There are always some new faces at the front counters but each year they are younger and sweeter, more intelligent, and well informed about the ingredients of each menu item. The kitchen is attentive to every little nuance making foods healthy but sumptuous and tasteful. I was starved when I arrived on a redeye from LA and I ordered the Kimchi breakfast tacos and the quinoa porridge. The Kimchi spiced up the corn tortillas, egg and cheese with savory and tangy fermented cabbage. Stopped by for a quick breakfast and was definitely satisfied. This spot seems pretty popular, as the inside was really busy, so plan to order ahead if you want faster service. I enjoyed my iced latte that I got, but I'm not too picky with my coffee. The sandwich had a nice runny egg, thick bacon that was well-seasoned, and toasty, buttery bread. I put the mayo on the side, which I think was a mistake, because it was a little dry (but that's my fault). Overall, yummy meal! read more

i may have written a review already but we went here again today and compared to other breakfast places around the eastham orleans area this place is soooo great. There's a more mature woman with very short hair who looks like she either owns or manages the place and the young people she oversees are exceptional. i am so impressed by the the way its run and the amazingly good coffee and food. i had to buy lots of swag there. The sunbird sandwich and taco is amazingly good, the fingerling potatoes to die for and people who eat at the counter are so friendly. maybe we will go there before we leave tomorrow. a wonderful memorable part of our stay here read more

LOVE Sunbird! My favorite coffee shop on the cape! Total hipster vibe which I love. This morning I stopped in for a single origin Ethiopian coffee that was floral and mildly acidic. Fresh, not over roasted, and juicy. Very nice compliment to my morning. This afternoon I came back for more and got a cold brew, which was smooth and balanced, and didn't have the bitterness that some cold brews get from over extraction. For food I got the steak and egg banh mi, which was an absolutely perfect post-workout snack. Hearty and filling but not oversized. I would have liked some more pickled veg on the sandwich to balance it out more, but I load all my sandwiches with pickles, so I might be biased! The aesthetic is very cool, and personally I love their merch. It's very cool retro-80's, and reminds me a bit of the ads for Honda motorcycles and Kodak cameras I saw growing up. I dig it, and bought a beach towel that I love. And lastly, my favorite thing on the menu: Bird Turds!! These little sweets are balls of dates, nuts, puffed rice, and candied ginger, rolled in toasted coconut. They are all natural and positively ADDICTIVE. I got myself a bag of 10 (for ¢85 a piece!) and have been snacking on them all week. My only complaint is that the food can sometimes take a long time to make. What a cool spot. It's a little confusing initially when you walk in, can be overwhelming. It was so busy so I'm sure that added to it. You place your order in one line, pick up your drinks at another counter and your food at some shelving to the right. Service was quick, food was fantastic. We came here to pick up quick coffees to go twice. The ambiance is vibing and the coffee menu has great variety. I ordered a cortado with oat milk to go and it was nice and strong, just how I like it. I also got a cornbread rhubarb muffin which was interesting. I wouldn't order it again because it wasn't my cup of tea, but it was certainly creative and stuffed with cooked rhubarb. The muffin also had a syrup coating it that gave off a honey sweetness. The inside of the shop is small, and there's really not enough room to get around, especially since there are only a few tables in the place. Not good coffee. If you want an extra shot it's $3! I live in DC and don't see those prices. Also, they only have whole milk and milk alternatives. So if you want nonfat or soy then you are out of luck. I was so excited to try it and can't say I'll be coming back. Way too loud to work and beyond overwhelming even at 8am on a Wednesday. As if I needed another cute coffee shop on the Cape! Sunbird however blows the breakfast game out of the water. Multiple people suggested checking this place out and I'm glad I did. I got the breakfast sandwich, which was delicious. Thick cut bacon, super soft and flavorful bread and amazing citrus mayo. I would definitely order it again. Nice little place. Found through yelp The logo looks like some surf shop clothing store but have nice food and great baked goods. Service was quick and great seating area as well. We ordered breakfast sandwiches and chicken salad sandwich. Both were great. Breakfast sandwich was so good. Great bread perfect egg bacon and nice sauce. Chicken salad was on the sweeter side. Easily the best chai latte on Cape. They use Mem Tea and the spice and milk ratio to tea is perfect. They have divine treats. Breakfast items are highly focused on fried eggs and pork. I am not a fan of either so choices are limited. The breakfast porridge is lovely. I recommend sharing. It is a chill place to sit and enjoy quiet convo. A lovely crew of staff. Ode to the Bird Breakfast Sandwich! The ingredients themselves are standard--bread, a fried farm egg, bacon, mayo, and greens--but the result goes beyond good to sublime. The bread is ciabatta and is the perfect combo of crisped outside and soft enough inside to give it body, but not so chewy that you have to work at it. You can get your egg over hard or easy, which is the way I recommend it, to get some nice warm, drippy yolk. Two thick pieces of delicious smoky bacon, some greens and scallions, and a mayo punched up with a citrus hit. Seriously, perfection! This is a breakfast sandwich elevated (you could have it for any meal of the day, honestly). There were other fresh and tasty menu items too, but for the Bird Sandwich alone, I'll be sure to stop by any time I'm on the Cape. read more

