Okay... now I understand why everyone recommends this place. From the incredibly fresh sushi to the warm service, every part of the experience exceeded my expectations. I was positively overwhelmed with the amount of roll options as I was intrigued with each one! So it was great to get a few rolls and share among us. Living in China I'm glad I got to experience Asahi and Sapporo for the first time so coming to a restaurant experience where I could get that was great! Also, I tried Lucky Buddha Beer! GREAT! The restaurant is really clean, spacious and a good dine-in feel. The staff were beyond incredible with hospitality, kindness and recommendations. The only thing that I wasn't a big fan of (you won't lose a star) is the high volume when a birthday celebration begins with the music. However, seeing the JOY light up from everyone around us during both visits was a pleasure to see! 10/10 recommend and I'll definitely be back for a fourth visit! read more

If you like sushi, then don't skip on Sunny's - West. We dropped in, the kids were screaming Sushi Freak, but we hadn't tried Sunny's, so.... It was dinner time so the tables were full, and there were already folks waiting for the next available. We were lucky to all get chairs by the sushi bar. They have Pepsi products, but I settled in with a pot of hot jasmine tea. Then Larry prepped some side salads that came with shredded crab and fried salmon skin, and doused with rice wine...it was very good. He was very nice. Our server Aubrey was very attentive and got us our next course, a piping hot miso soup. Noemi enjoyed her cheese wontons. They were creamy and crispy...not at all greasy. The kids got some classics, spicy tuna and Philly roll. Liz tried this very busy, but tasty Beauty and the Beast. I tried this amazing Volcano Roll. It was sauced with some spicy volcano dripping of mayo and maybe sriracha and scallops. It was an all in all great experience and I love Sunny's. Glad it super close, and convenient. This entire area is pretty cute, especially at night! We love going on sushi dates, and while we were visiting family we decided to check this place out for dinner. I'd give it a 3.5, nothing special but we also weren't expecting much. The service was good, got seated outside and did not wait too long for our food. We ordered calamari as an appetizer. To my surprise they were a few large pieces. I can't remember which rolls we got, but you can see them on the photo attached (it's been a few months since our visit). Not gonna lie, this place wasn't my first choice. My first choice (which I'll keep to myself) had over an hour wait and we were ready to dine immediately. We called ahead and Sunny's could take us right away. A name like Sunny's doesn't really sound like a nice dining experience to me. More like donuts or sandwiches lol. But me and my love enjoyed ourselves and the service was stellar! I wish the waiters wore a name tag so I could shout him out. I could have asked. The seating was a little tighter than preferred, but we were seated at a booth and felt a TAD distant. I enjoyed my shrimp tempura rolls and my love enjoyed his chicken fried rice. They have an extensive sushi menu. Initially I thought it was all overpriced, but I was actually impressed with the portion size. The server brought out complimentary miso soup and kimchi (spicy pickled cucumber). Wasn't crazy about the miso per usual (nothing in Sunny's), but the kimchi was pretty good. I am celebrating a milestone birthday this year- I am old enough to get a Medicare card! I was wondering how a lack of festivities due to the pandemic was going to impact things. All I can say is I had a wonderful time today! A coworker took me to lunch here at Sunny's to help me celebrate and warned me to wear my elastic waist pants. The wait staff was extremely attentive; the food was plentiful and beautifully presented. I told my friend that I had never tastes salmon as fresh as what they brought out- it was buttery and melt in your mouth delicious. I am grateful to Sunny's for continuing to remain open with several options - dine in, dine outside and takeout. I should have listened to the most recent review. We sat outside and we're the first ones to arrive when opening. The tables were filthy. Sticky, crumbs, and garbage. I ordered a cucumber roll but I wanted the rice on the outside instead of the seaweed like the menu said. They said that was not possible which was weird because I always order that and have from a dozen sushi restaurants. My son ordered spicy tuna and salmon. It was not good at all. He didn't finish it. The cucumber was not good at all. The prices are way to high for this kind of quality and unclean place. Will not be back. $50 for food that was not good. read more

