I was in the area for an event. I have heard the advertisement and finally got the urge to takeout from them. I decided to try the $9.79 Great Lakes perch sandwich with a regular order of $2.99 hush puppies. The server was informing me of the 14 hush puppies for $5.59, but I needed to resist all the fried food. I am giving this review 4 stars because of the perch. They had a few bones which made me concerned to eat as a sandwich. Perch tasted goo, but I wished it could be grilled with seasoning. The pickles were tangy and onions were fresh. Held the tomato. Lettuce was crisp. The bun was toasted. The hush puppies were aromatic, tasted delicious, and contained corn. Now in the front lot, free parking is limited to the weekends and during weekdays' lunch rush of 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. How unfortunate! It should be at least free after work, too. We didn't know what to expect since we wanted fresh fish/seafood and this is a market and restaurant. Wondering if it is going to be smelly? Nope, I could only smell the cooking food. It was served hot and was excellent. Many of the customers seemed to be regulars, seating is fast food vibe. We are definitely going back to try other menu items. Amazing restaurant with several locations. I went to the one at AMP in 16-Tech. I got the lobster roll and baked beans. WOW was it good. The lobster roll was very fresh and the portion of lobster was so generous. The baked beans were amazing, too. The staff was friendly and the service was very fast. The AMP is a very nice location. It's pretty much a typical food hall, and it works! In the past I've had fried catfish and fried okra, too. Both were AMAZING. The catfish was so fresh, too. Oh, it's so sad to see Ken N. visited here 2 months ago. RIP Ken :-( My oh my my smoked tuna salad sandwich had a good smoked flavor to it. I loved how it had the right consistency for tuna salad. The lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and sliced onions all worked so well together. The buns they use are baked by Corner Stone Bakery. I had a hard time choosing which side because they all sounded so good. Hush puppies, sweet corn with old bay seasoning, and fried okra with remoulade sauce were the contender's. I need to remember to get that sauce to try with them. Fried okra won and they were good and hot. They give you a nice sized sandwich and good amount of fried okra. I would definitely order it again. I'm glad they're in the AMP and if you haven't tried Caplinger's I would definitely try them. The crab cakes with remoulade sauce are so yummy, but a little pricey... market price, in fact. I would suggest getting the dinner which comes with two crab cakes and two sides and hush puppies for about $20. The cakes alone are $10 each. When you come into the AMP from the new road with all the free on street parking between Waterway Blvd and Indiana Ave, Caps is located behind the barber shop. They are right beside Mambo's. The Shrimp Po-Boy was excellent! The shrimp were a tad larger than medium size. And plentiful unlike that famous N'Awlins fast food chain. I deleted the onion and Remoulade Sauce. The sandwich comes on a toasted Hoagie roll instead of the traditional French Bread. I think this is healthier. My side order for my combo was the Red Beans and Rice which turned out to be too spicy for me. Not to worry because they have ten other quality sides to choose from next time. I totally missed the desserts AND the Gator Bites appetizer. I definitely have to come back and keep blinders on so as not to be distracted by the other food vendors. read more

Love me a lobster roll. I have been wanting a lobster roll for weeks. They've closed their Whitestown/ Zionsville location ( sad face). Tonight we were close by Amp and my husband had other choices. Not sure what happened to my previous review of this location Ib thought that this location was closet to me since the Whitestown location closed BUT I learned today that their food truck is located daily at 71st and Michigan Road!!!!! This location is inside The Amp. Street parking is scarce but there's paid parking across the street. The service was friendly like the other locations and fish is cooked to order so there's a bit of a wait. There's plenty of open seating available nearby to enjoy great piped in music while you wait. It was Monday so half of the restaurants were closed. I ordered the Caplinger Special sandwich combo with collard greens and fountain drink. The sandwich was a large piece of basa that spilled out of the delicious bun with all the toppings and cooked just right. Crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside. This place is new to the the AMP but not to Indy. It has sooo many seafood options there is something for everyone whether your presence is fried, fresh or battered. The entire ordering process and time to get your food was extremely fast. I ordered two lobster rolls for takeout and travelled all the way to broad ripple with them before eating. These actually travelled very well since they were Maine-type lobster rolls which means they are served cold and covered in mayo as opposed to hot with butter (which is actually my fave). Decided to grab Caplingers for takeout. I ordered the special with two sides. I like my fish fried hard and it was anything but that. My fish was mushy and the batter would fall off. For my sides I asked for greens and sweet potatoes. I received neither and instead got home fries. Not sure whether they were sold out or what but I would have appreciated communication on that so that I could have chose different sides of my liking. Don't get me wrong, the fish was still flavorful and their tartar sauce is unmatched for me. One of the newest places to eat inside the AMP is the latest expansion ofCaplinger's fresh catch seafood. I Was there briefly to order their special of fish and chips along with a side. My favorite side is the collard greens. It seemed the breading on the fish wasn't quite as crispy as l had desired. The breading seemed more crumby and so I rate this location lower than some of the sites. Seating is plentiful inside the AMPs food court. Cold soup, cold sandwich, yummy! stopped at the new location at AMP, amped about the new Caplinger location. my wife and I ordered clam chowder and a cheese covered seafood dish, the chowder literally was as cold as if they they scooped it from the refrigerator to the bowl (others returned it also for the same reason). the seafood dish which was intended to be served hot with melted cheese was also cold (plus I ordered it without onions and green peppers which they neglected to remove). overall easil the worst lunch that I've had in months and I eat out daily. read more

Was craving fish and chips, and found this place via Yelp. Decent fish, but imo can't compare to the fried fish at 9 Irish Brothers. The French fries (chips) were just ok. You get a plentiful portion, but found them to be a bit soft rather than crispy, and despite the buffalo seasoning, just underwhelming. The tarter sauce was an interesting change from the usual mayo and relish. This sauce was more sweet and a bit more liquidy. The cole slaw was slightly spicy and very tasty. I ordered the greens, too, and they were deliciously flavorful. I wanted the banana pudding, but was informed it isn't offered at this location. Had the pineapple bread pudding instead. Soooo good! I called ahead and ordered, and was glad I did. There was quite a line when I got there. Learned that you don't have to stand in line if you've ordered ahead.
