We stopped in on the way to Dry Tortugas because we wanted something fast but hearty. Had the lobster and shaksuka kokottes, which were absolutely beautiful. My husband also had an almond croissant and all of their baked goods looked delicious. Good coffee, good service. Smaller, so get there early. 10/10. read more

Came here on a Saturday morning and it was not like busy but consistent. I was luckily sat at a table right away so I didn't have to sit at the bar tops by the door. After that the service slowed down. It took a while but finally my server came back to take my order. I ordered the Palm Breakfast. Food didn't take too long to come out, and once it did it was delish. Portion was good, I felt full but not stuffed. My only issue was the service and how slow it was. After I finished eating it took forever to get the check. Other than the service being slow the place has good food. I will definitely come back another time, I just have to make sure I don't have somewhere to be afterwards! read more

Lovely hidden gem for breakfast. I would suggest that no more than 3-4 people if you want to dine in. Our meals were hot and fresh and like no other breakfasts I've tried. We had the lobster benedict and chorizo kokotte. Highly recommend. Our servers were very kind and attentive. Tiny little bakery that delivered big on flavor! My hubby has the croissant egg and sausage sandwich which he said was wonderful and just the right amount of good, it came with a side of mixed fresh fruit. I had the avocado toast with feta and pesto, scrambled eggs cooked perfectly on crusty bread and arugula, why have I not thought of this combo before! Def will be making this at home! Such a cute spot! Its tiny, there's maybe only 5 tables inside, and a wall-bar, so don't come in big groups. My husband and I were lucky enough to grab an empty table without a wait. The food was delicious, very fresh healthy ingedients. My only issue is the portions were small so we didn't exactly fill up. I wish the plates came with potatoes or a side item. In the midst of an openly fun community, there lies a quaint, delightful coffee shop with an amazing ambiance and an even better attitude. On a port stop from a cruise, I happened upon this great coffee shop without any idea of their political leanings, a real treat in Key West. The owner, Victor, was friendly and full of information, and made the visit that much better. After having a little conversation, he asked what we ordered, I told him just the coffee. He surprised me by bringing a croissant and 4 berry compote, telling me that next time, I'll want to order more than coffee. I couldn't say no, and I'm glad I didn't. The croissants are very good, but contrary to what prior reviews say... THEY DO NOT HAVE WAFFLES!! And I clearly asked each day. Day one the server stated they ran out of mix. Day two the woman looked at me oddly when I asked if they had the waffle mix yet- she CLEARLY stated that you DO NOT have waffles. If you do, please let me know what day it's on special and I'll gladly come in to try it! Also look at the photo of the cup below... wasn't clean and later they had the audacity to say my review was inaccurate and inappropriate. Either you have waffles or you don't! Since I have an egg allergy, I CERTAINLY would NOT have returned if you'd been upfront and stated you did not have waffles. Moreover my review would not have complimented your croissants! read more

There were so many choices on the menu that I wanted to order more classic breakfast, but knowing I'd likely not have another opportunity to try the unique kokotte, I decided to go for it. Sunny Eggs 517 Fleming St., Key West, FL 33040 5 Stars This place shines brightly like the proverbial light in the darkness of a morass of tourist traps. On a side note, I accidentally jumped the service line. No one said anything, but I got a few glares. My apologies! This is a quaint little hole in the wall (literally). Vasily is the server today and nailed it in every way a server can. I ordered their Nixon Smoothie and a chorizo Kokot as I had never heard of anything Kokot before I asked my editor to do some research. He came up with a village in Poland. Other than that, it is close to the French word Cocotte and as it does involve eggs cooked in a small dutch oven (cocotte), I'm going with that. I began with the Nixon Smoothie. Named after our 37th President, Richard Milhous Nixon, it was a delicious smoothie of Apricot, Orange, Almond Milk, Yogurt, Honey and Maple Syrup. Sans 18 minutes of recorded conversation (coincidence or just good food prep? You be the judge). I have to say that this was a delight on the palate in the balmy temperatures of Key West. It was light, hearty, and crisp on the palate. Moving on to the chorizo Kokot. As previously mentioned, this was the first I had heard of this; however, looking at the pictures on the menu, I had a good idea about what it was I was ordering. I was not disappointed. This lovingly prepared dish is made of three eggs cooked in a small "kokot" with Creme Fraiche, Dijon mustard, Chorizo paste and freshly grated Parmesan cheese. Pyszny! One does not need to apply any heuristic to conclude that this is NOT a tourist trap. It is a place with GREAT food. Picked up baked goods for the plane ride home but ended up eating some before we stepped out of the cafe. So we ordered another. This is a must place to Visit while in KW for breakfast / brunch! The food was absolutely amazing! Absolutely wonderful service and when they say it's small it is. There's about 6 tables and a little window bar area but Wow! The salmon sandwich was brilliant!! I'd eat it everyday other day for rest of my life. What I expected from reviews was far superior and much larger than expected. The blend of flavors was off the chart! Beyond their routine of care and presence, they helped a customer who took a hard fall outside the cafe. Customers helped, too, but the waitstaff showed up with compassion, concern, ice and bandages. I'm sorry someone trip and fell hard, but it was wonderful to watch the care for this person and their friends. It was good. Had many kokot (cocotte ) in various places and this one was just ok. Had their Benedict version and it lacked flavor. If I closed my eyes, I would of guessed I was eating plain, slightly firm, poached eggs with the ham choice I requested. Hot coffee was luke warm. I'm local so will try them again.
