While in Florida, my wife was driving near Apollo Beach in her Land Rover Evoke when it lost power and would not go over 25 mph. Being stranded on the side of I75 she looked on her phone and found Sunpoint Automotive. She called and they said they could not only tow it in but could also repair it. We paid them $3,211.09 for them to diagnose and replace the turbo charger they said had failed. Once they were finished a month later it was driven 1,310 miles when it had the same thing happen. Now, home in Indianapolis we then took it to our local Land Rover dealer Tom Wood Land Rover. Upon inspection they notified us that it had the same code and needed the same repair. When we shared with them our paperwork from Sunpoint Automotive showing they had just replaced the Turbo with a new Turbo Assembly, Tom Wood Land Rover stated: "UPON INSPECTION, VISUAL EVIDENCE SHOWS TURBOCHARGER HAS NOT BEEN REPLACED RECENTLY. RUST/CORROSION ON BOLTS PRESENT HAS NOT BEEN DISTURBED. GASKETS LEAKING AND APPEAR ORIGINAL". After 7 attempts via phone, email and in person when in Florida we were never able to talk to the owner or get any resolution even though their paperwork states repairs made are covered by a 12 month warranty. We since filed a law suit with the County Court of Hillsborough County, Civil Division where the Judge granted Sunpoint Automotive was Guilty. The next step is for us to get payment through the Court system from Sunpoint for the $3,211.09 they totally scammed us out of plus $300 in court costs. Anyone reading this do everyone a favor and share this story with everyone you know so companies like this are not in business to take advantage of people in need. This is 100% a case of a shop taking total advantage of a woman broken down 1,000 miles away from home and not knowing what to do. No shame at all. On my Google Review I was able to upload photos you can look at to decide for yourself if the photos of the turbo removed and exhaust gasket look like they are months old with 1,310 miles. Or do they look like typical parts of a 2014, 7 year old vehicle with pitted rust that takes years to develop. I also posted the Tom Wood Land Rover paperwork showing the Turbo was never removed and appeared original to the vehicle. read more

Steer clear of this accident of a tow company! Showed up after 2 hrs just to say they couldn't tow the truck because it was to big, even after dispatch was given the vehicle description. Driver said vehicle weighed to much even though his truck was rated for 18,000lbs and truck only weighed 7500 lbs. after I pointed that out he then changed his tune and said he had received a call from the sheriffs department and that took priority and then he drove off. Mean while they were also suppose to send a service truck to assist with the trailer that was being towed and he never showed up either. Tow truck driver said service truck driver was busy on AAA calls and they took priority. Case in point don't count on these guys if your on the side of the road! read more

WARNING! Do not take your car to Sunpoint Automotive. NOTE: They are NOT AAA rated even though they tow for AAA. They are NOT AAA rated mechanics. The fact that they have the AAA logo on their truck is very deceiving. Took my car to Sunpoint. Actually had it towed there since they are the AAA's towing contractor. They told me they would fix the problem and it would cost $446.00. They did not fix the problem. The car went a whopping 65 miles before it stopped working and had to be towed again. They told me that the diagnosis was what the computer said was wrong, however, they did not and would not give me an engine code to verify this. According to other mechanics I have since spoken to, they are obligated to give the consumer any and all information regarding the work. Sunpoint avoids this by not returning phone calls. They refused to refund my money. However, I did put it on a credit card and have disputed the amount with my cc company. So what can you do? Wait, this is not a rhetorical question. If you have had problems with Sunpoint in the past, you can file a complaint with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, which regulated and licenses auto mechanics.
