Typical diner feel. It was very busy but they take your name and call or text you when your table is ready. Our waitress, Shannon, was excellent. Our food was taking a very long time but she kept us informed and let us know the kitchen was running behind. Prices are decent but I have to admit, my steak and cheese sandwich fell flat. There was hardly any meat or cheese. The bread was good though. My friend had the pancake combo. She did not like the bacon. The pancakes are HUGE and heavy. She had a coffee to drink and I had the Uncle Sam Irish coffee. The flavor was perfect and just a hint of bourbon. Park on the street or in a garage. They do not have their own parking lot and you will get towed if you park in the one beside the building. Overall, slightly disappointed in the food but Shannon was fabulous.

Yumtastic!! The cafe is real homey and smells absolutely divine. Our waitress, Erica was super helpful and one of the most attentive servers we have had in a long time. Our breakfast was yummilicious! My husband had the Sunnyside supreme omelet. It is the best omelet I have ever tasted, hands down!! And yes, I said my husband ordered it. lol So, we will be back to Sunnyside Cafe before me leave VA so I can order it and have all to myself! I have a the French toast combo with GF bread. So so yummy!! The beat GF French toast I ever had! We left the cafe super full and equally satisfied. A VA beach stop EVERYTIME now.

The servers at Sunnyside Cafe made me totally remember how it was in the past at your local diner. They knew your coffee, your favorite, and they did it with a smile. The flower petal shaped waffles is a genius shape for proper measured bites. The corned beef hash was made from Brisket and not canned meat. This again..genius! Most establishments don't take time to make this side dish better. Sunnyside did! The Sunnyside is the smartest on the strip in knowing what people like.

This is your typical all-American diner, serving traditional American breakfast, lunch, and dinner classics. I visited a couple times while in Virginia Beach. On one occasion, I dined in with family. I returned the following morning, but for a to-go order. Both visits were breakfast food experiences. The dine-in experience was very good. The customer service was very good and the food was good. In my opinion the food is comparable to other diners in the surrounding area of Atlantic Avenue with regard to quality and portion size. This restaurant is a good option for early morning breakfast and they accommodate large groups. They experience a rush during peak breakfast hours, so plan accordingly or consider making reservations if you can. I'll visit again when in the area. Given them a try.

Had the opportunity to visit this place while on vacation. The customer service was a bit wonky honestly but we tried not to let it bother us too bad. We had a party of 7 & they seated us at a table for 6 & kept hinting that we needed to rearrange our seating so the fire code wasn't violated. However, after they realized that there was no room for us to rearrange & that our seating was their fault, they let it go & then moved us to a different table with more space. The seating is very compact & the inside is noisy & busy. (The noise didn't bother us, but if you're looking for a quiet/cozy breakfast spot then keep searching.) The food was REALLY good! Nice sized portions & flavorful. ‼ Things to know ‼ 1. Prepare to wait a bit especially if you're visiting on the weekends. 2. If you're on the waitlist, please pay attention to the time they TEXT you & tell you that your table is ready. They will only hold your table for 5 minutes! 3. If you have a large party, decide who is paying BEFORE you dine. They do not allow separate checks & they will only split the bill in half. (They do have this posted on the front door, but if you go during a busy time you WILL miss it due to the foot traffic -because we surely did!) 4. You will have to pay for parking unless you walk there! There is a parking lot located in the back of the building. Were there for maybe 1.5-2h & paid about $9. --- Park BEFORE you get on the waitlist! We were told there was a 20min wait & so we thought we had time to find parking. We received a "table ready" text 3min after joining the waitlist & almost lost our table due to the "5min table hold" policy.

It was a beautiful day in Virginia Beach at the Ocean Front yesterday. It was sunny, there was light breeze, the air was cool, and it was not too humid. It was a wonderful day to go get some breakfast at the Sunnyside Cafe and Restaurant. This was my first time eating here and the whole experience was wonderful. The first thing I noticed as was how clean the floor, tables and chairs were. The staff greeted my date and I and led us to our table. The waitress also greeted us and gave us menus. She seemed like she enjoyed her job. I ordered the Sampler B. The sampler consists of two eggs With crispy bacon, pork sausage (links or patty), two buttermilk pancakes & half Belgian waffle. I chose the patties instead of links.I also modified my order by adding an extra egg, adding cheese to my eggs, and adding extra pork sausage patties. The drinks were coffee and a cup of water. The taste of the food was amazing. The eggs were fluffy, fresh, and melted in my mouth. The waffle and pancakes with the syrup I added was so delicious, light, and sweet that I could have floated in the air in delight. The patties and bacon were tasty and good. My drinks stayed full. My date enjoyed her food and experience also. The atmosphere was relaxing. There were other customers in the dinning area being served by several waitresses. The restaurant seemed well staffed. The entire experience was wonderful. If you are on the Ocean Front looking for breakfast give Sunnyside a chance. Thank you to the staff and management there.

Stuffed French toast not worth it and nasty

I'm disappointed, this place has a lot of good reviews but it's not great and it is costly, the stuffed French toast with creamcheese was a. Little overdone and burnt with regular cream cheese spooned into the middle not even spread or anything just horrible!!! The Canadian bacon is nasty taste chunky like ham!! Forgot ketchup in the bag! I got my food to go! They charge for to go boxes and silverware smh!!!

