I love Cafe Mustache as a study spot. It's great to come in the afternoon, enjoy a coffee and snack while you are studying. Stay long enough, and then you can grab a beer or cider at the bar to finish off that research paper. Stay a little longer, and you can finish your evening off with some karaoke. Very chill, and relaxed atmosphere. They have a cafe side and a bar side, and free wi-fi. Parking is a pain the butt to find though, especially if you are looking for unmetered parking. The interior was fun as it was spacious and filled with mix-match furniture along with random yet fitting trinkets throughout the entire shop, which made the atmosphere comforting. We ordered the smoky maple latte and Jalisco latte. Both of the drinks were good as they were made well, but lacked some bold flavor and did not live up to their names well. The photo booth in the back was a nice surprise. And apparently, the coffee shop turns into a bar with live events after 6 pm. Café mustache has easily become one of our favorite spots around our place. So of course, it's getting our first review! There's a strong sense of community here, as they often showcase local creatives at events they throw like beats and brunch! Such a cozy spot to get some work done or to read a good book :) The staff here is always so sweet and patient. Their service is pretty fast too! Our go to dish here is the grilled cheese. It's probably the best grilled cheese you will ever have, and is consistently the best, every time!!! Their coffee is always pretty solid too. I barely go to this place and I decided to take my girlfriend out for some karaoke on a Sunday night. I saw Murph, I met him when they were running some competition-like thing for the Salt Shed. I waved my hand at him to say hi coz I haven't saw him in a while, and this guy threw a pen at me from the cash register to the end of the bar by the entrance! I have been a karaoke aficionado for a long time now, and I have never been treated with such disgust and disrespect. No one should be treated this way in a place that promotes a positive vibe. There's nothing positive about this. Also please boycott their Salt Shed events. They only let their friends sing up there, even tho me and my friends supported them for 2 years and never let other people up there to sing. Not to mention that me and my friends are amazing singers too. Very sad how biased some people can be. read more

There's coffee of course, as well as a small food menu including sandwiches, soups, and more. A lot like hanging out in someone's kitchen or living room with crappy old furniture. It's kind of like there's a don't give a fuck attitude, but they're still pleasant about it. This place changes from a cafe in the morning and afternoon, to a bar at night. First time here at the bar we got a drink. It's about $7 for cocktails, so not bad for around here. Cool names for the cocktails. I got the Get Your Amass to Mars. This is sustainably soured Amass Chamomile Vodka with a choice of soda or tonic. After coming back another time at lunch, we got coffee and food. It's about $6 for a coffee, such as the Smoky Maple Latte. Also we got the Vegan Chili. It's $8 for a bowl, and you get a lot. There's black beans, kidney beans, and good stuff. Get some pretty good coffee from here. If hungry, also get food at breakfast and lunch. This place becomes just a bar at night so choose the best time to go whenever. read more

A lot of people I know regularly go to Cafe Mustache for karoke, PBR, and Malort, but what keeps me coming back is the "Luanne". And it's one of the best breakfast sandwiches in the city. This spot is a cafe by day bar at night establishment with some serious hipster decor (which I personally love). I usually come here for ambient brunch on Sundays. Which basically means there's some guy playing various ambient tracks from his vinyl collection. It's actually quite nice. The Luanne is a breakfast sandwich that is compromised of egg, great bacon, Muenster cheese, some sort of garlic aioli (I think) served on an everything bagel. It is SO GOOD. Their vegan chili and various baked goods are very solid, as well. Sunday brunch here is just a really nice and chill experience. It starts at 12:00 and seats do fill up so try to get here ASAP. read more

Matt (my new boss) has been trying to start these monthly "coworker bonding" events which are supposed to "bring us closer as a company," and I absolutely hate the idea. In my opinion, I spend too much time around these people anyway and I don't want to endure any extra hours looking at their beady eyes and talking about god-knows-whatever that is trending on Twitter. However, everyone else at the firm is totally head-over-heels about the concept, leading us to spend a night out at Cafe Mustache. Cafe Mustache is a pretty schwanky karaoke bar, and I have no quarrels with the staff or the actual establishment itself, but good god did I have a terrible time there. Most of the time, I was sitting in the back watching my coworkers (and other paying customers of Cafe Mustache) make absolute asses of themselves. These people were singing predictable garbage from artists like Queen, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, and Journey. Not only were these drunk idiots singing off-key (yikes), these simpletons would sometimes mess up the words to the songs! After almost two hours of this nonsense, Matt went up to the stage and sang one of my least favorite songs of all time: Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive." Even though the whole place was through the roof the entire time, he somehow made that song even more unbearable to me. After a few more people went up (and after I took in a few more drinks) it was finally my turn to rock the house. I made my way up to the stage and grabbed the microphone. The instrumental to Three Days Grace's 2003 hit single "I Hate Everything About You" started and then I began to sing. I had practiced during the car ride there, and I was confident in my ability to hit every note with an extraordinary precision. As I sang the chorus, I made sure to maintain strong eye contact with Matt so I could get message across with pristine clarity. I also did some mild head-banging during the post-chorus instrumental. At around the second verse, I begun to hear booing from the blob of people in front of the stage. I tried to make out who was booing, but the spotlights and smoke machine were too strong. I leaned in a little closer to get a better view of the crowd and ended up taking a deep breath of the artificial smoke, leading to a cough attack. I tried to make a recovery around the second chorus, but at this point I was completely humiliated. I slumped off the stage before I could embarrass myself any further. I ordered myself another Old Fashioned and rung up my wife so she could pick me up. read more

