Tried this boba place and it was pretty good. The service was good with a nice cool atmosphere. I ordered the milk tea with less sugar and no boba. Prices were economical and easy parking inside. They have a lot of pastries to choose from also.

We got there at 5pm on a Saturday and luckily missed the crowd. We got two of those egg tarts ($3.50 each!) and the tiramisu and chocolate ice boxes. While the space was clean and organized, the service was meh. It's a self-serve bakery where you get a tray and put on it whatever you want and the cashier rings you up. The egg tart was delicious (not too sweet!) but we've yet to try the ice boxes. We'll be back to try some of their other stuff. Hopefully they can improve their service.

A small bakery in the midst of Camellia Square Plaza in Temple City, love the selection of breads here. They're stacked quite nicely compared to other bakeries which makes it easier to grab. I've seen this bakery get quite busy as it's next to plenty of popular spots. It's quite the spot to grab a quick snack/treat after eating your main meal. This specific visit with my partner, we got plenty of savory breads such as the frank roll, and plenty of sweet breads. Had my eyes on the mochi taro bread which turned out pretty tasty. Frank Roll was also pretty tasty, not too salty but it was however a bit greasy. My absolute favorite anywhere is certainly the pineapple bread (bo lo bao.) I'd say the ones at Sunmerry are a bit more standout than the ones at other Asian bakeries. Love the selection and a surprisingly good presentation on the bread. Not flat and very fluffy. Easy to eat and very enjoyable. Service here is pretty quick. Nothing too special or standout but it's mostly just pay and go. My partner and I both got a matcha latte as they were doing a BOGO. They often do promos and deals so watch out for that.

Always friendly staff. Unlike the one in the mall, custard tarts are not out in open. See pics, full to the bottom with gooey yummy custard goodness. Promotion for drinks next week.

I was at Camellia Square in Temple City a few weeks back. I saw Sunmerry Bakery and wanted to check them out, but I didn't get a chance to until most recently. I came here one Saturday evening. It's a cute shop, but I feel the walking space inside is limited because they have a big island of goodies in the middle of the shop. Lighting could be brighter. They sell sweet & savory pastries and breads, pretty cakes, mochi desserts, and other baked & refrigerated goods. They even have a boba and tea drinks menu. Cool! I knew exactly what I wanted to get which was their Taro cake slice. From what I was informed by the nice lady staff, they are not selling the Taro cake slice until after Christmas or maybe even after New Year's. Oh well. I got the Red Velvet and Black Forest cake slices instead. Unfortunately, I didn't care for either of these two cakes. Red Velvet was not what I expected... it was not sweet at all and was semi-mushy. Black Forest was better, but still lacked sweetness. I'll have to wait until after the New Year's to try their Taro... hope it won't disappoint like the other two. Fingers crossed! To my surprise, they also sell Melo Melo coconut desserts... selections are limited... maybe 5 to 6 flavors are available. I couldn't resist, but to buy 2 jars of Coconut Double. These are always good. Thank you! Staff was nice and pleasant. Service was quick as they weren't super busy. Pricing per slice was slightly higher than other bakeries. Packaging was fancy which may explain the higher pricing. Like I said, I'll be back to try the Taro cake slice and maybe even a few other cake flavors plus their baked goods and boba drinks.

Love the bread, pastries, cakes, and salted cream coffee and tea. My favorites are the garlic bread, sweet shokupan bread, salted roll, tuna bread, boroh bread, and custard cream bread. Oh and definitely try their eggtarts!

Sunmerry is an international Taiwanese bakery chain renowned for blending Japanese baking techniques with local Taiwanese flavors. Established in 1986, it has grown from a single shop in Taipei to a global brand with over 35 locations. The brand entered the U.S. in 2015, opening its first California location in Irvine, CA. This location is situated in the Camellia Square plaza at the intersection of Rosemead and Las Tunas. Through a partnership with Happy Lemon, which serves specialty drinks like salted cheese coffee and boba milk tea. The bakery operates on a self-serve basis for bread and pastries, where customers use provided trays and tongs to select their items. Baked goods are fresh, fluffy, and not too sweet. Our favorites are Pork Sung Buns, Brioche, Coconut Raisin, and Shokupan Sweet Rolls. While the surface parking lot can be crowded, there's a free underground parking garage accessible from the alley off Rosemead Blvd.

    So many pastries!

Sunmerry is a popular Asian bakery chain in California and New Jersey with an extensive selection of cakes, donuts, pastries, breads, croissants, and even some savory items like pork bolo buns and ham and egg brioche. They also make cakes to order for events and do fundraisers too. On my latest visit I grabbed a variety of sweet pastries to sample - mango mochinut, strawberry mochinut, strawberry cloud donut, coconut cream roll, and some cheese tarts that I mistook for egg tarts lol. Luckily I enjoyed the mistake - the cheese tarts were quite nice! Light but creamy and not too sweet - would get again. The strawberry cloud donut was decent too - the smooth cream was very sweet but balanced by the not-so-sweet pastry - and was a nice fluffy texture. The mochinuts had nice flavors too - very strong fruit profiles - but the texture was too chewy. I wouldn't get these again given there are so many mochinut shops in the SGV. The coconut cream roll was my least fave. The dough was kinda thick and dry and the cream just tasted like I was biting into a stick of butter with sugar mixed in - there wasn't much coconut flavor at all. And it was covered in the thinnest shaved coconut "dust" I've ever seen - it was very loose and messy and just covered every surface BUT the donut. Definitely wouldn't get this again. When you enter, you grab some tongs and a tray and just browse around and grab what you want. Take it up to the counter and they'll bag it up for you. They have coffee menu too - and were giving samples of cinnamon cheesecake (Japanese style) at the register which was fantastic! Service was friendly and welcoming. Prices were surprisingly great. They're located in a large shopping center with narrow parking spots which could be challenging when it gets busy. I wouldn't mind coming back to try more of their Japanese cheesecake options!

