One of the bartenders somewhere (I don't remember where) recommended Sun Diner. It was quite busy, but we were able to find two spots at the bar after waiting about 10 minutes. They have a specific late-night menu that you can order off of with limited choices. I ordered a burger and fries which was well-cooked and flavorful. Husband ordered the chicken and waffles which he ate so quickly that I didn't even get a chance to take a picture. After having a few shots of whiskey me and my pack of loud girlfriends needed a place to soak up some grease before going to sleep. As a good ole NJ boy my natural senses demanded I search for a diner. The location is right in the heart of the tourist area. Tipsy banter revealed most patrons were tourists too who were hungry after honkey tonking and slurring along to country songs. Servers were pleasant and the dishes were solid. Omgosh. The breakfast. Yum. This was our first stop to eat in Nashville. Misplaced wallet the night before eating here, spoke with Rob who was working on computer during closed business hours. He stated he was the the "dishwasher" when asked about his role. I am tourist that needs ID to travel home and the blatant disrespect of my situation is unsettling for a business in this area. I would appreciate any kind of empathy and record none from any of the numerous "dishwashers" eating in the area. I work in healthcare industry and understand the ability to go out of ones way to make someone feel as comfortably as possible in a bad situation. This experience made me feel worse and do not trust their response. I will avoid at all costs in future. When eating here last night the food was sub par at best. They let us know they opened just a week ago after being closed for 6 months. It was very empty. They had scan menus and speed out seating. We got the chicken and waffles and they were very good. Quick late late night food near Broadway. We came for a late dinner around 1030/11pm. They had their late night menu out, which is all we could order from. We were able to grab two seats with no wait. I had the breakfast burrito. I didn't care for the potatoes it came with. The burrito itself was fine. Nothing special. We were going to go to one of our favorite spots for breakfast in Nashville, but we decided to go to Sun Diner because it was directly across from our hotel. What a great decision that was. Came here on a Saturday around 10:00pm. We had a super sweet server taking care of us that night, 5 star to her for putting on a smile, talking with customers, and keeping pace with a nearly packed house. She said it gets even crazier later since it's 24 hours and other place in the area are not. I liked the bright interior, definitely had an ol time diner feel to it. Pretty good line of sight for the various TVs in the place. And there's a good collection of merchandise at the exit if you like to collect T-shirts like I do. Food wise, It was just OK. We went to the Sun Diner for a late breakfast this morning. We were a party of 5. This place is the cutest! The vibe is so great, and the environment is really lively. I love the seat yourself high top set up where you can really interact with one another and your server. We were able to get a seat right away, as the service is pretty quick. Our waitress was so nice and super attentive. She had drinks and waters for us within 5 minutes of arriving. We ordered our meals and they came out quickly. The chicken tenders were delicious. BEST. TENDERS. EVER. They had amazing breading and came with a side of fries. The ranch is absolutely delicious too. We had a great experience here and highly recommend it. Came in around 10pm. Sat at a table a group just left. The waitress Hannah came quickly and cleared the table but did not wipe it clean. Hello, the table is not considered clean just because you moved the last party's items off of it. Thank goodness for extra napkins on the table. I covered the area I was using with them. Ordered a burger with fries. Please note: it does not mention on the menu that the burger comes with fries. The waitress came over after a few minutes and let us know it was coming. It came out after a longer than expected wait. The burger was cooked 'Medium' although it was requested as 'Well Done'. Since the waitress did not come back we ate it. Hope we do not get E. Coli Poisoning. There is a nice selection of T-Shirts for sale. Seating - two tables in the very back which seat six people. The rest of the seating is counter seating. Three eggs, meat choice (pork belly and bacon), home potatoes, and choice of side (waffles). The short rib hash was amazing and the omelet our fourth had was also yummy. Good choices! Courteous service, glasses kept full, and food on the table quickly as well. Stopped in here after reading the other Yelp reviews, despite thoughts it would be a tourist trap. We went for breakfast rather than "middle of the night drunk food post bar hopping down Broadway." We arrived around 0930 on a weekday and it was packed, but we found the last 2 available seats. It's an interesting setup with the 3 "sections" it's divided into. I got the chicken and waffles and my boyfriend got the short rib hash. I was skeptical about the gravy with syrup on the waffle, but I went for it anyway. I was mostly impressed. The chicken and gravy needed a fair amount of salt/pepper, but the waffle was hot and not soggy. I asked for a little side of gravy because I felt like it didn't come with enough. Our waitress brought me a bowl and then promptly charged me $2.50 extra for it. I could've done without if I had known it was going to be that much. You're already paying tourist prices, so careful there. My boyfriend said the short rib hash was good, but there seemed to be more onions in it than actual hashbrowns. The service was good. They have the diner working like a well oiled machine and the head cook definitely keeps an eye on his plates he's making to ensure they get out to the customer ASAP. The atmosphere is great if you like 1950s/60s era music and a true diner like atmosphere. I'll likely go back on my next trip to Nashville. read more

When we got there, we got the last of the seats available at ht every large, wrap around counter, Most seating is at counters, I only saw two tables, and those seemed to be reserved for parties of at least 4. If you are a non-dairy or gluten free person, there will be very limited options for you. I was only going to give three stars, because my eggs were overcooked and the sausage was not awesome. However, my boyfriend really enjoyed his breakfast, so this rating is a compromise. read more

The chicken was freshly battered and fried to moist perfection, and the waffle was hot and tasty. The appearance of the sausage gravy was not appealing, but its taste was amaze-balls. After flying the redeye from San Francisco to Nashville I was seriously contemplating getting another order. This great little spot was starting to get packed at 7/730am on a Friday morning. Wandering past the Sun Diner, I saw empty seats and wandered in. Kellie, my server said that I just missed a rush. Kellie was very friendly and helpful. Although skeptical about it being served on white toast instead of a roll, I was surprised that it held together until the end. There were just a few too many fries, but that was OK, because I was going to the game outdoors and it was cold. As a 63 year old, I LOVED the atmosphere.
