We came in on a Friday around 9:40am as a family of 5 with three small children and were seated right away. Someone even brought over a highchair for us, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, that was the last interaction we had with anyone for the next 15 minutes. No one came to our table at all -- no waters, no greeting, not even a quick "we'll be right with you." Meanwhile, tables seated after us were getting prompt service. I even tried waving someone down with no luck. As any parent knows, sitting in a restaurant waiting with small children for that long without even being acknowledged is frustrating. My husband previously had a bad experience at the Johns Island location, and this visit was supposed to be the redemption attempt. Sadly, it only reinforced his opinion. My Dr visit this morning said my blood pressure is good and cholesterol is down 70 points from 161 to 90 in 6 months with just fish oil, so I deserved a treat. I found out this place existed about a month ago and hadn't tried it yet, so today was the day. We walked in and were promptly greeted by a chipper hostess tucked in on the left, and her peppy attitude was a welcoming surprise as I didn't see the stand there. She seated us in a nook by the kitchen in a setup that had a small booth and a chair, as we were a party of 2. I took the chair, so hubby had to sit with my purse. Not a problem. The atmosphere was upbeat and inviting, with cool light rock playing at a reasonable volume and happy diners in the spacious main seating area. Some kind of ruckus was going on in the kitchen, we guessed major coffee grindage, industrial batter mixing, or minor carpentry, but it wasn't crazy loud and the staff didn't seem bothered. Since I looked new, someone asked if it was our first time and I said yes, and she said, "The coffee bar is self-service", which was all I needed to hear. The coffees I tried were all excellent. The Jamaican Me Crazy was smooth and bold, the Sunrise House was light and tangy, the Solo Colombio was rich and not bitter, and the Dark Roast had that oomph. I mixed the Jamaican and Colombian and added a little half-and-half and sugar because I deserved a treat. They roast their own beans here, so I ended up buying a bag of the Jamaican beans to take home. Full pounds, not those 12-ouncers people keep trying to pass off. The coffees are non-flavored, which earned my immediate respect. The coffee bar comes complete with almond milk, half-and-half, all the sweetener options, plus several flavored syrups including Chocolate-Hazelnut and French Toast. I didn't know it was $4, but I drank 4 cups, so it was definitely worth the price of admission. Our server was Valentino, sporting some sparkly bling and an even brighter smile, and he was attentive, informative, and hustling himself without making us feel rushed. We ordered and enjoyed our coffee and the music. Food arrived quickly and was beautiful. Hubby chopped up his perfect eggs before I could take a picture but I did anyway. Yummy Bistro Eggs Benedict for me, with huge slabs of ham, fresh spinach, and halved grape tomatoes. I saw someone complain in their review that these veggies were not cooked on their Benedict, and yeah, that's intentional. The fresh veggies bring necessary acidity and earthiness to counter the salty ham, luxurious sunny-side-up eggs, and creamy Hollandaise, adding brightness and contrast to a meal that could have otherwise been overly rich. Hubby's chicken-fried steak was excellent. A real cut of steak, not a ground beef patty. The sausage gravy put the SAGE in sausage, which was a perfect foil for the steak. Such a hearty meal, I brought half home for later. This is a hidden gem in plain sight on St. James, where St. James' Place was forever. I am thrilled to have them so close to home, and will definitely be back to treat myself again. Great food, great coffee, great people, great music. You can't beat that. read more

I'm sorry it's taken me a week to write this post, but health issues aside it's here now. We had the privilege to stop in and dine at the creeks newest breakfast spot the Sunrise Bistro on St. James in Goose Creek. We walked in and were greeted immediately by more than one staff member and promptly seated at our table. We were told of the daily specials in detail. We could not have asked for a better waitress, the food was brought to us in a very timely fashion and to say it was delicious would be an understatement. The Restaurant has a great vibe to it. And they also offer a very nice patio area to enjoy your food as well. If you have not given this place a chance yet, run don't walk and you might even see us there again. We can't wait. Many of the restaurants could benefit from learning how to treat customers from the Sunrise Bistro. We will definitely be returning there very soon. read more

First time going since it opened. Service was great, had Kylie as my waitress. She was attentive and dint wait long for assistance and my food. Food came out hot and fresh! Ordered French toast with fresh strawberries (you can also opt for blueberries or blackberries or a mix of all of them!), sausage patties and scrambled eggs. First time trying this Sunrise. We had the veggies and savory crepes. The portions were big and the crepes were delicious. Our server Valentino was friendly and attentive . It was late morning on a Tuesday, so they were not overly busy. The tables are not crowded and the music in the background is oldies. This was a very disappointing experience. When we arrived, there were about two parties behind us and we were told the wait time would be 20 minutes. We agreed to wait. After 30 minutes, we were still not seated, even though we noticed several customers had finished their meals and left during that time. The waitress continued walking past us without acknowledging the extended delay. When we mentioned that it had been 30 minutes, she stated that she still could not seat us. I then requested to speak with a manager. The waitress at the bar informed me that the manager -- who is also the owner and the cook -- was unavailable to speak with me. She then said, with a hostile tone, "I don't know if you know, but we've only been here three weeks." She also mentioned that she had told another waitress to help bus tables. I explained that the main issue was not just the wait, but that the waiting patrons were not being properly acknowledged or updated. Her response was, "Well, we're not able to take you all right now." At that point, we decided to go to another restaurant. While we understand that new businesses may experience challenges, the lack of communication and poor customer service were extremely disappointing. read more
