys have no communication with each other or to the customers they're attempting to provide a service for. This review does point towards a specific employee, Brandon. He made me so upset I literally looked at him and asked if it would be a better idea if I went somewhere else for my service. He didn't get what I meant, and it was obvious he wasn't really listening. Be real dude, say you're tired without being a jerk. The other people in here seem irritated with him as well. Put this guy in the back! While sitting in the shop two people entered minutes after each other. The entire guitar solo in Hotel California played before they even acknowledged them. These people were just as irritated as me, and one of them was just picking up their vehicle! Alex, another front desk guy, was apologetic to them but didn't want to deal with the attitude of the customers. After about 30 minutes Brandon, our friend, calls me up and tells me that both of the fans in my car are currently not working and that for repairs it would be 1300$. I asked a couple more questions but it seemed like a second opinion was needed. Felt liked I wasted my time. Used to come here for years, don't think I'll be back. read more

The few times I have used this auto shop they have gone above and beyond of what's expected. They thoroughly explain what the issue is and how best to tackle it. They explain what needs to be done and what can wait. The labor costs seem to be comparable to other shops in the area. The most important thing for me was having a warranty for the parts and labor. They do warranty the work and parts and from my experience will honor the warranty if something arises. read more

Unprofessional and doesn't have a bit of courtesy. Booked an appointment for windshield repair on Friday for Tuesday through insurance. Insurance said they would give us call prior to the service. Didn't get a call till Tuesday noon, so I called them and they said I can bring the car anytime before closing. We asked for an appointment and they insisted on walk in. We arrived around 4.30 pm. They said can not do the job today since the guy who does the repair has to leave by 5pm? What??? Is this the way you do business? THen why didn't you give me an appointment when I called earlier in the day? Is it that my problem oNly one of your guys knows to fix the windshield? I've done enough research and gotten enough bids to know who over charges for their service and these guys are always the best price around. Each person I've dealt with has been kind, knowledgeable and has shown a genuine desire to help in each situation. My mother in-law recently had an issue with her 2010 Escape that she recently purchased. I referred her to Sun Devil and when she called them she spoke to Shane, who encouraged her to dbl check the warranty. When she explained that the warranty wasn't in effect anymore, Shane told her that he just got a notice that Ford extended their warranty on this particular part and that if the dealership wouldn't fix it, to give him a call back but he didn't want to charge her money for repairing a part that should already be covered. Talked to about 5 or 6 shops which either rushed me off the phone or couldn't give me an estimate unless I brought the car in. I went to this Sun Devil Auto about a month ago for a routine oil change. A few days prior, my car was making strange noises every time I would brake so I figured I should get my pads replaced too. I told the man at the front desk that this is what I wished to have done, and he signed me up and had me wait. So I did. For two hours. The man at the front finally told me that I needed to replace my control arms (he said it explains the noise) and that it would cost me $250, and I'd have to wait another hour for the parts to be picked up. So I waited. Again. Finally, when everything was done, my total turned out to be over $830. I paid, and left. A few days later, my brakes started to make the same noise again. I should've known I was being taken advantage of. I won't be returning here again. read more

Went there because I live close by. Needed to get my "check oil" light reset for a used car I'd just bought so it would pass emissions. Earlier in the morning I'd taken it to a VW dealer and been told the light was surely on because there was an issue and was quoted $99 just to start. I went to the front desk and these guys were awesome, offering to reset the light for a very low price. Would trust these guys to not rip me off! They finished within 5 minutes and I was on my way. Update: it was the drive shaft center support (carrier bearing) they got my driveshaft all worked out and it was awesome. I took my truck to a motor mechanic with a 5 star rating and would you believe that he found the new coils put in by Sundevil 4 had been improperly done. They put them in properly after fixing them and checked the engine out and told me I don't need a new motor. The one I have is fine! read more

WORST PLACE EVER. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT take your car here. My check engine light came on so I took my car in. It took an hour to get 4 readings on my car and all JOEY told me was that it was an emissions problem and that he would need to do a diagnostics check that would cost me $115.00 to figure out what the problem is. So I decided to go AutoZone instead because they do a free reading. So they do the reading and put it in the computer and BAM! The solution came up right away. My gas cap was loose. That's all it was. Sun Devil Auto wanted to take $115 from me to tell me freaking gas cap was loose. Now I need to go get second opinions on everything they told me because I don't know if it was the truth or not. So thank you for wasting my time and money. read more

TOO BAD. Used to be good. Customer for 8 years. I went to get a oil change and to replace a break light bulb. The oil change is usually 25.00 and replacing the bulb is 5 dollars. The bill turned out to be 108.00 dollars which included a 75.00 labor charge for just changing oil. Maybe new management? Im not going to hang around to know. 150.00 / hr labor rate seems excessive. They did overcharge me an hour or more on service, and I found out later that they could have added the steam clean to wash off the oil that sprayed my whole undercarriage from my oil pan leaking. All in all, they are a good mechanic shop, if you have to use a shop. They work with you to help you get the repairs that you need. I would recommend them for shop repairs.
