The business was loaded with anything and everything you would want for hanging from the ceiling, and it was organized! Another plus for me. We happened to get the owner as our "sales" person. What a gentleman and easy to talk to. We told him what we wanted, he walked us to the exact item we needed, he demonstrated how it would work for us, they happen to be having a sale on this item, we bought three of them. Sun Lighting is also the source for odd or exotic bulbs and parts. Service is superb. Our first experience was to find a trim ring for an unusual fixture. Some years and another house later and they provided two marvelous chandeliers and solved a complex issue with a kinky pendant light. Just recently they solved a ceiling fan issue. It took several visits to get the proper fan parts and make the repair - but at no additional labor cost. If you want cheap then go to the big box retailer but remember that your house is likely your biggest investment. Don't cheap out simply for the small difference it costs to get the best. read more

I needed two Halogen Bi-pin bulbs replacements for my kitchen cabinets.This was my first time replacing them so I instinctively went to a shop on Speedway/Wilmot. And as I was wandering around there very beautiful store, I came across the most amazing find. So far so good. We are looking for a replacement ceiling fan and light for our bedroom. The original came from Home Depot about six years ago and has a new and exciting persistent operational mode: The fan rotates at about ten revolutions per minute and the light blinks on and off at about the same pace as a turn signal. It's got to go. Sun Lighting has got an extensive display of Emerson ceiling fans including some with a 72 inch wing span. This large dimension is better for moving large volumes of air at a relatively low velocity. In other words a bedroom at night. The price range is a little salty but you get a very wide variety of fan blade/light/remote configurations and you can get the big blades. We still have some comparing to do but I think that the Hunter fan we got last time from Home Depot is out of the running and Emerson from Sun Lighting is still in. Sun also has a large display of low voltage rail lighting and the less attractive track lighting. read more

We built a house east of downtown and wanted a fixture that would fit in with our rather eclectic decor. Sun Lighting has an amazing array of fixtures in their showroom. But to top that off, their website has literally hundreds -thousands- of additional fixtures of every style imaginable . We found the perfect fixture after an easy search. And then, when we went again to the showroom, Christ gave us service that was as amazing as the selection. Chris even arranged installation with their installer, Brenden. The chandelier came in earlier than expected, and Brenden fit us into his schedule immediately. Brenden, too was super nice and efficient. I contacted Sun Lighting looking for a very specific replacement bulbs for my chandelier. The representative was familiar with the brand and assured me that they likely had exactly what I was looking for and invited me to come down. I advised also it would be extremely helpful if I had a bulb or a box the bulb came in as they could get it if it was not on hand. I immediately departed for their store as these lights are not easy to come by. (Sun Lighting is 20 miles from my house) When I walked in, there were maybe 4 browsers in the store and a total of 4 people working. I was completely ignored for 15 minutes. I waited patiently at the counter with bulb & box in hand when finally I was helped. The woman who helped me was less than enthusiastic, she disappeared to the back then re-emerged 5 minutes later with a simple "No, we don't have this." I asked if there was any way to order some as I was looking to pick up 25 ($5.50 a piece), I got a "No" so I asked if there was anyone else in town who might have these, her response?!... "Commercial lighting stores...they aren't open on Saturdays." END CONVERSATION. That was it, she was done and I was done, no offers for any additional help or any inquiries if I was interested in any further items etc... I tried to do the right thing. I attempted to patron a local business, a pillar in the community, open since 1953 but was treated like a derelict in the process. I returned home to my wonderful computer where I spent a total of $3k on new light fixtures for my house... Shame on you Sun Lighting, shame on you. The positive take away from this was that I saw 3 fixtures at their store that I ultimately purchased with an on-line vendor. read more

Instructions on operating were given and any questions I had were answered in a pleasant and respectful manner. If I could give less of star rating, I would. If you need lighting I would not recommend this place. We decided to go thru Sun Lighting because our GC used them. We spent a considerable amount of money on lighting and the service I received was unprofessional, rude and abusive (specifically the owner or manager, Danny),and the lack of follow through could be nothing less then unintentional. Im not sure how you could be in the business this long and still have customers with this type of service. I have had a broken chandelier hanging from my ceiling for 6 months. Four times, the same part came in wrong and for 6 months not one person from Sun Lighting came to my home to look at the part to make sure it was right. I had to call them to complain and then talk to their Rep from the chandelier place who also stated they had sat on the part and not called to install it even thought the part was wrong again anyway. After Danny explained his solution to the problem and I stated that was not going to work he started yelling at me on the phone. Needless to say, I was not going to take that or his business any longer. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere and save the hassle. read more

