Burgers , fries and onion rings!

Great burgers! The place was busy! The place was clean and had good service. We arrived before closing and the place was still full.

The Smelvinator!! Add jalapeños and bring a friend. It's HUGE and DELICIOUS!! I've driven by everyday going to work. There is usually a line starting before 8am. So glad I finally stopped to try it!!

Phenomenal food with GIANT portions, great service, and a cozy diner vibe. So many great sounding things on the menu it made it very hard to choose but makes the choice easy to go back for more. Do yourself a favor and eat here... I highly recommend the smelvin and add gravy...

    Breakfast burger - oh my!

We've been meaning to try this place for years - like since it opened. We just got around to it and had a great breakfast/brunch. First off, I feel like the portions are enormous. It's not a "cheap" greasy spoon type diner, but it's a very good one and worth the price (in my opinion). We ordered the followed: The Melvin (small - to share with 2 people) Pancakes (to share) Breakfast burger Omelette with Goetta (comes with home fries and toast) The food is simple, but tasty. The Smelvin was so good. It has all the meats and is tossed with scrambled eggs and home fries. It was very good and even better with hot sauce on top. The pancakes were light and fluffy - just like I enjoy them. We shared them so we could all enjoy a bit of "sweet" with out meal. The breakfast burger was enormous. It would easily be 2, maybe 3 meals for a person. I can't get over how large it was and it was piled with breakfast toppings - tons of them. The omelette was generously filled with meat and was larger than I expected giving it just had meat and cheese in it. My husband had no problem crushing it. This place is busy. There's only 2-3 servers for the whole place and despite how small it is, they pack in tables and seating. If you come at a peak time - 11am - 12pm - expect to wait a bit. But it's worth the wait and usually it's only like 15 minutes. Table move quickly in here. If you like your coffee piping hot, you will appreciate this coffee. Someone walks around periodically refilling mugs too which is nice. A couple of things that kept me from giving 5 stars. We asked for waffle fries with it, but got regular fries. They were so busy though that we never got a chance to get it corrected. They forgot our toast and we had to request it and I had ordered jalapeños, but by the time the server remembered to bring them, I was finished eating. No biggie, but it's the little things. This place is no frills. The staff works VERY hard and they are friendly. It's a simple restaurant that serves quality food. I would definitely come back.

Goetta omelette. (Well what's left of it!)

Service was good, food was great! Highly recommend. It's a fun little joint! If you don't like community seating don't go when it's busy.

I really like this place because it's home like and the food is great. It's not fancy but it has the diner feel.

What a darling place! We were looking for a place to eat that was heading towards Indianapolis and…read morefound this restaurant. Hubs is from Germany so we thought we would give it a try. The restaurant sits on the Miami river which was very picturesque. They had a bier garden complete with a stage for live performances. We were waited on quickly and they carried Warsteiner, which we enjoyed! We had a friendly and efficient server. The first item we ordered was the Bavarian pretzel with bier cheese. The pretzel was a decent size and tasty. The bier cheese, however, missed the mark for me. It didn't even resemble any beer cheese I ever had. And unfortunately, I ordered my broccoli with that cheese! My husband ordered the Kaiser burger--which sounded substantial and delicious. And I ordered the Mettwurst and sauerkraut. The portion sizes were great! But let me just say--they are no Hofbräuhaus! Not at all! Not even close. The only thing I managed to eat was the Mettwurst and only a few bites and it wasn't that great. And then the potato pancakes? They were cold and tasted like they were fried in old oil. We were starving and disappointed. But coupled with fatigue we were just happy to have eaten and gotten on our way home. The restaurant was pretty packed by the time we left. And people seemed to be enjoying their food. So we may try it one more time--especially because the venue was very German inspired. Our bill came to about 100 with tip. Wished I could have given a better review--sorry!

We ate at the bar and were served by Jocelyn who was most amiable and helpful. She's been there 14 years and I learned the establishment is 2nd generation family owned, over 40 years in business. There are several small cozy dining rooms for larger groups, a main dining room, plus outdoor seating. The pork schnitzel was delectable, pounded thin, tender, right amount of breading, and the amazing schwine sauce on top which is apple cider vinegar based, perfect sweet/sour mix. Also on top comes bits of thick chewy bacon, and nice big slices of well cooked onion. It's a master dish. After I chose it, my husband ordered the same thing and we both loved the meal. The potato pancake is real German style, very dense but nicely seasoned. Add sour cream. They had 10 beers on tap and numerous bottled options. Full bar. Not a lot of wine choices but that is not a concern of mine. The atmosphere just screams BEER to me. Or, more accurately, BIER. I had a pint of Shiner Shandy which was cold and citrusy and perfect. We would gladly return, hopefully on a sunny day and take that beer outside!

With the exception of sitting at the bad, I've had one thing in common with every experience: bland customer service. It feels like every time I've sat at a table and had a server, they aren't all that friendly and always seemed rushed. Outside of that, the food is always consistent and great value. I wasn't as pleased with the wings, but everything else I've had I would order again. The goetta quesadilla is on point! These pulled pork nachos were also super great! If you enjoy a good sports bar, this is your spot. They stay busy, so they must be doing something right.

The biggest issue was getting the attention of a server. Even after we placed our order she was hard to find. Especially when we wanted the check. The food was decent, not spectacular, but above average for a sports bar. We were on the west side to see a very limited release movie down the street. Look for my review of Cinemark West if you want the skinny on that experience. I mention this as I wouldn't make a special trip. One humorous note... Their website suggests a great skyline view. Well, the view is of the Skyline Chili at the bottom of the parking lot. Lol
