Been coming for a few years now. When I say nothing has changed, that's a good thing. It has been top notch for as long as I've been coming. And as bartenders come and go (per normal) they have always held the same atmospherical vision for The Rail. I usually sit at the bar, but the few times I've sat at tables, the servers have delivered the same great experience. Stopped by The Rail for a leisurely breakfast. Vibe, service and staff were all great, but I found the food just OK. My omelet was flat and uninspiring - needed more body and extras. Wow! Ever so slightly out of the way for us, this was a great find! We've had breakfast there twice this week and it will be a regular stop when we're in town again. The food is great! We had breakfast burritos, a Portuguese breakfast sandwich, pancakes, omelette, and French toast. Everyone was pleased! Trixie was the greatest, most fun waitress (her real name is Alice) and the food AMAZING (my brunch burger had homemade hollandaise and corned beef hash on it!) I had the Apple Cinnamon French toast the thinly sliced of apple were fresh with a bit of crunch the bread was soft n juicy with a cinnamon brown sugar syrup & crispy salty bacon ( just the way I like it). My husband had the Pancakes with butter n syrup. They were light and delicious. Service was superb, everyone was very friendly and attentive. Went here on a Saturday for lunch. Menu is mostly breakfast but my husband got a burger he said was very good, I had the veggie Benedict and it was very delicious, our friend got the breakfast burrito and she enjoyed it as well. First time diner, we arrived around noon and the staff was friendly dealing with customers on the wait list, getting them a table promptly. The issue we had was that they asked if we had a preference to sit inside or outside. Normally not a problem, so we said we didn't have a preference, until we were seated at a table directly in the sun. The table had an umbrella...but wait, the umbrella had to stay closed because there was a craft warning. I asked for clarification and I was told there MIGHT be winds so the umbrella COULD become an issue. We proceeded to eat our lunch with an 85 degrees sun and sweating. During the lunch, the half piece of paper on our table barely moved. I can totally understand if there were winds, but there weren't. The most entertaining part of the lunch was them telling customers they had to lower the umbrellas due to the potential winds, which left customers with a blank look on their face. The food was good, but I bet we would have thought it was better if not for the circumstances. We ordered the French Toast, Pancakes and Apple Cinnamon French Toast. The side of home fries were just frozen home fries, which was disappointing because you would expect home made sides with a place with these reviews. My wife enjoyed her smoked salmon eggs benedict special as well as the iced coffee. The rest of us ordered juice and water but was never asked if we needed a refill. Overall, I am rating The Rail 3 stars because the food was good but could have done better with the customer service side to make you comfortable (which is in their restaurant statement). read more

The Oreo waffle special was amazing. The kids loved their chocolate chip pancakes. The avocado toast was just what I wanted after all these nights of lobster rolls and fried goodness. TR is a great place for dinner, the 14 in our party all enjoyed there appetizers, and dinner selections.The restaurant is very welcoming, and seated us in a small dining room that accommodated our party, and with one additional table for four. Oysters Rockefeller, littleneck casino, and tuna tacos were enjoyed by our group. I ordered bouillabaisse which was good and included shrimp, clams, two types of fish, and mussels (had one bad mussel). Two of our party ordered fish and chips and it was delicious with the chips that came with them fantastic. coffee crusted flank steak came out perfectly cooked and tasty. Chicken piccata, and pasta primavera were two other delicious entrees that also got rave reviews. The rail is a solid dinner suggestion while you are in the East Orleans area of Cape Cod, and I was told my two of our party that they also really enjoyed breakfast there he day before. read more

Very nice sitting accommodations both inside and out, along with a private parking lot that offer some shade for the cars. We were seated inside by the window and enjoyed some subtle background music and a nice atmosphere. The waitress was very kind and prompt and our food was very delicious. The home fries were average but the entrées we had, the Apple croissant and the Oscar Benedict were both worth writing about. I definitely would recommend either one of them. Disappointing. We returned to The Rail. The corned beef hash portion on the breakfast serving was much smaller than last year and the quantity of potatoes on the plate was much larger. If the adjustments were made to manage costs, it would be better to restore the prior ratio and increase the price. The service and ambiance were fine. read more