I had to have bloodwork done at the nearby Quest Diagnostics. I was hungry afterwards so I decided to give Sunny's Sushi a try. I did a pick up order. I placed the order on their website. I'm really glad I finally tried Sunny's! Their website was easy to use and navigate. They have 4 total locations around El Paso. The service I received when picking up my order was great! Everyone there was polite. I was also pleased that my order was ready when I arrived. Both of these are not always the case. I was happy about it! Also, all of the employees were wearing masks. The place was spotless! Dine in is offered in their outdoor patio. There's also indoor dining available. There's very few types of sushi that I like. I guess that's because I don't like seafood that much. I usually go for a California or veggie roll. I decided to go with the California roll this time. It had avocado, cucumber and crab. It was tasty and the ingredients were fresh. I love eating sushi with lots of soy sauce! Yum! My bf doesn't eat seafood so I got him a teriyaki chicken salad. It was also delicious! I got one for myself. I felt like the salad's portion was pretty good. All of the ingredients were also fresh in the salad. We will definitely return! We would also like to try their steak. Have come to Sunny's Sushi on several previous occasions and enjoyed the food greatly. Came to Sunny's on a Wednesday evening around 5:45pm with a party of 3. Got sat at a table in the middle of the restaurant. Sunny's did not seem overly packed or busy. Waited more than 15 minutes and never had a server or waiter make contact with our table. No drinks or food. Observed several tables get seated after ours with larger parties get drink and food orders taken before us. We are usually very understanding of service hiccups or issues, not sure what happened. After no contact or service for over 15 minutes we left the restaurant and took our business elsewhere. read more

A new Asian restaurant opens up on the West side. This is close to the new housing developments and West Towne Center. Most of the selections offered is sushi but there are a few other such as bulgogi, bi bim bap and chicken teriyaki. I was able to try selections from both in my party. The sushi was good, Las Vegas roll and the dragon roll. I ordered the chicken teriyaki. The alcohol selection recently added new bottles to the wine list. So there are many to pick. Service was very good for this new restaurant. The place was packed for a Thursday night since I am sure word about this place was spreading. Not sure what's going on. My wife and I go there at least three times a month and we always had good service. It's been twice, in a row now, that we just got up and left because of service. Both times we just sat there, servers passing by our table, no drink orders taken, no "I'll be right with you", nothing. So we just left. The staff just looked at us with a "huh?" look on their face. I hope this gets fixed soon because we enjoy this place. Maybe it's a batch of servers that don't like their job? It happens. That's when management needs to step in. We've had pretty much everything on the menu so the food is not the issue, it's the service that's become an issue We noticed other customers trying to wave servers down with little to no customer service.Oh, forgot to mention, both times we left due to service, the place was not even half full. We understand if it's busy but come on! As far as tipping, we are great tippers. If the service is awesome, heavy on the tip. My wife and I usually spend about $70 to $100 on dinner with a solid tip. Great sushi spot! Visiting EP for the holidays and found this place. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The sushi chef was also very nice too! We got a complimentary miso soup which was something I have not personally experienced before. Super yummy! I got a spicy hamachi hand roll (minus the spicy since I prefer plain hamachi). I also got the Sunny Special Roll (minus the jalapeño). Both delicious. My boyfriend got tomago & tuna nigiri which he loved as well. The sushi chef provided us with a complimentary salad, most likely because we sat at the sushi bar. As far as sushi goes, there are honestly more options than you'd think out here in the old western town of El Paso. This one, is one of the better ones. Yes, everywhere you go to eat sushi, assuming because of the products required to make it and make it fresh, is going to be a bit on the expensive side, and this place is no different. It is a little more expensive than I like, however, I love sushi and and as long as I can have quality sushi, I'm willing to pay what's wrong the cost. No, this is not super authentic Japanese sushi. I say that, because I lived in Japan for nearly a decade. However, I still love this place, and if you've never really lived in Japan, then it's a moot point, and you'll enjoy this place just the same. The quality is pretty good, to be honest. The products are always fresh. Keep in mind, El Paso is a land locked city in the middle of the west Texas desert, surrounded by sand, and Mexico. And we aren't exactly catching our fresh salmon for the nigiri in the Rio Grande, so for where we are, I'm rather impressed with the freshness and quality. As most sushi places are here, these rolls are more suited for the westerns palate. And you'll find all kinds of creative rolls with creative ingredients that they'd turn their noses up at in Japan, but hey, if it works it works, and this place works. They have a large menu as well. With many Japanese dishes as well as Korean dishes. Also common here in El Paso. Most Japanese places here, or sushi places, also have a large selection of Korean specific dishes. Which is fine, more to choose from! This is one of (I believe) 3 Sunnys Sushi locations in town. And by far the nicest (decor) and newest one. Visited Sunny's Sushi at 7460 on Cimarron market as my second option from originally attempting to eat at Grove Brunch Cafe and learning Grove had 1 hr 20 minutes wait. Sunnys Sushi is located immediately across from Grove Brunch Cafe. Sunny's Sushi staff sat us immediately and told us that Sunny's Sushi is somehow related/connected/owned to/by Grove Brunch Cafe and that eating at Grove's is totally worth the wait. But, at the time my patience and hunger disagreed. This was my first time at Sunnys. A good friend of mine recommended but the pandemic happened and I had not gotten around it. Well, my family and I were so happy that we ended up eating at Sunny's. All dishes tasted very good, they served generous portions, and we experienced friendly costumer service.
