I love this little hole-in-the-wall local burger joint! The Burger Poet has a pretty simple menu. Smash burgers, hot dogs and a few sides. The place is not fancy, upscale or trendy, but the burgers and fries are awesome. We ordered at the counter, paid and waited (not too long) for our burgers. Karmen took our order and was friendly. My single OG burger had nice crispy edges that fell out of the bun. The burger was delicious with cheese, pickle and their sauce. The fries are slightly seasoned, crisp and hot. These fries are a winner. Prices are great (burger and fries are $9). There's plenty of parking in their shared lot. I counted about eight tables inside for dine-in. If you like smash burgers, I highly recommend. read more

Absolutely fantastic smash burger!! I got a double with cheese and that's exactly what it was, which was perfect for me since I'm pretty basic with what toppings I want on my burger. There are lots of different options now and the price point is exceptional for the quality and quantity. You can also order online for pick up, which is what I did and it went very smooth. It's cozy and fun inside with limited seating so I took mine to go but I liked how they decorated with the mural and made it look very local. The fries were just ok. I would skip those; but there are some other sides I'd like to try in the future like fried pickles. read more

This little restaurant has a private parking lot that it shares with the other businesses in the strip mall that it is located. The outside of the restaurant is non-descript and you can easily pass it up. It is right next to the Dollar General. They have a very small dining area with music playing throughout. They have a very simple menu that features standard smash burgers. They also have hotdogs, fries and chicken fritters. I ordered a double classic burger with fries. The woman working the counter was very friendly and helpful. It took about 10 to 15 minutes for them to prepare my food, as it is made fresh. My burger was fresh, tasty and so good. The fries were really good too. I was thinking about that meal days after I had eaten it. I will give you a tip. The burgers can get a bit sloppy, but as I mentioned, they are so, so good. I really enjoyed my meal there. I highly recommend checking this place out. You will not be disappointed. read more

Straightforward menu - not a ton of frills here - but the food is stellar. I love how the kitchen is pretty open, so if you're dining in you can see what's going on - no question about what's going on back there. The decor is far from fine dining (and the exterior is so obviously an old Family Video, it's hilarious) but I love it even more for it. The focus here is the food. What I didn't expect was the stellar service too - super friendly and helpful staff. I'd heard some high praise before visiting and I'm happy to confirm it's worthy of the hype. read more

The menu consists of burgers and dogs. The burgers are cooked fresh to order with an amazing House Sauce. The burgers are cooked to perfection with crispy edges. The buns are perfectly toasted. Burger poets burgers are 10/10, but the only reason I give it a 4 is because something is always missing from the order. Usually fries or a drink when you add the $4.24 combo to an order. That is my one and only complaint since it's happened 3/3 times we've been. Service is always good. read more

Amazing burgers! A single is enough for me. Love the fires too, seasoned well. Make sure to order a side of their house sauce for dipping. The coney dog was just ok. The coney sauce is different than expected but my hubby enjoyed. There is usually a 10-15 min wait but it's so worth it. read more

This review is fir the Shelbyville new location. I guess they assume all orders are take out. We stayed inside and our food was brought to our table in a bag no plastic wear ti eat with. I had just 4 patties only with cheese and ate them with my fingers, at least McDonalds gives you a plastic fork. The patties had no flavor they were bland, the cheese was sliced cheese like craft singles which to me isn't real cheese. Nothing special here as far as i'm concerned. Casher was nice and pleasant but seamed nervous since there was a lady in a coat on the cashier side working on a laptop. If she was the owner / manager she needed ti be in the office working not in the customer area. No desire to go back. read more

Had this on my list as I had seen great reviews in the city chat. We stopped in just after noon on a Friday and it was busy. There are a few tables and some stool seats along the wall. We ordered burgers, chili cheese dogs, and fries. The burger was good and flavorful but a little pink for my liking. Fries were crisp and I liked the toppings. The hotdog wasn't good. It was tough / overcooked and the chili had a strange flavor that I couldn't quite figure out. Slightly sweet? May come back for another try at a less busy time. read more

Stopped this afternoon, having seen all the FB posts, etc. I had the classic double cheeseburger and chili cheese fries. The chili is a sweet type, reminescent of cincinnati style chili for those wondering. Both the chili and fries were ok, not really exceptional. Now on to the burger. It was exceptional, no two ways about it. Perfectly cooked, cheese melted perfectly, the bun to meat ratio was spot on, all on point. The burger alone is 5 star. Probably top 5 in my lifelong quest for the perfect burger. I will definitely be returning, and soon. read more

Really great burger! Ask anyone and they would tell you The Grill Bar has the best burger in Franklin, but the new Burger Poet might be giving them a run for their money! The location is small and unfortunate didn't have any high chairs for my youngest. We also waited about 30 minutes for our food, but it was worth the wait! My husband and I both had a burger and added bacon...SUPER delicious. My kids had a hot dog that actually was pretty tasty as well. We all shared a couple order of fries and they were great! Overall, I think there's a few areas of improvement, but I'm looking forward to watching The Burger Poet expand and grow! read more

I've been there three times which I think is enough. Trip one was at noontime and was pretty good and the food tasted fresh and hot. Trip two was a 10 minute wait at 3pm with no other customers in the place and I ended up being served a cold burger and fries that I felt like was probably cooked at lunchtime and put in the fridge for later. Trip three was about the same, a long wait for luke warm average food. As far as the service, on my first trip the staff seemed happy, talkative, and alive, the next two they seemed uninterested in even being there. read more

The loaded fries blew me away. It reminded me of the flavors on a Big Mac but 100x better. The house sauce is fantastic.
