Huevos Al Gusto - A La Mexicana
    Larry Y.

This is the first time I have been to a Rise and Shine restaurant and was not disappointed. This is their second location, I believe, after their first one located on Ashley Phosphate Road. Food: They have a large variety of mainly breakfast items including omelets, pancakes, French toast, crepes, sandwiches, breakfast combos, and even a section they called "international menu" which offers various Spanish influenced dishes such as the Huevos al gusto, Enchiladas Suizas, Care Asada, Huevos Rancheros, and much more. I ordered Huevos al gusto (with a coffee), which comes with 4 eggs, beans, and a side of tortillas. You get to pick how you would like your eggs, either a la mexicana, con chorizo, or con jamon. I picked the "A la mexicana" style, which includes jalapenos and tomatoes in a scrambled eggs style. Other members ordered the Birria Burrito, House Combo, and more. Service: We had an excellent waitress, and she was very attentive, courteous, nice, and professional. She always made sure our drinks were topped off, coffee refilled, and even gave one of my kids a small, cute Jesus' figure to go with her hot chocolate. We dined in on December 6th, and they were playing Christmas music which the family loved. My dish didn't' come with any salsa so I asked and she brought me a green "medium" salsa since she was out of the hot salsa according to her. Ambiance: I believe this building was a Mexican restaurant in the past and everything seemed very clean. The tables were clean, floors clean, and bathrooms were clean according to some of our party members. During the meal, we saw workers cleaning the tables and floors so that they proved their cleanliness. Overall: I would give them a try again and will try their custom breakfast entrée where you get two eggs, a choice of meat, potatoes, and a choice of either a crepe, pancake, or waffles (I believe). I will try them again soon.

French toast and pancake, not made to order, and served cold enough that even the whipped butter didn't melt. Ugh.

First, the good: our waitress was very attentive and sincere. The food? Mixed. Our eggs toast, grits, and hash browns were good. Our bacon was tough, and not hot. It seems it had been made much earlier. The homemade hot sauce was spicy and excellent. The French toast and pancake were unacceptably cool, their whipped butter didn't even melt. I think our breakfast was not cooked to order, a travesty in my book. The interior appearance is a bit strange, and maybe the decor is evolving. But now it seems like an ex nail salon, not a breakfast place. The bad? The place was very poorly managed, as if no one cared. The front entry way and seating area had food on the floor, spots of spilled whatever, and a yellow caution cone. We arrived, walked over the dirty floor and past 3 or 4 staffers at the counter, rolling silverware into napkins. Hey! Clean the floor first before doing your side work! We had a leisurely meal, nearly an hour, and we walked over the same mess in the way out. As we exited, in another aisle, there was a pile of dirt, food, and napkins where someone had started sweeping up, and then left to do something else, leaving the pile in the middle of the aisle, visible to all that were eating. Really disgusting, and completely unnecessary. One of the staffers was eating their breakfast in a corner of the counter area. Of the 6 restaurants I've worked in, when we got a meal perk, we always had to eat out of sight of the customers - in a break room or such. In this locale, there was a back dining room that was empty, and several staffers were hanging out in there. Why not eat in there too? Not a good look to have employees hanging around and eating when the place is so desperately in need of attention. I don't fault the clueless workers. Since the place only had several customers, they outnumbered us, and should've been on top of the cleanliness. But the management was absent, and clearly had not trained the staff, and is not paying attention. Why would we come back? There are much better options with a mile or so.

This was one of my favorite breakfasts I've had in a while. The Chilaquiles were literally soooo good. The quality and quantity for the price was .

Excellent food, wonderful service. All they need is to add biscuits and gravy to be perfect.