What a great find! I'm so happy! Best breakfast we've had on the Cape in 2024. It seemed like there was going to be a long wait, but we were seated quickly. Service was spot on. We sat outside in a cute patio area. Good variety on the menu. We each got eggs Bennie, 3 different varieties. We all agreed that the eggs were poached to perfection. The hollandaise sauce had a really nice flavor and was homemade. The muffins were toasted to our liking, nothing mushy. The classic Bennie had thin sliced ham, which was preferred. The meat lovers was thoroughly enjoyed. I had the Oscar Bennie and it was awesome! The crabmeat tasted fresh and the asparagus were perfectly cooked. The home fries were fine. We stopped here for breakfast after much begging on my part. This newly renovated and opened restaurant and an awesome logo and asthetic and menu posted online. When we went in, I was a little disappointed how the restaurant still looked out of date. We ordered mimosas which were small, but really tasty. I ordered the apple croissant which is a must have. An odd combination of items I wouldn't normally pair but so good. You hit gold on this combo, highly recommend. My husband ordered scrambled eggs, sausage and home fries. The home fries were disappointing, they were almost like mini French fry squares. He was really not impressed with his breakfast. If you do decide to come, definitely get the apple croissant! The Rail opened in a building that has been a few restaurants previously, but this was my first time eating there in and iteration. I was blown away by not only the warm and friendly staff, but also the inventive cocktail and brunch menus! I decided upon coffee, water, the Marma Jamma and the Benedict Oscar (Crab Cake Benedict), while my husband opted for the Pochet Painkiller and the Portuguese handheld. OH. MY. GOD... I love eggs Benedict, and this version was such a delight! The poached eggs were PERFECTLY soft/jammy without being too runny; the hollandaise sauce was creamy with a little zip; the English muffin was indeed LARGE as advertised; and the crab cake was tender, flavorful, and seemed to be 90% crab as opposed to 70% breadcrumb like you get at other restaurants. The asparagus were tender, and the home fries were salted just enough and tender crisp. I like mine with a little hot sauce, and the Cholula did the trick. The Snowy Owl coffee was rich and warm, not bitter, and served in a large mug. I wasn't offered a refill, but after I finally completed my serving, I didn't need a second pour. The Marma Jamma was a clever drink that was delicious, had a hint of tang, and was well balanced and not too sweet. The fact that it was made with house marmalade was just the special touch I was looking for. As far as the Portguese handheld: tender, soft scrambled eggs, a healthy slice of melty cheese and hearty linguica made for a memorable sandwich. I wish I had taken more than a few bites! The Pochet Painkiller was smooth, creamy, fruity, and refreshing without being too sweet. Overall: prices were reasonable, waitstaff were prompt and friendly, and the food and drinks were FANTASTIC! We will have to make this Orleans delight a regular in our rotation! read more

The Rail is a cozy little place in Orleans. We had breakfast there on the morning we arrived on the Cape. Left Logan Airport at 5:30 in Orleans At 6:45AM. When does that ever happen? We ate inside. Very clean, good service. I had an omelette which was well prepared. The coffee could use some help. There is a nice outdoor patio. Absolutely the best eggs Benedict on Cape! Mine had clumps of fresh crab meat and the hollandaise was so creamy with a hint of lemon. My son got the Gyro and loved it! The crescent with thinly sliced apple, melted cheese and egg was my Aunt's favorite. My sister loves their huge fluffy waffles with syrup that has a kick to it! It specializes in breakfast and lunch and employees seem to be kids who are working the summer earning money for college. The tables are well spaced for COVID purposes. The menu had a good variety of breakfast items such as eggs Benedict, French toast, pancakes, homemade corn beef hash, chicken and waffles etc. They also do sandwiches such as gyros, turkey bacon avocado, and burgers. We had the corned beef hash with grilled baby asparagus, home fries and over easy eggs. It was good but I would have added a piece of toast or two. My wife got the turkey avocado bacon wrap with potato wedges. Looked good. My daughter got a gyro wrap also with potato wedges. Decent value for the area (especially during tourist season). Absolutely no frills dining and as I said very casual. read more

There were monkey wrenches in the flower box, the syrup was NOT maple, which is a travesty when offering breakfast. If this was Dunkin Donuts, I would expect a cheap syrup, but the lack of maple does not match the upscale menu. The wait staff was totally inexperienced forgetting many things. We asked for menus, but were spoken down to and encouraged to use the icon thingy. These guys have to get their act together. I won't recommend it and probably won't go back. read more
