We thought we'd try this place. We both love Asian food. I don't believe we'll be returning. We did order it towards the end of the day and not sure if that played a part in the quality of the food or not. But neither of us liked it. Food was just okay, nothing special to write home about. I was in Temple doing errands and was talking to my favorite guy and he suggested I try something different than my usual KFC stop!! So I saw this on Yelp and decided to stop in. There was definitely social distancing and the employees wore mask and gloves. The employees were so nice. I ordered the Teriyaki Shrimp w/ fried rice as vegetables , Egg Drop Soup and a fried Wonton. Oh wow was I surprised when she brought out the soup first. It wasn't the usual bright yellow soup. It had a brown tint to it and it tasted scorched. I was hoping the meal was a lot better than the soup. The plate came out and I looked at the salad sized shrimp swimming in this runny Teriyaki sauce and thought this better taste amazing because this isn't what it looked like on the menu!! The fried rice was just sticky rice with absolutely no flavor and very little color. Then to the stir-fried vegetables which was mostly cabbage...dang it! The fried wonton with a sauce was excellent compared to everything else! Like I said the employees which turned out to be the owners were so nice. But for the meal that costs close to $15.00 I was not impressed and will never eat there again. I basically threw the meal in the trash and drove to my favorite KFC and bought a meal for dinner. read more

What can I say about Suns kitchen that I haven't already told Elaina, which by the way is the owner. This is one of my favorite places to eat in Temple. They are such great people and are always so kind. The food is absolutely delicious. I always get the spicy Bulgogi and they have never let me down! Her husband is a great cook and her dad is just so sweet back there helping them. It's a family affair. Back to the food, the eggrolls are the best eggrolls in town. Their egg drop soup is off the chain and the sweet tea is banging! Now they have become special to me. Not only because the food is great, but because the service is always so good! Elaina is the sweetest person you will ever meet. She is a complete blessing to me honestly. All of this because we ate there and we're hooked after the first serving. Sun's kitchen was a pretty solid place. I ordered the sesame chicken, orange chicken, dumplings, cream cheese wontons and beef bulgogi. The chicken was actual chunks of chicken instead of slivers covered in tons of breading. Both the dumplings and wontons were nice and crispy. Overall was a solid meal. read more

That is why it's good to see something unique: Sun's, a local place owned by local people with only one location. Here's an added bonus: they seem to be a family, mom and pop and a daughter. They are genuinely friendly people offering a simple menu of decent food at decent prices. Their food tastes fresher than other oriental restaurants here. They've only been open two weeks and have already earned a place among the restaurants my wife and I treat ourselves to. Since Hector lost El Dorado, we needed a replacement in our rotation. Not the fanciest place in town, but for the price it's very hard to beat! My wife had the stir fry noodles with chicken, I had the beef bulgogi. We sampled off of each other's plate and both were very good. The egg rolls and soups were also very tasty. Had a great lunch from here, manages to hit the mark on price, quantity, and quality. I got a shrimp fried rice and it was 7.99 and plentiful. Most meals seem to be made on a hibachi grill that is viewable to customers which I thought was interesting. No complaints whatsoever and happy to see a new non-chain restaurant on 31st. Bonus tip: if you like it spicy, the chef has two different dried chili powders that he will mix into your dish while making it if asked.