One piece of advice: arrive a little before Happy Hour begins at 3:00 p.m. If you wait until then, you'll likely find yourself several people deep in line. Don't let that discourage you. Embrace it, because once you're seated you'll quickly discover that the wait was well worth it. The food is delicious, the portions are generous, and the prices--especially during Happy Hour--are outstanding. The Atlantic specializes in oysters, and their Happy Hour runs daily from 3:00-6:00 p.m., including weekends. We began with a Chopped Caesar Salad ($9). Every ingredient was crisp, fresh, and flavorful--a simple dish executed exactly as it should be. Next came the oysters: a dozen Rockefeller and a dozen Pacific. The Rockefeller oysters were everything you would expect from this classic preparation--rich, savory, and baked beautifully. The Pacific oysters, however, completely stole the show. Each oyster was topped with a delicious combination of chorizo sausage, pepper jack cheese, and seasonings before being baked to perfection. They were bold, flavorful, and easily my favorite item of the afternoon. I also ordered the Double Stack Cheeseburger ($7), and what a terrific value. The burger arrived piping hot, loaded with melted cheese, and accompanied by a generous serving of crispy fries. It's hard to imagine finding a better burger at that price anywhere along the Oceanfront. My wife ordered the pork, shrimp, and kimchi dumplings served with a chili crunch and ponzu sauce that tied the entire dish together beautifully. She jokingly threatened to drink the remaining sauce after finishing the dumplings (she didn't), but she did convince me to dip one of my fries into it. She was absolutely right--it was fantastic. In fact, I now regret turning down the dumpling she generously offered me. Part of the fun of dining here is watching Shuck-Master Slim work. He's not only remarkably skilled but entertaining as well, adding a little personality to an already enjoyable experience. From the fresh seafood to the outstanding value and friendly atmosphere, this was another memorable visit to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. If you haven't been to The Atlantic on Pacific, I highly recommend adding it to your list. You'll be glad you did, and you can rest assured that you're helping support one of our outstanding local restaurants.

She had always wanted to try it, it had a happy hour menu with food and drinks, so why not. We parked, walked the few feet over, got seated outside, and waited. Our waitress, Taya, was an absolute gem. Only 2 months working there and she was in her element for us. It was quite humid outside but it wasnt uncomfortable. The inside though was big and spacious (the big wall of Makers Mark alcohol bottles was quite a site to see). Now onto the food and drinks: For drinks I ordered their Catch 31 Orange Crush (delicious) and they went out of their way to prepare me a Irish Car Bomb (shot of Baileys Irish Cream in a pint of Guinness) the best they could and it worked out beautifully. My wife just had her favorite Blue Moon on tap and she had no complaints. For food we ordered a Buffalo Mac and Cheese (wife), The Mack (me) and coconut shrimp (share). The Mac and cheese my wife had blew her mind. The couple bites I took I could see why. The buffalo chicken on top was melt in your mouth tender and the cheese sauce balanced the spice out nicely. The Mack I had was a double cheeseburger with thousand island dressing, lettuce, onions, tomato, and pickles. I've mentioned the best burger I've ever had came from Smashed RVA but now it has competition in this one. It was fresh, juicy, and the toasted bun made it all come together. So good in fact I ordered a second one to go. Speaking of... The coconut shrimp we shared was so tender and the sweet chili dipping sauce would make your eyes pop out your head. It was spot on cooked, nice golden brown color, and very flavorful. My wife doesn't even like spicy food or coconut even but even she said she loved all of it. We got a second order of the shrimp to take home too. I talked to the manager on duty, named William, and told him my feelings and thanked him for a wonderful experience and meal and that we would definitely be back again. I can't speak for the people who gave this place negative feedback but I can say for my wife and I we had zero issues with the service, staff, and food.

Everything was good, though our other table ended up being ready way faster than expected, so we had to take most of it to go. One small PSA: the menu calls them "jumbo" quail eggs, but quail eggs are tiny creatures of nature to begin with, so don't walk in expecting chicken egg-sized deviled eggs.

The fries are seasoned, very crispy and came with the burger which I liked. They had a great line up of burgers, I'd love to try another. The Knockout burger was fantastic, but the Cowboy burger on texas toast sounded great as well. You'll quickly leave the 17 to 20 dollar range if you leave sandwiches, but the service, the portions, and the quality make it worth a treat. Kudos to the wait staff. We did wait a bit for our food but as soon as we sat down someone greeted us and gave us water! Thank you. Our waiter was very nice, not very professional though, like we were talking like we're besties. She really did love her job and was talking everyone up. We love the positive vibes queen. We just weren't having a good day. No fault to her. The food was alright - the fries were not it. We skipped them BUT the nachos 10/10, we had for an appetizer. Got a burger - bacon very overcooked and very greasy but the taste was good. The menu stated the burger came with grilled onions but our server specifically said they don't usually do that? Okay. Said she didn't want the cooks to get mad and yell at her cause it took extra time so we couldn't get that. That really kinda pissed me off. Fried fish was hot and good - tartar sauce was not good but that cocktail sauce 10/10.