I came in to sun lighting because I wanted higher end sconces for my hallway, and I "thought" they were a reputable lighting store. I scoured their catalogs until I came upon some which indicated they were reclaimed wood and iron. When they finally arrived we discovered they were nothing like what we were expecting. Instead of wood, it was made out of a resin/plastic and the iron was just poorly painted aluminum. The "spindles" we're literally cut in half so looking at the profile is atrocious. On top of this, each "candle" was horribly crooked. These fixtures came with a hefty price tag as well. When we came in to the store to return them, we were made to wait an exceptionally long time, then told to leave the fixtures and Gabriel would talk to his manager. Gabriel NEVER called me back. In fact it's been a week, exactly today and I called and conveniently he's not there, so I talked to his manager. The manager is claiming they won't be refunding me my money, DESPITE the fact the fixtures aren't even in my possession anymore, they're AT Sun Lighting. He's claiming one is "used" because we attempted to install it, despite how awful the quality was, to see if it would work. Of course it didn't. Anyone with half a brain would know that you only have to clip the twisted part of wire and use the wire cutters to strip the coating off the end and "wa la" it's in pristine unused condition. If I had installed and "used" the fixtures for even a week, I could understand, but it was literally put up, then taken immediately down. Not USED. Not only that but the fixture is incredibly crooked. They should return it simply for the fact it is DEFECTIVE. I'm an interior designer and have dealt with MANY lighting stores in the past. Never have I dealt with any customer service on a return like this before. This is atrocious. I wouldn't recommend ANYONE purchasing from this store. Preston your explanation to justify this is pitiful. The lights I returned to your store were DEFECTIVE. Regardless of what "policies" you have in place, there was absolutely NO EXCUSE for you to not return them. read more

As one who is retired from 42-years of professional sales I like to think I can recognize a professional organization from one that is not. Therefore, I felt compelled to write a note to thank Marianne, Gabriel, and Randy, for taking care of our recent issue with an Emerson ceiling fan originally installed April 25, 2016. Not only am I impressed with Sun Lighting but also the individual I spoke with in the Technical Support Department at Emerson. They quickly identified a faulty receiver as the cause so they sent one to me overnight at no charge. When this did not solve the problem I again contacted Sun Lighting. Without hesitation they scheduled a service call to come out to troubleshoot the problem, again at no charge. Randy installed a new receiver and also a new wall control, which readily returned our fan and light fixture to "as new" condition. Not only did Sun Lighting handle this issue properly and promptly, but with a great attitude and friendly response. It was obvious they wanted to see the issue resolved to their customer's satisfaction. Great customer service can make a good product much better, and did so in this case. As a result we own two Emerson ceiling fans plus all the exterior lights in our home came from Sun Lighting. We highly recommend Sun Lighting for all home light fixture and fan needs because a response like this in today's business world has become the exception rather than the rule. If you're going into their showroom, you'll probably have better luck - if you're ordering online you'll want to rethink that. Buckle up for the most inept and unprofessional online buying experience you can find in this day and age where that shouldn't be a thing any more. Ordered a fan/light control in a color the box stores don't carry and Lutron pointed us here as a place we could order it. Not exactly discount pricing but hey, we wanted it in a particular color so fine - typical online purchase with credit card via secure web site and about a week later we get a call from them asking us to manually read our credit card info to them over the phone. Huh? Yeah, for "freight" (you know, what everyone else calls shipping). Apparently they don't know how much a switch will cost to ship to us until after they've charged us for the switch and the "freight" folks are not hooked into their online system so they do it separately. Not making this up. You literally buy without knowing how much it'll cost to ship to you and the payment process is not secure. Nice. After asking for a refund they wanted me to again provide them my CC info over the phone to issue the refund and we refused, asking them to mail us a check. After a month it never came, we were never contacted so we're opening a fraud case with Visa to take care of it. Definitely deal with these folks on a cash and carry basis only - I'd never trust them with sensitive information. read more