I've walked up and down Milwaukee quite a lot and yet never knew this place existed until recently. It's very eclectic -- mismatched furniture, antiques, and art everywhere you look -- an antidote to all the ~hip and modern~ coffee shops that have been poppin' up all over the city. Very unpretentious. Their coffee is provided by Bridgeport Coffee (hooray!). My smokey maple latte was tasty but I wish it was a touch hotter. WiFi isn't the fastest, especially if you sit on the bar side. Greeeeat playlist, though! I love when I go to coffee shops to do work and don't need to put in my earphones because the curated songs are great and they play them at the perfect sound level. We were able to do work in the cafe side past 6pm and weren't shooed away. They have a full calendar of events; they have something going on every night. Business up front and party in the back. Cafe Mustache is a super chill neighborhood coffee shop where laptops are welcome, and at night the second room turns into a bar with drinks and live music. Stopped in to meet up with a friend and ordered up a regular coffee and a blueberry scone. The coffee was fantastic. It was smooth and not bitter or acidic, and the scone was oh-so-fresh and memorable. The cafe had a lovely smell of nutmeg or cinnamon upon walking in. It's nice-sized and cozy cool with a fun quirky vibe and lots of games and knick knacks all around. Super friendly people run the place, and the street parking was abundant during the day. One of my favorite things to do on my days off is people-watching. Please, please, don't think of me as a creeper or a stalker. There's definitely no need to take any legal action. I just simply came to the conclusion that "Cafe Mustache" is a good spot to enjoy a cup of joe, listen to some music (Jazz was the genre when I was there), observe some Logan Square street fashion, or keep your head down and concentrate on the laptop screen if you absolutely don't care any of that stuff. I went there during the day, but it's a combination of coffeeshop and bar. I've seen some reviews mentioned that wifi turned off after 6pm. Based on the conversations between patrons and the barista on duty, cool performances happen at nights. I also noticed that monthly event calendar was posted in the restroom and on their website. I liked the hipster vibe a lot, but I was a little taken aback by the prices on the food menu. I really thought $11 for salad/sandwiches was, honestly, steep in my opinion. They do prefer cash, even though credit cards can be accepted here. I found out there's an ATM toward the back near the restroom. CM is also a Pokestop, just in case you were wondering. read more

Holy Hipster Heaven! Cafe Mustache encapsulates the nonchalant attitude and laid-back style that is what the Logan Square Hipster is. This little coffee & tea shop is right across from my friend's place so I'll often chill here waiting for him to get ready to go out. (Why do men always take longer than me to get ready!?) It's a decent sized shop and I like the vibe - chill & relaxed with no oogling from people with everyone minding their own business. They use an array of random mugs to serve everything and sometimes you'll get a fun one! They play some nice music to accompany your book reading or laptoping while in the shop. It's comfortable with cool decor - And once you've gone a few times, inviting. It won't be inviting your first time in. You won't have anything explained to you or be greeted in a happy manner. And you may be waiting quite some time for your drink as every time I've gone in, there has just been one fella working. This is just what it is here. Accept it...roll with it...or don't.... Cafe Mustache is right off the California CTA Blue Line stop, along with like a million other things on this main drag on Milwaukee. I'll be back...I always come back. read more

I use to really enjoy this place but my last experience was downright discriminatory. Came in the afternoon during non peak hours. Service seemed friendly as it was last time I went years ago, i ordered a drink and sat at the bar. My cousin then orders a drink and instead of getting the same service I had he was told he must present a vaccination card. He was told he can't remain in the bar. I was served by the same bartender one minute prior and not asked for any proof of vaccination. Is this now the new way to discriminate!? While it is a great bowl, in order to have all the toppings, it cost $16. How can you not have all the great toppings? It would be great to have a flat price to include all toppings. That being said, I will not return to this shit hole. I've previously ignored all the cons about this place because the service was good, but my last visit was awful! The dude bartending (the one that looks like a Great Value Slash from Guns N' Roses) got pissed because I ordered a water and I walked away even though my buddy was still right there. Dude had the nerve to tell me "next time don't fucking walk away when you order something from me!" - I was appalled and obviously I didn't like the way he spoke to me (I was visibly unhappy, probably looked like a typical drunk patron from the outside but I wasn't in the wrong).