We actually stumbled upon Luxe Bar & Bistro while planning to head downtown, but a bridge closure caused major traffic, so we decided to change plans and just find somewhere local to enjoy a holiday cocktail. After checking reviews online, Luxe Bar & Bistro stood out, so we decided to give it a try -- and we're so glad we did. They have a large outdoor space, but of course, it started to rain as soon as we arrived. Luckily, they also have a covered front patio with a few chairs, which worked out perfectly. We each ordered two cocktails. I started with Under the Mistletoe -- Tito's, house-made rosemary simple syrup, lemon juice, topped with soda ($10). This was hands down the most delicious holiday drink I've had so far this season. It was refreshing, perfectly balanced, and hit the spot. I also tried the seasonal special, a Pomegranate Cranberry Sangria ($10), which was equally good. My husband ordered the Tipsy Grinch-- Malibu rum, mango purée, blue curaçao, pineapple juice, and soda water ($9.50). He said it was sweet but not overly sweet and really enjoyed it. He also had the Dirty Snowman Martini with RumChata, Disaronno Amaretto, vanilla vodka, and a cinnamon sugar rim ($13). He substituted almond milk for the half-and-half, and it was still creamy and delicious. We also had a great conversation with Natalie and quickly realized we had a lot in common, especially when it comes to dogs and the importance of pet safety. I always love meeting a fellow dog mom who shares the same values. The service and ambiance were excellent, and the space was beautifully decorated for Christmas. We will 100% be back -- and next time, we definitely plan on trying the food.

I got the Woodstock drip coffee (I let the barista pick based on my preference for low acidity coffee), the Turkey C sandwich, my son got the banana bread and a PSL, my daughter's got a chai and blueberry muffins. My kids loved their treats and drinks, admittedly they are an easy audience. I enjoyed my coffee, as hoped for it was smooth a law acid, despite drinking it black. The sandwich was absolutely outstanding. Bacon was thick and smoky, the roll had just the right "squish" and "chewiness" of a good hard roll, and it wasn't greasy or sloppy at all, which is exactly why I picked it. The Mediterranean salad was not quite what I expected, I thought it would involve black olives and feta cheese, but it had neither, and I appreciated that it was different and not too oily. The food prices feel a touch high but if you look at the quality of the food, and their use of premium ingredients, it is reasonable for what you get. Staff was friendly and good came out fast. There is a long table for bigger groups and small tables for up to four to sit. In general, Summerville has been mostly misses for me on food, but I like Coastal Coffee and would return if I was in the area and wanting a bite or a brew. J.Ja

That means location, customer service, quality product needs to be on point or someone else will do it better. Does Seven Brew meet all of the qualifications? Well, it meets a couple but I'll let you all be the judge. Located in a safe yet a challenging location to access during busy hours, I thought Seven Brew would have more cars lined up compared to other facilities I've tried in other states. However I'm not complaining as I was able to zip in and out; thus getting my large cup of coffee rather quickly. My first visit in SC, I modified their hot Sweet & Salty creation. Man, it was good! A medium roasted blend with a salted caramel and white chocolate breve but I added an extra shot of chocolate and added one shot of vanilla. The first sip the nose picks up on the coffee which immediately is replaced by a sweetness hitting the nose. Then the mouth senses the nice salt and caramel bathing the tongue and as it dissipates then white chocolate takes over, smoothing out the whole experience. Literally I couldn't wait for the next day as I wanted to try it again to certify my first visit's experience. This time I opted for a hot Smooth 7 which has white chocolate and Irish crème breve. This one had a subtle change in flavor but the Irish cream hits a little different. Instead of the salt being the first on the palate, the cream had that barely noticeable whiskey flavor elevating the experience then being once again rounded out by the white chocolate. To be honest I'm not sure which drink was better as they both offered subtle differences; equal in enjoyment. One aspect I didn't like was the fact I don't have their menu memorized. So, when I asked the very nice car attendant if they had a menu, she couldn't make a suggestion nor let me see a menu on her pad, therefore I had to use my phone. Think about that for a second, they don't have an easily accessible menu for the convince of the customer. It would be nice to know their base offerings in addition to a lot of flavored syrups to customize your flavor needs. To summarize on a Saturday morning after the 4th of July no cars thus a quick experience of great coffee. On busier days a lot more cars 7 Brew has horrible accessibility and do your research before pulling up.