Delicious treats from sweet to savory. I just hate that they switched to using different oils in their baked goods. I thought it was butter but was informed they use palm oil, peanut oil, soybean oil, vegetable oil in the whipped cream stuff in some of the sweet buns. Not, sure if they stopped using butter completely but the coconut buns don't taste the same anymore. Not sure I'd purchase them again.

Sunmerry is solid for their pastries, breads, cakes and drinks! Favorite cake is the Tiramisu and the matcha. Favorite drink is salted cheese with green tea, grapefruit green tea, and their ice coffee drink. Favorite bread is the bolo bbq pork buns and the Hokkaido cream puffs! Located inside the teapot fountain shopping center. Parking lot is always packed so might have to wait a bit.

    Pineapple bun $2 & flaky egg tarts $1.49 each - March 2026
    Jennifer H.

Love their breads here. There aren't much bakeries open before 9am in the area. I'm glad they open at 8am. With an abundance of bread already baked fresh waiting for you. I saw a sign for $1.49 napoleon egg tarts so I decided to get 2 to try. They were pipping how fresh out of the oven. I wasn't expecting it to be ready so early in the morning. It's basically a Portuguese tart but flakier. The inside tastes the same. In 2026 I was not expecting to see egg tarts for under $2. It's a great deal. I even grabbed a dozen of the Portuguese egg tarts at another sunmerry a week later. All of the locations I've been to have all been consistent with the quality of their baked goods.

Jasmine Green Tea with Salted Cream
    Zinnia V.

Got their bogo drinks and it was good, the salted cream jasmine tea tastes similar to the one at 85 degree bakery! The only problem is they don't mix the sweetener for you so it's super thick at the bottom, you have to shake vigorously beforehand.

    Poor quality napoleon egg tarts

Kinda disappointed about their egg tart today. I don't know why the cashier decided it was okay to sell the egg tart with such poor quality and presentation. Advise everyone to check it before paying. Drinks were great tho. Got their BOGO peach oolong tea.

How is this business handling the re-opening? What safety measures are they taking? Are they offering dine-in?

Staff are just wearing masks and they have some hanging clear "walls" to separate the worker and customer. They often leave the door closed and sometimes A/C is not working but they thoroughly clean. No dine-in at all.

Are the bags that the pastries are in open or is it sealed and do customer pick their own pastries?

Had a dinner reservation with some girlfriends celebrating two of their birthdays. The restaurant itself isn't too big but it does a pack a nice punch. Cute patio out front that takes some of the sidewalks and streets. Plenty of heat lamps which helped with the chilly nights. We got seated at one of the tables on the patios which was nice. Didn't really utilize inside area except for the restroom which it's quite cute in there. The rooms were pretty well decorated and executed. Nice bar area too. Like mentioned, we got seated on the patio and the heat lamps were great. Down to the menus, it's quite limited on dishes. Seemed like there were more shared plates versus the entrees. Drinks, it was fairly decent with their cocktails and wine. Service at the beginning was great. The staff were amazing and very friendly. We didn't order right away as we were still waiting for the last one to show. But did start off with some drinks. It didn't take that long for the first round which was nice. Food wise, the shared plate was a mixture of everything. Some of the olives, which is exactly what it is. The Belgian fries, nice thick cut fries with shredded pecorino cheese and a nice aioli sauce. We ended up getting a second order of it. The albacore tuna crudo was a hit which was really tasty. Chili ginger relish, mint and shallot, can't go wrong with that. Lastly the meatballs, tasty and very great for sharing. Entrees, the pan seared sea bass which I loved. Portion is pretty tiny which also seemed like they were a shared plate. Almost tapas styled. Nice chimichurri sauce and a side salad. The chicken Milanese also with a side salad of arugula. Simple dish but quite tasty. One of the salads that was somewhat hyped up by the waitress but it was just a salad. Decent but nothing major to rave about...lol... also the confit oyster mushrooms was major hit. Something that simple but quite tasty. And lastly the pan con tomate, rustic sourdough with tomatoes and burrata. Tasty as well. Overall the meal was good. From there, the second round of drinks did take a long time to arrive and with then plates that we shared, trying to get someone to clear the plates was another thing. Took a long for someone to clear the table before more items came. Even when the entrees came, all the empty starter plates were still there. And if someone did clear the plates, some was still left on the table. Finishing off the night, we did have the dessert which we tried all three. As it was two of our girlfriends birthday, they brought out a little bubbly for us to celebrate with the dessert. That was quite sweet and nice. Honestly opinion with the dessert, they were just ok. Nothing major to rave about. We tried all three on the menu and they were just ok. Overall, the food was great. Service was nice and the staffs were all very friendly. It did take a while for plates to get cleared from the table and second round did take a while, but it was manageable. It was a sweet gesture with the bubbly with the dessert which was greatly appreciated. The place is nice and great for catching up. Menu is limited and portions are quite small. You would have to get a good amount for sharing. Entrees, depending on what you order is small as well. But we enjoyed ourself.