Found this place on our way to Provincetown and it's an easy location to drop in, grab a quick bite, and continue on our road trip. We had the Bird Breakfast Sandwich and it was ginormous. It was packed with lots protein and was very filling! I also ordered the Sunbird Burger and was very disappointed. The sandwich was yummy except that it sat in a pool of the burger juices. The bottom bun soaked up the juices and was mushy and the texture just made me gag and I couldn't finish it. The guy next to me also ordered the burger and he was struggling to eat it as well. The breakfast sandwich is delicious with egg and big slab bacon. He ate all his. My daughter and I shared one. Roll is perfect and different. Makes the morning sandwich unique. Breakfast tacos. Two per order. More nicely cooked fried eggs and bacon on corn tortillas. He had one later as a part of lunch. She and I split one right away. Yum. Sticky bun? Very good too. Be warned: this is not a good place to bring your family. I will start by saying this: I like Sunbird -- it was one of my go-to places to take myself on a date. The food is thoughtful and wholesome; the vibe, bohemian and cool. I've been a customer for years (and remember when it used to be the Sparrow!) and have spent an embarrassing amount of money here. What makes them unfriendly to families, you ask? Their complete and arbitrary lack of flexibility. No toast after 11am. No kid-friendly options. No way to have your eggs scrambled. (I find this one particularly mind-blowing... you mean you don't have a fork and a bowl back there? You mean I can't pay you an extra dollar or two to scramble the egg for my 14 month old? What?) TL;DR: Their approach to people is cold and they prioritize their menu over their customers. There are no exceptions (not even for local regulars!). For single people, it may be be fine. For families who need more support, flexibility, and warmth, there are plenty of other options in Orleans. read more

Good but inconsistent and menu gets boring One day excellent focaccia with different toppings- delicious pesto, zucchini in summer, mushrooms, etc. But go in again and focaccia is plain and tastes stale. Soup specials are homemade and delicious: parsnip with apple, minestrone. Pastries need improvement. Seems they take pastries from Pain D'Avignon and then add drizzles of chocolate. Not a great croissant experience. Wish they made their own. They usually have a corn muffin. Would like to see mor inventive, fresh and varied options. The doughnuts are good, Mexican chocolate- yum! Coffee is good but the baristas can be friendly or grumpy. While I believe in trans rights, not sure a trans right tshirt with knives pictured on it (what?!) or a Don't Suck tshirt is appropriate. My 6 year old is an early reader and I heard Don't Suck for the rest of the day after going in there. read more

Enjoyed their cold brew coffee and an almond croissant. Lots of vegan, GF, vegetarians and organic choices. Small amount of seating and people are not in a hurry, so getting a seat during weekends is hit or miss. (I missed.) Very neat little restaurant that I was fortunate to find in Orleans while visiting. I had the bird breakfast sandwich with egg, bacon on grilled ciabatta. It was just awesome.
