We paid $24.95 and we order 3-5 items at a time depending how busy the kitchen was.They do have different tiers you can pay if you want more premium options. We tried the: -Calamari was not a fan was really stringy -Eggs rolls were good but were more like spring rolls -Fried Gyoza were really great and the sauce it came with -Chicken and Beef on Skewers were really savory and delicious - Sushi was good but a bit salty for my taste -Green tea was great The service was good but they do have some kinks to still work out. For example two times they forgot parts of our order and I think it was hard for the waiters to keep track of what had already come out and what was missing. This place was really great. We went for the lunch AYCE and had a really great experience. Our server was so nice and continued to come back to make sure we had all our order in and our waters were refilled. The sushi was okay quality, typical for an ayce place. This is a great new AYCE sushi place in Gainesville. They have some "rules" around the AYCE service like 90 minute timer and you can't place more orders until your previous orders are all delivered, but they really didn't take away from our experience much at all. We went for lunch which I would recommend, I didn't feel that ordering from the orange and blue tiers would be worthwhile. Because of the AYCE, the variety of rolls is somewhat limited. But overall the quality of sushi was great, and we absolutely got our money's worth at $25 for lunch. The salmon and yellowtail were incredible, the tuna was a bit lower quality but not bad. First off, incredible experience with the server Yonna. Her service was legendary! She was so efficient, friendly, and did a phenomenal job in explaining the menu as well as AYCE options. This new sushi restaurant opened up recently (1-2 months ago) and seems to be pretty slow in the summer time in Gainesville. It should pick up in the Fall. If you look at the price structure, it is incredibly fair. I got the base AYCE black option, but would likely try the orange or blue in the future. The service was incredibly swift. After placing an order, I had my first set of appetizers and sushi rolls within 10 minutes time. The flavor of everything was also fairly solid. The move to Gainesville from Orlando has been difficult as I had to leave a lot of my favorite restaurants behind; So when I heard that an all you can eat restaurant was opening up it was the 1st thing on my Gainesville bucket list. PROS: At this AYCE sushi restaurant, we were greeted by a very friendly staff, an attractive menu and our personable server, Daniel. Daniel's expertise in guiding us through the various options was unparalleled. He introduced us to a variety of popular choices, including velvety slices of yellowfin tuna that practically melted on the tongue, and tangy salmon that boasted a fresh, oceanic sweetness. Each piece of sashimi was expertly sliced to showcase its natural flavors and textures, reflecting the chef's commitment to quality and precision. Throughout our meal, Daniel checked in regularly to ensure our plates plates and drinks were replenished promptly and that we had everything we needed. His friendly demeanor and genuine passion for sushi added an extra layer of enjoyment to the dining experience, making us feel welcomed and valued. Kinda Cons: Each person can order the "colored" items on the menu only once throughout your meal, which is different than most AYCE.However the black colored items on the menu can be ordered without limitations. Portions for the appetizers and a-la-carte are also pretty small but for me that's a pro because I can venture out and try everything almost like a tasting menu. We ended up trying the "Orange+Black" menu because it gave access to the array of sashimis and a few premium appetizers. But the "Blue+Black" menu is still plenty of food for those that are not looking to experiment too much. First let me preface by saying we very much enjoyed the former restaurant (Swamp Boil) that was housed here previously and when it closed we anxiously waited for something new to take it's place. We couldn't be more thrilled that Sun Sushi has arrived! This week we decided to take advantage of the 20% off for their grand opening, and we were not disappointed. Yes, there are some rules, but once you understand what you can and can't do it becomes easier. ORANGE menu (Reg. $39.95/pp) you get to try EVERYTHING from the Orange, Blue, and Black price lists! (Limit 5 out of the 10 from Orange and Blue priced items with no repeats!) BLUE menu (Reg. $35.95/pp) is everything on the Blue list and all of the Black. (Limit 5 out of the 10 from the Blue priced items with no repeats!) *TIP: Also, you are allowed to order up to 5 items at a time per person, each time you order. I would recommend doing that in the beginning at the very least, so you will have food to enjoy early on. We went on Wednesday early evening at 6pm and it was already half filled with diners and with more coming in. We were seated promptly and within five minutes the lovely Ayonna/Yonna came and took our drink orders. It took about another 20 minutes before we were able to order, but we welcomed that time to peruse the extensive menu. Ayonna/Yonna continued to check on us, and her service was EXCELLENT! From previous reviews about "small" portions we came with lowered expectations, but then realized you can really enjoy this more by thinking of it as a "tasting menu", however most sushi rolls were full-sized! That being said we personally tried our hardest not to consume too much with rice and found EVERYTHING we tried was so fresh and delicious. Of course, we eventually succumbed to some really awesome sushi rolls. There's also a "90 minute rule" for ordering, but they don't adhere strictly to that, and we think it was meant to encourage people to dine and not linger. We tried so many different things and hardly made a dent in the large AYCE menu, but after being there for almost 2.5 hours we had no complaints at all about the food or the service. One star taken off for atmosphere as the noise level was really loud at it's busiest, and for the young *bus* girl who seemed to just be wandering around looking for something to do and not doing much of anything! We left very happy and satisfied, and since there are no pictures of the menu items listed, I hope that my pictures will help some folks make decisions about what to try. We will certainly be back! We had a large party (9 of us). Waited 30 minutes for a table (no problem; it's a Saturday night at 6:45-7pm-ish. However it was incredibly difficult to order a drink from the bar while we waited.). Once we finally got sat at our table, it took 30 minutes for menus to be delivered to us, and we got take-out menus because they couldn't find the dine-in menus. Of course, since we'd been there for quite some time, most of us already had an idea of what we wanted to order, which finally happened at 8:05 (35 min after sitting at our table.) The first item delivered