There are three counters and 2 booths. Get in early or prepare to wait in line. You can stand inside during the winter or outside in the warmer months. The better servers can clear their counters in one fell swoop. The hostess is mostly useless. I ordered the Million Dollar Quartet with two eggs sunny side up, potatoes, wheat bread, sausages and pork belly on the side. Coffee was poured continuously. The breakfast was good. My wife ordered the chicken and waffles and they were amazing. My only complaint was the chaotic wait. Unless you have very good intuition you would be lost. Do not come in a group here. I repeat! This is not good for groups. It only has two booths that can fit 4 people max. Everyone else sits on a barstool at the bar. It's a unique experience for sure with delicious food. The condiments are what makes this food that much more tasty. You can buy their condiments in bottles if you wish, such as their hot sauce, ketchup, green hot sauce, maple syrup or spicy pecan maple syrup. Walked in and the line was close to the door. We were seated within 15 minutes or so, so it wasn't that bad. Good places for couples/twosomes due to the seating. But the food was delicious and service is quick and fast! First night in Nashville & finding something to eat after 10pm is quite challenging, only available food seems to be at the diners. We came in, u seat yourself & they come up to u for service, late night menu is not the healthiest a lot of fried & heavy food. I had the Breakfast wrap which was actually very good the lightest thing I could find on the menu comes with a medley of home fries these were good & a small salad. my company had the Chicken & Waffles .. lord all mighty this was amazing.. OMG! Hidden gem. Starving for breakfast and staying the the Moxy. Asked for options and they pointed me across the street to Sun Diner. From the first step in the door, to the last bite, I enjoyed every second. My server Armeshia set me up with coffee and water and I asked her about her favorites and to pick one of them for me! What arrived was nothing short of food porn. The breakfast tacos topped with a dash of the green chili hot sauce on the counter sent my taste buds in overdrive. My colleagues and I got to our hotel around 11:30PM. One of them had already been this diner before and recommended that we go here to get the Chicken and Waffles. It's open 24 hours which is super convenient. There were also other places that did 24 hours around the area - Nashville is definitely a supporter of night owls. Once we got there, it was completely packed. Keep in mind this was a causal Wednesday night. We waited about 10 minutes for a seat. This diner is so cozy and cute! The multiple neon signs posted really gives it it's "diner" vibe and of course, the drunk people. All of us ended up getting the Chicken and Waffles (with a side of French fries!!!). It hit the spot of a late night diner meal, southern style. Not only was the dish different than any other typical chicken waffles by the topped off gravy but also the spicy pecan syrup!!! I love anything and everything with a sweet and savory combo so it was a hard decision between that or the Donut Breakfast sandwich. I will be coming back to try that sandwich! I am just getting around to writing this review. It has been a few weeks since we went to Nashville. Like any weekend in Nashville, everything is kinda fuzzy. A blur of people, music, beer and food. I do remember the Sun Diner though. We went at an odd time and did not have to wait long. I do not remember exactly what time, or what day, but remember it no being crowded. The staff were awesome. They serviced a lot of people in a short amount of time. I had the chicken and waffles. Just the ticket to give me some carbs and protein to get to the next band. Wish I could give a little more detail, but it is spotty. I just remember great food, great people and a cool atmosphere. We will go back on our next pilgrimage to music city. read more

I stopped in Nashville for a brunch on my roadtrip back to Florida. The customer service immediately reminded me of the true meaning of souther hospitality. And I ordered the Beef hash and the Creme Brûlée French Toast. THE CREME BRULEE FRENCH TOAST was sooo good, and the in-house maple syrup was unforgettable. The portion was also pretty big so I had to take 1/3rd of it back home but even after a few hours it was delicious in the car. The beef hash was good but nothing to ride home about. Our server was great that we had Saturday Night. It's a typical diner with a very limited menu and hungry drunk people. I got the chicken quesadilla which was fine I mean there was nothing special about it it was your run-of-the-mill quesadilla. My husband got the buffalo chicken sandwich which he thought was pretty decent. We found it as advertised--a diner based on a series of counters--seat yourself, no pretense--but with a more limited menu choice than you expect from a classic diner. The Sun features breakfast around the clock, burgers and other grilled sandwiches, and a limited short order section. My group got the chicken and waffles, chicken fingers plate, and a patty melt burger. Food came out promptly, was tasty, and well prepared--except for the fries that came in large quantities everywhere but were bland, undercooked, not crispy. The positives are the casual atmosphere--no rush, Memphis music memorabilia everywhere, and filling reasonable priced main dishes. Milkshakes are a big deal here--good not great. It's what you would expect from places on Broadway. As it were Sunday afternoon noon, It was not crowded at all and the service was lacking. Refilling a sweet tea with unsweet in the south is the equivalent of someone calling your momma bad things. It shouldn't happen.EVER. It was loud that you had to yell your order and hope it was correct. Mine wasn't but not enough to make a complaint. The menu didn't have a million choices. That's something I do enjoy. This place is awesome! It's right off of Broadway, and have little to no wait. I had the feeling of an old dining room but it was mixed with a bit of modern decor. The food was so good! I got the chicken and waffles and I still think about them to this day. The place was a nice little get away from the hustle and bustle of Nashville and it made you feel like you were inside a record store. We had a very nice waitress who was patient and got our order correct and checked in on us to make sure everything was good.
