This Sunright Tea Studio is located in old town Pasadena, specifically 2 doors down from Cheesecake Factory. Since we were in the area, my husband, our little girl dog and I decided to order our drinks online and then just pick up in store. Although this is our first time visiting this location, we are no stranger to Sunright in general and typically have had positive experiences with their drinks. We ended up ordering: Mango Jasmine Tea, $6.25- I ordered this drink for my husband to be made with no ice and 50% sweetener. This drink was too sweet. It tasted like it was made with 100% sweetness. Matcha Latte w/ Pistachio Cheese Foam, $6.95- I ordered this drink for myself to be made with less ice (as no ice was no ice was not an option) and 25% sweetener. This drink was also very sweet and so I ended up added hot water to it when I got home to dilute the sweetness. --------------------------------- (Total= $13.20, tax included) After ordering, I had received a text message within 8 minutes letting me know that my order was ready. I was rather disappointed with my order and so was my husband. Although the flavor of the tea drinks itself was fine, the level of sweetness was just too sweet for us. I am not sure if the employee had just given us 100% sweetness or not, but this isn't typical of our experience at other locations, including Arcadia and San Gabriel. I hope this was just a one time error and that it doesn't happen again. Never been to this place before, but my partner had a hankering for boba. My partner found this spot on DoorDash and thought we would try it out. We ordered for pickup for 1 Thai Tea with boba. My partner loved it; the amount of boba they put in was a great ratio to Thai Tea. It wasn't overly sweet like some other spots we have tried. I tried 2 different drinks because I don't like ordering the same thing every time. I tried the strawberry slushie. I enjoyed it very much the strawberry flavoring didn't taste like chemicals like some places make it. It was perfect for a hot summer day. The next drink I tried was the mango jasmine tea which I thought was delicious. It had the perfect mango flavoring that wasn't overly powerful as you can still taste the jasmine and tea. Only gripe I have is the location. They are in prime time real estate on Colorado. Which makes parking more difficult as you can't pop in and pop out with to go orders. The employees were extremely friendly and apologetic about how difficult it was to find it when you try to park. It's a dainty store located in Old Town Pasadena. Street parking is hard to find when it's busy but not impossible. There are lots of parking lots everywhere but may cost you a few bucks. I've been able to enjoy coming here a few times when visiting Old Town Pasadena. It's funny how it integrates so well at times you can easily slip by. But similar to a wizard's tent in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, the insides are much bigger than the exterior showcases. Inside, the height of the ceilings give an openness to the space. Indeed, no tables or chairs are inside. Instead, a long bench runs from one end of the wall to the counter. Across it are the touchscreens utilized for ordering your drinks. As the menu isn't massive in selections it means you can enjoy the pretty pictures and possible fruity drinks associated with them. In fact, the whole color scheme of this place falls in line with the sun: yellows and oranges. The drinks also run the gamut of sweetness. When ordering a drink it gives you the option of how sweet you want it to be. If you like very sweet drinks keep it at 100%. If you like yours somewhat sweet, the 50%-75% is probably best. If you like it sweet, but not too sweet than 25% is your jam. I'm a big fan of mango and they use a sweet puree style for their slushes and though their mango jasmine tea might not have mango bits, at 100% you are tasting the sweetest mango there ever was slapping you across the mouth with intensity. There are several different places to grab drinks and walk around Colorado Blvd in Old Town but I think few are quite as easy and affordable than Sunright Tea Studio. So grab yourself a sweet tea, fall into the California sunset, and enjoy your stroll through Old Town. read more

Sunright is just alright! I don't think the hype of a few years ago is apt but it is a solid spot for boba and they have so many locations now that it's quite convenient to get this. My money saving hack is ordering a $4.95 small drink from the kids menu, where they have orange yakult, strawberry tornado, hokkaido milk tea, and one other option thats slipping my mind right now. My go to is the strawberry kids drink which comes with boba but weirdly asks you to choose between "less ice" and "no ice" which is markedly strange for a blended drink. My current favorite is the Kafka collab drink, an elevated blueberry smoothie with jasmine green tea grass jelly. The mango green milk tea is also really good if it's not warm enough for a frostie. l'd recommend ordering online for pickup to skip the line. You can also mostly ignore the estimated pickup time, as sometimes the store is basically empty and your drink is instantly ready, while other times the location is packed and it'll be 10-15 minutes later than promised. The tea itself is quite clear and fragrant, and the boba is chewy and well-cooked, and sweet too (but perhaps only as sweet as the sugar it's coated in). However, the drinks have a sort of aftertaste that's common among boba joints (it might have something to do with the sweetener or the boba itself)... Regardless, the tea itself is great, and I love Sunright's selection and honey boba (which is crystal boba, but not the agar kind)! I like boba and I ignorantly thought all boba was created equal until I had Sunright for the first time. Boy was I wrong this place is a gem! The menu is simple, but the taste is very much quality. The boba is soft and subtle in sweetness and you can customize your level of sweetness which I appreciate because it makes the experience more enjoyable in my opinion. The Crème brûlée pudding they have is AMAZING a must when trying this place.