to is was the deep fried gyoza. It was luke warm. 4/10. The shrimp tempura was a little bland. The chicken teriyaki was very tasty, with tender chicken and veggies. I just wish it had more teriyaki sauce on it. I'm not a big sushi fan, but the table LOVED the Philadelphia rolls (crunchy and regular (7/10)), rainbow rolls (8/10), monkey brains (10/10). The skewers were very tasty (we got beef). The salmon rolls and lobster rolls also appeared to be a hit. Our server (Anna/Yonna) did an amazing job considering all of her responsibilities. She had two large parties at once and seemed to have very little support. She did her best to refill our glasses, but we spent a lot of time with them empty. But she remained cheerful and helpful for the entire night. And, she was working her tail off the entire time. The food was all very visually appealing, ambiance was also very nice. I feel like I need to give this place another chance, and with a smaller group. But they definitely need to hire some more employees. False advertising. All you can eat is not all you can eat, it's all they can cook within 90 minutes. They then cook extremely slowly and miss several items making you order again. The portions are really small, about one bite each. There's also a limit of choosing an item only once per a person. We got kicked out hungry at the 90 minute mark. read more

The "rules" are simple pretty much don't order 5 rolls at a time. I know I was curious if I was limited but they would prefer just 2-3 at a time per person. Service in beginning was slacking but then Brittany took over after noticing. She was amazing at explaining the menu, food items and all around fun personality. Went in really hungry wanting a good lunch special. The Sushi Lunch A was good with salmon (4 salmon nigiri, 6 pieces of the spicy salmon roll, 3 gyoza, soup, and salad) didn't get the salad for some reason. Someone else got the teriyaki chicken platter that's supposed to come with veg and it came out as a deconstructed salad (raw cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce). Asked for cooked veg and it came out streamed and no seasonings or anything. Downside they don't bring your meals out all together. This place is extremely understaffed. The same person is basically doing everything themselves. There is nobody as a hostess. There was a dirty table right next to where I got seated and stayed there until we started to get our own food. There aren't any napkins on the table or silverware and they don't bring you any when you get food. There is a communal container with soup spoons and chopsticks. You don't get the soy sauce dish either for your sushi. The reason why I'm stating everything is because they don't even walk around to ask if you want to refill or ask if you need anything. All you can eat sushi in a college town! Score! But like sports in Gainesville, even when you're up, you still lose. A friend saw that a new AYCE sushi restaurant was opening, and we decided to try it out. We were seated promptly at 6:30 pm and placed our order at 7:15. One would expect that a new AYCE restaurant in 2024 would have an efficient way to take orders, i.e. having a tablet at the table for guests to put orders in by themselves or quickly jotting down orders, or even just simply having a paper menu for guests to mark what they want; however, that is not the case. The orders are put in by the waitress and then printed on a receipt that may somehow be longer than the ones from CVS, with no way for the back of house to mark which items were made and which were not. At 8:15, we finally received our appetizers and were genuinely shocked at the portion size (please see the attached pictures). Yes, it is an appetizer, so yes, the portions are expected to be smaller, but 4 nugget sized pieces of tonkatsu? Seriously? But this isn't even the "appetizer".. or lack there of... of this review! After waiting an hour for this food to come out, it was cold. Maybe if we sat on the patio it would've been room temperature? Please don't be confused, we are still talking about the tonkatsu, not the "AYCE" sushi, because the restaurant may have confused the two. Oh wait... they didn't! 20 minutes later, we receive our first order of sashimi. Yippie! We're finally getting to the meat and potatoes of the meal! Or not... The sashimi (specifically salmon) that we received was thinner than a piece that would be put on nigiri and you can still feel the ice in the fish. It was laughable. Imagine sitting at a new restaurant, waiting two hours to receive barely any food, and then "add" that it is flavorless and FROZEN. Disappointing. Two and a half hours into our meal, or shall I say our wait, we have yet to receive any sushi rolls, and are still hungry. Our server, who was the kindest person and the only reason why this review is getting more than 1 star, asked us if we were missing any food, which we obviously were, and diligently marked all the things that were missing from the CVS length receipt. She then allowed us to place a second order for anything else that we wanted. Surprisingly, the food started to come out a little faster! We received our food within about 20 minutes of placing the order, but guess what! It is now 9pm and the restaurant and kitchen are closed. You may be saying "maybe you should have placed bigger orders each time the waitress was there!" No. The restaurant, which specifically states that they will charge for any left overs, including rice, limits guests to 5 orders at a time. With the pace that the food came out, we ate the frozen cafeteria style vegetables they used to "plate" the non existent food. One would hope that a restaurant that limits its guests to a certain amount per order, takes hours to serve quantities equivalent to a tasting menu AND has the quality of a midwestern seafood buffet, would at least try to make their last few guests happy before closing, but no. The kitchen closed, and everyone in the restaurant clearly heard the sushi chef scream to the waitress "NO MORE". $40 per person and over 2 hours later at an AYCE restaurant, we can somehow say that we are still hungry, maybe even more than when we walked in. Although this experience may be due to the restaurant being new, the lack of quality control and the absurd wait times have led to the decision of never returning. Hopefully the owner knows that profit margins won't matter if there aren't any customers walking through the doors. Customers should come first and using plates from the previous restaurant "Swamp Boil" is definitely not a good look. As we all know, the Sun sets earlier when the weather gets cold. read more

The man who seemed to be the manager just looked at me and walked away while he welcomed the other white people so flattering. Discrimination on Asian people? Then I ordered a pho combination. They didn't give all the meat and the chef told me that the meat ball was out of stock. They gave me one later anyway after I negotiated with the girl to downgrade to pho with two meat.
