    "Western" Omelette

Worst dining experience ever. From the moment our party walked in (4), we were greeted by one waitress running around, working every table. The only available tables were covered in trash and after waiting for it to be cleaned, we were "offered" seats at the bar. Although the bar was cramped and the seats were rock hard, we were entertained during the very long wait for service by the sounds of our server being verbally abused by an older female co-worker. I ordered a western omelette, and have never had a bad experience with that at any other restaurant. So imagine my surprise when I cut into it to find celery and radishes inside. The omelet was less western, and more "what do we need to get rid of". Yuck! If the dirty atmosphere, hints of verbal harassment, and slop they serve doesn't do it for you, upon leaving you are forced to pay in cash, or be charged to pay with debit. No credit cards accepted. Would have had a better time lighting my money on fire.

First walked in and felt like I went back in time. While I was sitting there were plenty of cool things to see on the walls and gave that classic feeling. The service was great and I appreciate it that though I was coming in close to closing time the waitress still took time to take my order and the food was not rushed. Also the food itself was great and I enjoyed every bit of it. Be aware it is cash only but don't let this stop you from coming.

    Cafe is definitely old school.

This is your good old fashioned old school diner. Ate here for breakfast. There was only one waitress, but she was able to handle everyone with a friendly smile. The pancakes were huge and the coffee was hot.

Stopped into Sunrise Diner this morning for a quaint reunion with some friends hoping to enjoy some delicious brunch but was instead we were highly disappointed. Our first red flag should have been the "cash only" wrinkled sign on the door. What is this? The 18th century? Anyways, the singular waitress, a woman with an attitude but a nice bubble braid hairstyle, encouraged us to "find a seat if it's clean I guess". Hesitant, but hopeful we sat down and were given menus. When a friend kindly asked for a sprite with no ice, she was met with eyes of serious judgment by our waitress. I can only hope my friend will recover. Sprite-less, and hurt, we awaited our food which was the real kicker. When one requests a bacon omelette, they can only hope the bacon can be chopped. A more appropriate name for whatever my friend received is an 'egg blanket with a bacon surprise inside!'. Although we enjoyed the entertainment of the berating the singular waitress gave her staff, it's safe to say we will not be back. XOXO

Amazing guest work, hot chocolate is definitely one of a kind and delicious. Would have to come back for more and it's cheap.

This is your basic diner. No frills. And yes, on weekends things may run slow. But the breakfasts are filling and the B&G delightful. A place where lots of locals come.

I tried it today because someone commented that they did eggs well. They do. My omelette was fluffy and filled with ham. My husband's omelet was so packed with meat and vegetables that it couldn't be closed. He really enjoyed it. We asked for well-done potatoes and got well-done potatoes the coffee was OK not great not bad but I'm really fussy about coffee so take that with a grain of salt. You'll see the picture of his silver dollar pancakes and they look very pale, but they were well-cooked. We were warned when we entered that they were having some sort of trouble with the ticket machine and it might take longer than usual it didn't take any longer than I've waited many times before We'll be going back. I posted a picture of the front and a nearby business with a larger sign so you should be able to find it. It's a very small place and somehow we kept missing it so I hope the pictures help. Both of these two waitresses checked on us often. I do see one possible problem, the place is tiny in the middle of winter when that door opens. You're not far away from it. I don't know how they manage that. I'll let you know ,we will be going back.

But I was visiting West Lafayette, and it was morning, and I was feeling a little "under the weather," as my Polish grandmother would say when she went too hard on the Bud Lites the night before. So breakfast at Triple XXX it was, because I could walk there from the Purdue campus, and this restaurant is a West Lafayette institution. I got the Triple XXX Breakfast Special: two over-medium eggs, bacon, fried potatoes and wheat toast. And it was good, you know? It was simple and hearty. I especially liked the fried potatoes. But what really took it over the top is when my server, who was incredibly friendly, told me that she could bring me some root beer jelly to go along with my wheat toast. Record scratch. Say what, lady? Root beer jelly? Yes, Triple XXX makes their own root beer jelly, and they also sell it by the jar. (I bought a jar.) They are famous for their root beer, which is sold nationwide, so I guess it makes sense that they would also make root beer jelly. It tastes exactly the way you would think it would. It tastes like root beer! It's delicious. The seating at this restaurant is interesting: All of the seats are bar seats, and they face the middle of the kitchen. There were no tables or booths that I saw, unless you wanted to go outside and sit at one of the picnic tables on the patio. I liked this seating setup, because I could watch the action happen before my very eyes. The black coffee was very good. It better be, at a place like this! This is the kind of greasy spoon restaurant where old timers stay a while with a cup of coffee and a newspaper. (There were three such people doing something like that when I visited, as a matter of fact.) It's just a comfortable part of the West Lafayette community.

I ordered a double cheeseburger with just ketchup to taste the burger alone. My wife ordered the peanut butter burger, and we ordered curly fries to share. My burger was great, the flavor and quality of the fresh ground steak makes a big difference in the flavor being so good. My wife is a fan of the peanut butter on the burger, and we both like the bun used. We both got root beer, which is a step above all other root beers I have tasted, which also probably has to do with quality ingredients. I am a fan of Triple XXX, and so is my wife. We will be back to try out the other menu items and breakfast!

To my dismay, they arrived completely overcooked and unappetizingly brown. To add insult to injury, my toast was burnt to a crisp, nearly charred to a shadow of what it should have been. When I pointed this out to the waitress, her nonchalant response was, "It's kind of burnt," as if there are acceptable levels of burn. In my opinion, when the toast is predominantly black, it clearly falls into the category of "burnt." The overall quality of the meal was abysmal, and it was evident that the staff couldn't have cared less about my experience. While I was not charged for the meal, I wouldn't have paid for it even if I had to. There's simply no way I could bring myself to eat here again. Curiously, my husband ordered a similar omelette, but his came out perfectly yellow and appetizing, along with toast that was actually edible. This made me wonder if my request not to burn my food inadvertently insulted the cook, leading to my meal being intentionally scorched. After sending the dish back, I received not a word of apology or even an offer to prepare something else. It was a complete lack of customer service. This review, without a doubt, has to be the most negative I've ever written. Normally, I refrain from posting bad reviews because I understand that everyone can have an off day. If a restaurant attempts to rectify their mistakes, I tend to be forgiving. But in this case, the food was nothing short of garbage on a plate, and the indifference from the staff was glaring.
