My friends and I had to find a late night spot to eat in Indy and we found NYC Food Mart. We did not make a mistake. Their food was made to order, high quality, and it tasted incredible. I got the chicken over rice. The chicken was moist and went well with the white & hot sauce. The staff was friendly and helpful. While the place looks underwhelming from the outside it's still clean inside. I highly recommend this hidden gem.

Amazing food. They serve the classic chicken or lamb over rice you can get at halal carts in New York. The rice was fluffy and both the lamb and chicken were tender and flavorful. It is covered in the perfect amount of sauce with plenty of seasoning. The portions are great and the order comes with a drink too. The restaurant is in a convenience store that isn't in the best location. But the owners are nice and the food is more than worth it. The food takes 10-15 min to prepare if ordering at the counter, so would recommend calling ahead for takeout. Overall a must try with unique food you won't find anywhere else in Indy.

First night in the city and found ourselves hungry in the evening. Came across this restaurant on a delivery app and decided to give it a try. Since I did not go into the restaurant, this eating is strictly for the food and attention to detail. I ordered a lamb over rice, Dorito nachos, and a Philly. I was SHOCKED at the large amount of food that arrived. It smelled and looked amazing. There was a huge portion of lamb which was really a great surprise. The nachos were packed with toppings. I made some special requests on the Philly and it was prepared just as I had asked. Everything we ordered tasted great, fresh, and made to order. I would recommend this spot to anyone!

The chicken over rice was absolutely delicious. I've been thinking about it since i had it last week! The service is quick and speedy if you call ahead & they're always quick to answer questions! It's really gives a NY deli feel and I absolutely love it. It's exactly what we've been missing here in Indy.

I was on a road trip and hungry so I stopped by this place. The inside looks like a dilapidated kiosk that you'd see on in a post apocalyptic video game. Random different cans and boxes that are most likely expired. Off brand sodas, e-cigs. The guy serving me was behind bulletproof proof glass and had a no bullshit attitude, I didn't find it off putting at all, almost charming, but definitely wouldn't say friendly. Seemed like they have to deal with a lot of difficult people judging by his demeanor. It had a lot of strikes against it, but also good reviews so I had a feeling it would come through and it really did. I got the gyro lunch special and it was one of the best gyros I've ever had: the fries were immaculate too. Also appreciated the extra touch of lemon pepper. I was going to order the chicken on rice, that seems like the thing to get and usually my favorite dish at a place like this, but was eating it in my car and figured it would get all over the damn place, not like the gyro didn't anyway, that thing was a monster. The environment is definitely not the greatest, but if this place was near me I would with out a doubt go on a regular basis and try the entire menu. I was thoroughly pleased with my meal

If you're looking for a nyc chicken and rice cart style restaurant in Indy, this place is it!!! This fulfilled my cravings of nyc street food, esp the halal carts scattered throughout the city. I got the classic chicken and lamb over rice, and it's covered in that good garlic sauce and a touch of hot sauce. There's also some lettuce and tomato on the side. They're also halal, so great option for those with dietary restrictions! I would say call ahead so the order can be ready by the time you're there. It's a grab and go style establishment, and seems to be pretty popular--there were a lot of people popping in and out of the restaurant. No problems with service, the man serving me was very kind! This place took me back to some great memories in chicago and nyc. :) I'll def come back to try some of their other items!

I was hungry and at the zoo looking for hole in the wall places to eat and came across this place with really good reviews and thought we should try it out. Me and my wife got the chicken over rice and my kids got pizza puff kids meal and chicken wing meal. The chicken over rice is bursting with flavor from the pepper ranch sauce they use with the juicy very well seasoned chicken and the rice is cooked to perfection! With all those flavors you get a fresh perfect serving of lettuce and tomato to pair with it so you can in a way wash down the taste. I could not finish my adult meal they give you a large amount of food! Each meal was $10 comes with your choice of canned pop. I dad taxed the kids and had a bite of their food. The pizza puffs are very good I would be satisfied getting this meal as an adult. An explosion of flavor in a perfectly crusty puffy wrap! My chicken wings are just the way I like them! Far from a corporate kitchen like BWW and Wingstop these are actually made fresh! The fries are perfectly crunchy outside with a warm mush on the inside. My kids loved their meals. Each kids meal costing $5 comes with fries and a juice pouch. The area it is in is kind of sketch as there was groups of people hanging out here and people asking for money but as long you mind your own and be polite no one will bother you. It is in the speedway/ haughville area. The service was fast and reliable. The inside had a rather old mini mart look to it but that fits NYC delis well! Go try it out for yourself it will not disappoint!

If you're on the fence about trying this place, please don't be! It's kinda of like a restaurant inside of connivence store. They have a ton of packaged food, snacks, drinks etc inside for purchase. You order through a window and the food took about 10-15 mins to come out. It was hot fresh and incredibly flavorful. I ended up getting the sauce on the side since I had never had it before. The meat was very tender and seasoned to perfection. The rice was light and fluffy too! And the portions were crazy! One meal is definitely enough to feed two adults in my opinion. Which is almost unheard these days for only $10!! l I will 100% be back.

The Chicken & Lamb over rice is what caught my eye today and mannn am I SO happy it did! I HAD to taste it! As SOON as I opened this box, I KNEW I found my new spot! I also ordered a pizza puff, killed it before even thinking about a picture. Sorry y'all! I'll take one next time! EVERY bite is seasoned and balancing of each other. This is seriously one of the best comfort meals I've had in awhile.

I looooove their tangerine tomato soup, falafel bowl, and taco bowl. Last week, I asked an employee which item on the menu is her favorite and she said the curry cauliflower bowl, so I ordered it. I CANNOT EXPLAIN how delicious it was. I got the tahini dressing and opted to add on pulled chicken for $5 and have not gone a day without thinking about it. The curry cauliflower bowl has: curry roasted cauliflower, golden raisins, cashews, pickled red onions, crispy chickpeas, and artisan lettuce blend. I know it sounds healthy and I don't care if you don't even like curry... you will LOVE THIS. I want it for every lunch for the rest of my life and I'm already planning my next visit to The AMP so I can get my hands on it. Order it. The only turmoil I now feel is the stress of wanting to try everything on the menu but not wanting to *not* order this bowl. Take one look at their menu and you'll be so impressed. I mean... they have an "everything bagel caesar" dressing. How delicious and creative is that? They have sandwiches, salads, warm bowls, soups, desserts, and more. Everything is colorful, fresh, and delicious. Thank you so much @Yamallama for being incredible. I saw that you now sell your bowls at Dream Palace Cafe too and I hope to see Yamallama meal options at many more coffee shops, stores, and cafes around town. I'll buy one every time I see one!!! PS: I just saw that they closed their second location in The Garage Food Hall and opened one across the street from The Children's Museum instead, so visit there or this AMP location.

It's counter service with clear menu boards on the wall, making ordering easy. I had the cheesy jalapeño grits with bacon and an egg and... my goodness. So incredibly delicious. The food just needed a little fine-tuning to really shine. The catfish seemed to have a beer-battered coating that felt a little soft and held onto some extra moisture instead of having that classic light crunch. Also, the grits lean heavy into jalapeno notes rather than a creamy, cheesy base. It's such a cute venue with great energy, and a few little kitchen adjustments could make it amazing!
